Great assessment. My wife left Vancouver 22yrs ago. It was bad then and has only gotten worse. Sadly the residents would rather smoke a joint than vote for a conservative govt and attend a church. Forget about GOD can't be surprised when he forgets about you. That said Australia is not much better and getting worse by the day. The reason govts love immigrants is because they bring money in and are obivious to the local politics so the govts simply continue to introduce more and more corrupt policies every year. Even after they become citizens they remained divided on political thought because they tend to have a duality of mindset which says, if it all goes bad I will go back to where I came from. Meanwhile the local population is so busy applauding a PM like Trudeau who leagalises pot so they can be so stoned while there country is stolen right out from under them. The country always gets the govt the country deserves. Place your faithin JESUS CHRIST for he is the only one who can save you, not a corrupt govt. REPENT and come to CHRIST! \nAs I said earlier, not trying to pick on Canadians as Australians are no better. Why does everyone expect us to welcome everyone with open arms? And why should my country (Poland) end up like England or France? that my girlfriend would be afraid to leave the house at night because someone would attack her. As an immigrant, I would say bring down the numbers substantially, bring only the creamy layer that can benefit this country, stop illegal migrants and refugees for political appeasement and vote bank, strenghten law enforcement and punish the offenders severly to set an example

Without a LOT of immigration the truth is that western countries like Canada and most European countries would simply collapse in a few decades for the problem of demographic decrease... My european country of 10 million habitants is being literally 'invaded' by a huge influx of immigrants as we speak and to be honest there is no other way to make the country viable in the long term. We the western people stopped having kids decades ago and now there's no turning back...

It's genuinely exhausting to watch even so-called progressive outlets like the guardian foment fear and anger against migrants and refugees rather than someone, anyone, possibly questioning whether the incentives for property developers and landlords might, in-fact, be a potential factor in the ongoing housing crisis. But sure, it must be immigration to blame for the exact same housing crisis happening across Canada, Australia, the US, the UK and half of Europe, must be just that one simple factor and definitely not any other systemic or economic factors which might underlie how housing, governance, and migration are linked. \n\nBecause all of those countries certainly have one thing in common, and you're all correct, they all have identical immigration policies, right? Right? Couldn't be the hyper-commodification of housing and development rights stoked under the neo-liberal systems of governance which ACTUALLY forms a shared commonality between these countries. just issue millions of permits to live on the shield in a large trailer. Lots of jobs to be had in emptying grey and black water, trash and recycling, and refilling the potable water tanks. No matter where you live in Canada we are bombarded with American News so we can see all the bad things that happen in the US. Canadian news is designed to be more of an informative format whereas American News is much more sensationalized so we don't always get to see through the crap! I would agree that much of the USA is quite safe but the reality is that anyone wanting to move from Canada to the USA is more likely to find their best opportunities in larger urban centers where all these concerns become far more real.

People I know you don't want to hear this, but it looks like we may have to fight. Right now, we are in political turmoil and so they feel we are weak and would be the best time to run over us. They're not leaving unless the system puts them in jail somewhere.

These immigrants are driving our streets without a driver's license or insurance and are being let go by law enforcement. Ok, Canada didn't create proper housing since the 90's. Solid statement. That doesn't negate the fact that we are a cup that can hold not another drop of water. Why would you continue to pour into that cup?!?

Place people in places and jobs where we need the workers and the housing isnt over occupied outside of the overcummbered gta and where labourers are needed. But if you tell people they need to go work a gas line out west or mine up north in the cold instead off over populating the major metropolitan places would they still come? Is there not still lots of affordable rural canadian residences all over the country but you may not have the creature comforts of the biggers metro areas.

Canada used to have a fairly sane immigration policy - immigrants needed to have a level of education and/or skills that would contribute to areas of Canada's economy and growth - skills or education in fields where there was need for people. Part of the problem now is that so many people are allowed in as refugees, with no usable or useful skills. Another part of the problem is that Canada does not have the infrastructure to accommodate so many more people - we should first build the infrastructure, then allow just the number of people we can house and employ. Another policy should be that our local and provincial governments should have decision making authority where immigrants settle. Huge influxes of people into already crowded urban centers makes no sense - immigrants need to be told what areas of Canada they may go to.\n\nNo culture or group can maintain identity and stability if overwhelmed by large numbers of outsiders. We should limit immigration to the number of foreign cultures and languages that can be successfully integrated into our society.

The video literally calls out the fact that the Canadian economy needs immigrant workers and that the problem is an artificially constricted housing market and the comments are all still providing excuses why Canada should commit economic suicide by restricting immigration lol. You would think these people are de-growthers, which would be valid, but they still want their exponential economic growth cake and eat it all by themselves.

Republicans and Trump voted against the bill that would have addressed the immigration problem at the border! Republicans said that they were waiting until Trump is in power to fix this problem. They did not want Democrats to fix it so they can use it in their ampaign to win 2024.

I am a permanent resident of Canada and born in the US. I live right outside of Montreal. I actually went to Plattsburgh, NY three times in past two months and each time while on my way back from Plattsburgh, I would encounter several migrants at the bus stop shown on the video. In one of my encounters I saw a group of them wearing ankle monitors. I would see vans standing at the gas station picking up and dropping off migrants. These drivers are helping the problem just to make money. I just heard on the news that greyhound changed the bus stop in Plattsburgh a couple of weeks ago and I wonder if it's because of the illegal migrants. I have been going to Plattsburgh by bus for many years and I've never seen migrants inundate the area as I have in the past year. I knew about Mexicans flying over to Canada so they can walk across the boarder into the US but I didn't know it was this bad. I don't see this problem going away unless Canada works with the US to solve it. It's getting scary out there because there are criminals who has committed serious crimes in their home country and come here on a clean slate to continue their criminal activity. When does this torture end?

I am all for immigration if it is adding a benefit. Right now the government is using immigration to juice up gdp numbers, the trade off is weaker gdp per capita, lower living standards and higher unemployment = more gov spending and less productivity. Need to focus more on quality and it would be nice to see more diversity in the targets.

The cartel guys are resourceful, they probably charge the same but less hassle to use the northern border. If I would be the cartel I would send endless amount of people and charge them when they have arrived at the destination. As NY give them money I would take 10% for the first year for example. Easy money and not illegal. As long as the money keep coming the people will turn up.

Canada brought in 1 million immigrants from Jan 2021- Dec 2023, a 2.5% population increase. That, would be the equivalent of 8.75 million immigrants coming across the southern border over 2 years. Canada doesn't have jobs or housing for many, there's no checks and balances to see who are criminals. America needs to close their borders because 13000 asylum seekers is only the beginning. More and more immigrants to Canada are finding out it's too expensive to live here, and they have no future here. That, will force them south before they choose to go back to where they came from.
