The racism against Germans that is so openly expressed in the comments here is unbearable. Yes, there are some bad people in Germany (basically in any country on this planet, unfortunately) who are themselves racist or discriminatory. But that is by no means the majority of Germans. I have lived here for decades and have met the most warm-hearted people. From the comments I rather gather that many who come to Germany simply extremely overestimate the demands they can (and may) make of Germany (or pretty much any other immigration-friendly country). If you come to Germany it is obvious that you have to learn German (or the local language). That is the case everywhere, including France, Italy and Korea - you name it. And if you can't do that straight away that's okay too, most Germans speak English and are very forgiving when it comes to language learners. Nobody shouts at you for not knowing German. Furthermore, Germans are very direct and don't care much about artificial and feigned friendliness. What you see is what you get. And I think that's honest and quite refreshing. \n\nThe thing is, YOU have to approach Germans and can't just expect them to roll out the red carpet for you just because you think they are in need of your workforce. The simple truth is: the standard of living in Germany is very high. The culture is diverse, and anyone who doesn't recognize this should broaden their horizons. Cities like Munich, Berlin, Stuttgart and Hamburg are beautiful, extremely multicultural and anyone who describes them as 'dull' will probably not feel at home in any city on this planet. The people are also nicer than many non-germans claim - that's obvious, because if that weren't the case, Germany wouldn't be the most popular country to immigrate within Europe amongst immigrants. Of course there are problems on the German side too. Bureaucracy, language barriers and discrimination. But they definitely don't deserve the unreasonable racism they face here in the comments. You can't criticize Germans for their alleged discriminatory behavior by unreasonably attacking and generalizing Germans themselves. Anyone who approaches Germans with prejudice and racism should not be surprised if they do not receive a friendly welcome there...

You want to know why here my details experience. \n\nAlthough the govt wants skilled people, the people don't. The society will simply won't accept you. People don't separate between those who leach off the system or those who contribute.\n\nExtremely high taxes compared to the befits. I myself pay more than 30% taxes and 100 different indirect taxes and what I get in return nothing. For example if I just want to go to a doctor appointment I have to wait 1 month. If I want to rent an apartment the moment people see my Indian background they just ghost me automatically even without having a single conversation or looking at the document. \n\nAdd language barrier and extreme paperwork load, the most skilled people are either leaving or planning to leave after 4-5 years. \n\nThe system needs to change and reward those who contribute to the society and not the illegal ones.

Terrible reporting. The claim that immigration is what's behind the rising cost of living, especially housing, is very much NOT an obvious fact such that you would need to consult economists to even get anywhere near an answer. Interviewing random people off the street might help with exposing potentially racist sentiment but it does little to shed light on the truth of the matter.

it's on the rise because the Liberals are importing entire cities of unknown, unvetted and unwarranted people from all over. Meanwhile, natural Canadians and Indigenous people cannot get what they need out of the government. What makes the government think they can offer everyone else in the world what they need before it's own citizens?

Germany can make new visa requirements etc it doesn’t matter because German people’s mindset needs to change , we can’t learn German the moment we land in the airport this is the expectation when we land in Germany, your visa procedures aren’t fast enough and friendly , people wait for more than 3 months for dependent visa and more, also the kind of stares we get while travelling to work or shopping and more , it just feels weird , Spain France and other southern European countries are much better to live and work.

Only Country in whole world where a foreigner lands and goes to Ausländeramt, guess what they speak with you in German and not to stop there, they can get super aggressive for you not speaking in German! \n\nThis is the situation in Ausländeramt which is supposed to help people to integrate when they land freshly in Germany ?\n\nPeople gets their heart broken in their first week and that’s the first impression they are giving to highly skilled people who want to enter and work in Germany! \n\nGermany bureaucracy is fully nuts! Im my experience as a German the “unskilled” foreigners usually learn German pretty fast while the “skilled” somehow expect that everything needs to be in English. I get that learning languages can be hard, I speak 3 and am currently learning Portuguese. But it’s just a necessity if you really want to live in a place for a longer time. I haven’t yet visited a country where once you leave the urban areas you get along well with English. I’m often shocked how little German a lot of people speak that have been working here for years. If I go to Brazil for example I don’t expect everything to be in English, I try to make use of my little Portuguese and am grateful for people that do speak english. I think a lot of the issues stem from comparing Germany to UK, US, Canada that are native English countries. Or small countries like the Netherlands that have to use English as a primary language in many businesses because there are just not enough dutch speakers.

Need to take unconventional method. Someone break in, change all the locks and have a new rental contract signed by owner. When cops come they can't do squat until they get a search warrant since whoever they find inside has a legal rental contract. It will takes months for the courts to figure out what to do about two illegal claims 1) break entry but has legal rental contract 2) person that can't prove they live there since they haven't paid rent.

I totally agree with you. We need to get this country back from this lunatics. It is worth it. Don't give up girl. You can do it after going through so much and collecting so much invaluable experience. Get in politics, in activism, in the great movement for change. You are well needed here. Believe me.

Okay so no 100 k wont' get you that life you dream of, you'll get by in BC, but you can't buy anything. You can rent, you need 200 k now in BC, Kelowna average house is 1.1 m, Vancouver 1 bedroom is 3000 +, nobody wants to live in a jail cell, but maybe some wierdo's do? I don't know. \n\nIf your working and making 100 k in Vancouver, your working likely many hours for that, meaning there is no pay off, no car, rent a small apartment, have little savings.\n\nNow here's the REAL catch. If you make what some think is rich in Canada say 300 k a year. That works out to 182,000 after taxes, pension etc. Now homes in Vancouver, well let's maybe look at small condo's, hmm lets say a 850 sq foot condo sets you back 900 k, monthly mortgage is 6000, that's 72,000 a year, insurance, no car okay can't afford it, maybe a small car, 1000 a month insurance, payments fuel etc, cable, internet phone, etc etc food, another 2000 for a family of 3, wife one child. Thats now 9000 a month, dental, eye glasses, clothes, sports, other, another 1000 a month, 10,000 a month = 120,000 a year to live in a small 2 bedroom condo in Vancouver. Oh and condo fees 500 per month, so 126,000 a year, no extras yet.\n\nmeaning if you make 300 k a year and lets add on JOB expense, usually with high income comes some expenses, lets call it 6000 a year, suits, whatever. Thats 132,000 minus the after tax income of 182 and your left with 50,000 per year for savings and xmas, travel etc.\n\nNow you make 300 k a year and you live in a small 2 bedroom apartment and maybe some day, 10 years down the road you can buy a home. \n\nAnd the max you can afford on 300 k a year is around 1 million after a 100 k deposit.\n\nNow if you make more than that, there is NO reason to live in Canada, in BC they take 48 % of my income and what do I get lol, zilch, bad health care haha fun,

Germany is just a huge factory owned by Germans that need workers to keep the factory running. Don’t expect to be accepted and you’ll be fine. But do well to save money and get out as quickly as possible

I am a third generation Canadian. I have seen the transition from my childhood to present in this country and trust me. This country is officially a shit hole. And yes, I will blame the government because they’re the reason why it has become a shit hole. I’m sure most of you have a brain can understand the reason why so I will not need to ramble on about the reason why this country has plummeted into the abyss and is only going to get worse. This country is officially a dictator ship run by a dictator. If I could leave, I would, and most likely I probably will in the future in the words of Metallica sad but true.

I am a Serbian and Canadian living in Canada for the last 24 years. I love \nthis country I respect this country but my God is so much different than it used to be or it is me. This summer I went with my kids and wife to 6 different countries in Europe Eastern Europe and Central and have seen 2 alcoholic then I come to Canada I see thousands of drug addicts on the street. everything is overpriced ppl do not enjoy in here. When I came in 2000 Serbian economy was low due to the war now it is better and Canadian economy is worse so the gap is very small. you need to make 6000$ to live just ok and I do live well but there is always but. I call it a pressure cooker, I wish all Canadian travel abroad a bit just to realize that they were lied too and that there's a lot of bs. I can give you an example: Condo in Belgrade same size property tax is 200$ per year condo in Qc Gatineau 2500$ plus condo fees 400$ per month basically 7000$ wasted for what? no dr wholes on the street broken system. It will be for sale. I agree paying taxes on my house where I live but for rental property when you deduct all the expenses you invested so much money without any profit. the one that works and the one that scams the system make the same amount of money and we live approx the same. something is wrong there. I will live for many years to come but definitely not spending my whole life here due to many circumstances and expenses. Family values are getting killed and I have issues with that. The more I was pushed to change the more I went to church and believed in old fashioned traditional values. As you said I will always be grateful for what I made but working hard for two jobs in the last 20 years I would make that somewhere else too. Canada has changed too much since I came that's for sure. What triggers me the most fake approach when ppl say I make 100k wow then you didn't get that, that is only on the pay stub. how much did you get 50k that is the real money then you need to add deductions house tax this tax, sewage, water it comes less and less and then you realize that in reality you make more but you spend so much more with less quality of life. who cares how much you make the question is how do you live with the amount that you make.?

Agree with the mass immigration has screwed things up...I am PR turned Canadian citizen now....the things are gone worse in last 2 years....I am not against immigration as I am PR immigrant too...certainly Canada needs skilled workers but the things getting worse by mass immigration masking skilled work immigration...Woking hard contributing to the society and country all it matters...but I can't see all my tax money going to refugees and asylums....this should stop.. immigration needs to be halted and country should go to repair mode else it would a let down for future generations and there is no stop for Canadians migrating to other countries for better life...india thought culture to the world...whats going wrong...respecting culture and people is what we indians are...

Sorry to say that but Indians are very corrupt, they are trying to cheat any system or any rule. They are the ones behind all kinds of illegal implementations on: Immigration(selling jobs which is illegal), banking system(forging income documents to get high Mortgages from banks), cheating on documents(like fake school letter of acceptances or fake banking statements) and exams(offering to enter exams on behalf of others with a charge). These are not general considerations, I personally am in the know of all these examples myself and I am hearing many others. \nAdditionally they are disrupting the labor market by lowering life standards. To be specific, there are many indians, living 10-20 people in the same home, lowering their life costs, then going to businesses offering for a much lower salaries, hourly wages since their living costs are considerably low. This is not a fair competition, you can not expect people to live in barracks, just to be able to compete. this is disrupting social life.\nThe pooping and these kinds of senitary examples are just the icing on the cake. \n\nFinally, the indian community are not trying to come in to Canada and be a part of the community and the system, instead they are trying to turn this country into India, which they are running from in the first place. \n\nCanadians are nice yes, but any sound person should react accordingly if their kindness is abused. \nOfficial are needed to take actions on this, since I don't expect the Indian comm unity to behave.

Landlord issue is far more than what is spoken.... they increase rent every year to incredible level.... the government speaks of affordable housing all the time, but nothing has been done so far.... the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer. Need to fix the system where everyone would live fairly.... ?

Canada is broken we the citizens should now be able to take matters like this into our own hands. What these tenants are doing is theft they are stealing and getting away with this. There needs to be a law that if you don't pay rent you must leave or suffer the consequences of jail time

Ease of life in Germany is less when compared to other EU countries. In terms of cost of living it is better than EU countries. So it’s a choice . Can’t expect good life. \n\nAlso, expecting foreigners to speak German is insane. Imagine you go to a doctor and he wants you to explain the illness in German and worst part is they know English but wouldn’t like to speak .\n\nWhen Germany say they have shortage of (x)k skilled immigrants, can they accomodate them ? Can they provide kita places for their children ? and other minimum facilities ?\n\nMy opinion, if we know German things can get easy but not all problems shall be solved. We just need to live with them .

These tenant types need us more than we need them, remember that. If you work and enjoy getting up everyday, then the people that don't, rely on you.

One year ago i moved to germany from Italy as a doctor and i already wanna leave. Because the taxes are very high half of my salary goes to the state and the service quality is relatively bad for everything i need an appointment and wait for weeks to get it done.more problematic is the discrimination. Even tho my qualifications are higher than an average german doctor i dont get treated equally i dont get what my colleges get. So overall its a disappointment for me and i m looking for my next country ?any suggestions?

None of this would be happening if Mike Harris hadn't dissolved the rent control board. With no governmental oversight it's become a landlords free-for-all allowing rent to be increased between tenancies by whatever percent the LL choses, utterly insane. And tenants need a place to live so they'll take on a place they can't afford to get a roof over their and then this happens! It's an extremely broken system.\n\nAnd the children of the dying Boomer and previous generations are inheriting these properties and want their 'share' or 'cut'. Their folks were doing fine renting out that 2 bedroom apartment for $1200 or that entire 3-bedroom house for $2000 plus utilities but those amounts of rent once divided between these Boomers two or three, or more, kids $2600-2800 for 2 bedroom apartment or $4000-5000 for an entire house splits up much nicer for the children... broken.

Unless they fix housing they will never get the labor they want. Who wants to pay 2k a month for a studio? Because in Berlin it's getting like that. They need to build a few million more apartments in the cities.

I did plenty of studies back in 2017 because I got a job offer in Canada. I paid the money to the immigration lawyer. As a qualified artisan, a qualified artisan with a red seal certificate which Canada introduced in my country, they told me that I need to pay and get my qualifications redone and tested again. That is where I stopped. This is a.money making scheme. Bullshit in red letters. I stopped the process and I am not sorry I did it. Today I am working in Saudi Arabia and it was the best move I could have done.

I lost close to 20K and couldn't do anything the tenant was evicted after almost a year without paying a dime. This was not even in Toronto but 4 hours away. They need to get rid of LTB or reform it to very least.

Canadian healthcare has lost the care. You can get excellent healthcare in foreign countries and not have wait times. The cost is lower too and you’re not paying Canadian taxes. Affiliated hospitals with US hospitals and American trained doctors. The world has better to offer, all you need to do is look

I'm a Canadian and I moved to Asia 20 years ago. My motivations for leaving were the endless winters, the absolute necessity of having a car and two sets of tires, crazy insurance prices, and getting taxed on everything without seeing benefits. Now when I visit I am shocked at the price of everything from food to gas to hotels. In addition, I hear that housing has gone through the roof. Many can't afford to buy and face bidding wars to rent a place. With oil, timber, minerals and more, Canada should not be in this position. The government(s) have really messed things up and need to start reversing these trends now.

US as a better place to go?have you tried to get a green card, checked the rents in cities Like San Francisco or NYC, their health care, non existing public transport, graduate debts at the end of uni, gun crime....??? Would you not expect to know English when you live there? Everyone needs to look at their own priorities.

Why should this country you're fleeing to take you in? Instead of fleeing Canada, why don't you fight for it? Did you vote for the Liberals that are screwing up Canada? Are you just going to do the same in your next host country? Have you ever looked in the mirror? Maybe you're the problem you're fleeing from. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. Welcome to the ex-pat club. I left Canada 14 years ago. Talking to people I still keep in touch with in Canada I realize just after Trudeau got in power that Canada has changed. I suggest if you plan on a move do your research on where you are thinking of moving to. Do not rely on a vacation as they are very different than actually living in a place. I speak from experience. Do I get homesick? Yes but right now I would not even think of moving back to Canada. I am very settled and happy living in the EU even with the problems here. Some things to check out are various cities or towns in various regions of a country, healthcare, schools if you have children, cost of running a car (petro, insurance, etc), price of food, utilities, etc. If your work papers or degrees are accepted, what visas you will need. Once you have made a decision, start learning the language. I could do it anyone can do it.

Folks I was born in the US and married a Canadian and I can tell you that if you're a whiny little complainer in Canada, THE #3 BEST COUNTRY TO LIVE IN IN THE WORLD according to US News and World Reports, then you need to GTFO of wonderful Canada and go get your ass whooped by anywhere else. Alina. Happiness is a state of mind, of perception, and of illusions. Likewise, sadness. At your age, having kids is getting remote due to ovaries. I advise you to think leaving Canada carefully as you are perfectly safe where you are now in central Canada. But you need money to live a good life. So your goal should be to get the qualifications for a good job, or good man to support you. As an old man in Arizona at age 76, I can clearly state the number of good women in your age bracket are rare too. Who needs any woman who is a meth addict, or someone with credit card balances, or an attitude? Not me, that is for sure. And the same for you if looking for a decent man as a sperm donor. No one needs an addict whether tobacco or booze, with bills, and an attitude. It is all about living a good life and teaching your kids the same.

Well, I am leaving, yes. Although I am very grateful with Germany, I work in IT, and I don't hold a diploma, but I have more than 20 years of experience in the field, I always been offered jobs beneath my experience, only because of a paper. I am Italian and was very enthusiastic when I arrive 4 years ago, but the way I was treated was mostly bad, that led me not wanting to study the language anymore, people were so agressive in the streets. When I needed the back of the justice, it was never on my favour, even when I was right, as I was hit in the street by a stranger who made my face bleed, police said that it was nothing and that it was the opposite, even when they had evidence. I was mistreated at a hospital in Schwabing, München and medical attention was refused, police didn't help and they requested my to litereally scream for help, and I did because I was bleeding on a place I didn't know, with -4 degrees, without any jacket. I even tried with the discrimination line, which doesn't work, and if you write them an Email, they will say they cannot help. I Will never understand that level of cruelty, not to mention 5000 Euros I had to pay for a ticket, because I suppousedly scratch the car of a person and because my Kaution was never returned, tried, but never got a lawyer, because you need to pay for the air you breathe in this country. ARD, what is that? You pay for the right of internet, and you pay internet as well, the desorganization with the states is massive, and often times, you will get a letter in your box post having to pay somehting else. My energy and money was completely drained. I just had it. Despite of everything, this country tought me great things, like discpline and hard work which I really appreciate and will take this knowledge...somewhere else. I also became better human being as a result of being exposed to all of the bad things. But I am isolated case, not everyone goes through these things, I did, and to me it was more than enough to wanting to Auf Wiedersehen. Unfortunaly Germany prefers to keep people who did not come to the country to add something, crazy as it seems, they would allow more people who rape, do not respect their culture and commit other crimes, instead of really welcoming people who came here to have a better life. Germany is currently too focused on other countries problems and failed on attending the needs of their citizens and the citizens who came to live here, including europeans, as myself. I truly believe that Germany is a beautiful country, München is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen, and has astonishing landscapes and vibrant nature. But...

For me a Québécois, we missed the boat in 1995. Too bad if you don’t like it but we got screwed by newly arrived immigrants back then and we are being drowned by immigrants now. The difference is that you too in the ROC are being drowned. I am a Quebec nationalist, it’s in my guts. My family has roots going back to New France. Canada has always been an imposition for us just as we to the First Nations I guess. That’s unfortunately neither here nor there at this point in history and I apologize for it. I could blame the Trudeau government but any government in Canada would do the same for neoliberal/conservative ideological reasons. We have a neoconservative government right now in Quebec. They have practically killed our nation from the inside in order to discredit the social democratic and socialist tendencies that did so much to develop this nation. These are the ones who would literally step on their grandmothers neck to attain higher status in life. Since for me this place is where I feel the most a part of and have understood long ago that the ROC had done everything to negate us as a people a nation and the dream of an independent country with close ties to the ROC is and probably never was in the cards, I have started hoping for some kind of political union with mother France since it has become painfully clear that Canada as a strong bicultural self respecting truly independent country is a bygone notion. Just look at our military, it’s a monumental farce. Look at the insane levels of immigration, we cannot support this!! PERIOD!!! Look at way we genuflect to the US’s economic visions without questioning anymore. The Quebec people are a nation, Canada unfortunately is only a notion. For me getting out of Canada is also a reality except since this place never was one of a cash cow there only to send funds to some family elsewhere I believe we Québécois and Québécoise, with the respect for the First Nations that we have always owed them, need to go our way. Student visa to Thailand, you can get it from Laos Thai embassy. I have done this once, you go to Thailand as tourist, register with a school, to study anything, thai language if you want, example 2 times a week 3 hours each time, super minimal study. The school will make a bus tour with the students to Laos embassy, 1 night there and you will have student visa.\nIf you want to tske it super easy, you can also study english language, just to make it easy, but of course learning thai would be helpful.\nIt wasn't a big school with lots of students, just a small offline building with 30-50 foreigner students,\nBest part is that you can go instantly, no need to wait in your home country for months to get a visa.\nI think you can stay 5 years with student visa if you continue your study, maybe you need a paper from the school once a year to proof you didn't drop out.
