As an American I look forward to this trade war with Canada. I've never respected Trudeau as a leader and I don't respect him now after a speech. As an American I stand in solidarity with Canada, this is not how you treat allies let alone close neighbors. There are no winners in trade wars, sadly a fact that seems to escape Trump.

I voted for Trump, but it's hard not to agree with Trudeau on this even though I find this guy to be extremely unpleasant. There's no reason to start trade wars all over the world and in particular with our neighbors. It's one thing to threaten tariffs and a very different thing to actually apply them. If you do it has to be accompanied by a lot of diplomacy so that the other country is not overreacting, but Trump has been super combative prompting our neighbors to respond in kind to save face. While past deals may not have been great for US, this is not the way to handle our differences. Billionaires like Trump and his friends will be fine, but the majority of ordinary folks in the US and Canada will suffer. Very dumb, indeed.

It irritates me that Trump attacks canada for fentanyl and illegal immigration when its the other boarder that is the vast majority supplier. Trump has not given a resoanble or justifiable reason for these tarrifs in my mind. Its a shame as some of Trumps ideas and plans I agree with but so far the vast majority of his action has not been. I have been visiting canada frequently for my outings, if I go oit for dinner or entertainment ive been making a 1 hr drive to do so, vs a 45 minute drive to seattle. I will continue to soend every leisure dollar in canada untill this tarrif trade war is corrected.

For days, they’ve been misleading the public with talk of imposing tariffs on U.S. goods or cutting power supply, but that’s not the real issue. \n \nWhat truly matters is how our government is actively mitigating the economic impact. Are they securing new markets? Have they repaired strained relations with China, which were damaged in 2021 over the arrest of Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou to appease the U.S.? Are we expanding oil exports to Japan, India, or China? Have we dispatched trade delegations worldwide to open new opportunities? \n \nWrong move. Canada doesn't have a functioning government. There is no mandate. The Prime Minister has resigned. Parliament is not in session. There is no reason to escalate. As a Korean, I stand for Canada and Mexico. Mr.Trump is messing up USA badly and treating USA alliances as an enemy. Canada was requested numerous times to help stop the flow of fentanyl which Mexican cartels trafficked that killed 200,000 Americans. Trudeau's reply is only 1% of fentanyl comes through Canada.. even though they don't properly secure the border and everyone knows the amount is significantly higher.\nTrudeau ran to Mexico to sweet talk THEM into mutual trade deals rather than assist the US stopping Mexican cartels.\n\nTrudeau should be arrested and tried by military tribunal for his participation in 200,000 deaths.
