writhe people want 35 dollars by h jobs, government want taxes to pay old populations on retirement, abusive landlords want 2600$ dollars monthly rent. i never hear an immigrant complaining. they all succeeded. Is very rare to se immigrants become drug addicts and homeless. That's reserved for the native and the white people. But they complain every day without looking to the mirrors 🪞. Immigrants keep Canada running. More you spend time complaining, more time you will be poor. immigrant succeed even with a 17 $ by h living in a 500$ room after 3 or 5 years they all have houses, nice cars, business and investment i the country. why local can not do it even whit a university degree? Because they are not strong to go work double shifts if need it. Why to buy a 1 million dollars house if you can not even eat correctly every day. The problem is that people live like king and they blame others like the new Inmigrants for their own choices. Have a humble life, respect everyone. And I promise you will succeed.

The people who elected the liberal fucked Canada. Way too late now. Got to live with it or move on. Canada is not what it used to be n can be. Now the city I live in has tons of tents n homelessness. Crime, expensive houses, rent n groceries. It makes the rich richer like the corporate companies that can employ cheap labour with little or no benefits. Don’t come to Canada unless you are highly skilled. For ordinary Joe, you have to work 2-3 jobs to afford living here.

The great tragedy is that small town Canadian students who wish to seek opportunities in large cities, will never be able to afford to rent let alone buy… They are doomed to live in their small towns and hold on to small dreams… Here in Vancouver, the new immigrants wish to stay in and invest in large urban areas. They have extended family support to buy the real estate. Small-town Canadians don’t have a chance in this competition.

Canada's immigration system has lowered the bar big time. What happened to their mandate after '67 that was supposed to be focused on permitting entry to only skilled immigrants? Now, they're letting any immigrant with a pulse come in. As a result, rents and housing prices have skyrocketed, and now the average Canadian can no longer afford to buy a home. Of course, it doesn't help that the government got out of the homebuilding business decades ago; big mistake. Our government has done this country a huge disservice.

So you can't afford rent and you can't find a job. ELBOWS UP DIPSHITS.

Yep we are screwed big time, here in Moncton New Brunswick we only used to have a small number of Immigrants usually a mix of francophone students and refugees properly vetted by immigration.
Jobs were available for everyone, a small example is the taxi cab drivers who were usually a mix of older semi retired Canadians, Sudanese and Syrian refugees who communicated well and tried to adapt to their new home, Canada.
COVID hit and we started seeing Punjabi’s coming in unprecedented numbers, they say as students, from Brampton Ontario?Overnight all Walmart, Taxi/Truck Driving jobs, Tim Hortons, McDonalds were Punjabi jobs who do we blame?
Rents are high, jobs once available are unavailable life has become hard where do we run same people voted again for the same government that has destroyed us 😢😢😢.

They destroyed the country. You cannot even afford to rent an apartment or even move around for a job.
If you leave Toronto for a contract job outside of the city and move somewhere else for a little while, you will be homeless when you come back.
To we are pretty much screwed in every moving around to try and gain experience to get ahead. And there are profession where you have to move outside of the GTA to get experience.
Canadian students can barely get a entry level job with a two year diploma, yet they allow International students to study things like a 2 year diploma in Business, which no one can ever get a job with, and on top of that, they told them they can apply to become permanent resident .
How does that even make any sense?
Does any politician in this country have two working brain cells?
I'm so sick of this country, I desperately want to leave ...I'm a immigrant and my parents came here in the glory days of the 70s, where people from other English speaking countries were given priority and were expected to fully integrate into Canadian society

🎉Absolutely only citizens living and working here should be entitled to this privilege of buying property or renting here. This will definitely easy the housing crisis.

Thank god. Rents are way to expensive, hospitals and clinics too crowded, buses and trains too full. Now start putting drugs out of the streets

We, the people, don't have free education, many students own loans from universities.\nWe can not buy houses, and no programs help us.\nWe (USA)have a lot of homeless, criminals, people with mental health, PEOPLE ADDICTIVE TO HEAVY DRUGS, plus the alcohol, weed, cigarettes, undecated young people, 30 percent only have a banchelors degree the 70 percent in the whole country don't have university education and not counting young people getting pregnant with toxic partners and their kids repeat the same poisonous life affecting their generations touching lives in a bad way.\nUSA has a lot of potholes in the roads, our foods have over 300 harmful chemicals to harm our health, the health system sucks, education is low teacher teach with youtube and are lazy to teach, educational system is super slow to process student classes or to advice them they make a mess in the documentation of the payments or financial aid, we have to baby sit the educational system to do their jobs and get things done, the food so expensive the egg, milk, vegetable, fruits, gas so expensive it never went down we still paying in LA 5 dollar per gallon to 6.50.\nUSA RENT are for the roofs some states do not even have rental control student loans kill people with HIGH INTEREST THEY GO AFTER YOUR HOME CAR TAXES .\nthe government is not to serve it wants the we the people serve the government.\ngovernment uses our taxes for their personal investment and we the people pay for it.\nThe USA government gives bread crumbs to its own citizens, what can other countries expect from it? The worst part is that most citizens are blind, and we need to wake up and make the government do its job instead of putting our tax money in their pockets.\ncountries need to look for their people but sadly the governments use their people very few are have justice and education.\nUSA say they help but they beat up the ones that are down and take advantages of countries that are in war USA exploit them is an investment not help USA always gets more of the double of what they help invest in countries like congo or eukrania USA want the minerals, land of eukrania and the diamond, land and resources of africa.

i know Trudeau gets a lot of crap from people, but my god this was a hell of a speech. same with Bernie Sanders' speech. i got goosebumps and also trying to fight back tears simultaneously. my ex wife is disabled receiving social security, medicare, and medicaid due to being in a wheelchair and requiring consistent medical care and attention. she receives, and is expected to survive on, $800 a month and $300 in foodstamps. she lives in campgrounds which is 90% cheaper than rent, and still has to budget, struggle and go without a lot to make life work all while being in tremendous pain and reliant on help from others. Trump, Elon, and all the other billionaires in charge are literally trying to make the ones suffering the most to suffer more while making them even richer. its absolutely disgusting how soulless these CEOs are. the world is ashamed of us and frankly if you are American and not ashamed and embarrassed by what these billionaires are doing with our relationship to not only our country but the entire world....then you arent a patriot, you are a cult follower, and you are part of the problem.

People complimenting this guy:\n\nCost of Living & Housing Crisis: Housing affordability has worsened, with home prices and rent skyrocketing.\nInflation & Debt: Canada's inflation rate has been a major issue, and national debt has significantly increased. \nHow much you say: \n\nHousing Affordability\n\nHome Prices: The average house price in Canada increased from approximately CAD 466,000 in 2015 to around CAD 723,600 in December 2024, marking a rise of about 55%. \n\nRent Prices: The rental price index rose from 100 in 2015 to 124.9 in Q4 2023, indicating a 24.9% increase over this period. ??? you people are idiots. He speaks so well ???

I get all the commentary lifting Trudeau up but when i heard that he is like on his last couple of days of his term i couldn't help but feel that noone so far anyways has come out and let lose with the hard hitting, proper Grammer and clean nice language be dammed, no not anyone to speak to this wannabe hard guy which this guy absolutely is not - trust me , and i get it he is 80 years old, but if you watch him in his 60s and 50's and going back to his youth he never could bust a grape; just all bluster , daddy's money, and when it came time to pay some rent .. he'd pay someone else to do it. A coward thru and thru.

Why is this dude still representing Canada? \n\nTwo months ago many of his key cabinets members resigned because Justin’s policies are destroying Canadians. Rightfully, he resigned. Dude needs to go away. Stop making Canada worse than what it has become under his horrendous leadership.\n\nThings happening:\n\nThe massive influx of foreigners, both legally and illegally into Canada.\n\nAffordable housing for native Canadians do not exist, people are leaving the country.\n\nHi mortgage payment or monthly rent are too high.\n\nFood prices are not coming down.\n\nSalaries are not keeping up with inflation.\n\nThe Canadian dollar keeps tanking.\n\nAs the leader of the country, he’s doing nothing to stop increasing violent crime.\n\nIncreasing amount of drugs in cities and suburbs.\n\nFinally, he’s pledging billions of dollars to Ukraine, when that money is needed at home.\n\nJustin is too emotional to deal with Trump.\n\nTrump complains about the trading balance between the two nations, $100 billion in favor of Canada.\n\nThe request is simple, import more American products, or export less products to America. But the imbalance has to stop.\n\nSame with Mexico, trading balance with Mexico is almost $200 billion in favor of Mexico. The imbalance has to stop. \n\nThe US economy is bleeding by trading with allies and partners, it’s fighting for its financial wellbeing. It is not some bs from the orange man, it is real.\n\nOf course Canada, Mexico, Europe and others want business as usual… and why wouldn’t they? ?

What about Canadian home builders who never built homes for customers who signed contracts that have been renting for years only to have the home builder request more money from them. Tell me how that makes sense? What about consumer protection agencies? Are home builders immune from the economy? How is the government allowing this because he had a hospital built putting his name on it that it is sustained by property taxes. Who the hell wants this? Who is going to fix the families ruined by this garbage home builder?

Quit calling it a war Trudeau, they just showed us that they are taking care of themselves...trump will provide americans with what they need... Pay heck is only a specific amount?...you soend more canadian tax payers money on a two week vacation that what two average canadian house holds make in a year...rent is outrageous, inflation has put people in the poor house, and in the very end your ego is trying to look good just so you can go off into the rest of your life in your own delusion...go away man. Why dont you support us canadians by accepting the new financial hike and get us on to making momey in different ways...quit complaining and quit trying to get us into a war...when someone puts crap on me, i dont let them own me any further, i just cut them off and get on to living by rolling up my sleeves and doing the work... Trudeau, your just a politician who failed us, quit using the priminister position to make thinhs worse for canada...youve proven that you really dont care about canada, and that you have gotten rich by pocketing taz payers money...go away man...canadians, do fall into the spin doctor media war creating wimpering crap..lets get the right person in seat, manufacture what we need to, rebuild the military that we use to have, and get rid of the liberal party...truedau has done worse to us than usa has...

Don’t forget that this prime minister is the actual reason why Canada is so dependent on US, he’s the reason why Canadian oil was sold to US on discount. The reason why most Canadians can’t afford groceries, why rent is unaffordable, so as real estate. He’s the reason why Canadians are underpaid, and why Canada is underdeveloped, compared to the US. He’s the reason why farmers go out of business because of his ridiculous taxes!

In a best case scenario, DJT will rescind the tariffs on Canadian goods. In the worst case, we get even poorer. If this happened after Trump became president the first time, the economy was strong from 4 years of Obama's presidency. Then COVID happened, and for alot of folks here, they haven't recovered financially. Savings and retirement plans are gone. Rent is higher, for many it takes over 50% of their income. So in this emergency time, there's nothing to fall back on. Oh and DOGE will cut SNAP benefits, I'm sure. That's food stamps, meant for the people struggling. It's becoming more and more of Americans. \nAm I depressed? No, I lived through Reagan's presidency. I'm cautious about life, my job, commuting to work, putting food on the table. I'm gonna try growing veggies. I already eat 75% of my meals at home or taken from home-cooked meals. I'm saving as best I can.

Someone has to stop this psychopath, the worst president in history. How can we afford food or rent at this point??? If he’s doing tariff then he should start paying Americans $3000 a month each family. What a psychopath!

Did you know that since the beginning of 2022, housing, healthcare, infrastructure, and affordability in Canada. \n\n$10 billion could have built 30,000+ affordable housing units, reducing homelessness and rent prices. $5 billion could have expanded healthcare, hiring doctors and nurses to cut wait times. $2 billion could have Canada has committed approximately $19.7 billion in multifaceted support to Ukraine. Let that sink in.... $19,700,000,000 ?\n\nThis comprehensive assistance includes over $12.4 billion in direct financial aid, the highest per capita contribution among G7 nations, and $4.5 billion in military assistance, intended to be delivered through 2029.\n\nAdditionally, Canada has pledged a $5 billion contribution, with $2.5 billion disbursed recently and the remaining sum to follow soon.\n\nIf Canada had spent the $19.7 billion on domestic issues, it could have significantly improved\nsupported veterans and provided clean water to Indigenous communities, while $3 billion could have upgraded roads and public transit. Another $2 billion could have funded food programs and tax relief to combat rising living costs.\n\nRedirecting this money could have directly improved the lives of millions of Canadians, addressing urgent national crises instead of foreign aid for a fake war that the Ukraine can never win...

Well trump just created a lot of new criminals. Because I'm gonna have to break bad just to feed my family. So if you got anything of value lock it up because my rent is coming due.

I do not understand caring about the dollar value of a home unless one is planning on selling. The only value of my home that I care about is that it provides me with a rent-free place to live that I own outright. To me, increasing the value of my home just increases my property tax without providing me with any greater benefits. \n\nDoes everyone in Canada plan on selling their homes?

From America, the world really acts like we owe them something.\n\nWe get called imperialists when we help, cowards and weaklings when we don’t, we get reprimanded and shit on about how we should get our nose out of everyone’s business. The rest of the world seems to have a hate boner for the US yet can’t even be bothered to figure out how to not start new world wars, can’t even be bothered to take in and handle their own refugees, can’t even be bothered to help your own people.\n\nWe The People are growing real tired of our treatment on the world stage. Furthermore, we have our own issues. We have to focus on our own country and people, because as it stands many of us are struggling to figure out how to pay rent without picking up 2nd jobs or side hussle’s. Please understand this, we voted for Donald Trump. Flaws and all. He didn’t cheat or steal his way in. He isn’t a threat to democracy, or the stability of Europe. He’s and American president for America and if any non Americans wanna take issue with that. Then come get your citizenship and vote for it, but until then, stop crying about what America is doing and focus on your own country. Who knows, if you do your own country might actually be notable enough for you to understand my frustrations :)

I’m in Seattle and have a vacation home in British Columbia so go there often while renting out other days to other people. Wonder how the tariffs gonna affect this. For example if certain things need to be remodeled in my pad over in BC I usually order from suppliers in USA near the border since I use them for my home in Seattle too. I’m guessing it might get taxed now. Not sure how it will play out. I do know that initially tariffs gonna effect lot of people but do believe in general it will get economy better. I recently saw that Mexico been adding tariffs for years for certain USA goods (for example appliances purchased in usa from Mexico will cost another 27% etc) and it’s time for USA do similar things. Just hoping my burrito cost doesn’t keep going up. Was around 8$ several years back and now it’s 14$ in Seattle ?

Trump and musk dont care because they dont feel the pain at the pump or grocery store. It hurts the people that live paycheck to paycheck that have mortgages and rent. So, trump and musk, who are billionairs, dont care

A very impressive leader, US can only dream about this kind of president. US elected an idiot into the WH who is kissing Putin's ass. Americans will regret this when they pay with food stamps for their groceries (if Elon does not take that away too) or stand in line in the soup kitchen and can not pay their mortgage or rent and move into their junk Winebego

Oh sanp, i forgot I walked into the woke media, guess what canada free trade this free trade that. But has the audacity to charge us a tariff but cry when it happens to you. Protection of your air space isn't free and offsetting your military while you sit back and do nothing is over. The rent is due, time to pay up.

You worry about America while we a home in Canada are suffering can’t afford rent can’t afford food we work like slave young folks cant even buy and own a home like they parents did

Don't get it, twisted, Trudeau. You've been screwing Canada over for 9 years, so why do you suddenly care now? You and Carney, and your gimp guilbeault with your carbon tax and doubling of rent and mortgages and groceries has been hurting Canadian families, but now Trump is doing this, and you're acting like a hero or are you just jealous because somebody else is beating on Canadians instead of just you, or is it because it's going to leave you with less of our tax dollars to launder?!
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
If only JT had cared about his people for the last several years you may not have ended up in this situation. He screwed up Canada and now everyone is applauding him? Canadians are not polite, they only pretend to be, and then viciously turn and attack. You're all acting like the 30 year old still living in his parents basement that has been asked to pay rent or move out.

Many americans would move to Canada but we can't even afford rent without 3 jobs. ?♀
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
You mention that Americans are 30% more expensive than Canadians but you dont mention that the US is far more unequal with a Gini coefficient of 0.41 vs 0.35 in Canada. Now there is also a known issue with using GDP data to calculate productivity and that is that in sme countries the labor of GDP is much lower than in others. You then end up with Irish productivity being the second highest in the world only because most large US corporations operating in the EU register there to pay lower taxes but most of that revenue is just on paper for Ireland. or with Guyana whose oil and mining revenue makes it productivity equal to that of the US. Maybe that is the case, but is it? and if so why is the average wage in Guyana so much lower? so choosing only one specific stat can make any point of view seem true. you have to look at the bigger picture.\nnow the issue is Canada has been getting more unequal but it is still much better than the US. so what it means is that the higher worker productivity in the US benefits corporations and billionaires far more than it benefits the average American. now if we compare cost of living say between NYC and Toronto:\nCost of Living in Toronto is 37.5% lower than in New York, NY (without rent)
\nCost of Living Including Rent in Toronto is 47.1% lower than in New York, NY
\nRent Prices in Toronto are 59.2% lower than in New York, NY
\nRestaurant Prices in Toronto are 34.5% lower than in New York, NY
\nGroceries Prices in Toronto are 33.0% lower than in New York, NY
\nLocal Purchasing Power in Toronto is 7.2% higher than in New York, NY \nand this is similar when comparing almost all large Canadian cities with a comparable US one. And whilst housing and NIMBYIsm is real issue you have very similar issues in the US which also has almost no mix zoning. But throw in safety nets and go ask Canadians if they want to change for the US system. I doubt most will. Sure some want things to change but some assuming everyone wants an ultra capitalistic society. most are ok with less growth ut better balanced growth (the exact opposite of the boom and bust US model)

In Japan buildings depreciate in value, like cars, so the house I built last year is worth less this year (and my taxes on it are less). When I first got here I thought it was a horrible system, but now I see what a powerful benefit it is. Housing is quite affordable and there are lots of mixed neighborhoods, like mine, with million-dollar homes, small multi-units, and fewer gated communities. We suffer from a blight of abandoned buildings because at a certain point it just doesn't make economic sense to fix up an old (often cheaply made) home. But because home ownership is a luxury, like a fancy car, not a necessary means to accrue wealth, mortgages and rents are low and there's cheap (and small, so very very small) housing everywhere.
|
| 2025-03-03 | 0 |
Housing price growth is good at the beginning, but after 10-20 years, it becomes a burden on the economy becuase of rent, as rent is included in everything u buy or do.\nEventually, it will crush, and so the economy. It will make the economy worse than it was before the policies of growth via immigration and house pricing.
|
| 2025-03-03 | 0 |
LOL I know more people renting than those that have a house…

FEEDBACK: I've operated various businesses in Canada and all I can say is, 'never again'. The BUREAUCRACY grows in strength every year, issuing more & more regulations, stifling everything. For every new rule a bureaucrat introduces, an old rule should be retired.\n\nHOUSING: It's the Liberal Government policy to pander to immigrant voters that has put us down the wrong path. I'm amazed that so few people in, say, Vancouver who complain about the astronomical cost of rent and mortgages realize that their problem is directly caused by our WEAK policy of permitting new immigrants to move to Vancouver & Toronto , instead of the 1,000 other towns where they're desperately needed. How stupid are we, to not even understand the policy issue? \n\nMeanwhile, I actually lost my apartment block in Winnipeg because the market value dropped below the mortgage balance and the bureaucracy was killing me with their conflicting rulings. So, why did my block drop in market value? Because people were leaving Winnipeg, and Manitoba. EVERYONE went to Vancouver or Toronto. Thanks for nothing, stupid politicians.. the opposition isn't doing their job when Canadians don't know anything about this.
