I wished I had money to get out of this country! And I was born here! Stupid taxes, food prices are nuts! No social help for people who can't physically work, no doctor , so no disability! At least in the states the food and taxes are much less.

Arbitrary immigration targets are simultaneously increasing demand and suppressing wage growth. There are better ways to control immigration. I would suggest demand based approach with some guard rails in place. For instance, I would require all educational institutions to provide housing for international student (at least 50%). Businesses should be required to provide accommodation to all temporary/seasonal workers on top of the minimum wage. In order to hire foreigners employers should be required to prove that they are paying enough to afford housing in the region (market cost of accommodation is less than 30% of salary). Accommodation for refugees should be secured before bringing them to the country from around the globe. No accommodation = no permits. It would limit demand and prevent wage suppression.

Living standard has raised up all around the world, so moving to West is not wow anymore. At least in Canada your kids can consider themselves Canadians. I am 66 , I had to take my ill wife to emergency at the Peterborough hospital about 3 months ago. After sitting for 2.5 hours in an over crowded emergency room, I asked how much longer before we see a doctor. We were told by a nurse it would be another few hours at least and it could be up to 5 more hours after that to see the specialist she needed. So the wait could be 10.5 hours, we waited 2 more hours, then we got up and left. If we ever go back it will be in an ambulance. But to be honest We are done with this broken, rotting health care system. I blame the bum that has destroyed this country and destroyed the Canadian health care system.

Why would you say the “cost of healthcare in Canada is higher than in Europe” when it’s literally paid-for by our taxes? This harms critical thinkers and innovators who often leave to the US or China, but also immigrants who have even larger barriers to working within the status quo. \n\nEven among better bosses I have had, I notice this tendency towards intense discomfort with ideas that come from outside of their direct experience. Though at least with my current boss and one other I had in the past, there is an intellectual curiosity and empathy which helps them gradually open up to unfamiliar things (and they're just awesome people in general). I will tell you all something funny, Canada made me a citizen in just two weeks. This happened in Sept of 1987, and it was done via the Canadian citizenship centre in Mississauga Ontario. I had an interview with the judge, who was from Pakistan (that is not a lie), then I was sworn in as a Canadian citizen in the chamber and a government employee as a witness. You have a right to a land, as well as obligations and responsabilities for inhabitating that land. Yes. Canada is not like what used to be as a good country to immigrate to in mid or late 1970s. Unfortunately, job opportunities, salary, wages have not kept us with high cost of living in cities like Toronto and Vancouver. Also, road infrastruture have not kept 12:12 up with population growth. People should do research, check out more before immigrating to Canada these days. If you are moving to Canada for peace and political stability, then yes. Otherwise, think twice! Also, the requirement for Canadian employers to ask for Canadian experience has existed since at least the 70s. But it is absurd and stupid for employers to ask job applicants for Canadian experience since the world is highly interconnected through internet these days. Provided you are working in western world or English speaking countries, job functions and management styles are basically very similar whether it is high tech industry, banking, investment companies etc.

It's very sad actually. It had so much potential but overpopulation, COVID and gov policies ruined it. At least that's what I think.
