They need to stop calling it immigration, it's not. The majority are illegal's, asylum seekers, refugees, people on open work permits or LMIA and international students thinking they can stay permanently. They are causing high taxes, stagnant wages, housing issues, high rime rates, and high taxes. The process of immigration is a long one and it's expensive. You need to prove you have the funds and somewhere to live or work. These people are being lied to to come here, exploited with employment , it's just bad for everyone, all around....except employers. Many don't know they get Government bonuses/Tax rebates etc. for hiring newcomers. Which is why you see more newcomers then Canadians being hired now.

I don't know.... I live in Montreal and I don't see recent newcomers as poor victims (I'm talking about most immigrants applying for refugee status) . \nWhy? \n1. In order to reach North America , one has to either cross the Atlantic or Pacific Ocean or cross huge chunks of land from Central or South America .... and that's really expensive. In Europe, since the coast of Africa is very close to Europe's , boats full of destitute and desperate people might be the norm. Not in North America. \n2. most of those guys arrive in North America looking for work \n3. most newcomers do possess smart phones and they know how to use them. They have their own network of friends and they're always on the lookout for good opportunities. \n4. most newcomers are very, very mobile. If they're having trouble finding work in Montreal and they need truck drivers somewhere else.... they'll go there . A new hospital needs aid personnel? They'll be there ready for hard work. \nThe positives ? They're probably working , making money and paying taxes. \nThe negative side? They're for the most part economic immigrants. It seems to me like most will have a hard time convincing immigration judges that they are actually refugees (economic refugees? if you will? ). \nMy take ? The way Federal Government deals with immigration should be changed. I believe that if immigrants already work here and are taxpayers... they should have working visas (at least temporarily). \nUndocumented criminal caught in the act of committing a crime? Immediate deportation (and I know this is obviously a lot easier said than done). \nMore airport screening at the entrance and more border security.

Why are you guys trying to target hardworking people? does anyone know the kind of benefits refugees get ? No cent has been paid in tax dollars by these people. Their rent is paid for by the government, their children's education is paid for, these guys have no clue about how to communicate in english. Students paid fees to get education here and gave exams to certify the level of english, I worked in Insurance and telecommunications sector and imagine explaining shit to these guys who are not interested in listening to how it actually works then come back and blame service reps for hiding facts. While it is their lack of comprehension of the language which is the actual problem. In Nova Scotia, there has been unthinkable amount of PRs given to students, who did not go to any of the Atlantic Canada Universities, came here for just gaining PR IN FOOD SERVICE SECTOR and then leave as soon as their cards were in the mailbox, While I spent 9 years here in Nova Scotia and still cannot apply due to such constraints caused by these people who keep moving here from Ontario just because their province would not approve their PR. No international student(or Indian) will come to Canada if there is no route to PR. Do you think Canadian colleges and universities are very high in the ranking list? Not at all. So imagine if students only had the option to return home after graduation, none will come to Canada and the economy will suffer. International students exploitation is happening on the federal level, then why bother with Provincial and colleges? These are temporary visas but ultimately, PR(settlement in a new country) is the goal, otherwise these students will not pack their lives and come over here.\n\nReference: I came to Canada in 2022 and left in early 2024. There are many reasons why I left but one I felt was the demographic shift and the amount of refugees that country accepts. People who apply to come to Canada as legal immigrants , have to go through a strict points system.that can take years . Plus medical and security checks.
