?I'm American, grew up next to Canada and have worked in Europe for years. This conversation is about 90% bullshit - these places are essentially the same. They all have fast food. They all have their own crime issues and transportation issues. Their health care systems are all dysfunctional, all complained about and ranted against _constantly,_ until they have to be stubbornly defended against criticism by some foreigner for egotistical, xenophobic reasons. Not one of them is measurably better or worse than any of the others. It's all a lot of self-important fucking nonsense.

To confirm as an American. Yes, it seems like everyone wants to put hot sauce and cheese on everything and it's annoying. The tap water here is bad unless you get it from the fridge or have a filter. Here in Arkansas, I think our spring water is great.\n\nRegarding the city and getting around to restaurants and other areas, pretty much. A good portion of our factories are on acres of land. However, some are still close enough that you can walk to. I'm certain this is hardly different from Canada but we are 97% rural. People think of America as big cities but usually its the local town and a pumpkin patch. When Aba said America is like 40 different countries, he ain't wrong. \n\nFirearms is ingrained in our culture. That's a given. I see a lot of people mention safety and this is what I can say; I felt my safety was compromised by a tornado warning. Trouble can happen but if you don't deal drugs or do some under the table stuff, usually you won't be a victim of a crime. \nI'm planning on owning some land myself so I can shoot on it, farm, and raise a family. Just be independent.

I lived in Lon. Ontario for seven years and I have to tell you the air is so clean choked for a week clearing out Americans crappy air,the ghettos look like suburbs because at least in my area the properties are being taken care of,no I'm not going to say that wasn't any racism or no Gunplay it is minimum and the politics is almost as bad as United States but it's a hell of a lot better than what the state is offering you, yes there's more money in the States but you don't get a piece of mind like you do in Canada, and let me tell you about their beer store and how one of their beers is an equivalent to 6 US beers lol, I need to go back lol

As an American who now lives in Japan, Yes! to all of this. I don't think we realize how draining it is to live in that type of environment and the toll is takes over time. I lived in a studio apartment in Chicago that costed the same as a 2 bedroom here, maybe less. I had to work 2 full time jobs to pay rent and other utilizes. I rarely socialized with my friends or went out to do anything. And I thought that was NORMAL. That's crazy thinking back on it now. Also I'm a lot less paranoid in Japan then I was in the States due to safety reasons.

2 things that came to mind was i'm surprised you didn't mention healthcare. Lifelong american, figured that would be one of the top things. But, one thing on the cost of living, kind of like ya'll said on the america being 40 counties, the cost of living varies so wildly. LA, New York, those biggest cities are crazy expensive to live in, even compares to the rest of america

America is good for money. It is a capitalist society and everything runs on money- the people, the food, parking, breathing lol. But it doesn’t always provide a great life balance to the point where people don’t prioritize their health and wellness because they simply can’t afford to. Like literally. Without money you will die in a health institute here because they will not treat you without money. You can buy any and everything here- it’s all for sale. Personally I’m a wrench and I don’t subscribe to American society. I was born and raised here and it always felt wrong the way things work here, the way people are. I'm American and I've been to Canada 2 times. But when I went to Montreal for my 18th birthday, I fell in love with the city and I remember saying that I wanted to move there in the future. I've been studying French just for that because I know that's the language mainly spoken there. I plan on visiting Toronto again this spring or summer so I'm excited. I would still take our medical system over the American system without a second thought. Though I would be in favour of a parallel paid tier that's integrated with the public tier so that the public tier benefits from the profits and investments.\nRegarding financial technology, the perspective here is slightly short sighted, although to some degree, I agree. Compared to the US we have had debit (Interac) at retail point of sale since the late '80s/early '90s, and email money transfers (Interac eTransfer) since the late '90s/early '00s, long before the US had anything comparable such as PayPal, and apps like CashApp or Venmo effectively have no marketshare in Canada because of the long history of having email money transfers.\nLastly, for the cell phone plans, you are 100% correct, though we still don't have true unlimited, and only on plans including 5G service. However, there are some mitigating factors such as the high ratings of the network quality and stability for all major cell carriers despite wide swaths of our geography having little to no population and rugged topography. It's not an easy country to cover properly or reliably without it being expensive. Though Canadian telecom and cableco profits are through the roof, as are those of the big 5 banks. We definitely need more competition, though I'm not sure foreign companies coming in are the way to go with this.\nAlso, technologically speaking many important technological and scientific R&D is being conducted here and innovations are made here all the time, but in many ways, these companies get traction outside of Canada long before they get traction here.

Being a 60 year old Michigan neighbor and frequent visitor to Canada for job duties, I can totally agree that Canada has not gotten better. They were always racist. I’m surprised Trudeau actually mentioned the Native American children Canada massacred in the name of god to assimilate. They don’t want them there period. They want to erase them. You're not correct about the Quebec government banning the hijab - actually they ban all forms of religious expression in clothes worn at work by public servants - so don't criticize us unless you get the facts straight. All countries are facing public health crisis especially in the aftermath of a global pandemic, you mention how long it could take to get an MRI - weeks/months, but it's no worse than in the UK, or other western countries. I do agree with you about limited competition in banking and tech - but we're still a young and growing country, however, look at the global recession that took place in 2007 - Canada was least affected by mortgage default, the US was hit the worst and hundreds of thousands had their homes foreclosed by the Banks, yet in Canada because of our strict banking policies we were saved and the Banks worked with defaulters to try to keep their homes. Taxes, well most countries require you to file your own taxes at the end of the year - what's so strange about that? Yes sales tax is added onto the sales price depending on what province and what you are purchasing, same as US, just because it's not the same in Europe doesn't mean it's worse! Listen, when you're a newcomer to any country you need to fit in when looking for a job, put in the effort, take the time, do the work, any country is going to expect you to be able to speak the language and know the lingo, so I don't agree with your analysis that Canadians are risk adverse! You are 100% correct about the housing crisis, listen it's been going on everywhere for decades, and international investors in the past 10 years or so woke up and noticed that Canada was a great bet for investment, so the problem got really bad. The government just passed a 2 year moratorium on non Canadians buying real estate - as have many other countries, so fingers crossed no more new foreign landlords just regular Canadians buying their first homes, let's hope so!! I've lived many years in Europe - and I loved it! But the quality of life in Canada is better. If you don't live in the crowded city you can have a nice property with lots of space, good roads, not bad school system, very friendly and helpful people. Quebec has some of the best food on the North American continent, we have clean air and lots of water in Canada - I'm very happy here, so don't be so negative please!

I live in Toronto (born and raised) and I’m moving to Costa Rica in the new year. This video is interesting to me because these are all things I truly agree with but have never given any real thought to as negatives about Canada. I usually get quite defensive when people try to compare to the states and call us (Toronto in particular) less then American cities. I think that’s more so linked to my love for the raptors though ?

I'm a blk American born and raised and l have serious interest in moving to Canada. Since my people are from the US this is all l know so Im acclimated to the racial climate of the states. A lot of your cons are the same issues many face in the states. Taxes are crazy cost of living is insane wages are stagnant and you basically live to work. I live in Minnesota which is not far from the Canadian border but originally from New Jersey so I'm used to the cold. The health care system is sh*t here. Noone really has money to pay privately that's why our care is funded by employers. At the current moment there is also a shortage of medical professionals so often times you still have to wait months for appointments but you know what l would rather wait and have my taxes pay for my doctor then go into medical debt. My biggest issue with America is you pay all these taxes and reap nothing at least in Canada you can kinda see where the money is going.

I know the U.S. may seem better but moving here is a big mistake the racism you'll be dealing with is mind-boggling it's gotten worse since trump became president Biden is trying to deal with it but it's not getting any better, especially with police brutality which I'm sure you know is the worst it's ever been unless the Democrats win more seats in the Senate and hold on to the house of representatives it's going to get worst for people of color the Republican party has been hijacked by white nationalist this is not a country you want to move to unless you just want to do business I wouldn't advise it thousands of African Americans are leaving the U.S. because of systemic racism which has gotten worse.

I'm a born Canadian. I enjoyed growing up there on the lake. It was peaceful and beautiful. \nI joined a church and traveled alot in the country. I do love Canada as my place of birth and memories. \nThrough the church I married an American have been here 26 yr. Now. It has become so expensive there and too controlling. When I tell Africans not to go to Canada they never listen. Canada is a really cool country. There's no doubt about that but in winter the weather gets really cold, dull, grey and depressing. Instead of moving always to The UK, US or Canada, why not try the Caribbean and some central American countries. These countries are very colorful, lively and bright with climate similar to ours. There are lots of folks over there that look like us as well except that you may have to learn a little Spanish which shouldn't be a problem at all. \nI'm a Nigerian too.\nI also dreamt of moving to Canada 15 years ago. I was so crazy in love with the country at first but because I was aware of how depressing winters can be I had to switch my dream destination to the Caribbean. I choose Panama because of the large Afro Panamanian community over there. Secondly because Panama looks like a more developed version of My country, Nigeria with beautiful beaches and a nice tropical weather. It's one of those few Caribbean nations with a free world class universal healthcare system like most countries in Europe.

I'm American born of Haitian descent and I think these type of videos are annoying. I find that Africans/Nigerians love to country hop while adding little to nothing in the way of cultural and social betterment in their temporarily adopted countries. When I travel it's out of a genuine love of travel versus constant economic movement. Stop expecting that one country is going to give you everything that you're looking for. There are pros and cons to living anywhere. Happiness and fulfillment comes from within self and not always geographical borders.

I couldn't agree with you more. Canada has become another one of those mindless Totalitarian states like American China, Russia, etc., etc. I spent 10 years in China working as a teacher. I went there because I was fed up in my country and when I returned it was worse than when I left. As I am now 68, if I can afford to leave again I will and I'll never return again. I told the Chinese who knew me I was returning because I missed the land, but I never really missed the people. Now that I'm back, since Jan. 2022, I want to leave again and I will and Never return. I’m not gonna hate on you, but I am gonna say something that is directed towards your comment section and your opinion. I’m sick of Americans and Canadians bitching and saying Europe is better. Europe most of the time sucks, especially Eastern Europe where I originally grew up. Europe happens to be more depressing also than the USA/Canada in my opinion. For me personally moving to Ontario was the best decision ever and I would never, in a hundred years move to Europe. Maybe Italy or the Netherlands are one of the only countries in Europe which life would be as great, as it is here.

When traveling to Turkey a few years back as an American my grandma told me if I ever got into any trouble to tell them I’m Canadian.

I agree that it is boring, cold, expensive, high tax high services, I mean people didn’t work for a year and got paid plenty for nothing. Taxes are incremental based on income as they should be. Coming from a major Latin American city, you have no idea what it is to live under fear of assault or harm at any moment, having corrupt politicians, police, and people in general. You are privileged having been born here because it is much easier to make a living, with good laws, you should go to places where people drink on the streets and pee and shit everywhere. I’m sure there are better places in the world but you will never feel like at home, and each place will have it’s own difficulties. I don’t think we all need to live in the same place but don’t believe that you are able to move to any place in the world if you weren’t Canadian.

I'm Canadian and I love both Canada and the US. However, I don't think I would live permanently in the US because I think life is better in Canada overall. We have free healthcare, so no medical bills and no health insurance to deal with. Only a bigger tax bill that doesn't change according to your health situation. We have much less crime, especially gun related crime. We have less poverty and a much better social safety net. It horrifies me how many Americans are homeless even if they previously had a good job, but they had to stop working because of a health condition. We have less political extremism and polarization. Extremist Christians have no control over our politics, so LGBTQ+ rights and women's rights are much safer here than in the US. We don't have cities being burnt down by antifa on one side, and elections and social peace being jeopardized by MAGA extremists on the other. On a more positive note, I love the weather of the US, their fast food joints, their local food, the landscapes, the cheaper gas and all the attractions. I really wish the US could solve all its problems and become a better country. Maybe one day, we could end up similar and open our borders like Europeans do with the Schengen Accord.

Bureaucracy, col weather, socialism in Canada will turn Canada to like a Latin American country. I left it to USA for education and with an MBA I couldn’t get a reasonable job in Canada, so I worked in USA and recently I thought to go to Ukraine or Moldova and find a sweetheart , buy a farm and stay there. But suddenly covid19 and Putin screwed up my plan. But I’m not giving up. Malaysia or Portugal should be cheaper and warmer. Oooh Canada, jus come for a visit. I’m American, married to a Canadian and many of them literally scoff when I tell them where I’m from. This is SO true!!! I am American but have lived overseas in the UK and Europe. I can’t believe the difference. Living in America is so lonely! It’s isolating. It’s very sad. It didn’t used to be this way in the 40s, 50s, 60s 70s. This is a new phenomenon. Without w church family (and I’m not religious) you are literally on your own - and that’s as an American! I can’t believe what it would be like being a refugee or an immigrant. Depression is high and largely due to isolation.
