We in USA can wait 8 hrs in ER also then u have a huge bill for it. If we could take the both good ideas of each. Ambulance costs over $1,000 & with covid, flu & RSV ERs r full. So get vaccd & that solves that prob. Canada wouldnt take me bc I need back surgery & Canadians shouldnt have to pay taxes for me & I get it. $3,000 for a 1bdrm in my City.

The Medical System Is Lousy.. My father was an American, He Got Sick.. THEY WOULD NOT DEAL WITH HIM.. MY BROTHER HAD TO DRIVE HIM BACK HERE IN THE UNITED STATES.. WHEN MY FATHER GOT HERE.. HE WAS PUT IN THE HOSPITAL AND ABOUT 3 WEEKS LATER HE DIED..

So much like Australia, you get low income, you are poor, and if you get high income you can pay over 50% in tax and so you still are poor. We have healthcare but in case of emergency you wait all day to see a doctor. If you are not sick waiting that long will make you sick.\nAlso it's a huge country, one would assume land would be cheap but average cost of property is about one million.

Canada is the worst place to live, high taxes, cold ? winters, low paying jobs, home sickness, loneliness, its just not worth it..

And what about schools and daycares? It is sick and I am totally fed up.

I was born and raised in Canada. My family immigrated in the 70s. Growing up I was proud to be Canadian but after living in other parts of the world I can tell you, Canada isn't it! \n\nFirstly our Prime Minister is a puppet he works for the Commonwealth and whatever they say goes, they profit off all of your hard work. \nThey keep you sick so you rely on the health care system. Medicate you instead of solving the problem. Doctors are exhausted, rude and over worked, emergency rooms are a disaster and if you book an appointment to see your doctor...be sure you're waiting at least a week. If you go to a walk in clinic you risk getting a doctor that seems like they paid for a fake degree.\n\nYou know when you go to a mall in one town and then hear about a mall in another town that has really cool different things??? Ya, not here! Everything is monopolized! Same stores everywhere you go. there's a mall in Toronto called Vaughn Mills mall, when I was in Calgary they have an exact replica just a different name. Small businesses are hard to keep because everything is so expensive. Got forbid you get sick in America you go bankrupt. You get paid more in the states... lol some states minimum wage is 5 to 7 dollars. Every country has a staffing problem in medical field. About the overwhelming healthcare part - my question and issue is why are so many people getting sick and needing the care so often? Maybe the government should look into addressing that.

I was born and raised in Canada and left 30 years ago. I went to Vancouver about 10 years ago to visit family and I also found it ugly. The big glass buildings looked so dirty and outdated. It felt like an old outdated logging town. Like most Canadians, I used to be proud of the medical system but now I've realized it doesn't cure people it just keeps the citizens sick. Everyone I know there is sick and they are all proud of how many operations they've had and how many pills they take. I remember paying 30% in taxes as a University student with a part-time job. It just wasn't fair. The last straw was when I saw how the Trudeau government responded during covid. They hijacking the news stations and brainwashed the citizens. And then, they froze bank accounts of those who dared to protest or even support protesters. I lost a lot of respect for people there who I thought were intelligent and It made me realize how that place turns people into drones. Now I'm ashamed to be Canadian. Most Canadians live in a bubble and think it's the best country in the world but that's because they don't know what it's like to live. Good for you for leaving. I wish you all the best.

As a Canadian from Québec I can tell you that you're right. The truth is we get fucked by our government since over 20 years. They invent new taxes, they steal more on our paycheck. I'm soon 30 and I can't still afford for a house when in 2000s with my actual salary I could've afford a house easily. We're sick of this lifestyle too so I understand completely why you're leaving except for the weather because I'm used to it unfortunately ?

Yes, only 2 weeks vacation but you also get sick leave that you can not only bank over years but use as extra vacation days.

Interesting points, I’ve had friends leave but they always preserve their citizen status just in case they get sick. Health care is so expensive for example in the US that people lose their homes to pay for surgeries and medications like insulin. So its definitely valuable to be Canadian if just for health cost reasons. Have the people that you know that have left Canada renounced their Canadian citizenship?

Try going to America for their health care, you pay health insurance, but have to wait ages at emergency, you may get an op faster but if your plan does not cover all your costs you will need to get a loan, some people have to sell their homes. Yes they let you have a holiday or a sick day off but you don't get paid. Looking over the fence and chasing after the pot of gold has its downfall and believe me if home was a safe place, then staying would have been your best option.

You don't get a reward or a claim for car insurance unless you get in accident ffs. And there an no amenities? Taxes? The good roads you drive your car on, the hospitals etc, they don't just appear magically - do they? Boring? However, I realized that there was no equal opportunity for the basic public services or fair and equal protection under the law for me (cronyism among people with authority in the public services was bad). I could not see things were getting any better, and felt risky staying there. I was also getting sick of those fraudsters.. individuals and organizations .. just too many..

I’m not gonna hate on you, but I am gonna say something that is directed towards your comment section and your opinion. I’m sick of Americans and Canadians bitching and saying Europe is better. Europe most of the time sucks, especially Eastern Europe where I originally grew up. Europe happens to be more depressing also than the USA/Canada in my opinion. For me personally moving to Ontario was the best decision ever and I would never, in a hundred years move to Europe. Maybe Italy or the Netherlands are one of the only countries in Europe which life would be as great, as it is here.
