We’ve been here since more than a year now and we don’t have a car and we love the pollution free air here and the work life balance. If you live downtown, you don’t need a car as public transport is very convenient. If you don’t want to do things on your own and you definitely need the help from maids and so on, then Canada isn’t for you. It all depends on where you find a house. Very few people in downtown own cars. If you want to live a healthier life, Canada is a good place for that. We came in winters and settled with the help of relatives and thankfully it’s been good so far. Summers are amazing here. Job market is a struggle currently but it’s not permanent. And it is possible to find a job from India if you try for it. If you’re in IT, you don’t need to start from scratch. There are Indian stores almost everywhere and many Indian restaurants as well. You just need to find your place. And it’s an amazing place for plant based vegan people. Food quality is amazing and great safety restrictions. Healthcare also depends on where you live. If you find your people and friends and keep socializing with family, loneliness won’t be there. It’s better to move to a new country when you don’t have kids. \nAlso the accent gradually develops and there’s nothing to worry about. This place is very diverse and there are people with very different accents from all around the world. There is some struggle initially but it all depends on what your priorities are. Life here is very comfortable once you get used to the lifestyle here and the biggest thing is, work life balance and the quality of life. If you want to do things other than your job, this is a good place to do that. Kids also become much more independent here. Rest it all depends on what your goals in life are. Also one of the biggest factors is, if your partner/husband isn’t willing to help with housework or cooking, you can’t survive here. As simple as that. Many factors to consider.

Canada’s perversely high population growth continues to worsen our social cohesion, cost of living, education, healthcare, traffic safety, crime, pollution, natural ecosystems, and the list goes on. Why the IRCC and the federal government insist on increasing the numbers, despite a lack of support from the populace, baffles me and many Canadians I’ve talked to! Many are planning on or have already moved to the U.S.

I live in Toronto. Everything you talk about in Vancouver applies equally to here. Toronto has become, under socialism, the most expensive outdoor toilet in Canada. And our taxes are going up 16.5%, and mayor and city council have voted themselves a similar salary increase.

Canada's accepting too much of everyone. They need to close the doors. All of these newcomers are only exacerbating the existing housing shortage, driving up rental costs for everyone, and taxing our social and health care systems.

Canada is attracting the worst kind of international students, poorly educated, poor civic sense, rural men from Northern India esp Punjab. I said this many years ago, to my parents, you're going to see a collapse in social cohesion and we are seeing it in real time. This is having a disastrous effect on health care too, my father waited for 9 hours to get a scan, he lives with me now in the US and it took him 45 minutes to get a scan!!!

Canada is not proactively expanding our infrastructure and social services to accommodate this unnatural population growth. There needs to be a hard cap on immigration till Canada can address the current needs then start working on increasing capacity up until the point we are ready to reopen Canada to immigration.

I’m not sure what is meant by “making friends” exactly. In my opinion, finding people you can be open with and trust takes years, no matter where you live on this planet. So, for what it’s worth, I thought Calgarians to be easygoing, Montrealers to be outgoing but click-ish, and people in Ottawa kind of dull (at a social group level). I’ve only spent a couple of weeks in Vancouver as a traveler so I can’t really judge but my sister and a friend who both studied and worked in Vancouver - and who are both outgoing people- found it difficult to crack through social circles in Vancouver. They basically thought that Vancouverites are a little elitist/snobby.

Canadian economy is heavily natural resource based. She doesn’t do much high value added high tech manufacturing. Her industries and economic sectors are highly consolidated and do not provide that many jobs. These much immigrations would inevitably lower living standards and exacerbate social issues.

Too many international students , it will drive Canada down. It is not a money issue, but an environmental and social issues. Please slow down.

I used to teach and coordinate programs for international nurse, this is spot on - and I have always wondered about Canadian students getting into programs - we need Canadian students who are talented and want to study but cannot afford it. There is so much i could unpack. In general, most of the students are lovely and hard-working, but the intent in most cases is to get a PR status - so most of them stay. Many also are disappointed with Canada - as they may come from a place where they were in a different social class. I know many of my students now are productive members of Canadian society working in their chosen fields. I am proud of them - as the move was not easy and they left their families behind. Considering that most of the world is a collectivist culture versus our individualist culture of the West, there is much to adjust to. Good piece.

Immigration is out of hand. Our hospitals are overrun, plus all other services, and social programs. No country can sustain the effect of such an onslaught. What gives any government, elected by the people to look after their best interests, the power to over rule the will of the majority, when it comes to such matters. Reading levels for middle school have been adjusted to be that of fifth grade or lower.\n\n There are so many students GRADUATING from high school who can't read at a sixth grade level. They haven't seen the inside of a classroom except to socialize with friends. \n\n Why would universities want these students? So their failure or drop out rate can go through the roof? I came to Canada 35yrs ago from Singapore. The myth of coming to Canada to be rich is broken. People are living better lives in Singapore or Thaiand. What's wrong with United Arab Emirates. I heard they have a good economy. The only drawbacks: I think you need to have a fair amount of capital before they will accept you. And the cost of living is rather high. If I could speak Arabic that country along with Saudi Arabia and Kuwait would be one of my possible choices. The problem with Canada today is that the leaders are all completely inept, incompetent, and corrupt. I guess they think that Socialism is the way to go.

Canada is expensive because of the high levels of corruption everywhere: Government and Public Works are a joke. For instance, to change a street light post they use two trucks with telescopic baskets; almost in all public works, there is a huge number of heavy equipment most of the time unused, or just mimicking work, and add to that that institutions don't work as you would expect (Health, Police, Media)... For those who came from developing countries, most likely there is more efficiency and modernity in those countries. The other big negatives are the lack of a national culture, inexisting trasport from big cities to small ones, and also too little social life in big urban places. Normal people would survive all of that and stay, but the wokeism, push of the transgender agenda, cancel culture and the stupid racist anti-racism inclusive trends, are unbearable for the average, normal person witch children. But not all is bad, Canadian landscape is beautiful...

Funny thing, Halifax is bursting at the seams with new arrivals. It’s expected to double in size in the next decade. There’s another ethnic grocery store opening every week. Our population has grown by 10 million people in 20 years, largely due to immigration. Toronto is bursting at the seams and is the most polyglot city on the planet. I have noticed a lot of these whiny videos by immigrants who say it’s no good to move here. I think they are not telling the truth about the tsunami of immigration going on here in Canada right now. Trouble is, there’s not enough housing for the 40 million people here right now. There’s not enough doctors, nurses, hospitals, social services/workers to service our present population. Still, the government flaps its gums about wanting 100 million people here by 2100. If that’s true, southern Ontario will look like Tokyo. There has to be a reevaluation of putting the majority of new arrivals in the GTA. If people want to move here, they should be willing to go to smaller cities and towns across the country.

I lived in Toronto for almost 25 years but moved to Berlin, Germany, a few months ago. I found the last few years to be really sad and also scary. There is such a huge mental health crisis. The TTC is not very safe feeling. I have friends there who travel with dog or bear spray in their purses. The cost of rent is definitely a huge issue. A lot of friends can never move into a new place and I don't know anyone there who can afford to actually buy a home.\nThe positives are the food options (groceries and restaurants - some of the best in the world), the nice social life, so many things to see and do around the city, and the various beaches and islands.\nThe city is definitely looking uglier and uglier, though, with all of these boxy, glassy condo towers and now with Ford doing things like turning public space into a foreign-owned inaccessible spa.

Every place has its positives and negatives. Canada is beautiful, clean and green. The people are polite and friendly at a superficial level and the infrastructure is great. But for a new immigrant it's very difficult to make new social contacts or even to get a good job. The cost of living is high and housing costs are exhorbitant. The medical system is terrible with people having to wait weeks to meet a specialist \n\n Indian cities are mostly dirty, polluted and chaotic with poor infrastructure. There is rampant corruption and people can be rude and obnoxious especially while driving. But you can get help for everything and living costs are affordable. Plus the social contacts ..family and friends around are priceless. The medical system is way better provided you have some money.

I visited Toronto in 1986 and I've had friends from that city. The whole world is changing and facing the issues you mentioned in your video. I had lived in Seattle before its decline. I'm in Pittsburgh temporarily and I had lived recently in Erie, PA. They all seem to be facing the same situation--housing crisis, homelessness, and crime. And in Pittsburgh, limited social services.\n\nHowever, I'm sad to see a socialist country such as Canada suffer with these ills. If a socialist country can't take care of its people, there's little home for a capitalist country like the US.

Hey these are my last 15 days in Canada I have everything here good job but we are moving back for my son. Here zero social life for immigrants unless u have your relatives here already. Mg son goes to school for 4 hours and rest of the day we try to keep him busy in activities at home but we are humans too , not everyday we can keep him busy all the time away from I pad TV. I am frustrated seeing him like this. We are here since 2022 he was 2 years old now he is 3+. He has not a single interaction with other child in our apartment… just school time is interacting time for him with other kids .. as a mother I am depressed and taken decision to go back to my home … now I can see him playing outside and interacting with people…. I guess no one will want to settle in a Western society as there is a lot of stress _ loans, no job fairness, cost of living, drugs, the cost of energy bills, the cost of housing, poor transportation as one has to travel great distances each day to work, no quality family time _ and the way emigrants are not able to carry over their valuable experience or qualifications. The entire world is changing. Most major cities in the developed world are experiencing the same problems: increasing inequality, housing crisis, homeless, drug abuse. The only exception are the cities in Northern European countries like Finland where a human is not let to rot on the street. \nOur cities have to change even more to get better and accommodate the changing society. See friends, all the middle class and low class people in the world are suffering from the same problems. First there are no jobs, even if there are jobs they are misbehaved, mistreated, abused or exploited etc. Then what can be the solution for this problems? This is our common problem wherever we are living in. Just comparatively, some places are better but we don't have easy access to that special place. I think we can't escape this. There are always Big Brother and Subaltern in the world. I think there is no democracy where the voice is heard and justice,security in general,job after education,implementation of law,equitable social life is guaranteed in practice. The powerful dominates everywhere in the Nature. This law is applicable forever because there can be no complete ideal world. But we can just minimize if we involve in politics everywhere.

Let’s not circle the obvious here. These are the major problems in Canada that are greatly amplified and visible in the bigger metro areas:\n\n- Loss of economic opportunity due to the disastrous Liberal government policies of Justin Trudeau, with all the known bad social consequences.\n\n- Out of control immigration. Impossible for a country to absorb that many immigrants in a short period of time to make them productive and pay into the system.\n\n-Rampant and oppressive woke culture. If you disagree with it, you’re labeled anything from racist to transphobic. \n\n-Permissive liberal policies with drug abuse and mental illnesses.\n\n-Spineless Conservative politicians. This is changing, but boy is it taking long.\n\n-Canadian complacency and self-imposed politeness. The worst traits we have as a country. We basically don’t react to bad situations until the shit hits the fan.\n\nI’m hopeful for this country, but we still need to fall further down to do the changes we need to do.

Conclusion: Marry a super rich Canadian man or woman in Toronto. Americans used to hear only great things about Toronto over the past fifty years and how Toronto was so much better than a lot of run-down, economically depressed, high-crime American cities. To hear a lot of Canadians on social media dissing their own major cities is astonishing and most troubling. No one thought Canada would ever hit the rocks so soon. What in the heck happened to you, Canada?

Back in the mid-20th century, the peoples of central Africa and North Africa fought ferocious guerrilla and insurrectionist wars to eject the hated white man colonizers who came in a century prior and took their land. Understood. Got it. The insurrectionists and guerillas were fervent they could run their own countries more efficiently and with more compassion than the white man. Got it. The African insurrectionists got meaner, resorting to terrorism, kidnapping, torture, brutal murder, planting explosives in shops and restaurants, mounting hit-and-run submachine attacks day and night on the populace, white and black and north African. Don't believe me, look up the old news films from the period.\n The insurgents, insurrectionists, revolutionaries, guerillas, partisans, and outright terrorists succeeded. White man gone. Fast forward to the 21st century. What do you see? Failed nation states. Lack of social and economic stability. Countries still with poor hygienic standards and low medical care. Famine. Hunger. High unemployment.\n What happened? Mostly....corruption, aggravated by increasing drought conditions over the past seventy years.\n What do you see today? Descendents of those once ferocious revolutionaries and insurgents who were willing to sacrifice their lives resorting to terrorism and murder, now risking life and limb by jumping into rickety boats to cross stormy seas and enter the countries of their former European oppressors. France and Italy are among the most astonished of all. \n Canada was not a colonial power yet look at all the migrants from Africa, desperately seeking a better life. Their forebearers promised far better than their European occupiers but delivered even less because everybody has their hand in the till and is lining their pockets. When a visitor has to pay government employees bribes for them to do their jobs, you know you've visited a failed state. Bring up the subject of institutionalized and cultural widespread corruption and they get defensive and angry, still blaming everyone else for their own failures.\n One of the more common solutions over the past twenty years, accepting huge, high-interest loans from the Red Chinese government that they cannot repay, is now coming back to bite them in the keister.

As a Torontonian born and raised here it’s had a couple shifts in feel over the past decades. Around the mid 90s, there was an increase of gun violence, crime and theft in the city which caused my family to move out to the burbs. I moved back during the 2009 recession for higher education at one of the institutions downtown. At that time, there wasn’t much violence at all. We went out til the wee hours of the morning from Fashion district (Queen and Richmond) to Honest Eds (Bathurst and Bloor), to Yonge and Dundas square. There were still some homeless people then, but fast forward to now, it’s gotten aggressive. Instead of the homeless people keeping in their camps, but now, they have been displaced, are angry, mental health issues are rampant and incidents can happen anywhere. I think we have the right mayor in place now to make some positive changes for the social issues in the city and I am optimistic that we can get it cleaned up over time. For now though, I agree with the sentiment, come for a visit, but maybe skip out on living here until the social issues get sorted. You always have to keep an eye on the back of your head these days.

Post ANY EVIDENCE that people are leaving the country. ANY EVIDENCE. All I see are a bunch of whiny folks, like yourself, sitting on social media and whining about leaving. I know people who immigrated from England and realised after a few years that they just couldn’t go back. The quality of life here was just that much different and they had acclimatised to it, so I can’t imagine where you’re thinking that you can go in the world where the quality of life for a Muslim family who has grown up in Canada will be better.\nOnly one of your four criteria will be satisfied. No country is a utopia. We typically hear about what all the wonderful things a place supposedly has, then you learn the whole story. The best way to really learn about a country is to read or watch books or movies meant for the locals, where they typically describe problems that occur, such as crime, corruption, social mores and such.
