The social dynamics isn't any easier for us that grew up in the western world. Work place respect is seldom mutual. We learn to cope, and tolerate it. So I can imagine how difficult it is for someone not accustomed to this undignified treatment to manage. I don't think the stress is worth it in Canada (maybe it's better in Quebec?). Much less worth it here in the US, I might add!

This was exactly my experience in China. The country has everything you can imagine to make life easier but the society is robotic and cold (and I'm not talking about the weather)

Imagine a world with free movement without any help. Just go wherever you want to go, if you survive, you stay, if not, you give up & move elsewhere. Why do I get the feeling that we'll be seeing a similar scene, perhaps even just a few years from now, but the one in my head involves a massive number of Americans attempting to flee AMERICA!! I imagine that should that happen, they'd do their very best to keep us IN! There's only two options for the explanation as to why this is being done to our country: 1) our government is being run by literally, the most incompetent idiots that we've ever had the misfortune of seeing in positions of power, or 2) the collapse of our country and currency is being orchestrated, and is very much on purpose. I suppose there's a 3rd option- both #1 and #2 are not necessarily mutually exclusive........ yeah, I'm going with #3.

This is out of control. The employees that work at the borders I can't imagine having that job. I think he needs to relocate back to Nigeria. It's foolish to leave a house and 3 cars to face racism. Getting a Canadian passport is not a big deal. I got my British passport 12 years ago, and I am still struggling in the UK. The west is hyped. If you have wealth in Africa, stay there. I recently resigned from a top 50 law firm where I faced extreme bullying and sabotage from a racist colleague who would misguide me and report me behind my back to my supervising partner (I'm an employment solicitor). Id have to save my work on the desktop instead of the shared documents management system because of my client work being sabotaged. If this is happening to solicitors, imagine non-lawyers. I have recently set up my own recruitment company, I vowed to never be an employee in the UK again. Working surrounded by white people is something I will never do until the day I die. The only time I will work with them is as their employer, evenso, I am very careful in my recruitment, anyone with red flags doesn't pass my screening. I am working towards building a non-toxic workplace.

Can you imagine how horrible it must be in their own countries for this kind of desperation to get out.

Imagine being a doctor, lawyer, or engineer in your own country, living a comfortable life, earning a comfortable wage, and you naively leave all that because you think you'll move to Canada thinking you will live the Canadian dream of a better life. Almost all immigrants have a way better job in their country but they come to Canada still. It's so sad that immigrants believe these silly lies. Canada is hard to live in and it is expensive! Why leave your country??? Stay in your country and stop coming to Canada thinking it is easy, it is not easy, it is hard people are suffering and need to work 2-3 jobs to survive! Stay in your country!

Statistically Canada has more than 5% of women’s as victims of sexual assault compared to 0.004% in India. No comparison and even if I multiply factor of 100 times under reporting in India which is massive by any stretch of imagination, it is still 10 percent of what is “reported” in Canada. It is a myth that west is safe. Data do not lie.

Great documentary, but in my opinion, it's terribly one-sided, portraying these colleges as villains and the students as poor, innocent victims. As a former international student from India myself, who had the privilege of attending a prestigious university in the UK, working there, and moving on, the workings of this situation are as clear as daylight and as old as the hills. \nIt wasn't any different back then in the UK 20 years ago, during the heady Blair days, when UK colleges significantly increased their intake of international students, aided by a lax visa regime. This was also in response to tighter visa restrictions in the US following 9/11. Students enrolling in such colleges, as well as the parents funding them, are well aware that these are degree mills. The sole aim here is to somehow navigate through college and stay long enough until permanent residency comes through. \nTears flow and protests erupt only when this unspoken but clearly understood agreement is broken, often with the media conveniently at hand. The reasons driving this insatiable urge are multifarious, but poverty and lack of opportunities in the country (in this case, India) do not really rank high on the list. Social prestige and an imagined better life in the 'West' certainly do, particularly among young people from states like Punjab, Haryana, and parts of Gujarat. \nNothing about this is illegal, and not to sound cynical, these are market forces at work. However, in my view, this represents a more accurate truth. It would be great to see Fifth Estate also report from this side

The security did a good job. Imagine if it wasn't an aide and some nuthead, anything could happen. The aide fell behind, his fault but it could happen sometimes.

Now where ever you go you will think about your family and siblings because you are always going to imagine what if they were here you would be enjoying these moments more. I am probably one of the more lucky immigrants as my parents were able to get a greencard sponsorship by their employer and a regular h1 visa, so that we could relocate to america. I was only 5 when I got my citizenship, but I can't imagine how much more difficult the process would be nowadays

IMAGINE JUST UP AND LEAVING SOMEWHERE WITHOUT MONEY, CLOTHES, ID, PASSPORT, BIRTH CERTIFICATES, ETC I WOULD LOSE MY MIND.
