At least Canada has a leader with half a brain. USA can't say that.

This is what our President should like. Not like the orange clown we currently have. Voting in Trump will very bad for this country. I may immigrate to Canada. At least that country is lead by adults where lying is not the norm.

80% of potash is imported from Canada. Potassium it's necessary for plant growth and a major input for farmers. The Tariffs will increase the cost per ton by at least $100 per ton. Regardless if domestic mining increases it'll result in higher grocery prices.... Again. We need to impeach this administration. Slapping tariffs on Canada which we hardly have a trade deficit with is asinine. Nevermind all the tech and service exports we send up North which probably far out paces the imports.

I'm sorry, that's not anti-Americanism. Word choices matter, and this was intentional. Think what you will of Trudeau or Canada, the reason people are turning away from networks like CNN is at least in part because you continue to pay people who are incentivized to frame everything as pro-America or anti-America. Some better choices might have included: frustrated, honest, distressed, resolved. Nothing Trudeau said was in any way anti-American.

As a US citizen, I apologize on behalf of this corrupt administration. I certainly didn't vote for the ??, and I'm not sure how anyone could have... yet, here we are. Half of the US certainly deserves it, and I fully understand the need for extreme measures at this point. What he did to Zelenskyy and what he is doing to our allies...yall do what ya gotta do. Half of us are rooting for Canada, Ukraine, and our allies. Idk what's wrong with the other half, but its shameful to say the least. It was never about fentanyl. Trump doesn't give half of a fuck if people die from fentanyl or otherwise.

JIimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George Bush Sr, Bill Clinton, George Bush Jr, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, agree or disagree with them they never destroyed so much in their time in office. In My 50 years of life I have never seen such a diplomatic failure. Canada, UK, Australia and the Eu have been our closest allies since ww2 and Mr. Trump is his maga disciples are heading towards what the Soviet Union and the old Warsaw pact countries couldn't do in over 50 plus years. Canada Stand strong, France and the Eu Stand strong, UK and Australia nothing but love and respect from a disgusted American citizen. Hopefully democrats can flip the house or the senate in a couple years, or some republican senators will get some intestinal fortitude to at least stalemate the senate to turn the madman into an essential lame duck president. At the point no white house representation is better then what Trump has in store. President Zelesky all the respect in the world, you're what a leader should be, and hopefully your true world leader friends will stand for what's right. Love and respect and apologizes to Nato Eu Ukraine and Canada. A majority of Americans are absolutely disgusted by what this country has turned into.

Dude the president of the USA did more that you could ever do for your own country !! \nAt least this will bring back industries in Canada !!! \n\nAnd tarrif it's absolutely not inflation.... increasing prices, yes, but once !!!\n It's not like printing money out of nothing ???

At least Canada has a leader who cares about their people and most importantly, he is literate and not a convicted Felon looser!!!

Trump stopped targeting Russian hackers. The US ordered cyber command to longer monitor Russisn hackers or to go after them. \n\nTrump ends the consumer watching agency that protected the US citizens from fraud and cyber fraud and the watching general who was tasked to monitor fake money scams like some bit coins which many are dark web money payments from crooks and money laundering. I wonder who this move helped? All of the inspector generals who were looking ok not the scam artist and corporate welfare wuuen Elon Musk. \n\nI was just hearing that gas prices are going up a dollar at least tomorrow, so you had better go and fill up. it's about all any of us can do at this juncture, is my guess. The tariffs are a tax on all of us, plus the oil we used to get from Canada is now going to China or Europe. I'd tend to say you all should be thanking a Republican. Prices up in groceries? thank a Republican. Inflation going up? thank a Republican. thousands of jobs lost. Thank a republican. higher gas prices? Thank a Republican. Don’t forget, thank a Republican, the switchboard number to the House of Representatives is 202-224-3121 be sure and call and let them know what you think. thank your representatives. Firing Veterans thank a Republican. Firing the people who care for the Veterans, thank Republicans. The cascading job losses can be attributed to Trump and his tariffs and the tariff wars. Maybe it will be a depression he will cause worldwide? Thank a republican.\nRuined our government and ruined our status in the world. Thank a Republican.

Ah yes Canada whose Parliament, headed by this beta male #1 Trudeau, gave a randon man a standing ovation for his great work fighting Russins in Ukraine diring WW2..... without triggering any of the attending Dummies to wonder who could he be. Well he was Waffen SS, wtf else? This was a display of collective stupidity so bad that no thinking person should take any Canadian politician seriously for at least a decade.

Congress and Biden approved grants of 350 millions at least x2 while Hawaiians lost their homes and got 300dol from the government for assistance, North Carolina Republicans were ignored if they had any political signs and many left homeless, California also many left lost their lives and left homeless. The previous government didnt care about its Citizens. Trump is looking out for Americans and Americans tax payer money. Canada and mexico did have open borders for illegal immigration and drugs to come in. Zelensky thinks that Americans work for him and that he can come whenever he wants and demand not just money weapons but troop involvement.

As a Dutch European who was going on holiday to the States which i cancelled and re-booked to Canada ( and so did my travel companions ) i do stand with Canada and would rather spend my money there now ( the least i can do for what they did for us, no matter how little, every little bit helps ) Sorry to the good Americans, but i will not spend one cent in America or on\n American goods for as long as that Dictator is in power. I'm pretty sure Europe welcomes you with open arms! ❤️??????

This is just another step in the current Administration's push to totally isolate the USA on the World stage. Canada, Mexico, Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Europe should wake up and form their own Global Trading and Defensive Block (including a Nuclear Umbrella) because the USA can no longer be counted on for at least the next four years.
2025-03-04 0
Courageous Canadians, courageous Canadian parliament compare that with the fully cowardly congress..on both sides. If the US congress has at least one testicle of courage Trump would be in jail by now. Canada is now the land of the free and the brave. America, show me that you are not the cowards your congress and courts are!

I hope Canada And Mexico doesn't back down. Fucking hate Trump. Lies after Lies and guess what people defend him. Not My president people say. You voted for a dictator that lies through his fucking teeth, hes not going to change. Yall really thought him getting shot was the wake up call? That was his call for him being able to do no wrong, then they say oh you'd rather have Kamala? yes..... Yes I would..... look at our country idiots.... Not saying she would've been much better, but her team at least had common sense, trumps is a bunch of Rich sore losers who cant do nothing wrong.

You are pathetic Trudeau, your adminstration of Canada have brought havoc to the economy of your country. Instead of running to Europe to give you support to a corrupted unelected leader, a liar and a thief you forsake your responsibility to your own country. You have at least the honor to step down and it couldn't be much quicker. You aligned yourself to the 3 war mongers, Macron, Starmer and Rutte to continue the war in Ukraine. Zelensky is a comedian and managed to conned many in his scheme and you fell for it.
2025-03-04 0
Nobody is going to want to come to our Olympics in 2028. Everybody will be mad at us and they'll boycott it. Why don't you just give the Olympics to either Canada or Mexico? At least people will come.
2025-03-04 0
I support Trump and much of what he is doing, but I do agree Canada has done well enough to the point these tariffs should not have gone through. I was fully expecting this not to go through or at the very least be much smaller.

As an American that lives in Canada, this is strongest Trudeau has looked in years, but don't fooled. There's lot of garbage and corruption that follows him in the years he's been in office. But at least he's showing strength on his way out.

A thought experiment:\nImagine that the Canadian government was given a magic technology that could build five million new homes overnight and assign them by lottery to people who didn't currently own a home.\nWould the government push the button to build the homes and give them to people who needed a home?\nNope. It would not.\nWhy?\nBecause the price of existing houses and apartments in Canada would drop by at least 50% overnight. And in our new, insane, everything-is-financialized, asset-prices-are-the-most-important-thing world, that would be deemed unacceptable.\nJust chew on that for a moment: we have a society, an economy, a governing and property owning class, that would prefer to forego the incredible quality of life increases for the population of magicking 5 million homes into existence, than to lose the valuations of a resource that is so scarce that demand grossly outstrips supply.\nWe live in a world of utter madness.

Born and Raised in Canada and there is another sort of comparison I'm starting to see more and more: We have the Stagnation of Japan and the the Personality of Britain. \n\nWhat I mean by that, the people in Canada, least the older ones (Boomers), got very conservative and never wanted to rock the boat and do new things. They had in their eyes a good thing. They had work and owned their home. None of them wanted to risk that so they kept things the same for the past 3 decades or so. Well a lot has changed around the world, and were pretty much the same old. Literally. In retirement. Whats the last interesting thing Canada has done since the Canadarm? \n\nI can think of a number of achievements the rest of the world has done, including many 3rd world countries. But Canada is the same old. This has become our Culture. We don't talk about new ideas. We witness them online, but we're not Creators. We are Consumers. And that is what I think happened to Britain after they got resettled after WWII. Britain is pretty dry. And so is Canada. Hence our forest fires!

As a Canadian who has lived my whole life here, in my opinion there were two major factors that need to be highlighted that started this mess: fiscal policy and focus on fringe politics. First, Canada came out of the 2008 meltdown relatively unscathed due to following a markedly different strategic path than other major countries, namely tight banking regulations as well as 15 years of paying down the national debt. However, several years after 2008, sentiment shifted to adopting the same MMT-led fiscal policies as other nations: lower interest rates and deficit spending. Secondly, at least 10 years ago, there was a major political shift to start emphasizing fringe social issues (climate, race-based, gender, etc.) instead of standard issues such as the economy or military to name two, and it was strongly evident in academia and in the media. The result was little governmental, public or media attention being paid to core economic concerns such as the massive growing government and consumer debt levels, highly inflationary housing market, or decreasing productivity. When COVID hit, the government further doubled the existing federal debt and when they found that unsustainable, opened the doors to massive immigration levels to bring the Debt-per-Capita ratio down which while helping in that one metric, has further inflated the housing market all while forcing wages down. We now have unsustainable public debt levels, unaffordable housing, decreasing wages, decreasing productivity, and a troubling reactionary political swing towards extremist right-wing ideologies. Top that off with the US administration seeing Canada is on an economic precipice and threatening to take the country over, there couldn't be a more perfect storm.

At least Canada has a functioning democracy with sane and reasonable leaders. From where I’m sitting, they are in better shape than the US.

CANADA MUST develop those more REMOTE areas of the nation. Its population is essentially present in an area that resembles the shape of Chile, leaving the majority of the nation extremely underdeveloped. These infrastructure issues are the kinds of things you hear about when discussing the DRC etc. Whatever one may say about the huge problems with Russia's infrastructure, AT LEAST they have developed those more remote areas and have settled population centers in some of the most difficult climatic environments on Earth

Canada has many problems and disadvantages which will need to be determinedly addressed in the coming years. However, we have one key advantage over our friends to the south, and one I hope that over time this will increasingly bear fruit: we are not governed by a fascist-adjacent government. Our only political party with policies resembling the American Republicans is polling in the low single digits.\n\nSetting aside the question of whether American Republicans are 'fascist-adjacent', the truth is that much of the world perceives it as such. Our economy is so tied to the US that I would not wish them ill, or at least not very much. However, I think in the competition for talent American politics will be like a 'mark of Cane' on that country for a generation. My guess is that our - in comparison - boring politics will be a key advantage in the years to come.

Why spend all that tax money on northern boarder enforcement - how about Canada - reform your immigration policy and stop em at the airport. Cost a lot less to stop them at the airports if they don't have a good reason then tracking em down with Blackhawks and depleting our resources. Hope you get a better leader soon! Trudeau just talks out both sides of a#%, but unlike sleepy Joe, at least he can talk??

COMPLETE BULLSHIT. Trump is sending busloads of illegal immigrants from NYC and dropping them off at the Canadian border because that's cheaper than legally deporting them. This clown has them going the wrong way. They are counting the illegal immigrants Canada caught and is sending back to NYC by bus. MAGA idiots trying to make Trump the Frump look good.\nWhat these American geniuses should be looking at is:\nD. J. Trump has been a valuable asset to the Russian services for 40 years?\n\nAccording to former Soviet agent Yuri Shewrew, who moved to the U.S. in 1993 and obtained U.S. citizenship, Donald Trump was classified by the KGB as valuable services for forty years. Szłowie, former KGB Major, is currently one of the most important sources in Craig Unger’s book. “The American Comsar.” In addition to this thread, the book examines the president’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, a U.S. financier, who died in 2019.\n\nUnger claims that Trump first interested the Russians in 1977 when he married his first wife, Ivana Zelnickova, a Czech model. At that time, he became the target of a spy operation supervised by Czechoslovak intelligence in cooperation with the KGB. Three years later, when Trump opened his first major Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York City, he bought 200 TVs from Siemon Kislin, a Soviet immigrant who co-owner of the electronic company Joy-People at Fifth Avenue. According to Szedema, Joy-People was controlled by the KGB, and Kislin worked as her agent and selected Trump, a young, growing businessman, as a potentially valuable intelligence.\n\nWhen in 1987. Trump and his wife visited Moscow and Leningrad for the first time, the future president held many business meetings, including KGB officers. According to the Sędzim, Russian officials who perfectly identified the narcissism of the interlocutor and his psychological and intellectual weaknesses led a real “offensive of charm”, flattered him and emphasized that his personality made a huge impression on them. They suggested that such a man should deal with politics, that only people like him can change the world. According to Szbla and Unger, Trump was the perfect target for recruitment in many ways, especially because of vanity and narcissism.\n\nTrump almost immediately “entered” a new role, i.e. “joyfully parroted anti-Western propaganda.” Shortly after his return to the United States, he began his efforts among the Republicans to nominate for his candidacy for president, and even organized an election rally in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. On September 1, 1987, he published a full-page ad-icing in the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the Boston Globe, in which, among other things, he accused the Alliance of the U.S. and expressing his skeleticism to the U. According to Trump, America should stop paying to defend countries that can defend themselves. Such actions caused real euphoria in the USSR. Trump has already made the same the same theses as president.\n\nTrump's victory in the 2016 election. The Russians accepted with satisfaction. Special investigator Robert Mueller did not detect a conspiracy between members of the Trump staff and the Russians, but revealed at least 272 contacts and 38 meetings with people linked to Russia. The storm told The Guardian that he was disappointed with the investigation because there were no counterintelligence aspects of Trump’s relations with Moscow. According to Unger, Trump was definitely an asset to the Russian services, and his book “will start where Mueller ended.”\n\nSource: The Guardian of 29.01.2021.\n\nMelanija Knavs [now Melania Trump] was born in Novo Mesto, Yugoslavia, now part of present-day Slovenia, on April 26, 1970. Her father Viktor Knavs first worked as a chauffeur, and he eventually sold car parts for a state-owned vehicle manufacturer as he made connections with the League of Communists of Yugoslavia, the national communist party.\n\nWhy do you think Trump is so anti-Ukraine? Putin also has sex tapes showing Trump with adolescent girls in Russia, and Trump also owes Putin billions of dollars.

The people leaving Canada are older, and they have money. The ones coming are poor and compete with other poor immigrants that can't afford to leave. When I came to Canada with my parents they had to be skilled and bring with them the minimum of $10.000.00. Today the door is open everyone comes to visit finds a job that hire illegal migrants, and never leave. The company saves and no one pays taxes. The government is corrupt. Immigration, Unions even most police officers are corrupt to the core with DEI hiring Canada is in a crisis to say the least.

When the US stops sending illegal guns to Canada, the cause of all LEGAL gun owners to have our guns banned, we'll stop sending drugs back to the US (cuz the US is sending drugs here too) and allowing terrorists from other countries to cross the border over to the US. At least you can pull out your handguns to fight the terrorists and immigrants off. We have nothing to fight the criminals carrying illegal guns that the US gave them to use here in Canada. The only ppl who could even suggest Canada is the problem without admitting their own failure to protect are ignorant ppl woth their heads up their own a**. That's your president for you. Good job to all who voted for that clown!

Don't know why they would leave Canada ??, they would get Free Hotel , food , spending money, and medical for at least 4 years while waiting there case to be heard , after arriving, current there is about 280,000, persons waiting to have thier case Heard ,, this just one part of immigration, the number is closer to a million , its unbelievable,

At least Canada is trying harder than normal
2025-02-23 0
Idiot Trudeau started all this in 2015 with his Canada welcomes you no matter what speech, then Biden followed suit 4 yrs later. Those 2 should be in jail along w all liberal politicians ruining our countries, at least Trump did something, we don't even have a government the last 2 months since Trudeau shut it down and lying saying he would resign.
2025-02-23 0
..... are they being deported back to Canada???? We are not hearing any of this in Canada thanks to our censored Liberal gov't funded mainstream media that covers for the government. Since Trudeau became our PM nine years ago, this has been going on unchecked on this side of the border providing free taxpayer funded benefits for illegals while legal citizens suffer under this gov't. Thankyou to President Trump who has at least exposed the situation.

Well, as you might known, those people are from countries that have visa to Canada, like most of middle East Muslim population even so call Palestinians, few latin American countries because Canada doesn't allow them, they love Muslim, so as you can imagine many terrorism, so that's an loophole there, because at the south no more illegals at least 95% down illegal immigration against 60% or so, so it's clear now.
2025-02-16 0
I like Firstpost because she usually says it like it is. But this time she’s way too biased and went straight to play victim. Doesn’t she know how in places like Australia and Canada thousands of Indian people on temporary visas have taken to the streets to protest that these countries want to “deport” them when their visas are expired and they decided to overstay their welcome? Also, Indians used to be pretty quiet and kept to themselves… At least where I live! But lately they’re more and more unruly, and act like they own the place. A good dose of self-awareness wouldn’t hurt her.

You could offer we Canadians all the money in the world, we would still be living in Canada, your gun toting citizens, your police forces that for at least 40 years have been stopping Canadians on your highways and taking money for trumped up charges, your new president and his cronies and your wonderful health care. So thanks but no thanks, we will remain here in the Best Country in the World and yes we are the best. So when you get fed up with all the bad stuff in your country, you are more than welcome to join us over here

I left Canada last month, sold everything, Vancouver/North Vancouver...lived here for 20 years. Back to Germany where family is and moving to Portugal next within the few months. BC is just not affordable anymore, specially if you have kids. I love Canada, financially not doable tho, at least not for a single mom...tuition is a thing too... don't want to rent forever either...
2025-02-06 0
You need to make at least 62,000 dollars a year to be able to live decently in Canada as a single person. You definitely don't need a car. This comes with added cost like fuel, maintenance and insurance.
2025-02-05 0
You’re wrong. We’re not talking in “too many immigrants” 90% for 9 years are migrants from India ??. India India India ?? that’s who all us other Canadians are forced to live with. At least 3 million of the 7 million Indians are frauds and scammers. This is what RUINED Canada. Millions of Indians, uneducated, unskilled, dirty backwards people. Now we have 3 Indian festivals in Toronto, 2 Hindu parades on Yonge street, Diwali etc. This isn’t Canada this is Hindu Sikh India ??
2025-02-03 0
I know this is insensitive, but at least there in Canada you don't have to fear for your life, you don't have to worry about possible sex slavery, servitude slavery or people coming after you just for you existing like me in America. I'm willing to live in Canada and live in the same economic state as in America if it means I dont have to worry for my rights and freedom.
2025-02-02 0
I’ve read many comments urging Canada to reduce its exposure to the us. It’s reasonable but that doesn’t happen overnight. Refineries, for example, are custom built - they can’t process all crudes. They’d cost several billion to build and at least 3-5 years; plus, you need railways and port infrastructure to ship out oil or its byproducts. This should have been started in 2017 (trump’s 1st term). In the short term, free trade zones within Canada and Mexico may alleviate some of the tariffs.

When I've gone into Emergency here in Canada, you first check in and then wait for about 10 minutes to go through triage. They ask you why you've come and go over your symptoms. Then you go back and wait again. I've gone in for pneumonia at least twice. Both times I was sent for a quick check of my heart (because one of my symptoms was chest pain). When that came out fine, I was sent back to wait more. After about 20-30- minutes I was called to come into a more interior waiting area. There I just sat and dozed for several hours. Once I was in and out in 3 hours, which was really fast! Generally I count on a minimum of 5-6 hours from entry to exit. But I haven't gone in with life threatening problems. One was an injured knee. I just know that if I have to wait a long time, then I'm probably ok! If I got in too quickly, I'd worry! But there was no charge except to rent crutches one time and for the antibiotics I needed to go and get at the pharmacy. \nMy brother's first child was born a bit early but was very tiny. He had to stay in the hospital for about a month. He was also born by emergency C-section. At the end of all this, my brother said that the biggest expense was their parking bill for visiting so often. That would probably have been about $15 per day.

As an American I feel bad for Canada and Mexico... Prices will increase in the US, but people dont realize the US is the least dependent on trade of any country in the world. Trade makes up 17% of American GDP.
2025-02-01 0
This will hurt both sides, but at least Canada has options to mitigate the pain, like joining forces with the rest of the world that America is alienating. Remember, Canadians are nice except in hockey and (trade) wars. FAFO

Don't worry Canada more tariffs to come! At least Canada is getting off light because in Mexico's case there will be military intervention.

Need no migranta anymore? Start making more children than 1.32 per family. give birth to at least 2.2 children, spend billions to child care, schools, more doctors, universities. \nGo ahead. \nBut no, Canada takes already trained people from outside. Why should it bother about such minor things like raising own children?
