I was born and raised in Toronto. It's not what it used to be and it's never going to recover. I took my family and left Canada. The education is terrible now and hyper politicized, the medical system is terrible, affordability is terrible. Ask yourself if you're willing to invest in a life and property in a country that will take a minimum of 20 years to recover from trudeaus terrible economic policies.

They're trying to get rid of the middle class and force rentals and no more ownership. Refugees and immigrants are allowed in to mess with demand and covid caused people to move out of the city, then American billionaires such as Bill Gates bought up all the vacant homes and are raising prices. We gotta fix the loopholes and only allow people who live here to own. Pretty much what happened in Rome is going to happen here and Canada has a lot of resources which is what China wants.

Born and raised in the East end of the city... Lost our rental unit there, had to move out of the city. Now I spend so much money on transit every day.

Left the GTA in 1999 to raise my children...one of my son's was in school that went to sixth grade, there were gangs and there were swarmings at that time...our three bedroom was 935$ plus hydro then..Shudder to think what it would be now. Live in NB now...house is paid off on a five acre lot, kids are grown, great place to raise grandchildren. Best decision we ever made. I'm sorry to hear that you wish to leave Canada. I understand the problem with winters. I think inflation is a world problem that you can not escape. I don't believe that the government is doing anything more than trying to be inclusive to all of the 'others' of our society but then I am an old man living in a very isolated place. My children were raised Muslim but not of the 5 prayers a day. My disappointment with the Canadian government's and opposition's stance regarding the genocide in Gaza is huge and it is the best reason you have given. Canada as with Germany in Namibia has its own problems living up to the genocides we have committed in the past. If you go to Malaysia I hope you become sensitive to the 'others' that live in that country.

As a Torontonian born and raised here it’s had a couple shifts in feel over the past decades. Around the mid 90s, there was an increase of gun violence, crime and theft in the city which caused my family to move out to the burbs. I moved back during the 2009 recession for higher education at one of the institutions downtown. At that time, there wasn’t much violence at all. We went out til the wee hours of the morning from Fashion district (Queen and Richmond) to Honest Eds (Bathurst and Bloor), to Yonge and Dundas square. There were still some homeless people then, but fast forward to now, it’s gotten aggressive. Instead of the homeless people keeping in their camps, but now, they have been displaced, are angry, mental health issues are rampant and incidents can happen anywhere. I think we have the right mayor in place now to make some positive changes for the social issues in the city and I am optimistic that we can get it cleaned up over time. For now though, I agree with the sentiment, come for a visit, but maybe skip out on living here until the social issues get sorted. You always have to keep an eye on the back of your head these days.

Everything is expensive and you will be taxed to death. The current government is terrible and the winters are freezing.

Real estate in Australia is expensive because the nation is highly successful and ordinary citizens are wealthy, and this includes real estate, plus with 3 billion middle class Asian's right above Australia the Asian economy dwarfs the US economy to insignificance. Job opportunities are dictated by the fields the economy needs - oil is insignificant in Australia compared to other industries. Geographic Isolation - Thank god the rest of the world is far away, as an Australian I wish it was further away. Air fares prior to pandemic were reasonable USA to Australia around $800 return - but this guy lives in Perth so to go 4-5,000km to the east coast will be expensive - on the east coast a one way ticket to another city can be had for around $50 to $80 - Again for Australians proximity to the US market is not significant we are focused on the Asian region. Natural beauty anywhere is amazing but I prefer a warm climate over a frozen one - The Canadian population is all centered around the US/Canadian border region the rest of Canada like central Australia is vastly empty. In conclusion I find many immigrants want to move from Australia to Canada is proximity to the USA but for Australians the US market or lifestyle is not attractive or important.

Interesting! Making an announcement that you're leaving a country and going to another country before you decided which country you want to go, looks a bit impetuous. Also leaving Canada and going to another Muslim country where literally 99.9% people are trying to go the opposite way makes me think this announcement is premature. \nAlso, I know lot of people that made an attempt to go to India from US/Canada for reasons of not wanting to raise the children in Western Culture. Among them about 90% came back to the West in less than two years. In my estimate it's even more difficult in the Islamic countries except Turkey and Dubai (which one may question if are even Islamic). \nAnyway, if you succeed and were actually able to settle, you're in the tiniest percentage of the people who were able do that; not a small feat! Anyway, best of luck!

Born and raised in Toronto and i can tell you that life has become miserable here after covid. Your money isnworth nothing unless you make insanely amounts of money. You work your butt off to just pay bills and little money left to save for a dream that you can never afford. If it wasn't for all my family here I would definitely consider leaving it all behind here because this country as beautiful as it is has been depleted by our current government parasites.

Is government strategy that's it. But the root of the problem is too concentration of people inside the cities and lack of home solutions. Houses it does exist but some invest gang got all houses and pull the prices to raised.

I was born and raised here and lived here all my life, but I don't recognize it anymore. It is dirty, not well-kept, has a serious problem with homeless people and customer service is non-existant any where. Food prices are insane, rents are crippling people and as a pensioner I never have any money at the end of the month (and I was a teacher and owned my own home). It is no longer the place I knew and loved, and I wish I could leave.

Had a friend that in 2022 family moved to KSA, then Egypt, then Turkey trying to find the right place to raise family in Muslim environment. They came back to USA 8 months later.

Very very wise choice I must say... The few reasons I can agree with. For me the most disgusting reason is high income tax except montreal. Currently looking forward to make the migration to turkiye or russia. friendly neighborhood to raise families, cutting edge amenities, stable economy and low tax. I would hope you could find happiness in Canada. One of my concerns about living in a theocratic country would always be, is this choice really your own? Can you ever be certain, if faced with violations of your rights, that the choice is really yours? And, if not, can you consider yourselves as choosing Islam, rather than being forced into it, even if in absence of theocratic rule, you would have chosen it anyways? Maybe I’m overthinking it. I have the tendency to do that. I think if I were Muslim, I might choose Tunisia. I’ve known people from Tunisia and it sounds like they’re pretty open-minded, but still obviously predominantly Muslim. I’ve been to Dubai, and while I see many people recommending it, I honestly thought it was the worst combination of East and West. All the commercialization of the West, but none of the democracy. Plus, if you are not native Emiratis, you will always be second class. I’m from the US in what I think is the mini-Canada (ok, the Twin Cities) and we have a big Muslim community, but I’m very concerned Trump will win again in 2024, and I don’t know what will come of it. My daughter is part Afghani, but raised Catholic because her father’s side is irreligious. But I still worry for her, looking like she does and carrying that last name. People are so awful.

I really like you guys... even though I'm not a big fan of islam. I think you are making a very wise decision to move to an islamic nation. As a born and raised Canadian I made the decision to flee my homeland of 42 years the moment that the current regime came to power in 2015. I ended a highly successful, well-paid 20+ year career, sold everything I owned and was gone within six months. I am not a religious person, so that did not factor into my decision, though I knew what was coming since I had lived for years as a member of a minority that was constantly demonized by former Liberal rulers for decades.\n\nI completely understand your reasons for leaving and wish you all the best. Canada was a great place to grow up in and I wouldn't trade that experience for the world, but to say that it is now going through a process of state-funded and engineered societal decay would be an extreme understatement. It breaks my heart to see what's become of my once wonderful nation, but I've resolved to treat it like a deceased parent who lives on in fond memories, but is never coming back.\n\nI hope you find the ideal sanctuary for you and your children away from the madness plaguing the world these days and I am eager to see where your journey takes you. I also feel that your decision is the right one. When people move to another country they are expected to adapt to the general culture of that place. And Islam is not really compatible with Canadian values. For the sake of your children it will be better to raise them in an Islamic country. As an aside: the Canadian government does not support the war itself in Gaza, they just are against the gruesome massacre of October 7 (a true genocide by classic definition), and consider the fact that the war was forcibly brought upon Gaza by that event.

You'll come back to Canada or the USA after a while, I'll bet my money on it. I am a person that was born and raised for half my life in the middle east and moved to America. Believe me, you should be proud and thankful you live here in the west.

I m an Indian Christian, born and raised in Malaysia. My homeland. We are a nation of different cultures. Malay, Chinese and Indian. These are the 3 Major race but we are called Muslim country. We live in peace and harmony. Everyone has their rights to believe in their faith and live peacefully together here. Inflation is bad here too but still affordable. For expats, If you want to migrate to Malaysia, make sure you get high wages in USD and a company that will renew ur contract. You can't be citizen but you can apply for PR.. but the process is not that easy. Some of my friends who are expats still live here after 15 years without a PR. Our country is small so it's not easy to get it. Your children can get into International schools or home schools WITH UK IGCSE SYLABUS TOO... its just pricy a little. Other than that, Malaysia is a beautiful Tropical country with beautiful and friendly people to live with. Malaysia truly Asia. ❤

as a born and raised Canadian, we had a unique identity that we were specifically NOT American. That line has blurred over time so now we have poor public services (like the US) but still have high taxes and high COL. You guys can consider Dubai as one of your options. It is so safe here. Awesome education for kids with islamic and Arabic subjects along with all the other modern curriculum. We Love dubai. Never had any problem in having halal food, zero security related issues, zero racism. Well balanced work and life, moderate inflation but you never really can feel it. In short, its an ideal place to live and raise your kids here. Alhamdulillah. We also decided long time back to move to Canada or New Zealand but the brought up of our kids was the biggest reason that we never did it. We are so greatful to Allah for making the right decision of staying in Dubai.
