My idiot cousin is hell bent on moving to Canada and his mother is forcing his dad to spend all their retirement money on this misadventure.

I’m an expatriate, currently in Malaysia. Honestly, I feel like it’s a heaven. Paying $600 per month for a 1550 sqft 3 beds big apartment and having 2 bunnies ?? as our pet. Maintaining a BMW 5 series car. I roughly make $110k-$120k a year and my overall expense in Malaysia about $36-40k yearly and having a lavished life. Every month me and my wife go for trip as it has so many beautiful places including stunning islands and highlands. The only issue is here they don’t provide PR or citizenship, however it’s a truly heaven if you have a solid visa status. I was planning to move to Canada but after watching the video I’ve been disappointed and I’m afraid to visit Canada. What do you think about moving to US?

Welcome to the Communist country of Canada. We have a mentally deranged dictator called Trudeau. Our Prime Minister is a laughing joke among the world leaders. The government of Canada is a joke. The unbelievable lack of any common sense is non-existent. I live in rural Alberta. The hatred for Trudeau is very evident. I was once a proud Canadian. I am now ashamed of what Trudeau has done to this country. He has bankrupted the country which is close to collapsing. There's not enough infrastructure to house or feed these people. The prices of groceries are out of this world. We often see a lack of grocery items in the stores. I have to purchase products online like Amazon. In the province of Alberta, there are no family Drs. to be had. The city of Edmonton has about 6 or 7 Drs. taking new patients. I would not recommend anyone to move to Canada. I would wait until the PC government gets into power and starts to rebuild this country. We need a government that has their feet firmly on the ground.

I'm born in the UK to Serbian parents, but grown up in Norway so I've seen three different cultures in my life all at once. I always liked Canada for being diverse because then I wouldn't have to switch between being English, Serbian or Norwegian, I could be more me because I am basically multicultural. For years I've idealised Canada and it wasn't until just two weeks ago that I got to visit and see for myself what Canada is like. I was in Toronto and also in Vancouver visiting a family that moved there from the UK I hadn't seen since I was a kid. I loved the nature (Especially Vancouver my god!) and the people, but I learned about how extremely expensive housing in Canada is to the point that it would be hard to make ends meet just renting a place let alone buying a house. Also how immigration is out of control and those who do come to Canada are disproportionately from one country being India rather than many different, which is not good for maintaining diversity. This is something I saw having lived most of my two weeks in Mississauga just south of the airport.\n\nI hope you guys finally get someone better in the next election, because I have more hopes for Canada than I do for the UK. I was born and raised in Canada, and I am in the process of looking to move abroad. I am done with this country and it's government.

This video, and especially its title, is amusing. I have yet to meet one single person who wants out. Our biggest problem is that half the world wants to move here. Since I don't want the viewers of this video to consider Canada, maybe I should agree that no-one has a home to live in, no-one can afford to eat and no-one can find work. But although my wife and I could live anywhere in the world we simply cannot find a better place than right here in British Columbia.

Born and raised in Canada. The rising cost of living is just depressing and I’ve basically given up on starting a family because of it here in Vancouver. I know that in order to move out of my parents house, I’d have to get a full time job, eat instant noodles only, and have at least five roommates in order to continue living here. Minimum wage in BC is $16/hr changing to $17/hr but living wage is at least $26/hr last I checked. It’s so sad because I love it here but it seems just seems impossible to be hopeful .

For long term it simply doesn't work. High taxes and impossible to buy a house. Moving to US after 2 years in Canada.

I read a statistic somewhere that %60 of Canadians age 18 to 60 live with their parents because they are either unemployed (like me) or can't afford to rent an apartment. I have currently been unemployed in Canada for the last year and I keep applying to jobs but have never gotten so much as an acknowledgement from any of the employers I have applied to. I only need another 10 months of experience with an employer to get my license to work on my own; and I can't do it! I am thinking of moving to the U.S.A. I just don't want to be unemployed anymore.

We moved from Ontario to Chilliwack, BC in 2020 and absolutely love here. We bought a home and life here is beautiful like the might Canadian Rockies, with mild climate and snow for just 2/3 days in year, BC is the best place to live in Canada

I've experienced life in Montreal and really enjoyed it, but living in the USA has its own unique advantages and challenges. While there are both positive and negative aspects to living here, overall, I find it quite comparable to other places I've known. One of the standout features of the USA is the affordability of housing combined with higher incomes, which makes financial planning more manageable. Additionally, I've found that making friends here seems easier, perhaps due to the country's diverse population. When I first moved here, before getting married, I effortlessly connected with many Americans who were welcoming and open.\n\nHowever, I do have concerns, particularly regarding safety issues like crime and school shootings, which is why I've opted for private schooling for my five-year-old daughter. This is an added expense, yet manageable given the higher income levels here, which still allow for a comfortable lifestyle in a sizeable home outside the city center. Many significant companies offer opportunities, especially in New Jersey where I live, and particularly for those with higher education in STEM fields.\n\nIn my experience, opportunities in Canada or Europe can seem more limited in comparison. Despite this, I envision retiring in Europe, drawn by its unique appeal and lifestyle.

As a Canadian, I like seeing this coverage of a very true issue. Currently, the polls say Pierre will get in the next election but how much good that will do - only time will tell. Currently if you can afford to move and don't have anything tying you down in Canada, you should move and many of my friends have. Some to Europe, some to the US. The best way of putting it is, it's just not worth it anymore.

I've honestly never really thought of it but as a Canadian that moved to the UK (Scotland specifically) it is crazy to have it broken down this way. My partner (Scottish) and I talked about the pros and cons in living in either country and we came to the conclusion is was better to live in the UK. TBF she is an engineer and in the future it may be better to live in Canada but right now between the salary and time off (20 day (CAD) vs her current 40 days off plus flexible working days (equals out to more like 44)) it's better to live in Scotland. I was also able to find a much better high paying job here in the UK (Edinburgh no less) than anywhere in Canada and have continued to work here in the UK cheaper.\n I hope to move back to Canada one day but don;' know if it will ever be possible.

A Canadian here who moved to the USA back in the 1990's. Back then, and even more so today, it was pointless with the Canadian tax structure to work hard and make higher income. So I moved to the USA, worked my ass off in a progressive tax structure and am now in a place of happiness and freedom in retirement. I visit Canada often enjoying a great exchange rate. It's heartbreaking to see everyone either work like crazy to be left with almost nothing after taxes, or my unemployed friends get almost as much after-tax on welfare who complain about how the schools, taxes and government service are going to immigration. I hope Canada can start developing an identity and work towards something more positive than simply growing the government unions.

Cost of living in Canada is higher than the US? Have you...actually ever been to the US? Or, looked at statistics like the CPI? I moved from England to Canada 5 years ago and my quality of life went up dramatically. Don't think it's any easier in other countries. The world is screwed rn.

@Harrison, there a bunch of holes in your story an thus superficial or lacking, yet has potential to be more Canadian in that you need to differentiate a bit more, attention in the details that you may have missed, votebank, Punjab province certain cluster of uncouth or gang type, instead of drawing in all religions and races and the best educated like how the US does with it, instead of a votebank cluster, that make up only 3% of the Indian population, yet 50% of Brampton, yet Canada is slower to do such. As I hope you know that, in that in Canada a city doesn’t usually choose newcomers directly factors of, ethnocentrism, pricing, etc are.  \n\nIt was or used to be that newcomers in many cases had to move to less populated centres i.e. in Saskatchewan/Manitoba etc, to help make the place more profitable and big as born Canadians usually didn’t want to move there. Back in the 90’s people were pushing to “vote for Clinton” - Husband and or wife because they wanted healthcare based on the “Canadian model”. Since 2016, many International Students started coming to Canada and they moved to Brampton in particular so they wouldn't have to assimilate into Canadian way of life. I'm a Punjabi kid born and raised in Canada, who grew up in Brampton. Brampton has gone to the shits post 2017/2018 when all these International Students invaded Brampton. The older Punjabi families are moving out of Brampton and are moving to other towns, while some of them rent out their old homes in Brampton to International Students. Old Punjabis are suffering from this the most, maybe you should've interviewed Canadian born Punjabis or Punjabis who have been in Canada for dozens of years instead of interviewing some new comers and a couple crackheads. Not only are these new International Students fucking up the neighbourhoods we've been living in, they've ruined our reputation that our parent's/grandparent's generation worked their ass off to establish in Canada. Canada wants Internation Student money, but at what cost? Canada is damaged beyond repair, young people should move

If i compare Today's Canada with my home country Greece during crisis period(2010-2017), the wages in my country was, and still is crap but the good thing was the extremely cheap housing due to a housing crash. That helped me buy two properties. Now it's almost impossible to be a first time buyer. Now also, especially after covid, the energy cost, food cost, made even people like me who are owners struggling to cover daily costs(living in my own property and renting out the other + working overtime). I decided to move to Copenhagen, but i quickly realised that it's not much better, and i couldn't use my qualifications. Now i'm working double the average person here to be able to afford to buy a sh*tbox in a smaller city, and i cannot sell any property back home bc i will pay a huge capital gain tax as a Danish tax resident. My rental income from Greece can't help to get bigger mortgage in Denmark, but i think my income is enough for anywhere outside Cph. ...i don't want to imagine how Canadian cities, London, Australian cities are for the average renter/1st time buyer!

Health care zero, Housing planning zero, Immigration overcrowded management zero. Why to move Canada?

I went for an academic internship in 2004 during my Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering to University of Texas Austin. A professor offered me a position in his research lab for master's, so it was more like studying in US free of cost and earning monthly stipend for doing research. \nI never considered this as permanent move but quality of research I did in US, the opportunities and salary I received I could never imagine that in Canada. I am still in touch with my university friends in Canada work at low wages on obsolete tech stuff, with no innovation at work. Many of them want to move to the US, but for 10+ years they worked on outdated stuff, so they cannot compete with the talent pool in US. Even in 2004, I remember healthcare being bad and I keep hearing stories about how worse it has become. In US, I am covered by a good health insurance, I had surgeries for myself and my kids, and we never had any issues. Honestly, I can no longer trust Canadian healthcare with insane wait times for my kids safety.

I've wanted to move to Canada since my childhood. The first time I tried was when I was 22 years old; I received a scholarship for Humber College. Unfortunately, my dream was postponed because I broke my leg. I attempted again at 25 years old, but I didn't have enough money for a comfortable immigration process. So, I decided to accumulate more funds and try again.\n\nNow, at 30 years old, I find myself in a different situation. I've just bought a big house, and I'm living a simple, calm life in Eastern Europe. Here, I have everything I need: a safe environment, the freedom to travel wherever I want, and minimal taxes in my industry. Healthcare is excellent, with no waiting times, and the food is amazing.\n\nDespite these comforts, I still have the opportunity to move to Canada. But I find myself questioning why I was so obsessed with it since childhood. I realize that I earn more in my home country than the average Canadian, even after taxes and rent. Perhaps Canada nowadays is more appealing to individuals from India, the Middle East, and Africa. If I were from these regions, I might still consider moving there. However, moving from Europe to Canada seems like the biggest mistake I could make right now. \n\nCons of Canada: 1) Misconception about communism. 2) High taxes, up to 50% in some cases. 3) Expensive rents(we all know u won't be able to buy anything decent there. 4) Perception of social conformity among Canadians, where sensitive topics may not be openly discussed for fear of judgment. 5) Disparity between the country's overall wealth and the financial struggles faced by some citizens.\n\nPros of Canada: well, I didn't find anything I could not find in other countries developed countries.

Canada hid its inflation in the housing market for a decade. The economy appeared to be growing, and real wages appeared to be staying in line with the consumer price index, but it was smoke and mirrors. If you removed real estate, GDP was stagnant. Wages were actually falling behind and people getting poorer and poorer without realising it. That’s finally become unsustainable, and inflation is showing up everywhere. And the wages are still stuck. The country is sitting on hugely valuable resources it could develop had it not put so many self-created political barriers in the way, and having indoctrinated their population about it along the way. Separately, The healthcare system is getting worse, consistently ranking 2nd last in the OECD in terms of real results delivered. The biggest problem is that the country’s economy is built on immigration to drive growth, rather than productivity, efficiency, or innovation. The more people you bring in, the more housing you need, but they’re at the point that they can’t keep up and people can hardly afford housing anyways. It’s a recipe for disaster. I left Canada by coincidence, having met someone from another country and moved there. I’m glad I left.

I left Canada in 1985. My grandparents were Canadian born, but I could see the trend in the 80’s when the first waves of Chinese were welcome to move to Canada with money, buy real estate, business interests, and provide tax dollars for a Government that was addicted to spending and would never satisfy their Liberal agenda, with the tax revenue alone from hard working, productive Canadians. I have never regretted my move, and have watched Canada sell citizenship and resident status to anyone with the cash. You reap what you sow. Canada has become a country of mutts, while a relatively small and declining population of native born Canadians pay high taxes, deal with crime and the raging drug crisis, fuelled by foreign immigrants who will never really put Canada first. Why should they? The Government has set an example of National prostitution, that begins with open borders and ends in despair.

It is so interesting how europeans whom have a notorious history for stealing people's lands, killing, raping etc. even till date, will come up on media to complain that some of their VICTIMS are migrating to a land (canada) which is not even originally european in the first place neither are the aborigines europeans. I am not indian, i don't support any evil done by any immigrant or any act of filth and disorderliness, i dont live in canada and never plan to live in canada but this is quite interesting. These immigrants are moving to canada without shedding no ones blood or raping anyone and it hurts you so called europeans like this. Now you europeans should put yourselves in their shoes to know how it felt when you entered their land uninvited, killed, maimed, raped, stole, oppressed, dehumanised etc. which you are even still doing till date systematically. I am not planning to move to Canada. Nevertheless: I simply like your video. It just. names facts! And it reminds me of my and other countries in Europe. The most common problem is the cost of housing! Nevertheless: Should you intend to move: The grass seems to be always greener on the other side ?. As you mentioned Germany and public transport: It depends where you live, but according to my experience they did a gr8 job in Munich, but the demand exceeds supply nowadays.
