Ok....I've lived in Singapore for the last 33 years, graduated from the University of Alberta with an Electrical Engineering degree. Worked 1 year in the arctic in 1989 then was offered a job in Singapore in 1990 and never looked back. There are MASSIVE engineering opportunities in Asia, its nothing like Canada. \nIf you have to deal with the Canadian government from outside the country your quickly realize that Canada is run by....children. The high commission is a joke, the over seas PP stuff is a joke, its all a joke. They could just copy the legislation that Australia has but they don't, it a complete amateur joke.\nCrime in Singapore? There is almost zero. \nTaxes? Singapore taxes are 1/4 of that in Canada plus there are no capital gains tax in Singapore. One of the reasons I stayed here was that I wouldn't lose have my gains on my stock options. \nInflation is caused by government spending and Peter Pan(Justin Trudeau, the man child) spends-and-spends. He has no plan to balance the budget nor pay down what is already borrowed. This causes inflation.....and it will continue. Why? Because people voted for it.\nCanadians truly believe they can get something for nothing....they can't, but they continue to vote for politicians that peddle that lie.\nSo, Canada, enjoy the inflation....YOU VOTED FOR IT!.\nJim

The cost of living is affecting all OECD nations to various degree so I am interested to know where people are moving from Canada. So many of the things you mentioned are also true about my experiences in Australia as an immigrant except the weather ofcourse. Haha!

Maybe the level of immigration is unsustainable. Infrastructure, health services, housing just cant keep up. Ditto New Zealand plus more expensive and higher taxes. A lot of immigrants coming here use NZ as a stepping stone to Australia.

Australia is the twin sister of Canada and Sydney is the mirror image of Vancouver.

We do have a bunch of muslim communities in Australia (the one's I've seen are in Sydney region) and I have heard the call to prayer, but it isn't a widespread thing. We also have schools which have predominantly hijab-wearing students (I think it was a girl's school in Sydney). But racism is unfortunately something that is common here. I wish it wasn't, because everyone deserves the right to respect and living in peace, its the most basic human right. Also as someone who socialises a lot with the lgbt and drag community I so respect your right to parent your kids as you choose. I have things I would teach my kids, and so do you. Hoping you all find the most comfy and safe home in the future.

There is just such mobility in general : Europeans deciding whether to live in Canda,USA,Australia or Latin America:Cosat Rica,Argentina...;Canadians deciding to live in the USA,Australia,New Zealand or Latin America.

This is all driven by rampant immigration. Australia is experiencing the same thing, absolute joke.

A country which is very similar to Canada is Australia. I wonder if Australia has the same problems for immigrants and locals that Canada has. I have been to both countries and honestly find no real difference between both countries except for the fact Canadians have a differenct accent and play and follow different sports like Ice Hockey etc. and of course the climate but other than that I find both countries very similar. My question is do both countries have identical problems?

I agree 100% as an Australian your doing the right thing because even here I am seeing these things which are morally wrong and you cant speak out because your made as the bad person. So I hope you find your paradise on Earth that is what you want..My parents after second world war came to Australia now gone and I am old I wish I could leave here and go somewhere else but its safe where we are and in Tasmania so its cold we have a good state its small but very cold hehe so good luck..

You could apply this to Australia. The reason is the same. They are using high immigration to drive increased GDP, so property demand outstrips supply. Also governement services stay the same, therefore there is less per capita. You see this most if you need emergency healthcare. It's a bit like shrinkflation.

Dubai or Turkey i think the best. Im from Malaysia so i kinda bias in the sense that i always see something to complain about my own country..? i love Malaysia..im not moving anywhere but these 2 countries i will choose if i want to move..another one would be Brunei..cause it’s very peaceful, people are nice, culturally so close to Malaysia and their currency is higher than Malaysia. We live in Australia and we did similar move twenty years ago. We went to back home Jordan for similar reasons. We came back five years ago. The kids picked up Arabic Islam and kinship. To shorten our experience. My recommendation a country that has standards of living. Malaysia ,Turkey and Indonesia are examples. It’s crucial to have an excellent income. Otherwise you won’t last. I am Mauritian, and my experience in Australia is exactly the same. There are zero human relations. I am leaving too because my heart is empty all the time. And also the kids grow up very strange, they are weird hybrids with no culture, I cannot relate at all.

I used to work for CP Air in Sydney, Australia, in the 1970s and even as a white man I was subjected to raw, rampant racism from CP's Management class posted overseas from HQ in YVR. Promotions, and pay rises, were all granted to white Anglo-Saxons most of whom were grossly under-qualified. I went to YVR in the late 1990s, ironically to chair an IATA meeting of over 900 international attendees, and I fell to my knees in gratitude that I had not chosen to make my home in Canada. YVR was little better than a slum - albeit a VERY EXPENSIVE slum!!
