I came to Canada to travel but on an immigration visa in 1965, I got a job from Canada employment centre for 1.50 where nobody spoke english , I quit after 1 day. A week later I found a job in the machineshop for 3.00 Dollars. Good thing the foreman found a portugiese employee who translated from spanish to english, I myself spoke german, ever since then I did I was on the upswing. The government gave me nothing, had enough money to go back. Always a dictionary in my pocket. In six weeks i know enough english to make the driverlicence and bought a car.

I moved to Halifax from India. Lived there 2 years, moved to Etobicoke then Kitchener, then Waterloo and now leaving in Brampton.\nIts been 7 years in Canada and 1.5 years in Brampton.\n\nWhen someone asks me why you live in Brampton, it’s unsafe city or ghetto. I am like hell no, never leaving Brampton. Brampton is safe city compare to some other GTA cities, look at statistics. Its just have bad name because of lots of south asian people.\n\nBrampton is brampton, only place I feel belonged and enjoying living in Canada with little Indian tweest. \n\nBrampton takes away our dependency on cooking during hectic days as restaurants are hell cheap, easy to find home-cooked tiffin with lots of options. Main reason easy to find Gujarati foods and other vegetarian food. Tons of pure vegetarian Indian restaurants in Brampton.\n\nGreat feelings come when you are tried and don’t want to cook and at same time don’t want to eat in restaurants then home-cooked food is always available to your neighbourhood for just 6-7 dollar.

What I would like to know is why in the case of roxum road crossing we never saw any US officials there stopping people from illegally leaving the US hmmm! We had the RCMP there all be it as bellboys but they were a least present. I am glad I love Canada and the fact I dont want to leave, this is tought o watch because as a Canadian with Canadian values when we see people in trouble this nation has always offered help to others less fortunate. You're lucky if you can even find a LEGAL small 1 bedroom basement for $800/month. Its not common. \nA car? Brampton has the highest insurance premium in all of Canada. \n\nDon't get me wrong. I LOVE Canada, I couldn't see myself living anywhere else because it is my home. \nHowever, when you compare it to india, in India you're only paying for electricity, gas, and food that you need to buy at the grocery store. \nBut if you really needed to budget and save money, food is LITERALLY growing in your backyard! All the veggies, fruits, etc. You just need to buy the grains and proteins! \n1.5 lakhs sounds great per month. But 1.5 lakhs is realistically not enough to live in Canada. \n\nDon't believe me? Google cost of living in Canada. Google how much a family of 4 would need to make to survive per month in Canada. Also, make sure to check out CANADIAN WEBSITES for this data. (.ca sites or try Global News or CTV news since they have this data)\n\nThe problem is everyone that comes to Canada always comes only to one area which is usually Toronto! However this makes the cost of living go up to accommodate this many people. Compared to Regina, or St. John's not many people immigrate there! It is a smaller city compared to Toronto but at least it's more affordable.\nDo you're research before coming here. Find out whats the best situation for YOUR FAMILY and what YOU can afford. \nCanada is a beautiful place, and yes, Brampton does have a lot of the Punjab culture, but don't be fooled. I have no idea what Trudeau said to give this false hope, but it has always been my understanding that Canada has very stiff immigration laws.

I used to live in Brampton and this is the city where I first landed. No hatred for the city but people have ruined it. I'm a brown guy myself so I can't be racist against my own people and tbh, some of the best people I know in Canada are Sikhs but even they accept the fact that there is a large number of bad apples in their community. Sikhs have played a major part in both positive and negative way, to make and break this city.\n\nInsurance scams in Brampton cost their citizens to pay one of the highest premiums in the country. Generally, drivers in Brampton have no fuckin' idea how to drive because the licences were literally bought. \n\nA large number of people of our brown community always hell bent on abusing the system, wherever they go. We bring the same back home mindset here in Canada rather follow the system. \n\nThe only thing mostly brown community is focused on is how to make money and that's all. Don't try to learn the language, don't like to mix with people, don't care about the laws or anything. They only like to have nice big houses, show off their leased fancy cars and that's all.\n\nI left this city for good and don't regret my decision at all when I see numerous videos about the bad situation in Brampton. I'd love to move back to Ontario but cannot live in this city anymore. One thing really pissed me off when I was there that most people expect every brown person to speak Punjabi and when I used to tell them that I don't speak or understand Punjabi, you could see the surprized looks on their face.

I am an international student from China and I living in Canada now. I have to say not all the local people who living in here are racists and some of them will say hi to me and showed their kindness, I also meet some racists but that will not effect my opinions to Canada because my family usually to praise Canada when I was a kid and I still can feel the warm the local people bring to me. I love Canada as a Chinese and I tried to be humble and smell to everyone I meet but some of them always looking for my trouble.

What a great show. I wish there was a black celebration centre in every big city in Canada. It's wonderful to share this information with my children although it is not enough. Also, Jamaican restaurants are always empty in BC. I always wonder why the food is so good and the restaurants are empty. The chairs need to be comfortable and I like it when there is already a table or two of people (it's like a testimonial without words...) You could perhaps let a table of people eat for free if they stay there all day - it would help.

I was born in Seattle and left to Canada (married) when I was in early 20's!  This then was a good change for me as Vancouver was a great city compared to Seattle, moved right downtown and had a blast so for a young person (then) was great.  Met some great people from all over the world and had health care, medical/Dental etc.... I worked in the greater Vancouver area for 8 years and it was tough, very strict, and did not help that I was from the states, white bread Canadian seemed a bit jealous that I was there, sometimes not very friendly.  The Europeans I met were actually better to deal with and I got along quite well with them.  The cost of living was about the same as in Seattle.  After about 8 years being in Canada and working hard I saw America booming and the Canadian dollar was as low as $.62 cents (in late 90's) so I took my craft from Vancouver and brought it to the US just across the border, I became much happier working in the States, I took a little bit of bs but not bad from some that I had a Canadian accent (go figure when I moved up there I had a twang) I really never left the united states I will always be American and I have been still working in the US for over 20 years and deal with mainly Americans on a daily basis from all over the State of Washington.  Depending on where you grow up or end up you should never see a border Seattle and Vancouver have more in common than Vancouver / Calgary in fact most Canadians don't care much for the other provinces.  After 30 years of being part of both countries, I can say that people are people both have great offerings and if you took the best of Canada and America to combine then we would all prosper, there is so much both can learn from each other.  Bottom line:I take the best of both worlds and what they have to offer, yes, I have found less expensive goods in Canada than what they cost in the states.  I have seen it from both eyes, and if you cant be open culturally then stay away.

If these Muslim women do harm to you, you can not identify them because not only is their hair covered, even their faces are covered. I personally feel uneasy when I am with individuals whose faces and heads are covered up whatever their religion is. They can see my face and hair fully but I can not identify them because they hide their faces, hair and whole body behind the nikab and hijab and burka. I live in Canada and I can tell you a lot of people here don't like it. Would you like it to happen in your home country? Millions of people from different cultures come in and change the culture of your country? We will have no white majority countries soon. You will always be able to go back and experience your culture. It is only western countries that are expected to dilute their land.

The only Blacks allowed to live in Canada are those that are from the Caribbean Islands as part of North America and the Royals as Knights of Canada who are Black Indians as Métis and they are the famous Singers in Toronto and also famous Hollywood Actors. Nobody else is allowed to be here except Black Americans but they never are here in Canada. The only time we ever had African Americans in Canada were the ones using the Underground Railroad to escape Slavery in southern USA from English Slave traders in the South. They were here in Toronto in 1814 and stayed for 13 months and then left again as it is too cold here for Africans and they got help to avoid Andrew Jackson and his slave traders to escape back to Africa to the Ivory Coast. It was too dangerous though for her to work with the walking bomb clones of Megan Markle and Sarah Rafferty coming in to the office so she left and I had to take over her role as the Black Lawyer in Suits so by Season 3 I had to take over almost completely but she did a lot of the lawyering scenes and really deserves the credit as a really good lawyer who us real. She won the Emmy and deserved it as the only Female Black Actress to win any Award ever. So congratulations to her as a great Actress. growing up in canada, i felt left out in the blk community b/c i am a 5th generation blk cdn on mom's side and 3rd on my dad's - when other black ppl not canadian born met me - i tell them i'm cdn, but i always used to get the question - where are you really from - they were looking for me to say the islands - when i told them my paternal grandma was born in 1901 in canada - that's when the questions stopped. i've been told that b/c i wasn't from the islands, i had no culture in college, but a mbr of the black student society put him in his place i heard he got into a lot of trouble. i was asked what do we eat as in food as canadians what kind of music do we listen to - at our blk canadian weddings, the only carribean song played was hot hot hot by arrow - we played straight up r and b and motown. i hv been rejected by other blk men b/c i'm not west indian enough...it was hurtful. even with 'friends' they made of my cdn heritage but i used to think, why are you making fun of me knowing that my family and ancestors were in canada first - they were 1st generation - i live in the usa now and i'm with an african american man - he has never treated me as if i were different and he loves going w/me to canada. my parents told me it was jealousy on those ppl's parts - one guy i used to be friends with in college, when i went to his house, his mom was from the islands, when she met me - she said, 'you cdn ppl are loud' and that did it for me - i didn't date her son but when he met my parents, they never said any of that crap to him. in the usa, the african americans don't treat differently at all - my ex mom in law thought we were american but decided to live in canada - b/c she was surprised that blacks do live in canada. her other daughter in law's family were from the islands - but she gravitated more to my family and felt comfortable around them more than her family and this ex sis in law would brag about the islands this and that and she would make comments about my looks being skinny and such but it was jealousy - i didn't care much for her b/c she was very insecure. i felt once again, i was a young girl in college again - being around island ppl....i would love to meet drake and ask him did he feel left out and isolated because he wasn't from the islands - he makes me very proud being a blk canadian - his dad is african american and his mom is jewish. i still hv dealt w/racism not much with wht ppl, but with my own ppl - which is quite sad and on top of it-colorism, that also played a part from my family - being called pygmy, chocolate dip, nappy hair - it hurt but these so called relatives, they aren't all that anymore, they had hard lives as children...when ppl see something in you that is special and they don't have, that's when their ugliness shows -

Been in canada for 10 yrs never been sick. Only time I needed heath services was for my 1rst child last year. Went 7 months of pregnancy tests and exams paid nothing.\nI spent 2 months in NICU didn't pay a dime.\nTook 6 months parental leave still got income coming (could have taken 12 months since my spouse doesn't work).\nI don't care how rich I get. I'll always support universal health care. It worked for me.

I am an African-American male. It it not very shocking to me that slavery existed in Canada. However, as a child in school,I was always taught that slaves escaped to Canada. What happened to these former slaves? Unlike the U.S these black Canadians have been able to keep their identity, mainly their name instead of taking the names of their masters.

Send the Mounties in to sort out the Islamic threat in Canada. They always get their man.
