I'm a refugee in Canada since 1999 and because I don't have two peices of id I can't do anything. Can't get a driver's licence, have a sin card but can't work and noone helps you fix your situation. Its bullshit nothing gets done without paying a lawyer

Trudeau, with his forked tongue, not only misleads natural born Canadians, but he also takes advantage of these immigrants. While ripping off the Canadian taxpayers to support the immigrants, he is ripping off the immigrants with false hope. Other than the radicalized muslims. Those just disappear into the land and join up with the many radical training camps within Canada's borders and nothing is done about that.

This silliest part of this story is that if he could write a resume listing all that construction work that he has done he could easily find work that pays comparable wages to what he gets in Canada or the US in most Latin American countries. And he wouldn't even have to deal with documentation problems and culture shock. Construction businesses in those countries would be delighted to have workers capable of working to North American standards.

Canada has done extremely well for Immigrants, and we spend a lot of money on making sure we get hard working decent citizens.. We've recently made it easier for people to immigrate here. We welcome it. But it does have to be done legally. And yes, I agree with everyone else here. 15 years in English countries, and doesn't speak it himself is disgusting. I feel for Jose, yet I wonder why he is not angry with his own government, with his own country for making him feel it was impossible for him to live and work in his own country. Why can he not go back there? How is that system lacking and what can be done to change it so that people don’t feel forced to leave. I find it odd that no one ever reports on these South American governments - what are they doing so wrong that their own citizens are refugees from their own country. Wanna come to Canada? Send literally 5 lbs worth of documents proving your age, credentials, work experience, knowledge of English (at least, sometimes French as well) wait 3-5 years and done. My grandpa had to learn French when he emigrated to Canada from Holland more than a hundred years ago. When him and my grandma emigrated to the United States, they learned English and gained citizenship. They only had two kids and my grandpa employed people who he refused to let go during the depression in the 1930’s. What have you done for our country?

This guy works hard; the manual labour he does isn't easy, and it's done in sub-zero weather (it can get down to -50 with windchill up near Edmonton). He's contributing to our economy and isn't a criminal; he's just trying to provide his family with a better life. For the same reasons my ancestors immigrated to Canada. Most of them didn't learn English for over 2 generations, but eventually we found our way and our culture became part of the broader Canadian culture. I hope the same happens for him and his family.

I could compared statistics all day, but some of the greatest counterpoints to Canada being better are the intangible attributes of the US. Academically, although Canada may rank higher on standardized tests of science or math, the US cultivates a culture of innovation, and the US is phenomenal at teaching students to challenge the status quo - the reason for so many cultural, scientific, technological innovations being done on American soil or by American minds. Furthermore, the culture in the US is irreplaceable - the amount of diversity, geographically, socially, demographically, makes the USA the great nation it is today.

Unfortunately, in Canada you have to wait years for things you could have in way less time in the states IF you can pay for it. I have seizures every day and am on a two year waiting list to have the necessary testing done. Despite being unable to work enough to support myself due to the episodes, because they are un-diagnosed, I do not qualify for disability assistance. I pay for health care through taxes, yet cannot receive timely care, or assistance while I wait. There are definitely pros and cons to each system.
