I had an american friend tell me that Trump did a good job cause N Korea and Russia didn't bomb the US while he was in office. \n6.

We have McDonalds and Starbucks here in Canada, even in small towns PLUS we have Tim Hortons everywhere! I have lived in both countries and much prefer Canada. The very idea of another Trump presidency makes me literally ill. In Alberta our healthcare is free, no monthly payment and there is affordable drug coverage both through private and provincial government provided. The Canadian education system is far superior.

There are some exceptionally beautiful areas of the US. The coastlines of California and Florida are dreamy. The Grand Canyon is unbelievable. Many different beautiful states. There are also nice people, and amazing cultural spots. Lots of great things to see. But alas, healthcare, the prevalence of guns, and a very scary political atmosphere make it quite unappealing. Many parts of the southern US will also be unpleasant to live in as the climate warms.

The single issue I would have would be the healthcare one. But as of now, this year of our lord 2023, Canada is on a slip-n-slip straight to socialist hell. And I would have a difficult time finding any other reason not to choose the US. Even with the health care, since the pandemic - and possibly because of mass firings - our system has been so stressed it's now actually as dire as Americans have always believed it was. On top of that, people in need of life saving surgery's are being refused if they haven't been jabbed, people are literally bring left to die. We have a housing crisis and a homelessness crisis, so what does our government do? Brings in a bunch of economic migrants to further stress our system. All in all, the US would be a much better option today.

American health care is way way better. In Canada you are treated like a number and major inconvenience in the healthcare system

I'm in my 50's and have thought about it many times. My dad is from NY but now in Florida. Several things that bother , me include your attempt at healthcare ( if you take care of one person you take care of ALL of them - you don't Cherry Pick), your gun issues (just because you have the RIGHT to bear arms, doesn't mean you have to), women's healthcare, Jeez, it's the woman's body not a guys body, so stay out of a woman's rights and body unless you happen to be her gyno. My Forefathers left Ohio 5 generations back. I visited Detroit, California, New Mexico, Florida. I am wary of further travel there.I worked in Health care for 36 yrs and never presented a bill. In BC everyone gets basic healthcare without charge. As I am retired I purchase supplemental insurance for dental etc.

I have travelled to the USA for20 years.I have enjoyed so many cities. However, if I didn't have to travel to the USA ( I have family) I wouldn't. There are too many mass shootings, School shootings, too many guns. Watching women rights return to the 1800’s is horrifying. To me it appears that rights are being taken away. Your Supreme Court is corrupt. What is going on with their politics? It's getting very ugly. Finally, our healthcare system has issues, but if you get sick, it's here. I would never live in the USA.

We moved from Canada to WA and after many years we moved back. Healthcare was fantastic in US but so many things your insurance will say are or are not covered. People very friendly. I miss the shopping in US such a great selection!

I never want to move down in United States first of all they don't have free healthcare they don't have free medication while some medication and their food does not taste like ours I've tried their Pizza Hut that I found was totally disgusting they're McDonald's was totally different also lots of flies in this in the restaurant around where they make the hamburgers and that they're washing very filthy women's washroom overpopulated and you never know when you're walking on the street when you're going to get killed by a gun at least where I live it's a slower pace it's starting to become crazy with the homeless and people that like to make trouble but they're still not that much guns because we don't allow it it's more safe we can still walk on the streets without anything happening happening even at night where I live it's a slower pace the air quality is also better it's not muggy as much as the states a lot of places people here are more friendly but just like it here I was born here

I am English, I live in the US. The religion, politics, healthcare and racists are evident everyday. Healthcare is part of my employment package, I have paid thousands out of pocket, even with that coverage. I think you are not looking to deep!

We considered it but the lack of universal health care and the inflated costs associated with the necessity of medical turned us away. A country that large doing great economically really needs to evaluate how they spend tax dollars. Healthcare should be top priority

No, no and no! It's not the same, other places - we have free education - free healthcare - strict gun laws, you have to get a special and specific permit and have a special gun safe! I appreciate that you are open to hearing these comments- as hard as that might be. Canadians do love our US next door neighbours- most of the US is lovely, most people are good, yes good opportunities exist there. BUT, we have that here in Canada too. So the tipping points about female bodily autonomy, never really worrying about our children’s school safety, EVERYONE being able to get good healthcare (no insurance required), and the more inclusive attitude to people of different sexual orientation/cultures/race makes this country the better option, in my opinion.

As a American there is a lot of things to say, I want to in the future duel with the uk/eu or Canada. I’m surprised they haven’t talked about the high excelation of racism, and as a Asian person it hasn’t been fun. Until we at the lowest minimum (not my actual minimum) fix our healthcare system is close to nhs that is basically free healthcare payed by your taxes, then I don’t see much people wanting to go to the states; aside from maybe university. There is a lot that plays a role, but in my eyes living in Cali or Portland or Seattle or nyc are the better places. One thing that I’ll say is though we need higher wages, I think that is kinda something we get more at times than other countries to a extent.

My parents were snowbirds for decades. At the end of their stay, they owned a small place in Safford, AZ. I spent all my vacations wherever they were, Texas, other parts of Arizona. I loved exploring the US with them - Dodge City, KS, Tombstone, Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Capital Reef, Gila Cliff Dwellings, to name just a few. Multiple National Parks over their 30 years of winter stays. \n\nThe US is beautiful and steeped in history. We met some really nice people, and even loved a few of them (but not in a weird way).\n\nMy parents sold their place just before Trump became president (on purpose), and none of us have been back since.\n\nDon’t get me wrong, we have our share of ignorant and uneducated people, but most of ours don’t have guns. \n\nAnyways, I digress. Never, not once did we ever consider becoming American Citizens. Especially since Trump (OMG).\n\nWe love our country, even though it’s not perfect. For example, you’re not charged for your 5 minute consultation with a medical professional - all too often eager to write you a prescription, tell you you’re fine, and get the next healthcare number in the door (after his piss/smoke/coffee/shit *[in that order]* break) - and for which you just waited 45 minutes past the appointment time, getting sneezed on by at least 6.48 different people in the waiting room. But the pharmacy doesn’t take that prescription note as payment for whatever re-labelled chemical lobotomy Dr. Duckweed has planned for you, that’s coming out of your pocket! Unless you have health benefits from your job, private health & life insurance is the *superior* (but like how Borat says it) option.

Crippling cost of higher education, gun culture that I'll abstain from judging further, crippling cost of healthcare, many large cities with housing crisis similar and sometimes worse than our own cities, cities built around car ownership instead of prioritizing efficient public transportation.\nI would visit family but not live there. I must say that listing only the deal breakers is unfair considering the great pros for moving there but dealbreakers are what they are. Im ? glad the USA is there and as it is. I like visiting the U.S. on occasion. There are some very nice state parks and natural wonders. I like that both our countries all drive on the same side of the road. I like that we all speak English. So it's easy to get around. People in the U.S. are generally very nice if you stay away from densely populated places. But playing roulette on the healthcare is already enough to dissuade me. Then there is the (lack of) gun control. I am adventurous. I do love to travel. But I never want to give up my glorious Canadian lifestyle. Even with its flaws, I am not convinced anywhere else is better.

As a Canadian, I and many of my fellows tend to see the US in several major issues, mostly concerning:\n\n- great innovative spirit and tech (pro)\n- crazy/insane gun access (BIG con)\n- school shootings (child safety - BIG)\n- Precarious healthcare access (BIG)\n- employer culture that thrives by abusing employees (BIG)\n- child labour to prop up a cheap-price economy (BIG)\n- women's rights (BIG)\n- political extremism, lobbies, and anti-democratic governance (the Electoral College is garbage, and the lobbyist-pandering and jerrymandering is nightmare fuel).\n\nI am sure most Americans are decent people, but their country seems to run so poorly, indifferent to their wellbeing, and itd economy is built on the suffering and abuse of the most vulnerable and desperate (wage theft, unethicalemployment practices, little real social support when things go wrong).

I had a friend whos family split up and all 4 children and their mom ended up down in Philadelphia somewhere (some cult/religious thing she got into that started the whole divorce ect) and they would come back to Canada for visits. When he would explain going to school, having to walk through metal detectors on the way in, guarded by cops with SMG's I just couldn't fathom what he was talking about or why it would be needed. Luckily I managed to convince him to stay one time when he came and visited and still lives here. Personally I'm considering moving with how hostile my government here in Canada has become to anything oil/gas/nuclear/fertilizer. My trade (Steamfitter/Pipefitter) is being reduced to shut down work only and I have some family down in Texas and its pushing me more and more to start looking elsewhere for work. However I'm single, if I had a family there would be no way id leave. As good of healthcare you have down there (way better than most if not all of Canada in relation to wait times and expertise), one long illness or something and they drop your health care? Your screwed. Plain and simple.

I am a Canadian and I love the cheaper gas and groceries but I’d never live there. I’ve been in and out of hospitals had about 10 surgeries so far at 46 and I’m transgender I could never survive there. When I use to live in Windsor Ontario and lived across from Detroit I use to go over to buy groceries and gas but that enough for me. No offence to anyone it just wouldn’t work for me. I’m proud to be a Canadian and I live in Nova Scotia Canada and health care sucks in the sense waiting for things like surgeries and MRI takes a long time I know someone who waited 2 years for one but it is free and I would probably be dead if I had to pay for healthcare so I’ll stay here.

As a Canadian that lived in the U.S. for 12 years I will say that the reason I moved back to Canada is healthcare. Yes I had healthcare through work while I was in the U.S., but every single year it got more expensive and my deductible continued to increase. By the time I decided to move back to Canada my deductible was 5 thousand dollars (If I would have put my family on my plan the deductible would be doubled to 10 thousand). So i basically never went to the doctor for preventative care because I knew I was going to pay an arm and a leg for it. The only reason I continued to pay for the healthcare at all was so that if I fell and broke my spine I wouldn't lose my entirely net worth.

There is a greater entrepreneurial spirit in the USA, so you can get richer there - if you are lucky. That is about the only good reason for moving there. About 400 school shooting per year in the USA - more than one a day, on average. I drove down the DelMarVa peninsula, and the racism was obvious, and rampant, but Americans I talked to did not even notice! The healthcare thing is another biggie for staying in Canada. I know I would never move to the USA.

I have lots of relatives & friends in the U.S. but, the lack of universal healthcare, the proliferation of guns & the emphasis on the individual instead of community is a huge turn off. That's a nope for me.

My nearest hospital has a air ambulance helicopter. In America a Regular ambulance can cost you up to 5k and An air ambulance in the USA can go upto $36,000.\n\nin Ontario i'd pay NOTHING for a regular ambulance and 45 Dollars for the helicopter You're not even in the hospital And we're already talking stupid amounts of money

In Canada the media and the government just exploites american gun violence to strip away the little right we have left in regard to guns. Much of that fear is overblown. As for healthcare, it has it's up and downs. People get all excited with our free but lame health service and always forget to say that it ain't really free. We are over taxed for it. In Quebec I pay around 35% income tax plus 15% purchase tax plus the gas and alcool that is taxed at a higher rate. On top of that we get two carbon taxes that in the end we are the ones paying for it. Over half of our income goes in taxes. I'm pretty sure that 99% of the time, in the US, you get more and better services for less money. Not saying that US is better than Canada. I think that depending where you live, it evens out.

Also, speaking of health care, as Canadian visiting in the US, if you wind up in hospital for a long time, it's cheaper for the insurance companies to air ambulance us back to Canada than to pay the US healthcare bills

I read somewhere that over 125 Million Americans live with chronic health conditions. That's a lot of people who would struggle to survive with for profit healthcare.

The truth is Canadians are leaving Canada in record numbers because cost of living here is to high even for doctors, New comers are forced to live on the streets because we have no homes available for them. They could get a job making minimum wage wich is about $1900 but a one bedroom starts at $2,300. Little to no healthcare available to an average citizen, you have a %10 chance of getting a doctor... Tyler! I'm sorry, but you're wrong. Guns are now the number one cause of death of American children and absolutely a factor for many Canadians as to why we'd never live there. As a mixed race family, I would fear for my husband's and children's lives on a daily basis. If it isn't in the schools, it's at malls, concerts, shopping centers, Walmart, everywhere!! Not to mention police brutality, specifically toward black men in America. It's a giant nope sandwich for me. Add to that the lack of socialized Healthcare and failing public education system, there's a reason we fly OVER the US and head straight to the southern America's or overseas even for vacations. Nothing about the US seems safe for our family.

We spent most of our free time playing different RPGs over the years together. Around 9 years ago she came down with some kind of a illness and thank goodness she had healthcare through her job. The thing is though the system couldn't/wouldn't identify what was causing her decline in health. She went through all kinds of tests but became sicker and sicker in years to come. She died in October of 2021 but before she died we both wondered if the health care system was just milking her insurance and not really taking proper care of her. BTW she lived in SLC Utah. Going back to your gun culture though she felt safe living in SLC the mall she went too had a mass shooting and she also carried a pistol in her purse. ( she had a permit ) I have never known any woman in Canada who felt that she needed to carry a gun in her purse for safety.

The usa is number one in gun deaths. Since 1953 103,000 service members have died during war. In the past 3 years over 150,000 civilians have died from guns in their own country. usa is a nightmare country to move to. Of the 30+ first world nations that have national healthcare usa isn’t on that list. How fucked up is that?
