Canada loves immigrants, but not a million at a time, thank you very much.

Canada needs immigrants who want to become Canadian....Who share Canadian values. Some groups seem to have an issue with integration and shared values, take a guess!

Canada has a massive immigration crisis right now. People cannot just be allowed to come here and live in our country without believing themselves to be Canadians. To be Canadian is not simply to live in Canada but to follow in the footsteps of our great country

I dont think the problem are immigrants , I think the problem is the type of immigrants that are coming in. My father had to show his hands to prove he was a worker to come into Canada. Now we are excepting everyone without caring what they can do

Instead of blaming immigrants, Canada should focus on creating more jobs. For example, the Engineering Council of Canada has a lot of unnecessary red tape. Doctors' and engineers' qualifications from foreign countries should be recognized so that they can contribute to society. Even PhD holders cannot work in Canada because they LACK Canadian experience according to businesses.

As an immigrant, I feel the problem is bringing more people than Canada can handle.\nAnd more means way more.

It works both ways. A lot of illegals from Latin America are also passing thru the U.S. enroute to Canada. Thousands are seeking refugee status upon arrival into Quebec or Ontario. Toronto is already bursting at the seams with tens of thousands of refugees plus new immigrants arriving every year. Add in a lack of affordable housing and jobs, and you have the makings of a disaster just like NYC.

Time to stop all immigration. We are no longer Canada. It might as well be called India.

The only solution to this is government should freeze bringing immigrants and pathway for students to become immigrants for few years until Canada overcomes with it's own poverty. Majority of people do not have a standard life in Canada now. Canadian born children have hard time to find jobs and their future is uncertain now. Government is totally responsible for creating this disaster.

I'm an indian immigrant to Canada myself, my family moved here in the 00s. We worked hard to integrate and build a new life for ourselves here. The new migrants are a disgrace and an embarrassment. I hope the govt does something to address this soon, they're turning canada into a slum

I've never been conservative or anti-immigration, but the situation is getting out of control. Canada has always been a country of immigrants, but in my country, Poland, that hasn't traditionally been the case. In recent years, the demographic landscape has changed significantly, and it's not just about our Ukrainian neighbors—over a million have arrived since the war. We're also seeing an influx of people from developing countries, many of whom come under false pretenses, enroll in private universities, or attempt to cross our borders illegally to reach Germany. Right now, we're at a loss, and the most frustrating part is that while we need skilled immigrants, we're instead getting unskilled individuals who don't even make an effort to learn the language. This isn't sustainable.

this is all bullshit because before the covid 19 there was enough people to fill all the jobs in Canada no one can tell me that we needed to import 4 million students from India as a away to get to immigrate to Canada these people will never return back to India i would not be supprised that there aren't kick backs to the polititians there is no shortage of Canadian born citizens to take the jobs that are available this is a scam by the Liberals the covid 19 did not kill that many people the importing millions of East Indian students and getting cheques in the mail from the Canadian govermment there is no shortage of rental property because the East Indians want to live in large groups in one home to cut the cost of living but they new that Canada is no India

Private banks, Monopoly, politicians who put foreign interests first and no government oversight caused all of our problems, and immigration just made it worse.. why are people blaming immigrants who were lied to about Canada for cheap labour and not our useless politicians? I landed in Edmonton 2003 as a immigrant and it was a such nice country back then, rental price is very reasonable. Since Justin became premier, everything got worse, high inflation and less job makes Canada no more a affordable country for Canadians. So it is time to change

A constant inflow of immigrants, illegal or not, that surpass any reasonable capacity. \n\nTradeau's gov suspended the non-visa requeriment for Mexicans because there were too many going to Canada... Only in Canada? The problem of immigration is everywhere in the Western world, and the anti-immigration sentiment is just a normal and healthy reaction. \nThis massive immigration influx pushes the increase in prices of housing to mad levels, and it's just a matter of time that the entire population realises about it.\nHere in Spain it is already unsustainable, crazy prices, no rent units available. So I guess only anti-immigration political parties will win the elections from now on. And it will be fair.

Canada isn't a nation of immigrants at all. Canadians are the descendants of immigrants the same as everyone else on the planet, including the indigenous. That is, unless your family has never left the place where humans first evolved.\n\nUnlike modern immigrants, the first white settlers in north America did not sail into an established society with power stations, health care, water and power distribution networks etc., to get the benefit of other people's hard work and investment. They started from scratch.

Apart from excess immigrants arriving, Canada must not lose its culture and heritage. We MUST NOT give up our traditions just because we have more immigrants. Diversity has become our adversity. People coming to stay here must also be patriotic!!!\nOn the security front, times have changed…. We need to be very careful as to who enters Canada, or even stop it for a few years!!!

Canada will have multiple problems in the coming decade due to worst immigrants and refugees entering in Canada. Certain ethnicities don’t even appreciate the values of this country

Immigration will not STOP ANYTIME SOON. Canada should have foreseen that the country would need more people 30-40 years ago and provided the resources to encourage Canadians to birth more children. Salaries are laughable, childcare is overwhelmingly expensive, food is expensive, rent is high. How do you expect Canadians to birth 4 -5 children when they are earning significantly less than their American counterparts. Immigrants will continue to troop into Canada where we like it or not.

Great assessment. My wife left Vancouver 22yrs ago. It was bad then and has only gotten worse. Sadly the residents would rather smoke a joint than vote for a conservative govt and attend a church. Forget about GOD can't be surprised when he forgets about you. That said Australia is not much better and getting worse by the day. The reason govts love immigrants is because they bring money in and are obivious to the local politics so the govts simply continue to introduce more and more corrupt policies every year. Even after they become citizens they remained divided on political thought because they tend to have a duality of mindset which says, if it all goes bad I will go back to where I came from. Meanwhile the local population is so busy applauding a PM like Trudeau who leagalises pot so they can be so stoned while there country is stolen right out from under them. The country always gets the govt the country deserves. Place your faithin JESUS CHRIST for he is the only one who can save you, not a corrupt govt. REPENT and come to CHRIST! \nAs I said earlier, not trying to pick on Canadians as Australians are no better. Please learn the difference between refugees and immigrants. Canada needs immigrants to fuel its economy. Profofessionals come here in Canada ready to work and pay taxes while Canadians were educated for free (k to 12) and even availed student loans before even contributing to Canada's economy. Be specific with what immigration programs you are referring to. Some immigrants do not owe you anything for being immigrants in Canada. We came here fully equipped with education and skills, bringing our savings and ready to work and pay taxes.

How much money does Canada receive from international organizations every year to accept new immigrants? Where is that money for infrastructure?

The problem is that people don’t understand that Canada is a federation. There needs to be coordination between the federal government and the provinces. Canada lets people in, provinces provide the services. Canada doesn’t build housing, provinces and municipalities do. Canada doesn’t build schools. Canada doesn’t build hospitals. This is a federation and until people understand the country they live in, they will never solve all the challenges ahead. Just like Quebec, all provinces should negotiate with the federal government to provide immigration permits according to their needs. The more Ottawa centralises everything, the bigger the problem will become.

It's a Canadian tragedy that immigrants are homeless in Toronto and smaller communities are begging for an influx of people. There should be an incentive for immigrants to choose to bring their talents to rural Canada and form a new community away from their original homeland. This is how it was when my grandparents came to the prairies, a German community flourished.

I have only been in Canada for seven months now, but I noticed a few things about its economy that led to this mess. I noticed that Canada has no globalized companies, meaning the government only makes a little money from doing business with other nations. Businesses here are lazier than their neighbor, the USA, or even in my country, Vietnam, which could be due to a lack of competitors. Cad also has the biggest forest reserve and largest oil deposit but is the lowest exporter. So I wonder how on Earth it stays in the top 10 wealthiest countries with such lazy activities. Up to this point, foreigners are the biggest income of Canada; this country is truly built on immigrants. To keep the country running, it must attract more foreigners. Without int' students, how much do citizens have to pay to keep schools running? If you view it differently, the government also sells the PR through SV Visa because, let's be honest, if millions of investors have invested, there should be something or at least one globalized company, but there are none. From $75k to $200k, foreigners can buy PR for every family member. It is considered affordable for Asian families compared to the USA or Australia. On top of that, another scam is a carbon tax, which means the government needs to learn how to make money rather than invent taxes and sell dreams to foreigners.

Wow trudeau in my opinion ruined Canada now companies are allowed to advertise on government job board for 28 days if they claim no persond can do the job the can brong in temporary foreign workers so cheaper workers over 600,000 a year excempt from foreignbuyer rule and fast tracked to permanent residents. Plus, there are an extra 416,000 immigrants per year. Actually Canada has never had an over population problem until now. The real question is why is Canada encouraging over population. A million immigrants a year is unsustainable. Everyone knows it.

As an immigrant in Canada, I don’t think those interviewed are anti-immigration; they’re just pointing out a true fact: there’s no structure to welcome more people. It’s that simple. Why invite more people if they can’t support the ones already here?

The immigration system in Canada is a fraudulent criminal enterprise. Housing is the bigger problem, not the immigrants. We allowed foreign buyers to mop up all the detached and artificially raise prices. Now homes are 8-10x income when banks will only lend you 4x. How does that math work? Are Canadians supposed to have 600k saved if they want to buy a start 1M detached in Toronto? There are a multitude of issues in Canada right now.

Odd that Guardian makes a video on anti-immigration sentiments in Canada, while their own country burns on anti-immigration riots!

Bald guy is WRONG. We don’t need immigration to Canada. We need to encourage in situ growth by people who already live in Canada having more kids. Changed in taxation alone could result in this.
