If the government people and judges owned those houses and condos and were not getting rent, pretty sure they would change things quickly

I opened a business in Canada with a partner in 1974. By 1985, in spite of having a successful business, I moved to the US in 1985, and have never looked back. Canada was moving in a direction in the 80’s, that I could see was no longer a fit for me. I never believed that Canada would sink as low as it has, but I have to admit, compared to the US, it was becoming far too regulated, and far too Liberal for my liking.\nThe open immigration policy for me, was a complete deal breaker, and its current shift to being a Muslim, East Indian, Chinese, and African country, would not have worked for me, as a Canadian Protestant of English, Irish, and French descent. I know for a fact that the Chinese are extensively involved in the current synthetic drug crisis, and although there are many law abiding Chinese in Canada, they serve to camouflage the Chinese underworld that exists in Canada, as they do in Mexico, that allows them to pipeline these drugs to Canada, which is being destroyed by this crisis. All said, Canada is becoming a crime ridden, drug infested Muslim shithole, where Canadians can look forward to sharing this demise with their Chinese, and East Indian neighbours.

Most of Chinese students would apply to top tier university and majors only, if they didn't got in they switch to other countries like AU or UK, US or just go back to china. However a lot of indians doesn't care about the college rating or even major, they just came here to work anyway.

I had been living in Germany for a very long time, before I moved to the Netherlands several years ago. If we compare DE to NL, than I would indicate the following main advantages of each country:\n\n?? 1) low prices for food and relatively low rental prices for apartments (the prices in NL are at least two times higher) 2) the enterprises are more willing to invest in their employees (in NL you must be already a very skilled/talented worker) 3) if we speak about the German health care system, then you can directly approach a specialist without visiting your GP, even though you must wait an eternity for your Termin (in NL is your huisarts always a key decision maker). 4) The Germans are more friendly towards foreigners (probably because they made a lot of experience with them, due to the mass immigration)\n\n??1) much lower taxes and premiums 3K net salary = 4,2K list salary = 5,2 K premiums (in DE the same 3K net=5K list=8K premiums, of course approximately). 2) much much less courts/lawsuits/warnings about every crumb (have you ever heard about the German Abmahnindustrie???) 3) the young people in NL are the priority (even if we compare the Corona pandemic time, the whole German society strongly prioritized the older ones) 4) much more order in the cities/villages and much less pre-conventional/spoiled immigrants/freeloaders (step out from the same train in Aachen and in Maastricht- you will instantly notice the difference!).\n\nHope to have informed you all sufficiently ??

As someone who has lived in Germany for almost 9 years and speaks C2 German, this is my take: \n- I understand the language requirements are necessary , but they are more often than not completely unrealistic unless you started with the language at a young age or you have lived in Germany for many years. \n- The bureaucracy and hurdles to obtain visas and permits are absurd. It is literally easier to throw away your passport and claim asylum than go the legal way to obtain permanent residence or citizenship. This is crazy, the government needs to reform this. \n- Cost of living is high and wages are ok, but the taxes are way too high. It is frustrating to give away so much for a government that malinvests much of that money.\n- Due to the high costs and relatively low real income, it is hard to build up wealth. \n- The culture is also not easy to adapt to. Even though I master the language and have many German friends, I still deeply have the feeling I don’t belong. I am ok with that, I still love the country and its people, but it’s not for everyone. \n\nIf you are a highly skilled worker with no previous connections to Germany, I don’t see many reasons anyone would pick it over other rich countries.

This September I'll be 7 years in Berlin and one thing I didn't know that would have changed my decision completely is that you can only apply for credit for a car, credit card or even a house only with permanent residence.

TEN THOUSAND to go to a commercial drivers (truck driver) school in Canada? Can someone from Can confirm that? In the US at a community college it would cost about 1-3K. You can also get some Gov Grants to attend truck driving (CDL) community college? It cant be 10K?

And I thought Canada was supposed to be better than this. In the US she would have been removed by police after 90 days with no option to appeal.

Murica is the one and only country I moved to for 4 years and I bought 5 rental properties in my homeland all thanks to the money I made. Now I am building my own business in order to move to the States permanently. The US is the one and only country I would love to be in. Loved the country living ? best sh*t ever.

Terrible reporting. The claim that immigration is what's behind the rising cost of living, especially housing, is very much NOT an obvious fact such that you would need to consult economists to even get anywhere near an answer. Interviewing random people off the street might help with exposing potentially racist sentiment but it does little to shed light on the truth of the matter.

Governments are lying to potential immigrants. I work with a guy who said he was told that his qualifications would be recognized when he landed and to not worry about anything. Upon arrival he applied for a job in his field and was told that his qualifications were not recognized. He was then told that he wold have to complete the equivalent of 4 years night school to receive accreditation. He wonders why he came but cant afford relocate back to his original home since it was sold and they used everything to come to a western country. He wasnt prepared for the cost of living and is now stuck in a country even he doesn't want to be in.

Don’t forget central banks have created hundreds of billions of dollars for the covid and before that, to try to boost the eaconomy. This money has mostly been concentrated in fewer hands. I would be interested to see who owns most of the houses in canada and wester countries, and more important, the trend. Money goes to money. it's NOT free, after all taxes combined on an annual basis I'm paying around 60% taxes, carbon taxes, pst, gst, luxury taxes on cars over 50 k, all manner of hidden taxes, no health care is definitely not free. My health care plan in the US was 155 a month, my share, employer paid the rest, a good plan. But I took home 22% more of my income, which is massive on an annual basis, I was very rich down there, coming back to Canada it's sad, give the government all that money for what exactly? Can't think of one thing I ask the government for, but you know I'm self reliant, so self reliant people don't thrive in Canada. If I had lived in the US my whole life, same job/income I would be living a life multiples better than Canada.

All I have to say is then leave. I was born in this country in 1956 yes we have a bad government, housing costs and inflation. Where would you like to move to say; India where being a woman you stand a good chance of being raped as what happened to that nurse. Or the U.S. where guns seem to be more important than human life.

I am a Serbian and Canadian living in Canada for the last 24 years. I love \nthis country I respect this country but my God is so much different than it used to be or it is me. This summer I went with my kids and wife to 6 different countries in Europe Eastern Europe and Central and have seen 2 alcoholic then I come to Canada I see thousands of drug addicts on the street. everything is overpriced ppl do not enjoy in here. When I came in 2000 Serbian economy was low due to the war now it is better and Canadian economy is worse so the gap is very small. you need to make 6000$ to live just ok and I do live well but there is always but. I call it a pressure cooker, I wish all Canadian travel abroad a bit just to realize that they were lied too and that there's a lot of bs. I can give you an example: Condo in Belgrade same size property tax is 200$ per year condo in Qc Gatineau 2500$ plus condo fees 400$ per month basically 7000$ wasted for what? no dr wholes on the street broken system. It will be for sale. I agree paying taxes on my house where I live but for rental property when you deduct all the expenses you invested so much money without any profit. the one that works and the one that scams the system make the same amount of money and we live approx the same. something is wrong there. I will live for many years to come but definitely not spending my whole life here due to many circumstances and expenses. Family values are getting killed and I have issues with that. The more I was pushed to change the more I went to church and believed in old fashioned traditional values. As you said I will always be grateful for what I made but working hard for two jobs in the last 20 years I would make that somewhere else too. Canada has changed too much since I came that's for sure. What triggers me the most fake approach when ppl say I make 100k wow then you didn't get that, that is only on the pay stub. how much did you get 50k that is the real money then you need to add deductions house tax this tax, sewage, water it comes less and less and then you realize that in reality you make more but you spend so much more with less quality of life. who cares how much you make the question is how do you live with the amount that you make.?

Yet when the prices of housing was going up, many homeowners loved it, even though it meant that the poor, the actual poor and not you lot, were stacked like firewood into smaller and smaller rooms with no AC so it was hot in the summer and freezing in the winter and the slum lords are having a hey day. \nThe actual first nations people are homeless and being killed daily and are arrested for being poor daily but you lot think you have it bad. \n\nSorry, when non first nations people say that they will leave Canada because its not how they remember it when they were kids and its worse now so they will jump ship to gentrify other nations, I just shake my head and hold open the door as you leave the nation and wonder at your arrogance and egoism.

I am in New York and I have been thinking for a while now... but I happen to be a civil servant - this type of job is comfortable, but not re-locatable. So for me this would be even more major. I don't think Germany is any way open for skilled workers. It's actually closed and every path is a dead end for those who think Germany could be a better option in Europe. German language is hard to learn for non linguistic people, and when you make too much burden upon a person's shoulders how would he or she be happy to move on to!

US as a better place to go?have you tried to get a green card, checked the rents in cities Like San Francisco or NYC, their health care, non existing public transport, graduate debts at the end of uni, gun crime....??? I'm a Canadian living in the UK and can say two things - 1) if the West would stop bombing/exploiting/waging proxy wars in so many countries and displacing millions of people, this wouldn't be an issue. Stop funding war and pressure your reps to focus public funds back into your community. 2) The exploitative housing market has everything to do with corporate greed. We need to hold government and capitalism to account not immigrants. Blaming humans for wanting to survive is insane.

This is CRAZY you not allowed to miss you mortgage payments or property tax but you somebody can miss rent for years and the system would protect them. As an Indian working in DE core mechanical area, the salary package is pathetic. The situation is not going to change any soon. My friends in IT just earn high salaries hardly doing any job comparing to what me and my team does. So if it is IT i would not say Germany is bad for immigration. \nSoon I will be moving out to other places where there are better packages. German arrogance in this regard is backfiring their economy. They just screw it themselves.

Well, I am leaving, yes. Although I am very grateful with Germany, I work in IT, and I don't hold a diploma, but I have more than 20 years of experience in the field, I always been offered jobs beneath my experience, only because of a paper. I am Italian and was very enthusiastic when I arrive 4 years ago, but the way I was treated was mostly bad, that led me not wanting to study the language anymore, people were so agressive in the streets. When I needed the back of the justice, it was never on my favour, even when I was right, as I was hit in the street by a stranger who made my face bleed, police said that it was nothing and that it was the opposite, even when they had evidence. I was mistreated at a hospital in Schwabing, München and medical attention was refused, police didn't help and they requested my to litereally scream for help, and I did because I was bleeding on a place I didn't know, with -4 degrees, without any jacket. I even tried with the discrimination line, which doesn't work, and if you write them an Email, they will say they cannot help. I Will never understand that level of cruelty, not to mention 5000 Euros I had to pay for a ticket, because I suppousedly scratch the car of a person and because my Kaution was never returned, tried, but never got a lawyer, because you need to pay for the air you breathe in this country. ARD, what is that? You pay for the right of internet, and you pay internet as well, the desorganization with the states is massive, and often times, you will get a letter in your box post having to pay somehting else. My energy and money was completely drained. I just had it. Despite of everything, this country tought me great things, like discpline and hard work which I really appreciate and will take this knowledge...somewhere else. I also became better human being as a result of being exposed to all of the bad things. But I am isolated case, not everyone goes through these things, I did, and to me it was more than enough to wanting to Auf Wiedersehen. Unfortunaly Germany prefers to keep people who did not come to the country to add something, crazy as it seems, they would allow more people who rape, do not respect their culture and commit other crimes, instead of really welcoming people who came here to have a better life. Germany is currently too focused on other countries problems and failed on attending the needs of their citizens and the citizens who came to live here, including europeans, as myself. Because of the mainstream media we Canadian want to be more alike the US and even some of us would die to be part of the States. And the result is that, we have more inequality, violence, homeless, and our life quality has been steadily in a decline.

Then Canada should’ve thought this through and should’ve attracted the right kind of immigration talent like doctors and economists. It would’ve been a win-win situation for the Canadian people and the immigrants.
