No more jobs it's time to bring UBI into Canada at least we cover rent and food.

Im planning transferring to san jose state University in California. On average, most apartments are also $2500+. Just looking for a 2 bedroom apartment will run you $3000 just on rent.

Please how much is feasible to make monthly and how much is average rent for one bedroom. Thank you.

Every apartment rental price pre Nov 2018 was Rent controlled but after that date all Rents could be raised by landlords as much as they wanted. Prices in rentals doubled and even trippled.

No labour jobs in Canada pays you more than a $ 1000.00 a month. In that money you have to pay your rent, grocery and bills and in the end you're left with nothing forget savings I really don't know what these guys are talking about I'm here in Canada for 30 years and I have seen the life here.

I won't complain, it would be good for the renting market.

i live in the middle of the woods in a small town, the rent went from 300 for a one bedroom to 8 to 900 for a one bedroom appartment. I dont even know how people do it because the average income around here is 15$ an hour.. crazy !

Decriminaliztion of drugs didnt ruin the city. ITs the way they implemented it or in fact failed to implement it properly. You dont jsut decrimialize drugs and thats it. the people going in looking for drugs etc should be helped and supervised but they arent. So these areas are left for zombies walls are spray painted shit eveywhere. ITs a mess what they did. Diabled people only get $1308 maxium to survive per month... That includes rent. They give you $505 maximum for rent per month.... there are no places for that price. not even a room. The average 1 bedroom prives for toronto are $2100 per month.

I left Canada its was too expensive I couldn't afford anything was working 2 jobs and the rent took most of the money. I think Canada needs to tackle housing crisis.

I feel like moving as a lifelong Canadian. I love people and love culture. I don't like extremists. \n\nMy problem is simply I don't our government is ethical nor caring to it's citizens, and as far as immigrants go, I am absolutely all for it with a reasonable rate without displacement or a negative sum on people that have built families here already. She is wrong in regards to making over $100,000. I made $107,000 last year and my tax bill was $27,695, leaving me with $79,000. After you pay rent, bills etc you are left with nothing. Nothing but a struggle to survive in Canada

I completely agree w this man. Ive worked my ass off for 30 yrs already & even w my private health insurance thru my FT job Its still gonna cost me between 12& 15 grand to get my teeth fixed. Its life threatening & caused by a bone disease that I have no control over but the Gov't wont help pay a damn cent. This is very true. I am an Austrian citizen that tried to immigrate into Canada from 2021-2023, I worked my ass off, working 2 jobs for most of my stay and living as cheaply as possible. I still burned through all my savings and a significant amount of money my family sent me to help out. I had an accident and waited for hours for an ambulance to show up, they transported me to a different city because in this town none of the two hospitals had a fucking X-Ray machine. Then the next morning the hospital in the other city kicked me out again, with a fucked up back, because there were no beds available. Had to call my neighbours to come pick me up again (thank you Tracy, love you) because I couldn't get home anymore. Lost one of my jobs thanks to this and started a different one, couldn't afford live in BC anymore and moved to Winnipeg because I heard live there is cheaper. It is, but not significantly so, but you pay for this by living in terrible conditions. Rent was still high, salary was shit, the public transport system is.... Existent but not reliable and the city is so incredibly dirty. There's garbage everywhere. Between my apartment and the nearest dollar store was one garbage can and that was a 20-30 minute walk, here in Vienna there's garbage cans everywhere and thanks to them the city is cleaner. \n\nAnyways, I gave up on moving to Canada and came home. Still dealing with my fucked up back (though it's getting better thanks to Physio and a good doctor) and the debt I accrued in the last few years. But my apartment costs less than half for the same size, my job earns me significantly more money, my phone plan is better and costs less than half and the food is both much much cheaper and much much better. \n\nI am happy with life now. Thank you Canada for showing me how bad even other parts of the developed world are, I really learned to appreciate Austria while I was away.

People in my city (3.5/4 hours from Toronto) are now advertising 5/6 people per room, the picture is a bedroom filled with mattresses because of the other exchange students living like this. It is terribly hard to find affordable living, charging 600-900 for a mattress in a room. Most of the homes being rented are from Toronto people.

But I keep hearing 1000s of migrants leaving Canada regularly. is it not the war in Ukraine and the poor people getting over taxed rent prices gasoline prices cost of living ? Why not just vote NDP . Time for people to start investing ETF , Amazon might be the only way to survive other than that go live in cheaper countries. Europe is finished USA is finished. I still think Canada has a chance.

Okay so ever sonce the rent caps were REMOVED by the provincial government back in 2018, yhe amount of homelessness has gone through the roof, that and the fact that in Ontario the Provinical government has froze social assistance and disability service rates. It is a cop out to say its the refugees! You guys have it all wrong. But hey you could be here from the IDU to help bolster Pierre Polivier. Our fucking borders are NOT open. That is ridiculous. Even a high tech salary is just an half of average apartment rent in Toronto, it is insane, especially with this climate and overall distance to other parts of the planet.

It also makes it very difficult for canadians as well because the rent has tripled due to international students and canadians are left homeless. As sad as it is, it all needs to stop. My east indian friend was sending home 100 dollars every pay cheque to her family to pay for nephews education. 100 canadian dollars is approx 6,163.44 Indian Rupee. Quite the exchange.

No it’s not true there are plumbers and electricians to do that only thing you have to pay but as you were tenant so landlord will pay I am living in a rented apartment and everything is covered u don’t pay for anything if something goes wrong.

I was homeless. I stayed far in the bush. Then had a home for about 8 yrs then covid and evicted so they could triple the rent. Thankfully i had a suv. I parked at or near truck stops. Safer and access to showers. Ended up driving 500 miles away and starting a new life

Australia has the same problem. All the international schools near the city are full of asians whose parents have also bought them an apartment.Its a investment rort.The housing waiting list is 20 years! The politicians have let so many people in ,who are not refugees--they just want an easy scam. So theres no places to rent and the public transport is overwhelmed. Increasing demand and rising prices. Not long after, inflation caused mortgage rates especially to rise. Rent costs soared too. People interested in working in hospitals declined. Less doctors etc.. \n \nSimultaneously in Canada, the number of people coming by air, land and boat to claim asylum skyrocketed. For example, in 2023 alone, in just one region (Central Canada) around 400 people arrived per day (on average). Ditto for other populated provinces. Also the number of international students SKYROCKETED too. In 2023, averaging around 2,000 per day across Canada. Years 2021 and 2022 had high #s too. \n \nThe majority trying to migrate to Canada recently have been from South Asia. And it's become extremely obvious to Canadians. Even those that are very used to much diversity & many cultures. Plus neighborhoods now know that international students are using schooling as a 'back door' ticket to come to Canada for permanent residency. No one says it in public amongst strangers, but everyone knows because they've witnessed the extreme PR frenzy firsthand by now. To many Canadians it has felt like a tidal wave that has reached all cities and small towns, with a post secondary school. This extreme situation never existed prior to 4 years ago.\n \nHospitals have been hit with many wanting free healthcare. Less doctors/nurses etc., means greater waiting times. Plus a VERY SEVERE HOUSING CRISIS has occurred in many western countries including in Canada. In ways not seen in people's lifetimes. And if you do find a place to live its quite expensive. Including small basement rooms. \n \nNow westerners want the money greedy agents (pseudo smugglers) in other countries to stop marketing & LYING to their own people about access to PR or citizenship … or accommodation/jobs … being easy (to get). And for any greedy people living in western countries to be ashamed of themselves if they're hurting students. Anyone doing things to make $ off of people's PR desires. At best, there is a 25% chance of gaining PR (better odds if you are masters/medicine etc.). \n \nNot all players across the board have acted honestly over the years, i.e. contract marriages (IELTS spouse), anchor babies, fraud, false asylum claims. Canada has asked the India government to prevent “ghost consulting”. The new PRIVATE (non-public) colleges are being investigated (including looking for strong oversea ties). \n \nCanadians are meeting students who told Canada they have enough $, but it turns out they borrowed it (some borrowed it for the application process only). Canadian food banks and other CHARITY services have been recklessly advertised on YouTube (by India students in Indian language). Many transit services have launched stricter rules, i.e. lost monthly bus passes registered in your name are now never replaced (unlike before). \n \nThen this year throw in all the Palestinian vs Israeli angry protests happening regularly in cities. Plus the Sikh vs Hindu violence/extortion mostly happening in Ontario and British Columbia. Plus the Canadian government also recently launched investigations in regards to foreign interference in Canadian elections. All stemming from Asia continent. Hate crimes have gone from rare to occasional (primarily South Asians against South Asians). \n \nCanadians are so so so so so not used to all this. So many, who have embraced multi-culturalism and immigration for decades are now VERY worried and fearful (due to all of the above). And all are praying it doesn't turn into great anger (like in the USA). \n \nCanadians want multi-culturism to succeed … and for all people (including immigrants) to be okay. Everyone I know is VERY happy with Canada Immigration's recent changes (reductions & investigations). As someone from Toronto, mostly everything is true. So many homeless and drug addicts downtown. So many immigrants and people from other cultures it’s like they are taking over. Toronto is for sure going though some changes to say the least for sure. That’s before the very high rent that you can barely afford.

Dude, I am a student from another country. The government did not provide me home or money. I am working, I found a home myself, I pay rent myself, I am working and i pay tuition fee and I pay rent. You will not find any international student living on the streets because we are educated, not on drugs, hard working. We work, earn and make a living. I am a old white man born and raised in Canada...our youth born in Canada don't give a crap about us old folks...then these young men and women that come to Canada for a education and residence show up from India...and bang in an instant I am noticed...do you know why because these young adults were raised to respect their elders...they are hard workers (some holding down three part time jobs) they pau their rent...they are polite and smart...with all this said they are also humans who have a limit. If they stay in Canada and contribute to our society here or go back to their own country using what they learned here to better off their communities in India...it doesn't change a thing...because they are so mature and i am proud that they call me a stranger UNCLE and exchange greetings to me all the time. I might not remember how to say their names but i am good with faces and i return the gestures willingly. We have like $40,000 equity in our home. Before the interest rate went up, renting a house here cost over three times our mortgage payment.

Im seriously considering leaving Canada. I was born here, but its the not the same as it used to be. Rent and food prices have skyrocketed, theres massive drug abuse and homelessness issues, and the culture has changed completely. And if your on disability please people we get 556 from ODSP and there's a rent supplement, so I can go get a place for 900$ a month and disability and the rent supplement pays the rent. The government doesn't want people using the rental supplement

I just moved up north Ontario from Orangeville Ontario area and rent up here is cheap and I moved to a bush last year due to homelessness and now CMHA helped me get a place and in this small town I'm in that's falling apart, is now a meth city and it was a huge gold booming town. I got 6 meth dealers on my street lol when the snow leaves I'm back to my bush the CMHA (Canadian mental health association) bought me a 800$ generator and a 200$ rain barrel so I can go live in the trailer again so other homeless can get my apartment

we need to take into considerations, these opinions are from a few people... Immigration is just 1 factor that affects services and housing provided by the government. But in all reality a lot of this is more politics, business. If the government supplied affordable housing (apartments with 1000 units at affordable rates with a low/medium standard) and a person had the choice to rent from subsidized program or an investors condo (mid/high standard), than investors renting their units would have a base rental price to compete with, giving the government control (hopefully in the interest to the majority). IMO! immigration is very important to Canada and we are in trouble without it...

It's so bad Toronto has always been like this when I was 7 I rember being scared of the homeless in the subways but it's gotten so bad than they allowed immigrants now rent is over 1000 for a room. People have started to cry at my job begging for work it's insane.

Ive learned to embrace the massive immigration. Bought a rental property rented out the upstairs and downstairs. Had dozens of immigrants throwing there money at me trying to find a place to rent. ? Property is now cash flowing nicely.

Ppl loose their jobs and find they can’t afford to pay their rents and mortgages along with all the other bills if they can’t find another job right away. I remember many years ago I tried to get student assistance to take courses and I was rejected because I lived with a parent, the person on the other end of the phone told me strait out if I was a foreigner I’d of gotten the assistance, and this was way before Trudeau was in the picture!!!

Trudeau made this place look like the promise land for refugees and international students. Most of them cant afford rent now, and want to go back home. Homeless Canadians can't find enough shelters. Our tax dollars are going to useless foreign military and carbon tax instead of sheltering the homeless and supporting our vets. \nCanadian retirement is going up to for 75 years old now.

My wages have stayed the same for 15 years but rent has increased 50% since then.

Needed is a General Canadian Census of everybody, immigrants and homeless tent and vehicle dwellers so that a current population count is obtained. Next, build density apartments to house everybody, not luxury condos or apartments that are overpriced. Bring back the rent cap to Canada under control of the Federal Housing Minister.
