I have only been in Canada for seven months now, but I noticed a few things about its economy that led to this mess. I noticed that Canada has no globalized companies, meaning the government only makes a little money from doing business with other nations. Businesses here are lazier than their neighbor, the USA, or even in my country, Vietnam, which could be due to a lack of competitors. Cad also has the biggest forest reserve and largest oil deposit but is the lowest exporter. So I wonder how on Earth it stays in the top 10 wealthiest countries with such lazy activities. Up to this point, foreigners are the biggest income of Canada; this country is truly built on immigrants. To keep the country running, it must attract more foreigners. Without int' students, how much do citizens have to pay to keep schools running? If you view it differently, the government also sells the PR through SV Visa because, let's be honest, if millions of investors have invested, there should be something or at least one globalized company, but there are none. From $75k to $200k, foreigners can buy PR for every family member. It is considered affordable for Asian families compared to the USA or Australia. On top of that, another scam is a carbon tax, which means the government needs to learn how to make money rather than invent taxes and sell dreams to foreigners.

The First Americans were pushed off lands and given Casinos Europeans were the first illegals acting like they didn't cross a whole ocean to get here and if they do build a wall its not to keep people out but to keep you in but nobody's worried about a National debt that no one will be around to see get paid off America it's always someone else to blame one side to every story regardless if it's the truth or not

We’re missing half the story. We didn’t see what enabled the customer to react. And inspired him to begin recording. I'm Canadian. Canada isn't the same anymore. Everyone is basically broke right now, no onr can find work, and if you can, you still won't be making enough to keep up with inflation. Mortages and rent have doubled, food prices are robbing us, and we are taxed significantly only for our tax dollars to be wasted. \n\nAnother issue is Crime. \nCrime has gone up, Especially in the past few years. Not only car thefts and scams, but violent crime too. Every week, an international student, or immigrant is charged with the murder of someone in my city. \n\nMy biggest issue is that they can't find drive very well either.\n\nI'm not racist. Its important to have an open mind and be accepting towards other cultures. However, our country has fallen. I mostly blame Trudeau, his government is very incompetent. He has ruined our country

I live in Niagara Falls all my life. I can’t afford to keep my self and son fed without assistance or barley keep the lights . 10 mins away they are living in hotels, getting food, diapers. Hygiene all for free as well as a monthly pre paid card or cheque from 1800-2800 a month… I’ve lived here and payed taxes for over 30 years. Where is my help?

It's genuinely exhausting to watch even so-called progressive outlets like the guardian foment fear and anger against migrants and refugees rather than someone, anyone, possibly questioning whether the incentives for property developers and landlords might, in-fact, be a potential factor in the ongoing housing crisis. But sure, it must be immigration to blame for the exact same housing crisis happening across Canada, Australia, the US, the UK and half of Europe, must be just that one simple factor and definitely not any other systemic or economic factors which might underlie how housing, governance, and migration are linked. \n\nBecause all of those countries certainly have one thing in common, and you're all correct, they all have identical immigration policies, right? Right? Couldn't be the hyper-commodification of housing and development rights stoked under the neo-liberal systems of governance which ACTUALLY forms a shared commonality between these countries. But that would be hard to think about, best just to blame the immigrants, makes life easy breezy. Can't see any problems down the line with that line of thought, right Britain? There should be some accountability.. how many people are you bringing. Do they add value to the system for growth or disttruction ? Keep a limit and bring quality more than quantity. Now it's too late. the damage is done. Like an oldsaying, prevention is better than cure.

I arrived in 2012 originally from Australia. I’m now a citizen and I learned a trade here too. I’m on a decent wage and I can’t keep up and can’t imagine I’ll ever own my own home here. We’re not against immigration but it needs to be slowed dramatically by about 90% for a few years. I’m being forced back to Australia to seek financial help from my family to hopefully purchase a property back there. The Canadian dream is dead and there’s also to many Indians here.

Because Canadian born students with exceptional grades have difficulty accessing post secondary money first institutions perhaps? Or when non-canadian born immigrants purchase a gas station and purge the canadin born kids and hire one race? Or when non-canadian born managers only hire from their ethnic group in security jobs? Because temporary foriegn workers keep wages low? I guess they're paying CPP to keep it afloat.

just issue millions of permits to live on the shield in a large trailer. Lots of jobs to be had in emptying grey and black water, trash and recycling, and refilling the potable water tanks. Snow removal, lawn care, h-vac... I could keep going. Then there's the need for a feature industry that actually produces value. I'm an immigrant in Canada (Since 2003) and I support controlled immigration, last few years have been a disaster. We cant keep bringing in 100s of thousands of people. Stop this insanity.

Most Canadians are tolerant to immigration. However, we are fed up with the large number of immigrants the Federal government keeps bringing in. We have a massive housing shortage and they still increase immigration despite the shortage. The Federal Liberals believe housing speculators are the problem, so they put in a vacant home tax to prevent it, but how do you enforce this?\nThe real solution is to roll back immigration to 250,000 new Canadians a year until the housing shortage is somewhat taken care of.

The wealth taken from the people, usually funneled through large mega-companies where people get many of their basic needs met, does not stay in the neighborhoods and does not go into infrastructure, jobs training, and other programs that would actually raise the standard and ease of living. \n\nInstead the wealth is concentrated, finacialized, and a small portion is given to politicians to keep the system functioning exactly as it is for the wealthy at the expense of regular people. Increased immigration only makes the lack of these basic services more apparent.

Hating the common folk, including refugees and migrants is exactly what the elites want us to do. Keep the attention away from those who really make this happen.

The Trudeau Liberals have used immigration to keep top line GDP numbers high. What people don’t talk about are GDP per capita figures falling below 2014 levels. As a son of an immigrant, immigration is not the issue. Quality immigration is. These days all Canada is bringing in are students that make college and university owners rich and keeps businesses like Tim Horton's running with low spending. While the big corporations get rich, every Canadian is being hurt.

How do you call it scapegoating immigration for the housing shortage? Is it the biggest issue? Yes. You can't increase the population by 8 million people in a decade and not expect it to stretch not only housing but Healthcare as well. It doesn't make you a racist to be upset about that. Sure the infrastructure needed to be increased but that has to be paid for in advance of immigrants coming and with so many people on the poverty line who should pay for that? You make it seem like it's our duty to take in and provide all the services necessary, it's not. If the immigration wasn't so out of control the systems would be able to keep pace and people wouldn't be so upset. So stop gaslighting everyone that is upset with the massive increase in immigration and all the issues it has caused!

Why did we keep quiet for the past 2 decades when our government was not increasing incomes, didn't focus on housing supply especially cheaper apartments, but banks and politicians together put 4 times more burden on us when it comes to monthly mortgages or rents and groceries, now suddenly we call immigrants as the problem for everything. How will Canada impress the world if it targets the weakest people in Canada rather than working on the core issues, the poor refugees and immigrants who were welcome with open arms can never influence the powerful think about it dear Canadians ?

The bottom line is, Canada _is_ an immigrant country: we will keep accepting immigrants and international students and refugees and asylum seekers in the years to come, that’s just what Canada is about, but I do believe the government needs to manage the flow in a _smarter_ way - policies and regulations that both fulfill Canada’s labor needs, but also obviously do NOT cause the rest of the population to struggle to literally just survive.
