No wonder everything is getting so expensive and housing and rent is going through the roof. almost 1/2 million new residents a year? Where is all the infrastructure and housing for that coming from? The gov needs to put the brakes on immigration and lets things stabilize for a while jesus. Almost every Liberal policy is like a perfect storm for making this country unaffordable for the average Canadian. \nIf you're going to let people in let it be only in job markets we need like high skilled workers, and especially doctors and nurses. And dear god help those doctors and nurses get appropriately accredited before giving them citizenship. Our system needs people who can work in the system not people who got their degree or diploma in some flyby night school. I see way to many people at my workplace trying to get jobs with fake diplomas or degrees. Those people need to be deported ASAP! They lied to get here and they are lying to employers. Sorry no sympathy there.

It took 6 years for me to get my license. I was almost at the verge of breaking down when I finally got my license. I felt it was really unfair. They should tell us what to expect with a reasonable time frame. Not like just assessment taking 1.5 to 2 years, which is not acceptable. I didn’t even felt any joy when I finally got my license to be honest. I don’t think that any other western country takes this long .

For immigrants to stay back there needs to be a change. Now that is very hard and almost next to impossible. We need a change in the leadership.

I'm currently living in France and the system of life is so good than any European countries but I always try to immigrate for a country that speaks English because French language is too difficult ,therefore to study what you want, to have driver license, to work in a good place, everything become compulsory for you to have or know french good level B1 To C1.\n\nin this case you can't do any any progress, life is good really but integration is difficult. \n\nimagine almost 2 years after language, using bicycle as a transport.

Qualified immigrants & Canadians are leaving. Refugees and unqualified immigrants/students are flooding in. That's actually one of the reasons for emigration. Thats actually one of the main reasons for almost all of the problems here right now.

Everyone has their own experiences. But the hospital incident I can relate. One time I took my son in emergency and the doctor gave anesthesia to my son in his finger and then got busy worh other patients and when she came back the affect was almost done and when she gave cut in his finger, he was in real pain and I was literally in tears. \nAfter few years when my situation was grave the head of the department herself took permission in the meeting for my immediate MRI which takes longer if you not in dire need.\n\nBut she gave the perfect review. Never come here to study in college. You won't get anything except wasting your money. For me it's been 20 years here. Life is not easy at all, but I'm used to it. May be because I don't need friends to share happiness or my sorrows. I'm a strong woman and can handle my ups and down. \nLife is all about paying bills and bills here and I now I don't have any regrets, so I'm okay with it. Winters are good as long as you have proper clothing and shoes. I never had an issue.

There is something to take note of for the salaries: Canada has almost free health care, but the USA really doesn't. Maybe it affects the salaries? I mean yes you may get a lot more money, but if you have health issues, canada is maybe more equal? I don't know

I was born in NYC but moved to Canada over 20 years ago, I now have dual citizenship. In the space of 1 year my retired father had a major stroke and my wife, pregnant with our first child had a full hemorrhage, was rushed to the hospital and gave birth to our premature son who required open heart surgery at 3 months of age. The quality of the health care was top notch, it didn't matter who I was or what I earned, we promptly received the best health care I can imagine. I was maxed out emotionally; I can't imagine worrying if I could afford the monies involved, was it covered under my current health care plan everything was 'just there'. There was no waiting for our legitimate emergencies. I don't know what the math would be on costs but I'm guessing I'd be broke for the rest of my life if this occurred in the States. \nOf course, what countries could afford universal health care except, maybe: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Sweden, Spain, Switzerland. Italy, Israel, Greece and 22 other countries. Why is almost every other country paying less for drugs developed by American companies?\nYou pay slightly lower taxes... but what would your income look like if your employer paid you what they are paying for your insurance premiums?\nI'd say the richest country on earth has a little catching up to do...

Economy literally zero, school system - other than real education they teach you everything which is of useless in life, medical care - people have been waiting to see doctor for over 2 years, income tax is 50% which is you’ll never get anything as take home. There are way too many society issues that she’s not able to cover because of the limited time she lived here. There’s no social structure, festivals, support, mentally everyone’s weak, almost all food is GMO which will make you patient forever. Every family who came here post covid is struggling. Most of us are planning to return to motherland sooner or later ?? India is the best place for well rounded life always and many people are moving back including our group

Sikhs are amazing when u contact at individual level. But I had bad experiences about them in Canada. They are very territorial about Canada and doesn't respect other Indians. They were rude just because I am not Sikh. That was a totally different experience than what I had in India. And whatever problems Punjab has faced almost every state has faced them. I recently travelled to Oregon & Washington state to see a Canadian friend who married an American. I found the price of food to be very expensive or on par with Canada, plus the exchange rate. The busy freeways traumatized me. I was stressed about avoiding medical care or any legal issues during my trip. While visiting a popular beach resort town, I was surprised to observe Americans talking loudly on their cell phones, oblivious to the beauty of the ocean & everyone around them. I noticed rich locals driving their rare convertibles. I was relieved to come back to my life in Canada. \nP.S. my friend recently got COVID, $3000 medical bill to pay, & spent most of the time recovering at home - almost died ?

I married my spouse and moved to the United States from Canada. Before, I didn't give the US much thought and merely loved travelling to a few of the locations. Having said that, even after spending five years there, I have never witnessed a country and a population as divided as the US. The United States is not the most free country in the world, despite what the public believes and thinks. In reality, it is also depressing to observe how the healthcare system handles people. The social safety net is completely missing, and by that I mean that most jobs don't pay for maternity leaves or vacations unless you work at a senior level or for a high-end company. The political system is so rigged that it is understandable why people are tired of voting every two years, and perhaps even every year. Most certainly, especially since your elections begin almost exactly when the previous one finished. I suppose I could go on forever, but I'll stop here. Although Canada is not perfect, is not free from controversy or problems, and is not the best at everything, we are able to concede defeat, acknowledge that someone was wrong or that we might have done better, work together with one another, and express that we are SORRY. Yes, it is a word that is never used in the US, and that is also the issue. I'm pleased to be back in Canada, where I belong, and I regret ever leaving. Yes, returning to Canada feels peaceful and inviting compared to travelling to the US, where every trip involves an interrogation to ensure that you don't remain too long. My sister lives in Mexico and WITHOUT any sort of health insurance. She gave birth in a private hospital for a very unfortunate reason and she had to pay 1800 USD. ( Yeah, Mexico has an universal health care system funded by the State and by the clients which costs almost 2000 USD/year )

The thing is, it's ALL priority based, so if you wait, it's because someone needs your resources even MORE than you do. Sometimes, it ends up in a tragedy, but MOST times, it allows for the neediest to get it first. \nAs far as having children here, we have a NEGATIVE birthrate, so our government PAYS us to have children. My son grew up in Quebec, and they have a double everything. Double taxes (not that bad after the tax deductions and credits), but they also Double the safety net and services, compared to the rest of Canada. Not only was childbirth free, so were the pre-natal courses and everything else, AND we got around 1000$/mo in childcare benefits, until he turned 18, with full of tax credits per kid. Plus, daycare was 5$/day back then, it's 7$/day almost 20 years later.. Pretty citizen friendly. \nThings MIGHT be changing though. Our conservatives are taking their talking points from the US GOP since COVID, and they are all-in to please their Oil lobby overlords and donators out in our prairies region. He was in pain and the nurses would not give him any pain medication in the emergency waiting area, wait for the doctor. He called me at work and I took pain killers to him in the emergency room. I am in a country with a universal free medical system plus a private system as well. However if you are really poor you can have access to whatever you need (you may have to wait a while) I have also experienced the private system, and it felt like a cattle market as you could almost feel that they were counting your money and their thoughts were on getting the next customer in. Im in Alberta even though i was born in Ontario. Ive lived in almost every province and came back to Alberta years ago. My boys were born here the 1st time i was here. I would never want to be American and have often thanked God that i was born in Canada. I have a lot of health problems due to an elderly women almost killing me in a car accident amongst other condotions. If i was American my family would be bankrupt. A nurse came from america to work here in canada due to their healthcare care system. Her hospital wouldnt admit the man dieing of a heart attack or even do cpr until they got the insurance info. She quit that day and came to canada that was the 90's\nMy family are also loyalists

I'm American and spend at least a month in Canada each summer. Maybe a grass is greener situation, but Canada seems better in almost every way. One thing is for sure, the people in Canada are a lot nicer than Americans.
