As someone in his late twenties living in Quebec, I got to say this is very accurate. I won't say things are as bad as some other people are saying in the comments, but I do feel like the country is going downhill. For me, these are the main three things that feels wrong:\n\n1. We, as citizen, tend to offload every responsibility to the governments. Each election, they promise to handle more, but fail times and times again to deliver on their existing responsibilities. But we still vote for them, because we fear personal responsibilities. They created these immovable bureaucratic monsters and they lost control. They promise new shiny things instead of fixing what is already in place.\n2. We lost all notion of what is necessary. People gets more and more entitled which leads to overconsumption and frustation. Quebecers used to be proud peoples who survived with the little they had. Now greed has consumed our identity and nothing is holder us together.\n3. I feel that jobs are less and less useful to the society. Even I, as an electronic/software engineer, wonder if my job as meaning. I feel we lost touch with the concrete world. Some people have 0 contribution to anything useful and have really good salary and work conditions, while others bust their ass in shitty conditions. I feel like everything that we need is produced/done by a frighteningly small amount of individuals.\n\nBut from what I heard Canada isn't the only country to feel these. It maybe just hit us harder.\n\nP.S: It came out way worst than I initially intended. Maybe it is that bad...

I arrived in Canada when I was 5 and been here for almost 50 years. I think people forget how much the original folks struggled. You hardly found an Indian store and were discriminated against. I think you made some valid points Canada is heading in the wrong direction and we need to blame the government. We don't even have affordable housing or Healthcare to support the increase in immigration. These no name colleges are making money at the expense of poor students. These students then have to work in low paying jobs. I really don't see any scope for some of these students. Think twice before coming to Canada because even I am thinking about leaving this country now...high taxes and it will only get worse!!

Seriously considering moving back to India!! After living in Canada for more than 2 decades, retiring here with the meagre income means skipping meals and maybe wear layers instead of high heating bills. \nAlthough conditions in India may not be as idyllic, but food and living costs are way cheaper and one can lead a decent and healthy life without having to starve it out !!\nWhat happened to the Canadian dream !! Really sad.

All of those issues are the same in any OCDE country. \n\nHousing market is shit in Europe too, even worse I would say, but at least they have decent public transports, so you can live outside a city and still go to your work fast. That’s the only real advantage. (Okay maybe construction quality and norms also)\n\nFrom experience, aka a French software engineer now living in Quebec, cost of life is waaaaaaay cheaper here than in Europe. I just don’t buy shitty stuff I don’t need, and eat responsibly. \n\nSure Canada have a lot of issue. Probably due to the current liberal government and the usamerican capitalism, healthcare is in shambles (as any other healthcare system in OCDE), public transport is non existant, etc. \nWherever you go, at some different levels, theses are issues you find in any developed countries because this is just how we made our society and how it’s deteriorating because our model is just bad overall. \n\nI do have gripes with Quebec stuff, which I think it’s one of the worst province in the country, but as far as I’m concerned, as well as most of my immigrant friends, this is still a prime country to immigrate to. \n\nAlso, the Canadians are really welcoming, progressive, kind. (In general, not all of them, don’t get me wrong)\nOne of the best people I’ve encountered and this is very important when you immigrate somewhere.

lol...I left Canada 12 years ago...Canada is not moving forward, very little industries to choose, very little roles and positions to offer, the work culture is slow, lazy and dumb in general. Cost of living and tax is high. The government is not open to welcoming more outside investment or allow more companies into Canada. \nAnd having Trudeau as the PM makes everything just worse... \n\nThe only reasons I would go back to Canada, for a vist only, is because of the fresh air and trees and quietness. And maybe some food that I like...and to see my family. But that's all.....I moved back to Hong Kong, and then explored opportunities in mainland China as well. Honestly, after my experience back in Hong Kong it felt like Canada is at least 20 years behind. And after exploring mainland China, it feels like Canada is 40 years behind. \n\nSo yea, no plans to move back to Canada.....because even elderly homes in China now provides really high quality service compare to the ones offered in Canada, you would feel like the Canadian elderly homes are a prison for old people.

I earn only $75,000 USD per year and my wife earns around $50,000 USD per year and in Kingston JA we live really good house already fully paid off. Thought about moving to Canada and after lots of research and doing the math I realize that we were living better than 80% of Canadians. Many people from the Caribbean are running to Canada and I am clueless as to why.

Housing crisis is manufactured. The problem is not of cities not growing, they are, but the real issue is that the places between the cities such as in central Canada are vastly undeveloped. Why crowd out existing cities when entire new ones could be created? It's really a management issue. As for other things it's way too risky to be a small business. Everything is overly taxed on every level. Money was worth nothing for the last ten years so demand for housing went up. Owners won't rent because the laws are on the tenants side. Crime is up because nobody feels secure in their futures. Inflation needs to be pulled to zero so that some stability can be established, the debt and deficits need to be eliminated.

ethics didnt really matter , you being treated equally would prve that baeement maker. ethically they cant prove theyre for nothing n would be better off to reform many ways, they already made you dumber then Canada's hoodlum prpblem and assholes who thought they mattered through out. we're still telling them has intended how great life is n that we'll live . we have wared our childrens species with no value loss of opposition to our species dying swearing lifes still just to great indigenous then their mothers inbred slot.

Living in the US is better than Canada until you get really sick, then you need to mortgage your house 3 times just to keep yourself alive. There are problem with every country when you only compare them to the best countries in their respective fields. The past 3 years have been very difficult for all countries.

It's astonishing to see so many Canadians voicing serious complaints about their country. More to hear complaints coming from immigrants who then left Canada in disgust and found better lives elsewhere is even more astonishing.\n Yet I warn everyone else. It's okay for Canadians to complain about their own country. They have every right. As for immigrants or immigrants who left Canada, well, they were there and experienced the downside, so they have legitimacy.\n But for any other non-Canadian, including me, keep our mouths shut and say nothing. Canada has the same problem as the United States: wrong kind of politicians elected. Like the U.S., most Canadians consider themselves compassionate liberals and thus feel obligated to vote for said, compassionate liberal politicians. The problem is, for Canada and the U.S., these compassionate liberal politicians don't know how to run the nation's economy except to run it further into the ground. And when the problems get really bad, the solution is always, raise taxes because liberal politicians are either Marxist Socialist and believe the citizenry are obligated to pay higher and higher taxes for more government intervention, meaning, interference, in most cases.\n Whenever Canada does get around to voting in a conservative prime minister and government, the Canadian mass media immediately goes on a years-long negative campaign of deliberately undermining the government in the eyes of the Canadian People, demeaning them as inept and uncompassionate and comparing them to fascists. Eventually the Canadian People get so distressed they have to vote back in the liberal party. And then the same happens again.\n I'm just glad our Canadian brothers are not blaming the U.S. government or the CIA, but instead are clear-headed and courageous enough to blame their own government and past legislations and laws that do the exact opposite of what is supposed to happen, level the playing field for all Canadians.\n I'm reading about the outrageous pricing of Canadian housing and am astonished. But one YouTuber explained this about his Canada. Everyone in Canada wants to squeeze into the few, concentrated urban areas that concentrate business, finance, manufacturing, job opportunities, et al. As it happens, these areas are too few and far between. So what ends up happening is geographical overpopulation, despite Canada having a total population of around 32 million souls. People in California can certainly understand this phenomenon. You can purchase a 3-bedroom house out in California City, which is near the Mojave Desert, for $176,000, but there's nothing out there to make it worthwhile living there. Conversely, a tiny, 3-bedroom home in Torrance, Los Angeles, was selling for $800,000 in 2018. \n As realtors put it this way all the time, location, location, location!\n I'm going to pass on commenting on Canada's National Health Care. I've read criticisms from native Canadians on the Internet. As Canadians, they're entitled to say whatever they want about their country. If I, a Yank, open my big mouth, I'm going to get trolled by a hundred angry Canadians defending their National Health Care as the world's greatest socialized medical care. Health Care is already expensive enough in the U.S. Most people get it through their employer, which pays a part of it. But employees' monthly deductions for health insurance have been growing steadily over the past 30 years to where it's now a huge chunk out of one's monthly paycheck.

Canada has become a backup plan for people who live elsewhere. You immigrate, toil for the requisite number of years until you receive your citizenship, and then bolt out of there only to return if crap really hits the fan in your warmer, less work obsessed country of origin.

Because Canada’s human rights record is now very poor and many of the immigrants have left tyrannical regimes and don’t want to live in another. Sad really but when they discard Justin and his “Illiberals” things may change.

I’m from Canada and moved to Europe the better part of twenty years ago. It’s nice to visit, but I don’t want to live there. I just feel it’s really boring and isolated.

How can people shop around for a new country without respecting the people who built this country and complain about it like they have the moral high ground. 10 years ago before mass immigration the crime was very low so think ! What has happen ? Mass immigration! But nobody takes responsibility for what they bring to canada . If all you know is corruption can you really stop this mindset just because you moved. No! Bang on with the qualification mismatch. It's very difficult to get higher paying jobs in Canada even with qualifications. People are leaving a lot of money on the table if they're not targeting jobs in the US. Also in Canada, you're not really part of an identity. The culture here is import as many people as possible + 50%, have them line up to work medial jobs and then take 30-40% of their taxes. The higher you get it's even more.

My wife waited 24 hours to see an emergency doctor 2 weeks ago in a winnipeg hospital and commented to me that a lady there had been waiting there for 48 hours also I waited for 2 years to see a specialist but part of that was during covid, also the wages are some of the lowest in the country here in winnipeg and still has some of the highest property taxes in the country and now with bill C11 and bill C19, with all of these Canada has a lower living standards than more than a few 3rd world countries. Our civil liberties here have changed for the worst and the future looks bleak, I would have moved away if I could but I can't as I wont leave my family behind some things are really more important than money and that's family but still I fight on and hope things will one day change. Also recently the canadian government did a standing ovation to a Nazi and froze the bank accounts of peaceful protestors, really not looking good for Canada.

Im leaving because Canada is one of the worst communist woke hellholes on the planet. Its also incredibly anti-whyte. 4 more years then I can retire and get the hell out of this frozen dump. As a European who lived for 3 years in Canada, I have to say that Canadians - as much as I love them - are very entitled. They live in a bubble and don't realise how good they have it. \n\nTheir country is beautiful, the lifestyle is phenomenal even if you aren't rich. A lot of things they complain about like rising house prices, food costs, and political divide is literally happening everywhere - I'm really not sure why they think only Canada is struggling with this right now. Perhaps because on their strong currency they can go and live like Kings in somewhere like Portugal or Bali, but then they don't realise that they are bringing over the cost of living crisis and making things harder for locals when they do that. \n\nThey want things to be perfect, which isn't something to discourage but they don't realise how much harder life is like in most other countries on the planet. The only ones who appreciated it were the people who had lived for a few years in the UK or Paris or Australia, or somewhere else they imagined that life was easier and then ended up actually miserable and actually struggling - and then soon fly back to Canada. I have to say though I do love the sense of always wanting things to be better, whilst in Europe we tend to accept having less, less options and struggle to the extent that we don't even see it as struggle.

I am a foreigner who lives in Canada now. I am not Canadian or East Indian. However, I am 100% SURE that if Canada did not import those useless, disgusting, and rude things, India would have been bankrupt 100% already. Unfortunately, Canada is still importing tons of those things again and again and Canada is about bankruptcy now. The Canadian GDP rate is proving that. Really useless and rude. \nAnd, yes, I also was thinking about PR, but I will leave this country pretty soon. One of the big reasons is the large population of East India in this country who are useless and just causing problems such as lack of health care or inflation.

New housing is owned by people who do not really live in Canada. New construction is fueled by offshore multi nationals and money laundering schemes. No one with a decent Canadian income can afford these units. Not only this, but incredibly, there is no free speech in Canada. Any voice of dissent or difference in opinion is brutally silenced. Not a democratic country anymore.

It boils down to the Liberal Party, which has been in power since 2015, e.g.:\n- high immigration targets and housing/jobs/healthcare/etc can't keep up.\n- decriminalization/destigmatization of drugs (especially in Vancouver)\n- political correctness, censorship, gender ideology, health mandates, soft on some crimes but harsh on thought crimes, etc.\n\nAs for other things like weather and challenges in finding a job, these were always the case but Canada really started to go down when Trudeau became PM.\n\nI migrated with my family as a teen. Parents (engineer and nurse) couldn't find a job in their field. Mom had to start as a care aide while she re-certify as a registered nurse even though she has a masters and taught nursing in a college in the Philippines. Dad had to settle as an appliance technician.\n\nThe 4 of us lived in a single-bedroom basement suite, but we bought a half-duplex in Vancouver in a couple of years, which would be practically impossible these days.\n\nI make a decent amount niw and own 3 properties, but if I have to buy my house at its current market value ($1.9m), I can't afford it. Even that half-duplex, my parents sold it at 6x during a down market years ago.\n\nThen there's crime and drugs: I've worked in the downtown east side of Vancouver since 2006 and the last couple or so years has been really bad - it's like a zombie apocalypse. Glad I work remote and have moved to a suburb around Vancouver. That said, I'm highly considering moving but it's hard with kids and aging parents.

My family came to Canada 5 years ago. The main reason was because my dad had been busy setting up a branch of his European company here for two years. He wanted to launch this new branch and then retire early. Canada as he knew it was a good option for him to do this. We even had a house long before we came to Canada. And we now live on the west coast of Canada. \n \nFor us, the transition to feeling at home here wasn't particularly difficult. We also had enough experience of what it was like to live in other countries. Canada actually turned out to be a very easy country to quickly settle in. \n \nI've heard that Canadians can be reserved, but my personal experience is completely different. \n \nNevertheless, I got to know fellow immigrants who didn't find it easy to get started in Canada. In my experience, they were not very or only rudimentarily informed about what to expect in Canada. Their expectations were very high and they failed because of the reality of everyday Canadian life. \n \nOthers had similar experiences, but they persevered and ultimately arrived in Canada. Some of my fellow students are international students who are also considering leaving the country because Canada doesn't offer what they were hoping for as a better life here. \n \nThe reasons are really too individual in nature to really generalize. I think there should be a lot more help given to people who are struggling with their fate in Canada, because there are enough programs that they could take advantage of but that they never hear about. \n \nUltimately, it may help if someone just listens to them and perhaps has some advice, no matter how vague it may be. Those who finally arrive in Canada after years of a long odyssey and find this country something like home are, in my opinion, those who never gave up.

What does the person presenting the video and probably ninety percent of responding to it have in common and really do not want to tell you this. There political ideology lines up closer to the far right in the USA. So it’s no surprise they would be sad and angry living in Canada and am glad they live by their convictions and move out.

Canada is a mess. All they build is luxury condos that most can't afford. Food is sky high, and greedy politicians don't seem to care as long as they keep growing their own bank accounts. The corruption is starting to really show.

To be honest, Canada really isn’t a remarkable country, we are not a knowledges-based economy like in the US, we do not have a good health care system compared to how much money goes into it (as a Canadian with a health care plan and family doctor) and our housing market is..well you know \n\nLove my country but it is not remarkable in anyway

Canada was conceived by the British. They wanted to stop the Americans from taking over their holdings. Canada does not work geographically, politically or economically any longer, it never really did. Just look at the history of the west, Louis Riel, Quebec's submission, maritime poverty, etc. This 19th century British Imperialist experiment has failed. The Federal government is taxing and mishandling the billions of dollars it hoards. It doesn't seem to matter what party is in Ottawa, they all stay up late at night dreaming up ways to screw over the Canadian citizens.Housing? Why do people get shoved into these expensive and ugly mansions? What family needs more than 1800 sq. ft.?

I am just wondering if I am an civil engineering major with experience 10 years, is hard to find a job that fits to my major. Or am I more likely to work as a constructor worker when I got to Canada. I am really considering to move with my wife and son to Canada

I really don't see the problem here. Possessing a Canadian passport is the goal; there are literally millions of Canadian expats who live outside Canada, perhaps they visit frequently, or infrequently, and many have investments in Canada. Become a global citizen, live where you like and visit Canada when you like. Canada will continue growing.

Im Canadian and I think the US is awesome. I have a handful of friends that moved south and they all love it there. Long ago my grandparents wintered in Florida and they LOVED it. Sure you have more crime but you have a hell of a lot more people so that's a wash in my book. We've visited and always enjoyed your country and people. Canada has changed drastically over the last decade, and not for the better. I really don't see a big difference. My 2 cents

As a visitor I really love Canada. It is clean, it feels safe and the people are so great; kind and helpful. Mind you I am from the UK so comparisons are hopeless.

Not really sure what’s causing all the problems within Canada but I’ll start with Justin Trudeau.

Born in Toronto but I had to get out. Not just TO but all of Canada is broken. The cost of living, rentals, food, the educational system and hospitals are all government run and horrible. No options. I'm in SE Asia now because you just can't prosper in Canada. The governments are soooo corrupt in Canada but to be quite honest, Canadians are really dumb and they don't see it.

as an Immigrant, I'm done immigrating for now but I get taxed net net around 45% + HST + Carbon tax + Property taxes, for all these taxes, I get really not much back. I don't qualify for most services, I don't get dental, I don't need many either, but it is putting a lot of pressure on my entrepreneurship aspirations. The healthcare is truly atrocious and still need to fly for medical appointments by good doctors since doctors here are dumber for some reason. If you want to be an entrepreneur who owns a house, Canada is not your place right now. Worst of all is the culture, highly highly introverted in a bad way, cold people, bad social skills, boring conversations and everyone seems to be high on weed. I am glad you have found something to do as a hobby but if you were in the USA you would have 4X the disposable income (and I think we all would still be complaining).

I moved to Canada 15 years ago and haven’t complaint once. I really love it here but if you make less than 80 000 I would probably regret as its expensive to live for the ones that make less. Unfortunately it’s difficult for an immigrant to make that amount of money. I would for sure go back to my country ☺️

Forget about immigrants, at least they can go back to their countries and jobs. It is not the costs only, it's the culture, the business how it is run in Canada. What about Canadian borns and Canadian educated?. A software developer, born and raised in Canada and for a year and half can't find a single job, not even an entry level with minimum pay or p/to. Not even a chance to call on one phone interview With lost hopes, seeking a job in Europe!. A young proud Canadian, who loved his country more than anything. \nImmigrants, run away or don't come, as really there is no job in Canada. Posting that you see, are sitting for years some of them and just rejecting candidates without hiring anyone.

Rent will keep increasing as there is no competitive market. as many of the people in Canada are already operating carousel tax fraud. Look that up on W5 and Canada is doing nothing to stop this, guess where all the ones at the top of that carousel are from? As long as there are ones operating illegal business earning more than the average hard worker being able to afford higher rent the rent will not be decreased but keep going up. Saying that they are bringing in mostly younger people is a lie too, they bring in everyone. That our workers are aging out and there will be nobody to do the work. Let's think about this clearly, as the population grows we need more businesses, more schools, more produce etc... Fact we need the same amount of business for a community based on the size of the community I would think. In the 1800's a small school house was sufficient, a local convenience store was enough with a mail order catalogue etc.. As population grows you need more. We also now have self check outs etc.. We are cutting down Canadas number one resource trees to make way for more and more roads etc.. Having to spend more to change and widen roads, feed these refugees, support them till they get situated, house them for how long, educate, train them, and then hope they can actually adapt and not hate us etc.. Look around the world and not just in our own back yards i.e. what happened in NY today, look at Britain afraid to put up Merry Christmas not to offend or any Christian monuments. Yet we have to tolerate. hmmm As said before I am neither Christian nor Jewish I am Natsarim and view those things as pagan myself but feel this world is going down the wrong path and nobody should have to cave in for the sake of others. I will stand with the Christian and I will stand with anyone that I feel are being made to turn over their ways for the sake of others and have their economy shattered in so many ways. Ask yourself what is your government really doing to protect you on so many levels? Many also come here only to study or take loans and then spend all that money they borrow and then leave, banks offer them special incentives with with welcome to Canada packages and they use it all up, buy goods, then sell them and leave. I read that it really is a problem and some have posted on quora if I owe canada money will I be arrested if I return or what will they do to me. It was quite a high amount on a special credit card he obtained that he maxed out shopping and then selling the goods. Now I know many can do that sort of thing and some by mistake, but those that have no intent to stay... The point is what is being done to protect us from purposeful frauds.

Immigration is not the problem, foreign intervention is,and we just stood around as our government announced that they are aware of Chinese spies within our government…Canada had a declining birthrate, we can’t keep up with our NATO budget and are about to get kicked out, we have a lack of infrastructure, “let them eat cake” but instead of cake it’s taxes to “save the planet in 100 years” Canadians are gonna save the world okay…. Immigration is not the problem. Our way of governing and our entitled upbringing have resulted in this problem. We just go oh well okay that sucks.\n\nWe have lots of workable land, oil,raw materials and lots of it, in an area that is very livable compared to say the Amazon. Did you really think the world is just gonna let us hide it away to have something pretty to look at while the world starves? It’s not immigration it’s foreign intervention and “investment” other nations and the UN will cry and say it’s not fair that we keep it all undeveloped. And they are right, it’s not fair… for the people who already live here, not for the ones you want to setup a work Visa for.\n\nWhy do you think the west and russia are fighting for Ukraine, we know it’s not for justice or the children like they say by now. My favourite is listening to immigrants complain about other rude immigrants. \n\nI am indifferent, Canada is not what it once was, as in its remote, pristine beauty. Its been corrupted and will never recover, much like most westernized civilizations. \nBest case is to let it crumble and rebuild with whats left over, the strong and resilient. The Canada I knew is long gone , we have an out of control government that is not working for the people and how to get out of this mess , we have to wait 2 more years this gives pretty socks time to really hurt the country

Good solid takes on life in Canada as it stands in the larger cities. My family immigrated in the late 80s when I was a young child to YYZ and the housing prices and quality of living was really solid back then. We moved to YVR in the late 90s and prices seemed to be pretty stable as well. Think things started to change shortly after my undergrad years in the mid 2000s. Unfortunately, the government wanted to increase immigration which is great, but forgot to build out the transportation infrastructure and develop the health care system properly. Foreign credential recognition is really the biggest bottleneck for newcomers. Newcomer employment expectations and what is available to them is not really matching up, I know this first hand as I've worked in the employment enabling sector. Weather as you mentioned is subjective, I prefer the cold, clean crisp air here in Canada, I don't do well in the hot humid polluted weather in most East and Southeast Asian countries. Crime has definitely been on the rise as many people around me have had personal experiences with this topic. Finally housing, to live comfortably in YVR a family income of 150K is probably bare minimum these days.
