More or less the same trends can be seen in the US as well. I am a US Citizen and have lived here for 25+ years. The Federal Interest is on high here in order not to make immigrants afford housing. At the same time letting the people enter illegally over the border. Jobs are insecure and questionable for reduced hours etc., make it more complicated to move back to India. Kids born here will face the trauma of culture and other aspects of work and lifestyles. Moving west for better prospects of life is not the norm anymore.,

Partner was an assistant professor at UT, after five years we decided the city was completely unaffordable and we would never be able to afford to buy our own house, so we packed and left the country. Yikes, for a Montrealer, those apartment rents are mind-boggling. I'm in a spacious 5 1/2 (5 plus bathroom w/ tub) in the West of Montreal Island, an easy 40 minutes public transit to downtown, and (grandfathered for 2 decades) we're paying CAD$760 – in 2024!
