I had a friend that years ago she was living in the UAE. She was expected to cover up or else. Well being the rebel she is, she dared to show her shoulders. For this act of rebellion she was cut on her arms by a group of men. \n\nThis is the reality of Muslim countries. I agree with this law. For safety reasons. I have a few muslim women friends including two females family members that are muslim and they dont cover their faces. They also agree with this law. we all have the right to see the face of whom is around us. I also know one woman that is not muslim but dresses and covers her face like one. Why she does that I and my neighbours dont know why. She does not talk to anyone about it and only dresses that way when she goes out of the neighbourhood. What are her intentions to do such thing? She is portuguese does not speak arabic only portuguese and broken inglish. When we ask her why she does that we are told to mind our business. We feel that it is our business because she is very strange and like i said before she only dresses that way when she goes out of the area that she lives in. What is she up too? In general, people are not given to searching very hard for the truth. Being sinners, we humans are concerned with what pleases us-------the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life, as the Bible tells us. All this is sin, 'for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God' (Romans 3:23, New Testament). But islam so obviously uses religion to justify and cover up sin! Therefore those who are not brainwashed by it should be able to see through it, that it is a system of lies and oppression. \n\nIt is understandable when leaders of countries steeped in islam go along with it. I think honestly the Islamic face covering when the lady was collecting made people uncomfortable because as humans we read each others facial expressions. Also in the western world the face covering tends to be a symbol of how women are mistreated in the Middle East. If wearing a nikab or hijab or burka was a sign of respect and honor, we would all be walking around wearing bed sheets over our heads. That fact that only women are required to cover up is exactly why it is discriminating and a sign of male chauvinism by the muslim community and islam. Having grown up in the midwest of the USA, I find it offensive and oppressive to women to see them hiding under or behind a cloth garment. Talk to anyone who specializes in communication and you will quickly understand that there are many non-verbal communications from facial expressions that contribute to the way we humans communicate with each other. To suppress these facial expressions is like seeing without color and in black and white only. This is a fact of life and not open to debate.

I think both cultures are too severe/extreme. women covering their faces in hot summer while Canadian women stand waiting outside for taxis to go get drunk wearing skirts even hooker's wouldn't wear in the eighties. or wearing nylons as pants and that's it. where is modesty that doesn't make you almost pass out from heat exhaustion, or modesty that doesn't make you look like a hooker? where is that old saying......happy medium?

Muslims wear Burka or cover their face because. They can marry as many as 4 wives at a time. And sex slaves as much as their right hand posess so the Muslim women don't know their relative looking for his second or third wife in order to avoid becoming sexual target she chooses to cover her up. And Christian's can't convert her. Where as Muslim men go around converting Christian women initially and may even prowl on devorced working Christian women for their 3rd or 4th wives.

I am czech, we relatively recently (1989) get rid of totalitarian communists here.I just do not get how is it possible that Canada or Muslims in general are so welcoming to the totalitarian systems - where women are forced to cover the faces.
