Hey Tyler. Just FYI a huge portion of the world are horrified with the sheer amount of gun violence that is accepted in the USA. This is not just a Canadian viewpoint. Also, what about the people that live in the 'bad' parts of the Country - it isn't like a lot of them have the choices or opportunities to move. \n\nI will say your openness to questioning your biases is refreshing. Hopefully you get a chance to leave the USA for a significant amount of time and then go back with a fresh viewpoint.\n\nThanks

I absolutely would move to the US but I don't think it will be any better as the US is number 1 on the globalists list to subjugate. If RFK gets voted in I may consider it. I don't trust Trump he gave the world the clot shot. I love the US Constitution and that courts in the US are not all corrupt and actually uphold people's rights not so much in Canada. I just dont like the levels of violent crime in the US. I wouldn't mind Alaska or Maine, or other states that are sparsely populated and quiet country living with very little crime.

The problem with the US is that a lot of the population wants to go back to the 1950’s instead of moving into the future & those people even though they are not the majority, that particular party seems to get in every 4 years or so even though they don’t win the popular vote. This is a ridiculous situation that the rest of the world doesn’t get it??‍♀️

My uncle moved to Texas when he married my Texan aunt, but I’m fairly certain that’s only because she has a medical condition that means she physically cannot endure the temperatures we get here in Canada in the winter months. She would have quite literally been housebound for a third of the year every year if she came up here.\n\nEdit: Also, Canada may have a smaller population than the US, but we actually have the second-largest total land mass out of all the countries in the world. Russia is the only country with more land.\n\nEdit 2: In 2022, there were a total of 51 school shootings. That’s more than 4 school shootings *per month.* Of course we don’t trust the USA to be a safe place for children. Especially since even if you survive the shooting, there’s a good chance you’ll be bankrupted by injury.

You would get the same response from the vast majority from anyone not living in a 3rd world nation

Tyler, remember that the mass media plays a big role in this as anytime there is a school shooting in the US it gets reported in Canada. The news focuses on anomalies and these are still anomalies. I remember the first time I went to NYC in 1988 when it was still much more dangerous than it is today. When I got off the train I told my girlfriend not to take her camera out - but as soon as we rounded the corner from Grand Central it was wall to wall tourists and everyone had their camera out. I ended up having a great time and rode the subway all over the place, no problem whatsoever. I have travelled across the US several times and been to every single US state. There is huge variety and the US is my fav country in the WORLD for a road trip - so convenient, easy, interesting, beautiful and with friendly people everywhere. I have a message, having travelled to 105 countries on 6 continents and living 15 years of my life abroad in various countries - almost EVERYWHERE is safe in the world and full of mostly great people. TV isn't reality folks! If you are an idiot, you could get into trouble anywhere.

I have two brothers living in the states. The one in Wisconsin is my big brother and he means the world to me. He does have his foibles about race and he tolerates me bringing him to task for some of the things he's said. He was brought up in Kentucky. He seems to be seeing the light now. I have spent time with him and my sister-in-law, and my nieces and nephews in Florida, Illinois, Kentucky and Indiana. We are close now despite being brought up worlds apart. My next oldest brother lives in West Virginia. I haven't seen him on over 30 years. He had a habit of moving without telling the rest of the family. I didn't know he had divorced and remarried. I worked for the Canadian Military as well as some of the American contingent where I worked. I had to renew information for my Security Clearance just after 9/11. He refused to give me any info because Rush Limbaugh was telling Americans the terrorists came to the U.S. from Canada (they actually were taking flight training in Florida). I suppose I could easily take up American citizenship since our mother had dual citizenship but I think I'll decline. I'm too much of a Canuck to change now. I don't think I could get used to politicians winning an election and immediately starting a new campaign. The process seems exhausting to always be bombarded with things politic. Here our electioneering is held to 6-8 weeks before the election and strict limits are placed on funding and contributions. Besides, I live in a small city of 58-60 thousand (North Bay, Ontario). In the close to 70 years that I've lived here, I can recall only 3 murders, so you'll under if I find mass shootings shocking and abhorrent and truthfully scary. I'm a little long winded today....Sorry.

I’ve lived in both countries in small towns and big cities Hell No Thanks and I would have great insurance. I remember in preschool having to do active shooter drills in the US nope. If you look at stats on gun violence and mass shootings it’s crazy. The US leads by an astronomical amount. Tyler says the US has more access to guns and although I have no idea where to get a gun I think people could get one pretty easily but we don’t need them. I can walk in the dark and not fear for my safety and Canada has only had 3 mass shootings in its whole history. Of course medical, dental, education, women’s rights, maternity and paternity leave, unemployment, help when Covid lockdown happened, clean free water in homes, housing, … on and on. America the “free” is antiquated and no longer true. Education has slid to 30 something in world rankings and Canada is in the top 3. Cost of education, daycare, child benefits ect. I could write paragraphs. Also it’s hilarious when you hear American say oh we’ll just moved to Canada like they can just drive here and settle down?!?there’s a border and you can’t illegally just move here and get a job. If you’ve lived in both countries you’d know the difference. I don’t even want to vacation there anymore since about 10 years or so ago.

I think the best reasons for people to want to live in Canada is for the safety. Laws of no violence and no weapons in public. Our rapid response of Police, Fire and medical (there are bills for the Ambulance and Fire response so we do get billed at times, which also can be brought to our judicial system and potentially the bill can be dropped). \nAll across the world people need safety for their families and Canada takes refugees in large quantities. Refugee families are given a sponsored house, vehicle, paid for bills (including medical and educational) and a paid food allowance to live in until they stabilize themselves with full time work and when they are ready they can make room for other refugee families in need. \nWe have a huge area of land that is underdeveloped and there are plenty of opportunities for work in the infrastructure field. \nCanada is known across the world to host friendliness amongst its free citizens. \nAlso we aid any country in need and are the first country to respond to any natural disaster world wide. \nWe have our flaws but we feel safe and cared for with those flaws.

He’ll no, I visit regularly, every winter but I wouldn’t want to move. Main reason: politics, the amount of money from big corporations that funds every bad decisions, your world is controlled by a few rich white guys and the propaganda news stations who are, of course, getting richer. I follow all of the major USA news/fake news and I shake my head. I avoid the subject down there because it’s none of my business.

Well, as a Canadian, I guess i'll pitch in.\nWould I move to the US? The short answer is no. But I will explain more in detail.\n\nFirst, I do not see any advantages to the US compared to Canada. Americams often tout their country as the beacon of freedom and the land of opportunities, but I don't feel that Canada is so different there. We're actually higher on the world freedom index, and its not like our economy was in shambles and everyone dirt poor... We pay more taxes, fine, but we also get more services in return, and that last part has the advantage to remove a big layer of worry. Like, for healthcare, I don't have to worry if i'm covered by insurance or not, or if the insurance carrier will drop me on some technicality. I'm a citizen. All the basic needs are covered; no questions asked (and the healthcare quality is not half bad. We just prioritize urgent cases over non-urgent; so if you go to the hospital for something non-urgent, you will wait, and more urgent cases will pass before you. Annoying when it happens, but I understand and agree with that in the end)\n\nSecond, I do see a lot of disadvantages. All the points raised in the video are valid, from the private-sector healthcare system, the gun control laws (or lack thereof), the social policies and legislation in some states; they don't agree with me.\n\nI think it comes down to some specific social and cultural ideas that are prevalent or at least present in a substantial manner in the american society. Bear in mind that I am generalizing here, not every american believes these points, but many do. I'm talking about ego, nationalism/patriotism, secularism etc.\nI feel that the US often has a really overinflated vision of itself. Like, the idea that America is the best. At everything. Wich is factually not true, but this idea also poisons the debate on many issues, and tends to limit social introspection that could lead to real advances.\n\nI've also noticed that the american basic school system is strongly patriotic. Everyone in the US is taught a lot about the US themselves in school, but not much about the rest of the world. Not great for open mindedness and introspection when you have little comparison points.\n\nAndlets not delve into the religious aspect. I've seen a poll somewhere where 48% of americans were AGAINST the separation of church and state. For me thats not only insane, its dangerous. It fits the individualistic mentality where people can more easily start thinking that their way is THE way. It creates a very polarized society much more prone to high volatility.\n\nSo, yeah, no, I wouldn't live in the US. I'd much rather stay in Canada where i don't have to worry if I get sick or hurt, if some agressive drunk idiot in a bar is armed, or if some fundamentalists from some religious congregation is gonna be able to try to politically force their point of view.

No, never. I would NEVER move to the USA. The only kind of weapon a citizen should be able to buy are hunting rifles and hand guns. Both of wich you need special licenses to obtain and can take up to 2 months to get. When guns are the most common way children die, how can you kid yourself it's not a problem. Especially when no other first world country has this problem.

I am Canadian, I was born here in the 60's, I've travelled around the world, including the US but have always lived and worked in Canada. I love my country. saying that now....\nThe last 10 years for Canada has been the worst ever in history, our government has destroyed the foundation of what it means to be Canadian and has made this country look very bad on the world stage.\nEventually that will change. This currently gives reasons why a Canadian wants to move from Canada.\nYou are right about the US, there are places you can move to that offer quiet, country, safe living but like Canada, those places usually trade the good life for lack of opportunity.. the difference is most of Canada gives you the good life and opportunity in the same place. First I feel for these people. They want to live in the greatest country in the world. The problem with Canada's economy is that it's totally controlled by the .01% elite who couldn't care less for Canadians other than the production they contribute to their agenda. We are all one whether we see people as other’ or not. We’re humans. \n They’re not seen in media unless it’s a bad story yet we’re only now teaching one mandatory class by non indigenous people. Solution: elders teach their grandchildren languages that weren’t erased by genocide and environmental /spiritual cultural practices and lifestyles before they’re gone by paying first people elders and streaming it into all Canadian classrooms so the children can see a future where they’re valued and all Canadian kids can get a full education and learn accurate history. Making canoes, baskets, sacred ceremonies, food growing (that they taught to pilgrims so they’d survive here), etc. No, I’m not indigenous. I’m an immigrant like all but the first people. They’ve an amazing culture that’s been all but lost . When we don’t see ourselves represented in any media, any careers, and start our lives in extended poverty based on our race, and all that was taken still today, it’s no wonder the teen suicide rate for indigenous youth is more than double / triple all non - indigenous youth. An international nursing student worked for me providing personal care like showers, meal prep etc and over that year, she said she wouldn’t have moved here specifically because of a few things I’ve mentioned. She told me Canada was sold to people in her country of origin as a ‘multicultural’ safe haven without extreme racism still prevalent today and within our history. \n\nI’m ashamed of Canadian government promises for over 100 years that aren’t fulfilled. This is happening all over the world… I’m also African American . I’ve be going through the worst disrespect dealing with these white peoples in the predominantly white neighborhoods. people care less about the topics you have highlighted here. for an example LGBT rights doesn't play a huge role in day to day life of a person who is not identified as one, legalizing weed, how less religious people are etc are not even things that makes up to top 5 priorities. Canada is WAAY more expensive than USA (and most of the developed countries), its infrastructure is way subpar than of USA (or even some developing countries) and lets not even talk about the joke of a healthcare system in Canada. to see a GP people has to stay in the queue for 3 MONTHS!!!! Not that many people in the developed world are shopping for an alternative country. So I imagine most Americans and most Canadians will be content with their nation of birth. But as a Canadian, I have to admit I'm a bit scared of the US. The level of violent crime down there is such that _many_ (not all) people feel they need guns for personal security. American prison rates testify to a level of desperation and alienation that is _not_ appealing to me. I don't want to live somewhere where owning a deadly weapon seems like a sensible idea! Also, as a struggling creative/entertainment person, I can't guarantee I'll be consistently earning good money – there are plenty of lean times in my biz. I don't want to be repeatedly worrying about my health coverage disappearing, whenever work dries up. I've never had that type of anxiety in Canada, and I sure appreciate that. Btw, although the Canadian health system is a long way from perfect, I've always managed to get appropriate care, according to my needs, quickly enough, at no cost to myself. And currently, I really like my GP _and_ my specialists!

You have to pay the government their share for everything, private business isn’t legal without government permission, can’t hunt/fish without government involvement, can’t build a self sufficient home without government involvement and regulation. It’s called the fucking internet, And maybe 5% of Americans took advantage of that and informed themselves.
