We have the same problems in US too. It’s crazy for politicians promote the US dreams without an infrastructure of housing, job and such.

I guess I’ll be having to move to the US if I want any chance of getting housing or work. People who haven’t physically seen the stuff that’s happening here only know the bare minimum. Everything is too expensive, there’s no “Canadian culture” anymore, you can’t get a job, you can’t find a decently priced apartment, rooms for rent (private) are going for 1200$ a month in Toronto (and I’ve seen more expensive). I’m not excited to grow old in the country where I was born as it’s being run straight to the ground. It’s very sad.

You need to fix your own house ,before trying to help your neighbors.\nThis behavior will cause resentment of foreigners .

its by design. the same people wanting to take in more immigrants are the ones preparing to make you live in government housing. You will own nothing and be happy remember?
|

We can’t bring in more immigrants. Our government can’t house people we have here now. We have a massive drug problem. We have a massive homelessness problem. We need Doctors NOW!
|
| 2024-08-12 | 0 |
What about the small towns that this affects also. They flood small towns and with the government paying 70 percent of their wages small towns jobs are gone before we can even apply. Housing there is none anymore and what left is so high

Here in China, housing is so expensive that many young people give up on dating and getting married. Unlike in Western countries, where immigration is often blamed for housing issues, the core problem here lies with those who already own property. These property owners deliberately inflate housing and rent prices to maintain their wealth, while the government is more than happy to see property and land prices to stay high so they can earn higher tax revenue for their own politician’s pay bonus, forcing younger generations to work under exploitative conditions to pay for the predatory rent, leaving barely enough money to afford basic essentials .

Greed driven landlords are great in number now. I happend to visit a house in hamilton where a bed is renting in the dining space. 16 students living in a floor each paying per bed. This is not sustainable.

Take back our Country...no housing or jobs
|
| 2024-08-12 | 0 |
The issue is corporate greed. Why is it too expensive to build houses? Because houses are a basic human need depending on the free market to determine when it is financially beneficial to build houses for a basic human need, the question is when did we ever think this would end well?

Immigration, in itself is intrinsically wrong, before we even get in to the lack of housing, schools, healthcare and the destruction of our history, traditions and national identity.

They're streaming into the US from Canada to NYC by the (literally busloads) because NYC has a free housing policy for illegal immigrants. They are being housed while veterans are left on the streets - literally no room at the inn. Everybody is crying about illegal immigration at the SOUTHERN border, but don't complain about the illegal immigration at the NORTHER border. Didn't Trump build his 'big beautiful wall'? Did we not spend millions of taxpayer dollars on it? I know Mexico didn't pay a penny on it. I also know if illegal immigration is higher under Biden than Trump, his big beautiful wall is a big beautiful FAILURE.

Both locals and Immigrants are getting the short end of the stick... The policy makers just laugh as they pit one against the other. The government is just not building not enough housing for locals.

Let me guess, affordable housing availability?

Limitless immigration drives housing costs through the roof .

40 to 50 hours a week? I work that in Australia as an Australian. Indian universities aren't necessarily recognised overseas. Even then I've worked with many as engineers and got uber rides from many just as an example. Different cultural system. This is just my personal experience. \n\nYou have to remember that India has been studied as on of the most intolerant countries in the world. I've never got that impression from the majority of other nationalities I've worked with. Even had and engineer quit on his first ay because he couldn't accept another Indian as his superior. ?♂️ why?\n\nIm just saying. You can look up the worldwide studies that rank India so high for intolerance easily. These are large surveys. \n\nEnd of the day when you have large immigration spikes without infrastructure it is doomed and you will get a lot of misplaced hatred towards immigrants as low to middle class locals rents/ house prices explode. Not to mention the low skilled jobs that immigrants will do cheaper. \n\nImmigration is a cheap way for developed countries to increase GDP. Without planning and proper direction it will always fail on the whole. \n\nIm happy to debate my opinion with anyone. We all need a better approach.

It’s the same in Poland. Why completely alter the structure of society and increase housing costs for all just so we can order a pizza more easily with Uber eats? It’s crazy!

because people is braiwashed by media, why spending billions to support wars, banning.....instead using this money for infras..,housing .social.....
|
| 2024-08-12 | 0 |
Housing is only a minor fallout. Think of the spike in crime and drugs.
|

Immigration is a part of the problem,\nI know people who own 10 houses, that’s the problem\nEurope limits the number of houses you can own
|
| 2024-08-12 | 0 |
Build more houses. Like don't people understand that
|
| 2024-08-12 | 0 |
The problem in Canada is not immigrants, but greedy banks and companies turning the housing market into an investment portfolio.
|
| 2024-08-12 | 0 |
same problem in the netherlands , 2 many immigrants and no housing or jobs .\n\neven then they get housing first , an income given by the government.. all before there own people.. where is my house ? and why is that immigrant settling already ?
|
| 2024-08-11 | 0 |
Again another political regime telling the people what they need is not what the people want. If they are saying it’s down to not having houses, build the houses first.
|

If anything this video convinced me of never trying to start investing in real estate. \nNot that the insane housing prices helped either ?

Sadly, there is no housing for the people born there, theres long wait lists for surgery and people are dying before being seen, theres a rise in crimes, theres kids being stabbed to death, theres anger every where, in every country for the same reasons.... its time for All our politicians who All need to be Protecting the people of the country and the country itself. ... its not the people coming to work, to have a family and assimilate into the local community and culture..... its the ones who want to cause trouble, who refuse to work and expect to be kept by the tax payers who legally live there... the workers are sick of being over taxed, over worked, while others spit in their eye whilst riding on their back ...

Quality not. Quatitiy. No housing. Where these economic migrants supposed to live ?
|
| 2024-08-11 | 0 |
Learn from other countries. Singapore a small country have a public housing programme. Canada almost Nada.
|
| 2024-08-11 | 0 |
You are completely delusional if you think the lack of housing in Canada is not related to the ridiculous amounts of immigration
|
| 2024-08-11 | 1 |
The aging population theory requires immigrants to maintain gdp. The problem is a huge lack of government assistance with housing, healthcare, social services, ect. This seems to be increasing homelessness globally to the point laws are being passed to combat homelessness now. Crazy times when the solution of increasing government aid and assistance is rejected year after year

Im in BC . I got rid of the tenants cuz they would be late. Filled 15 non payment / late payment notices with the tenancy branch and delivered to tenant. The tenancy branch did absolutely NOTHING. 8 months later and loosing $36, 000 I made the decision to never rent ever. I got Airbnb license and am glad I made the right choice. I make the same rental income with no headache, and less use of the house. My two friends who had rental properties just stopped renting and sold them and put their monies into other businesses. Id say if you are renting, sell them and do something else cuz its a no win situation in canada. These politicions know there are more renters to give them the votes.

Not against immigration but Canada has let in Way too many people way too fast , the system can't handle it and not enough housing / jobs .... Canada is starting to look like a 3rd world country now sadly

A better title would have been why we have massive immigration.. Even though we have housing and health care problems ?
|
| 2024-08-11 | 11 |
If being racist means asking for affordable housing, competitive wages, and safe neighborhoods, then by all means call me racist. This is affecting the entire Western Society.
|
| 2024-08-11 | 0 |
Very deceptive formatting of this video. Starts with the harsh reality that jobs and housing are TERRIBLE for people who have just migrated to canada, but then end it with clips of already rich immigrants who paid their way to the front of the line.
|
| 2024-08-11 | 0 |
This gotta be a joke. Not one statistic to base anything said in this video. A quick google search reveals the housing crisis is made by canadians themselves bc of laws allowing ppl to own many properties to flip. I wonder what else guardian is reporting as facts
|
| 2024-08-11 | 0 |
Unfortunately the claim of racism is what immediately shuts down any real discussion of this issue.\n\nThe fact of the matter is housing prices are FAR too high. And while there are certainly main contributors, one cannot simply ignore the area of supply and demand. Too many people looking for too few locations to live. It doesn't get more basic than that.\n\nThe PROBLEM is our economic growth numbers are DEPENDANT on immigration, and if we just cut immigration the numbers will plummet and foreign investment will tank. We'd dug this hole for ourselves by voting in leaders that rely on immigration to prop up what is fundamentally a very weak economy.
|
| 2024-08-11 | 0 |
The amount of immigration has doubled but housing decreased and available jobs decreased.\n Can we take more people, no we shouldn't.
|
| 2024-08-11 | 0 |
We don’t have accommodations for new immigrants, please build more houses before allowing people to come to Canada ?
|
| 2024-08-11 | 0 |
Why is housing such a big deal? Every city in the world has homeless people. Canada Universities are selling courses to students all over the world giving false promises.
|
| 2024-08-11 | 0 |
It took me about 4 years to get into Canada. Had to go through a waiting process. But, then finally got it. Where as now, you pretty much have no waiting process. And, its because of that... where the economy has gotten so bad, that my parents had to lose their house. Stop this STRESS.
|

Build MORE HOUSING!
|
| 2024-08-11 | 0 |
It's poor planning. You can never allow population growth to outpace social services, housing, and public infrastructure. It's a recipe for disaster. The government just needs to take a practical look at what the country can and can't support.
|
| 2024-08-11 | 0 |
There are countries without that much immigration and still have housing and poverty problems. That tells me that this has nothing to do with immigration but with our current system
|
| 2024-08-11 | 0 |
For all the accommodative policies of western countries at the cost of their countries, they are now paying the heavy price in terms of increased entropy denying housing and shelter for the natives.
|

41k for an apartment is very extreme there should be laws to keep under 41k. people who are charging 41 for an apartment are the people who hurting our economy. People are charging 41k for apartments is helping to drive insane housing prices up. People are charging 41k for apartments making it possible for a 2008 housing crisis style accour in Canada.
|
| 2024-08-11 | 0 |
Similar problems to many western European countries, the USA, and Australia. Especially around larger cites. Not enough jobs, not enough housing for the people.

My grandfather was a photographer for Agricultural Canada and was able to raise a family of six own a house a new car every four years own a cottage my grandmother didn't work. He retired forty years ago he's still alive. I wonder how much an individual would have to make annually to do that now

Why they wanna come houses and apartments are expensive
|
| 2024-08-11 | 0 |
When my kids were in high school, the student population at their school was 84% Punjabi. Nice kids, nothing against them, but that says to me that, given the severe crisis in housing and the cost of living, we maybe ought to make things livable for the people who are already here (regardless of whether they were born here) before inviting a lot of new people to come and put more strain on the system
