Everyone has their own experiences. But the hospital incident I can relate. One time I took my son in emergency and the doctor gave anesthesia to my son in his finger and then got busy worh other patients and when she came back the affect was almost done and when she gave cut in his finger, he was in real pain and I was literally in tears. \nAfter few years when my situation was grave the head of the department herself took permission in the meeting for my immediate MRI which takes longer if you not in dire need.\n\nBut she gave the perfect review. Never come here to study in college. You won't get anything except wasting your money. For me it's been 20 years here. Life is not easy at all, but I'm used to it. May be because I don't need friends to share happiness or my sorrows. I'm a strong woman and can handle my ups and down. \nLife is all about paying bills and bills here and I now I don't have any regrets, so I'm okay with it. Winters are good as long as you have proper clothing and shoes. I never had an issue.

You're absolutely right Europe is not as big as North America, the biggest hurdle for me is the language. They've literally done it in a way that you can't do anything without learning the language and the language ain't easy to learn.

Firstly it’s not easy but at the end of it is would have been worthwhile it especially for your kids. Besides 2 months is too early to judge and make such a big decision. Lastly no one calls people to their country it your choice… you should be grateful you had family it was way easier for you. Fixing things is something you do anywhere in the world. Basement stay was a choice you should rent a house if you could afford it. Education system has changed world wide. I lived two years in the south of the usa (in Texas) during my childhood in the 90's and it wasn't so bad. Weather was great ! People nice and great ! I did love the school there, I learn English there and math was super easy. In Canada, I went in a catholic schools and we were obligated to say a prayer before class begin. My son grew up in Quebec, and they have a double everything. Not only was childbirth free, so were the pre-natal courses and everything else, AND we got around 1000$/mo in childcare benefits, until he turned 18, with full of tax credits per kid. Plus, daycare was 5$/day back then, it's 7$/day almost 20 years later.. Pretty citizen friendly. \nThings MIGHT be changing though. First lets mention what I like about the United States. Americans are easy to make friends with. They have no problem making friends with complete strangers. Americans can be very inviting to compared to many places I have traveled to. The only place that compares in Canada is Newfoundland. In Canada you generally need an invite to a group to make friends.\n\nI liked how varied each state is. Changing states can sometimes feel crossing into a new world of sorts. This change can be both good and bad (i.e. Georgia very educated, Tennessee quite backwater). \n\nWhat I don't like is how Americans are overly patriotic, they can be borderline nationalistic and it is creepy (i.e. school children pledging allegiance before they even know what that means). In Canada if I don't want to stand during the playing of the national anthem no problem I don't have to. If you do that in the United States someone will address you and not in a favorable way. I also find their patriotism blinds many Americans to the truth about their country (i.e. many American truly have no idea how they compare to the rest of the world in many areas).\n\nLastly their infrastructure is terrible. Their infrastructure is first class if you are a driving a car, but in many places you aren't getting anywhere without that car. Is that such an added expense to have to own a car. This is the same problem in Canada, but from having lived in Europe and Asia I miss good transit systems.

My daughter has been living there for last 7yrs now. She moved to Ottawa when she was only 18yrs old . Started at Carleton University. She did well at univ and now working at a reputed establishment. She also got her permanent residenship of Canada. So if a 18yr old can make it there all alone than why not anyone. Every place has its positive and negative. Weather is contrast but we get used to that too. Nothing comes easy in life, if you want to succeed it's totally on you. The people there are very polite and well natured. Standard of living in very good.

The people that come here thinking it is some easy life with gold paved streets you have NO IDEA. My mom came here when me and my sister were still very young. We lived in a tiny town my mom worked at a cannery and motel cleaning rooms. She worked 5 jobs before she saved enough to move to Toronto. We lived in a shelter for mothers and children in Toronto. We finally settled in affordable housing (after long waitlist). Folks be warned, it is not an easy life. The climb is challenging- it is a climb out of a pit up a mountain. The country is beautiful and peaceful but life is not easy. You have to work very hard to make a decent life for yourself.

I can't talk from a point of experience in Canada but from a point of experience in Kenya. Yes things are tough everywhere but I believe things are tuffer here in Kenya, well unless you have a good job, good business or money to invest. I have done of research about Canada, Germany, UK and even Finland. What I have learnt is that opportunities are there as opposed to Kenya. Here in Kenya it's doesn't matter if you have a skill, or papers getting a job is not easy and even harder is getting a good paying job. Most people makes less 10 CAdollars per day which today 1000 or 30 per month minimum wage in Canada is i guess 14.5 in the less expensive provinces. If you work 14 hours per \nDay which I believe possible you have about uko na 20k in ksh, pay tax of maybe 30% combined you have about 130 cad per day work for 25 days in a month you will have about 3250 net stay in most affordable place(hujaenda raha) you can get 1250 in low cost province (not Ontario or BC though here minimum wage iko juu), groceries and expenses budget 1000 per month you can save about 100k ksh pm, save in Cad for few years stay like a student on the budget but work like a donkey. Come back home in few years lets say 5 with save coins probably CAD will trading at 150 coz the hit shilling is taking mind-blowing. You will have 6m to invest any interest or forex gain use them to cover your vacation here in Kenya yes land in Diani you will have missed such weather, enda masai Mara (you deserve it), go visit your parents and most importantly find an investment opportunity you can do real estate but find ideal location but only if you have enough capital ya kujenga and then find someone professional to manage the construction not sending money to your relatives wanapiga sherehe nazo unatumiwa picha za mjengo za nyumba za wenyewe. You need a second job and the more you earn the more you're taxed.\nEven those high skilled people can only live comfortably only as working couple because as a single high skilled person even if you make more than $100k a year for you to live a good life here isn't easy. Yes of course, it's still better than the most african countries, but for those doing well in Africa already don't come here, come when you're hardly earning a living in Africa. \nNB: People who make $100k in Canada are less than 11% of the whole population. That's 4257000 million out of 38.7 canadians. The rest are considered low income generating workers who hardly afford things.
