After comparing the following from country to country: Women's reproductive rights. LGBTQ acceptance. Health Care. Gun violence. Overt racism. Criminal misconduct of politicians. Cleanliness of cities. Infrastructure degradation. To name a few. I have to admit Canada is the better choice. We (Canada) are not perfect and have to still work on making our country better for all who live in Canada. I am a 72 year old male and to this day I thank my lucky stars that both sets of my grandparents immigrated to Canada and not the USA. I also know that I am very fortunate to have lived my entire life here in Canada. I have travelled to many places outside of Canada and have always been well received by the people of those countries and appreciate the good reputation we (Canadians) have around the world.

It is to scary with all the mass shootings and insanity of the political goings on in the government with so much corruption. Nobody cares about hollywood, disney and all the woke crap you have in sports. I have travelled there often and found the everyday american people very friendly but won't be visiting anymore as I just don't feel safe.

These idiots are not eligible to travel on flight.

In terms of family safety and investment I would never move to the U.S.A. When I do travel across the border I make sure I have two sources of medical coverage in case I get ill or have an accident, as I know I might as well jump off a bridge if I end up in the hospital with an illness requiring surgery. Though I do appreciate the grit of Americans and the absolute hell the working class has been through this last decade, I do wish you all the very best and my heart is with you.

No we are not a better America. We have a sane country, no guns, no militarized police, a democracy, a parliamentary form of government and a King as our Head of State. A Trump would be impossible up here. We elect a party not a leader. One non-confidence in parliament and our Vice Regent, the Governor General would inform the King and parliament would be closed for a new election. We also have no ridiculous nearly 250-year-old Constitution. Our Consitution is based upon the British North American Act. We can revise it anytime with the Governor General's permission (and the King's). We are a peaceful nation and do not think like Americans. But I'd travel in the North East US. America''s fixation with patriotism is nauseating.

Grew up in a border city; travelled extensively through 46 states. Canada may have issues but the USA has major problems. My answer - Nope.

I hear a lot of my fellow Canadians question if travelling to the United States is even worth it nowadays, stating concerns over political violence, shootings, etc.

I turned down offers to work in the US, but have moved to the UK for a 3 year period, and a part of a year in the Netherlands. Also turned down South America and Taiwan mainly due to language. I used to travel to the US but only NY NY in the last decade. No real issues just little reason. There are many nice places in the US, but like in Mexico, needing to know where not to go seems like too much work.

I grew up in a border town always going over to New York state which I loved doing. I also love traveling within the U.S (going to Florida in 3 months) but to live there ?? Maybe!? I think if I met someone from there I'd definitely consider it, but to move there for no reason ? No . For me I feel like it's more of a don't knock it till you try it kinda thing

I think the US has beautiful countryside and wonderful scenery and many lovely people, however, because of the divisiveness of the Republicans and the MAGA/Trump/NRA group which has caused such chaos and violence throughout the States during the past decade things in the US have gone downhill extremely quickly. The number one reason Children in the US are dying from is bullets - not accidents or diseases. That is a terrible statistic and the Republicans are doing absolutely nothing to stop it - prayer doesn’t stop bullets. \nAs a Canadian I used to travel to the US as a tourist but I no longer feel safe going there and will no longer go across the border. Florida seems to have implemented the worst political policies ever in its history and I believe it’s economy is going to absolutely crash. \nIf the States votes Republican in the election it’s going to be in its absolute worst possible political, global, financial, economic, and humanitarian position in its history. It will be a critical crisis for the country….

Tyler, more than one child is getting shot every day in the US. In 2021 900 children under the age of 16 were killed by homicide. If you take the statistics up to age 20, over 3000 are killed by homicide. Let’s say that more than 5 children are killed by homicide in the US every day. No, I wouldn’t. I just moved from Vancouver to London, uk. Lots of people asked why I didn’t move to New York. Main reason is health care. I’m a self employed hairstylist and no one is providing health care for me. Second is gun violence in general, mass shootings are a big issue, just because it hasn’t happened in your small city, doesn’t mean it won’t. Mass shootings are just the most extreme version of gun violence. I don’t want the people walking down the street next to me to possibly be carrying a gun on them. That is truly terrifying to me. Third is that politics are so extreme and so prevalent. Lastly the fact that women’s rights are being taken away. I absolutely cannot support a country with very little benefits and aid for those who cannot afford to have a child, that then makes them have a child. That’s the briefest way I can explain my feelings, I could go on and on, but I’ll leave it at that. \n\nThe only benefit I see in moving to the us from Canada is for certain opportunities, and those come in big cities, so there’s absolutely no point in moving to then live in a small city. \n\nI appreciate that you’re being introspective as you go through the video. Unfortunately gun violence is a massive one for many Canadians, even when they travel to the us. Now that I’m in London, I hear a lot of the same sentiments being mirrored by the Brits. No one wants to lose their health and safety just to move to the us. Educated but of no use behave like cheap hut dwellers. \nOnce travel by flights and AC coaches of trains used to be a pleasant experience because the passengers used to come from up class section of society now street ,hutdwellers travel their behaviour wont change. Some Canadians have moved to US for acting roles/musicians, etc. Also, many travel to the US to live there in the Winter (especially older people) who are financially stable.

Toronto, a city of 4 million has around 60-70 homicides per year, a bad weekend in Chicago. Canadians rightly fear U.S. gun violence, some of it spills across the border too. Most of the guns used in crime are smuggled from the U.S. I know many people that will not travel to the U.S. anymore, myself included. Too much hassle and too many problems.

Sorry. Hard no. I will concede that there are beautiful natural features worth visiting along with some interesting cultural and historical sites. I have travelled to many of the states- maybe half of them. However, having said that I have not felt safe enough to visit there in the past decade. I do want to return to do genealogical research, but am not rushing to come back. I do think you hit the nail on the head about being sensitized to the volume of violence. I applaud your reflective stance on this.

I am from Québec and my choice to move to another country would be Sweden, Finland or Norway there more like us. The last time i have travelling in the USA is almost 20 years now and not sure to go back in your country soon. So a big NO for me but i like your vidéo you are welcome in my country.

I think you have been desensitized to the mass shootings in the US. They occur in good neighbourhoods like Parkland which is close to where my sister lives. My sister has lived in Florida for 38years and is an American citizen but she wants to move back to Canada. It won’t be easy for her because she has developed very strong friendships in Florida, but really doesn’t like living there anymore. As for me, I say hell no, I would never move to the US. There are many parts of the US I would like to visit, but I am becoming more and more frightened to travel in the states.

I would not consider moving to the states for any reason, but my reason at this point is that I’m terminally ill and disabled and I can’t even get travel insurance to be able to visit my family there. My mother’s family are all Americans. I had a lot of fun visiting them in my late teens, back in the early 90’s but now I wouldn’t even drive across the border to go shopping. Well, I do go across the border to Alaska, because that’s just an hour away, but Alaska is very different from the continental United States. And I only go to Skagway for the afternoon to get fish and chips. I welcome Americans to Canada with open arms, but I have zero desire to ever live or visit there. One at a time, on my terms, in my country, Americans are great, but your nation is falling apart at the seams. I don’t feel safe there at all.

While you may not like the school shooting comment, as of data from 2020, the US child death rate by firearms was 5.8 / 100,000 population. Compared to the next country in the world (Canada at 0.8 deaths / 100,000). Also, the death by firearms is now the leading cause of death for children in the USA, more so then even motor vehicle deaths... which is absurd. Sorry but the USA has a serious gun problem, and more of them is not the solution. Btw, a proud Canadian here, who has travelled and worked extensively across the US. I def. would not live long-term in the US.

In Canada you can be the poorest of the poor and get the same health care as almost everyone else. The very rich can choose to travel to get treatment elsewhere. No one in Canada is ever denied healthcare. We do have to pay for ambulances but there is goverment assistance for that. We do have to pay for medication but you can buy reasonablle copay policies for that. GO CANADA GO?

Tyler we are bombarded with videos of robbing, mass shootings, crazy Neighbours, car jackings, corrupt police, drug infested streets and homelessness, crazy politics etc. every day. Some of this happens in Canada but in tiny doses and that's the way I like it. California use to be beautiful now it's a ghetto. I used to love going down, but I stay home now and plan on traveling to Europe.

Props Tyler you took that well. I lived in the states for over 10 years. CT, MA, NY, IN. Some of the nicest people I have ever met. Every place has faults if you look hard enough but you wont find more generous people than in America.\nCanada is my home and I love the culture and the people but I found Americans are just as nice and kind.\nIf you haven't lived there you can only judge by what you know. As for me I lived and traveled there since I was 20. In various States.\nIf you haven't been endeared to the Americans while living there you haven't been around the right people. Tyler, remember that the mass media plays a big role in this as anytime there is a school shooting in the US it gets reported in Canada. The news focuses on anomalies and these are still anomalies. I remember the first time I went to NYC in 1988 when it was still much more dangerous than it is today. When I got off the train I told my girlfriend not to take her camera out - but as soon as we rounded the corner from Grand Central it was wall to wall tourists and everyone had their camera out. I ended up having a great time and rode the subway all over the place, no problem whatsoever. I have travelled across the US several times and been to every single US state. There is huge variety and the US is my fav country in the WORLD for a road trip - so convenient, easy, interesting, beautiful and with friendly people everywhere. I have a message, having travelled to 105 countries on 6 continents and living 15 years of my life abroad in various countries - almost EVERYWHERE is safe in the world and full of mostly great people. TV isn't reality folks! If you are an idiot, you could get into trouble anywhere.

The year isnt done yet.\n\nMy sister moved and lived 6yrs in Texas. 1st wk into her new life there... shootout/lockdown in a Walmart. That was the first/closest time our familly was as close to a handgun (except my father - RCAF veteran).\n\nShe moved back during C-19 in 2021. Lamenting the lack of choices of cracker flavours in Canada. But no longer worried about her HC Insurance. Still complains we only havr 4 flavours of Poptarts.\n\nMy father lived in the US for work and moved for a while. I was glad we moved back to Canada. (I was 10)\n\n Even as a kid, I felt unsafe there. When we came back. There was a wierd relief, that I didnt know how to explain to my Mom & Dad.\n\n Today as an adult. I know my subconscious was always telling me somesort of truth.\n\nIn Canada, its much safer. Definitely.

I'm in the not even considering the US for any visits ever again. I know quite a few Americans - love them to death but they are in the minority IMO. At lest in the places I had to travel to. Europe I do twice a year now - love it everywhere!

Don't take any of this to heart... remember that in Canada our Nightly News includes the US and the rest of the world ... good and bad .As a kid we travelled the States for 30 days every summer. We never encountered any problems except for racism. I remember we went to Wendy's for lunch we never had one in Canada back then. The manager walked up to the young kid cleaning the window and said nigger do better. We were all horrified and my dad looked at us three girls and said keep your mouth shut don't say anything. Despite that experience the States has so much to offer even today. Now as an adult my concern would be Healthcare and violence. I cannot comprehend people bearing arms at a McDonald's or Walmart or Target. I would still move to the US but be very picky about where. I have a work visa for the US and go there often. I go to many places that are not in the cities. I'm actually in South Dakota as I write this and find it to be a very pleasant place. I generally find everybody to be very friendly but can't help feel there are some topics that I just don't feel comfortable talking about in fear of triggering a strong response. I like visiting but would not consider moving there to raise a family. There is just a much greater chance of volitivity there. \n One time, while dinning out, I had a guy ask me, that because I didn't have a gun, what would I do if someone came to my home to rob me at gun point. I told him it never happens. But he insisted many times, but what if they did. I told him that it's not something I'd ever thought about and that I probably had a greater chance of dying on the plane ride home than being shot by an armed robber in my own home. But he kept insisting. I eventually told him I would help the robber take my stuff out of the house because that is what I have insurance for. I could not believe that this guy did not understand the concept of NO ONE (other then criminals shooting other criminals in the city) having a gun. \n I actually do have a long gun at my place in the country but that's to keep me safe from large animals that may come out of the bush. It is locked up in a gun cabinet by law. I would never think of using it against another person. I'd go to jail for sure if I did. Many of my friends hunt and have several guns but the restrictions on where and when you can use them and the strict storage requirements help ensure that they are not travelling around with a gun at hand. There are actually a few places in Canada where I've been that you do, or should, have to travel with a gun but these are remote areas of the country with large predatory animals. 99% of the population do not live in these areas.

As a Canadian, who lived in the USA for a couple of years, now living a 15 minute drive from the border, I used to visit the USA very often - My American ex-wife used to work in Washington state 1 mile accross the border and commuted there daily. Nowadays though, since the vaccine debacle, most of my friends and family members no longer cross the border on a regular basis. With the way that politics has gone, the lack of gun controls and general lawlessness in the USA, travelling south of the border has lost all of it's appeal. As for moving there? NEVER !

Went to university is the midwest and DC and have traveled in every state so I know a lot about the US. Now I fear for my nephews in an Atlanta school. Gun violence is out of control. No one goes broke from hospital bills in Canada. Nice to visit (most places anyway) but no thanks to living in the US. Mexico, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines all look good for retirement.

There is absolutely amazing and not in a good way. Don’t get me wrong I’m a Canadian gun owner here, but, I believe and sensible gun laws.\nI couldn’t do without a universal healthcare, affordable prescription, drugs, and federally legalised cannabis. \nAmnesty International has had a travel advisory about the US for a few years, now advising people not to travel due to the level of violence that occurs daily . Averaging one mass shooting a day and last year. I do believe there is 40 score shootings. To me is more than enough reason, never to advise anyone to move to the US. And women should have complete autonomy over their own body and make their own decisions.

Very courageous of you to publish this and I want to point it out. I know Americans are very patriotic and therefore usually do not want to hear anything negative about their country, so I'm surprised you published this. Don't get us wrong, we think USA is a great place to travel to, it's just not considered a very livable place.

USA is accessible to Canadians by a short flight or a car drive, without putting ourself at safety risk to live there. Thats why we don't want to move. If we want to go, we buy travel insurance and go.... but then we're glad we are back in the safety of our more sane society.

Travelled there so many times but I compare it to Paris : Heaven and Hell in the same place... Tried living there but was so happy to get back to Québec. The culture is not at all the same... But it is the most beautiful country to visit. Same with France but on a much smaller scale.

I am Canadian, I was born here in the 60's, I've travelled around the world, including the US but have always lived and worked in Canada. I love my country. saying that now....\nThe last 10 years for Canada has been the worst ever in history, our government has destroyed the foundation of what it means to be Canadian and has made this country look very bad on the world stage.\nEventually that will change. This currently gives reasons why a Canadian wants to move from Canada.\nYou are right about the US, there are places you can move to that offer quiet, country, safe living but like Canada, those places usually trade the good life for lack of opportunity.. the difference is most of Canada gives you the good life and opportunity in the same place. A good example, Billings Montana or Red Deer Alberta... if you compare the 2, they are close, but overall life in Red Deer would be better.\nCulture has changed thoughts too, I could never get used to seeing anyone other that law enforcement carrying a gun.. Been to the states many times and never really worried about my safety. My wife however has heard so much about the shootings that she is afraid to visit. When we travel abroad it's Europe or the Caribbean. I think because we here in Canada see so much of the gun violence in the states on the news we think its everywhere, skewing our perception maybe.

I lived in Phoenix AZ for 3 years and I miss the state and the travel opportunities close to it, the scenery was absolutely gorgeous, people were nice and friendly for most of them. I surely don't miss the violence associated to a big city like that and the heat in summer but I still miss AZ. I was feeling unsecured cause of the health care and the cost related to it since I was getting older.

The US is the LAST place I’d move to. It’s a dumpster fire. I won’t even travel there. Never used to be this way.\n\nTo avoid most ills you have to be male, white, rich and straight AND live in the middle of nowhere…off the grid.
