I've been living in Canada since 1985, a Canadian citizen and just recently been unemployed since mid January due to interest rates. Builders aren't in a hurry to build therefore the workforce in that industry slowed down significantly. And so I've been applying everywhere and with my experience since the age of 16, i still cant get people to hire me. I thought there's a labour shortage? Or is it because employers rather pay new migrants minimum wage than to pay me a Citizen of Canada more? Idk how any1, new migrants or not survive in this world off anything less than $20 an hr

I have hard about two interviews from Canada after applying for LMIA job and at the end they will tell me that they like my experience but they needed someone already in Canada and the last interview i hard last year was seriously asking me if i have already gotten my visa approval to come to Canada and i said no, which i ask them to accept me and give me any necessary documents that i can used to apply for my visa and they said no. I was told twice ( unofficially by employees) while applying for work that I should not put my hopes too high cause even tho I was qualified I was not part of a minority or had a disability ! It took me a long list of application and lots of time to finally get a minimum wage job !! It’s disheartening and discouraging and maddening !! P.S. I have a relative in Ontario Canada working at a Food Basics. He told me that so many Indians that are international students are applying there every single day. And he has seen large stacks of resumes that is two feet high in the main office where he works. These international students believe that they can make a living from low skilled jobs and make ends meet in Canada. Hardly any of these international students will actually graduate from their respective Universities or colleges because they would rather work and take work from Canadians who are actually willing to apply and work at these jobs.\nThe Food Basics that my relative works at has a bit over 40 employees. 30 of them are Indian and the rest are local Canadians. And just you know a lot of these Indian workers that work there are low skilled, can't speak English, can't communicate right with the customers and their fellow workers, and have a sense of entitlement.

These students were always supposed to come with enough money to survive. Years ago it was $10,000 & it needs to be increased to at least $20,000 or no entry! I am shocked to learn that people coming on Tourist visa (from developing countries) to Canada can apply for Job here and once hired can change visa status while in Canada. Canada is not diverse anymore. When you go to GTA you will only see Indians and Blacks more. Australia accepts immigrants which they need. Australia don't care even if you study in Australian university but if you are not in their required profession list then you won't get PR. But in Canada you just need university degree and you can apply for immigration and you will get. Thousands of people who were rejected in Australia ended in Canada. And now international students mostly Punjabis coming for rural areas and end up becoming truck driver. Trucking industry is so saturated because of Punjabis. We don't need labour class because we have people for that. What we need is skilled people and educated which is short here.

Update: Last week the Canadian government has cancelled the visa exemption to Mexicans who came in droves to Canada without a visa requirement but now must apply in Mexico.
