Okay, as a Canadian, I've been watching all sides of the stories. All of your points of view are heard, and particularly the past day's coverage rings true, in some senses. I feel bad for his innocent children to have to go through this. You want to live in another country, you need to follow the law like every else. You learn the language, get the same I.D. We all have to have , and be treated the same as if any American were to illegally cross boarders! What we have to go through just to have identification here should be no different for anyone else! Immigration has ALWAYS been hard but many people make life more difficult when they don't understand a country's laws and/or fail to follow those laws. I know a man who came to the USA with $50 and managed to work and send money to his wife and then one day he wrote to his wife to say he couldn't send any more money because he was buying a bakery. Then he sent for her and they raised two sons, worked very hard in his little business, sent his sons to a private university. They followed the law and all are successful now. I also know a man from Colombia who came to the USA legally and a U.S. businessman saw how diligently he worked and helped him start a business. The American dream works. More than 720,000 new citizens were sworn in recently (in 2016, if my memory is correct).

Yea keep crossing, we should make it easy for these poor refugees to keep making this treacherous journey to Canada. Maybe busses at the mexican boarder to get them to Canada. Or they could stay in their own country and fight to make it great. Many Americans have fought for this country over the years not to have people coming in the backdoor illegally. Get inline.

The US should make work visas easier to maintain so they can work here and go back to their family in their home country every now and then. But then again, that may work for Mexican migrants(mexico is not dangerous at all besides a couple cartel controlled states) but perhaps not for smaller central american countries where they are escaping political strife and violence. The attainment of visa is easier for white latinos rather than those who are brown/afro. However, people complain that they feed off welfare, which is untrue because those without ssn can not obtain those benefits.

there is racism and prejudice everywhere. on every level no matter gender, race, religion, culture. etc. no matter where you go. but if these guys take a trip to any of those corrupted third world backwards countries they would see how good they really have it. us foolish americans canadians dont know how good we have it. we are living in the freest country nation and society ever seen in the history of the world. at least our country creates new laws every year to make our people feel safe. but other islamic countries continue following laws made in the 15th century. do you see and appreciate the difference.\n\nsure people will label you based off your skin tone and your demeanor. I feel for Jose, yet I wonder why he is not angry with his own government, with his own country for making him feel it was impossible for him to live and work in his own country. Why can he not go back there? How is that system lacking and what can be done to change it so that people don’t feel forced to leave. I find it odd that no one ever reports on these South American governments - what are they doing so wrong that their own citizens are refugees from their own country. Why can’t we stop blaming and find a solution to this problem? Why is it framed that it is the United States or Canada’s fault for upholding immigration laws, their own countries insist upon them. it’s odd.

growing up in canada, i felt left out in the blk community b/c i am a 5th generation blk cdn on mom's side and 3rd on my dad's - when other black ppl not canadian born met me - i tell them i'm cdn, but i always used to get the question - where are you really from - they were looking for me to say the islands - when i told them my paternal grandma was born in 1901 in canada - that's when the questions stopped. i've been told that b/c i wasn't from the islands, i had no culture in college, but a mbr of the black student society put him in his place i heard he got into a lot of trouble. i was asked what do we eat as in food as canadians what kind of music do we listen to - at our blk canadian weddings, the only carribean song played was hot hot hot by arrow - we played straight up r and b and motown. i hv been rejected by other blk men b/c i'm not west indian enough...it was hurtful. even with 'friends' they made of my cdn heritage but i used to think, why are you making fun of me knowing that my family and ancestors were in canada first - they were 1st generation - i live in the usa now and i'm with an african american man - he has never treated me as if i were different and he loves going w/me to canada. my parents told me it was jealousy on those ppl's parts - one guy i used to be friends with in college, when i went to his house, his mom was from the islands, when she met me - she said, 'you cdn ppl are loud' and that did it for me - i didn't date her son but when he met my parents, they never said any of that crap to him. in the usa, the african americans don't treat differently at all - my ex mom in law thought we were american but decided to live in canada - b/c she was surprised that blacks do live in canada. her other daughter in law's family were from the islands - but she gravitated more to my family and felt comfortable around them more than her family and this ex sis in law would brag about the islands this and that and she would make comments about my looks being skinny and such but it was jealousy - i didn't care much for her b/c she was very insecure. i felt once again, i was a young girl in college again - being around island ppl....i would love to meet drake and ask him did he feel left out and isolated because he wasn't from the islands - he makes me very proud being a blk canadian - his dad is african american and his mom is jewish. i still hv dealt w/racism not much with wht ppl, but with my own ppl - which is quite sad and on top of it-colorism, that also played a part from my family - being called pygmy, chocolate dip, nappy hair - it hurt but these so called relatives, they aren't all that anymore, they had hard lives as children...when ppl see something in you that is special and they don't have, that's when their ugliness shows -

The issue is that the intending migrants and the general public are ignorant as to asylum law. The public think of asylum as some far reaching, grandiose humanitarian gesture- when the truth is that asylum laws provide an EXTREMELY LIMITED basis of relief. \n\nMerely coming from a dangerous country is NOT enough to win asylum, in the U.S. or Canada. A person must prove they are specifically persecuted, by the GOVERNMENT, because of some specific basis. A Central American claiming Central America is full of gangs and poverty, while true, is NOT a basis for asylum. This is why it's my personal belief that the thousands of Haitians making a run for the Canadian border have an almost zero chance of receiving asylum- ESPECIALLY after NOT living in Haiti for many years. \n\nIn spite of this, migrants still make these claims because it forces the country to go through a time consuming legal process, and is a way to buy time and prevent their deportation. Or perhaps allow them time to find a local job, continue their education, or have a child born in the country and then make a humanitarian argument to allow them to stay, even after losing their asylum case. \n\nThe truth is, unless a country holds asylum seekers in detention for the entirety of the process, it's a given that failed asylum seekers will NOT return to their country of origin, and will simply go underground.

Many undocumented people that claim being threatened by the gangs are false. They leave their home because they just don't want to work for a little bit of money. They despite their own money currentcy and the prefer risk their lives to make the precious american dollars... It's all about the money.

My parents are immigrants and i told them the same thing, why dont people stay to make their country better? And they flat out told me it will get you killed. Americans have no idea how coniving amd evil leaders in other countries can be. Just the other day, a dictator from eritrea was bargaining prices with Israel to send back refugees from his country. He said the refugees fleeing his regime should be given 50k to be deported from isreal because they risked their lives. You would think he really meant that right? As soon as those refugees come back hes taking that money and sending them to a forced slavery like military program. There is no such thing as human rights. So if you were in such a dire situation, dont you think you would do anything to get out? America is not all about war war war and guns just because we have a big military jeez! I have often wondered why can't we have a healthcare system like Canada's but America spends all of it's money on so many things in the world because of our position on the world stage we just can't work that out, thats what happens when you're the world super power.\n Most Americans have health insurance through their employer, a certain amount is taken out of our paycheck every month and if I get sick or have an emergency I pay a small co pay at the doctors office which is 35 dollars and emergency room co pay is 150 the insurance pays the rest.

I could compared statistics all day, but some of the greatest counterpoints to Canada being better are the intangible attributes of the US. Academically, although Canada may rank higher on standardized tests of science or math, the US cultivates a culture of innovation, and the US is phenomenal at teaching students to challenge the status quo - the reason for so many cultural, scientific, technological innovations being done on American soil or by American minds. Furthermore, the culture in the US is irreplaceable - the amount of diversity, geographically, socially, demographically, makes the USA the great nation it is today.

When you come to the America's you have landed in the most free continent, where woman chose to wear, jeans( invented in the America's) bikinis( invented in the America's) plastic surgery( top of the world specialist). so when you hide you are not enjoying your full potential for freedom and you are not adapting to the American ways!!! America could make you great but we don't hide from freedom!!

Follow our laws & traditions or GET OUT!! Don't expect us to follow your laws & traditions when we go to your countries!! When people go to an islamic country they are expected to follow the islamic laws (eg. women are expected to wear a table cloth on their head - ludicrous!!). Yet the same is NOT respected for American laws - muslims do NOT respect our traditions or they would take off the bed sheets & table cloths while they are in our countries (as we wear them for you in yours). The problem is that most people who like immigrants dont understand the concept of assimilation. I have no problem with immigrants who assimilate, but when we have so many illegals who enjoy the benefits of the American constitution, without learning English, who dont learn American History or economics, dont pay taxes and then send whatever money they make out of country. As an atheist exmuslim who despises orthodox islam and jihadis, I have the ability to separate the regular muslims from the crazy ones. I have always admired Canada's openness and inclusivitiy which I believe is unrivalled in the world. However the hate speech in these comments are troubling. Not all americans are KKK members and not all muslims are jihadis. Speaking as a white man I have to admit I don't quite understand the need for anyone to organize as a race in Canada. First generation clubs from whatever country, sure, but as a race? Is it the elephant in the room... American slavery?  I can't help but think that most perceived problems blacks have in Canada are due to American issues we see in movies and media.\nWe in Canada bend over backwards to offer opportunity to succeed.
