Send all the illegal immigrants back where they came from. Those that want to stay need to apply for legal immigration, must be properly vetted, pledge allegiance to Canada, become Canadian, leaving hatred from their previous country behind, and cannot stay here while they wait. A moratorium on all new applications for at least 10 years. This way the back log of legal immigrants can be dealt with. Stop all new international students, put a moratorium on it for at least 10 years, stop all temporary and permanent workers. All loopholes used to illegally get into the county must be stopped. This will reduce the cost of illegal immigration and solve a large portion of the lack of housing. No more government subsidies to pay for foreign workers. This will open up entry level jobs for young Canadians. No more government subsidies for anything for immigrants. If they need government support then no, you are then disqualified from coming. No more abuse of our Canadian social programs.

Gaining PR seemed more difficult over 10 years ago, when Harper was PM. I brought and sponsored my now wife from Hong Kong. Being formerly under British rule, we thought the process from landed to permanent was more streamlined. It was anything but, nor was it cheap. We had to hire an immigration lawyer to navigate the process and to help obtain government documents we didn't know were needed. I had to earn a minimum of $45k annually and provide a place of residence where she'd have to live in for at least 3 years.\n\nThis doesn't seem to be the requirement anymore. And I know for my grandparents back in the 50s-60s, it was just as difficult if not more so then. We need to reintroduce this measure.

I don't know.... I live in Montreal and I don't see recent newcomers as poor victims (I'm talking about most immigrants applying for refugee status) . \nWhy? \n1. In order to reach North America , one has to either cross the Atlantic or Pacific Ocean or cross huge chunks of land from Central or South America .... and that's really expensive. In Europe, since the coast of Africa is very close to Europe's , boats full of destitute and desperate people might be the norm. Not in North America. \n2. most of those guys arrive in North America looking for work \n3. most newcomers do possess smart phones and they know how to use them. They have their own network of friends and they're always on the lookout for good opportunities. \n4. most newcomers are very, very mobile. If they're having trouble finding work in Montreal and they need truck drivers somewhere else.... they'll go there . A new hospital needs aid personnel? They'll be there ready for hard work. \nThe positives ? They're probably working , making money and paying taxes. \nThe negative side? They're for the most part economic immigrants. As a Canadian citizen, I see that there are 3 major issues at play in this problem - \n\n1) Canadian colleges are starved off funds and do not have a sufficient, stable source of revenue. Hence they seek to attract international students who pay (at least) 4X the fee a Canadian citizen would pay. According to mainstream media such as The Globe and Mail, National Post and others, International students contribute some where between $15 to $18 billion per year in revenue to Canada. This is huge!\n\nSince this is a lucrative revenue stream for them, they have gone overboard and are providing strong financial incentives to education / immigration consultants to bring more international students here. Consequently, many existing as well as new colleges are encashing on this trend and diploma mills have mushroomed in Canada lately. This is ABSOLUTELY Canada’s fault and the accountability of fixing this lies with Canada alone.\n\n2. International students who come here often end up taking humongous debt or selling off their homes/ancestral property to be able to afford their education and hence they feel cheated when the dream they were sold doesn’t match the reality. \n\nHaving said that, International students do need to understand that they are here or a temporary visa and DO NOT get to dictate terms to Canada. It is Canada’s sole prerogative to extend their work visa or not, depending upon Canadians requirements.\n\n3. The Trudeau Liberal government benefits by giving these students extended work permits and a pathway to citizenship as it translates into votes for them. However this is an atrocious approach to winning elections and puts unnecessary pressure on the system. \n\nCanada needs to streamline this whole student visa process and take stringent action against these fake diploma mills, education and immigration consultants luring foreign students. It damages Canada’s reputation.\n\nLastly, extend the work permits of only those students that meet Canada’s labour standards and requirements and send everyone else back home.

I am an international student as well and i can totally understand the situation of my community student and it is not just for Indians but for other international students from some other countries are also suffering because of unfair PNP draws. The thing is that only Indian came in-front to raise their voice and media is targeting Indians to leave. This is not fair at all. At least government should provide justice to them, as every international student on work permit are doing hard work to serve the community. Where were you so called Canadians when covid 19 hit. Oh! I remember you guys were chilling out on government benefits. \n\nInternational students and workers were the ones who kicked the ass off at sales and service sectors. Without worrying about covid they worked at every job. The jobs where Canadian resigned. First of all this is wrong and misleading, i respect and like this country as any other Canadian. Second this is country of immigrants ,if there were no immigrants you would only see the local Aboriginal Peoples. At least these students are better than refugees. Refugees, on the other hand, drain our wealth, get free bees from the government, and it's out taxpayers' money that is paying for all that. On the other hand, students pay more college fees than people for have PR status or citizens. Obviously, these students have a skill set, but because of Canada's faulty skill assessments, they do not land up with jobs in their own fields.

That’s why the whole government system has to be abolished because they are all the same and don’t care about Canadians. Government has too much power and are being paid way to high wages and not a four year for pensions. Should be at least 10 years. There is quite literally a housing crisis across almost the entire developed world, save for Japan or countries that are seeing a net population decrease. \n\nHousing is a provincial and municipal responsibility and short of a massive expansion of the state to build housing, there is very little the federal government can do to fix it. However, what the Federal government has done is allow people to borrow more and change mortgage amortization rates which is arguably a terrible idea. This also ignores that most Millenials and Gen Z believed they were going to see the same type of quality of life as Boomers and Gen X whose quality of life was (at least partially) predicated on unprecedented levels of economic growth that have not existed in a generation.

Just look at exchange rates between Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Aussie is soring against the latter two which have been destroyed under successive socialist governments resulting in net emigration away from them. Australia, with its centre left, is doing slightly better, at least people are still coming here, but the telltale signs are there as people are fleeing overpriced Sydney which is the immigration hotspot here.

I’ve been in Canada for over 24 years and I have never seen it like this in my life!\nThe main cause of the majority of issues is the housing crisis.\n\nWhat a lot of you might not be aware of is that we have not been building homes to keep up with the demand for over two decades. That’s why the price for housing has increased astronomically. And then our government decided to basically allow unfettered immigration in order to take advantage of the new immigrants’ money so they can use it to fund the Canadian Pension Plan.\n\nJust an FYI, the way CPP is funded is that the current group of working people are paying for the current group of retired seniors. And due to the lack of childbirths and people living longer, the CPP can no longer afford to take care of all the seniors in its system. Thus, the government devised a plan to have more people coming here so as to milk the money they have. Actually, they’ve even gone to the extent to basically allow seniors to be willingly euthanized… it’s absolutely bonkers.\n\nBut anyway, I digress… so then with housing at astronomical prices, you’re now pushing out the poor people onto the streets, causing homelessness. \n\nAnd when people are homeless, the average person will do drugs to escape reality and commit crimes to survive. Which is why it’s now increasingly dangerous in public spaces. \n\nThen, the transportation also never accounted for such a massive increase in population. At least not in Toronto. Which is also causing major inconvenience to go anywhere. \n\nIt used to be that if you lived in the suburbs, you could drive into Toronto pretty quickly but now, it takes like an hour and a half to two hours, making it extremely difficult to get around. And also, hard to take advantage of the “lower” housing prices in the suburbs.\n\nBut that’s not all. Part of the issue is that the Trudeau government wants to no longer have Canada use our oil and gas overnight, which is causing the increase in gas prices. Many Canadians still rely on gas because electric cars are not efficient in Canadian weather and are simply too expensive for your average person. And yet they cut off our supply of oil and gas which causes the price inflation of transport and anything that requires to be moved such as groceries and supplies.\n\nAnd don’t get me started on how our healthcare system is falling apart… even though we pay some of the highest taxes in the world…

The only reason India is lacking behind is because of it's abundant population and it was not blessed with self rule up until 1947 which kind of derailed it's progress by years thanks to European Colonization and discrimination. \nJust as an example for folks who are ignorant to see India as a third world or poor or poorly run country - \n* The way India handled Covid for 1+ billion people is something close to impossible for Canada with a meagre population of around 40 million. \n* You don't have to wait for months or weeks for normal checkups, MRIs, doctors and so on. \n* You don't have to pay $50+ per month for a meagre 10-30gb data instead it's less than $4 per month for 1-2gb/day data (yes per day)\n* The military budget of India is 66 billion dollars while Canada's is a meagre 26 Billion dollars.\n* India is capable of launching advanced missions in Space and has single handedly indigenously created aircrafts to land in moon and space exploration.\n* India has home grown automobile companies like Tata Motors (which owns Jaguar and Land Rover), Mahindra and many more while I don't see any homegrown automobile companies in Canada.\n* India has more than 170 billionaires while Canada has around 70.\n* India's richest people won't even bother to invest in Canada because it's not a viable market, but the economy in India is booming and will continue to do so.\n* Despite the population the country is managing in such a way that Canada can only dream off. Just because you had the privilege and the means to be developed does not give you the right to demean other nations. It's really nothing that you did, it's just pure luck, right place, right time, white superiority, destruction and so on which enables you to live such privileged lives and now you are crying when people are actually working hard to provide some competition.\n\nDon't you think regardless of race or ethnicity, every human being deserves the best life? \n\nBefore you judge a country do some research. \n\nYes, the people in general have a different thought process where in prominence is not given to space, way of living, probably you can put it up as standard of living and the quality of thought process. It's always difficult to see changes around you and your home being in your words being raided by foreign entities. Guess what? The world is filled with different ethnic groups. Hundreds of years ago all your native homes were part of the indigenous people here and they didn't even have time to complain or lament online when the Europeans butchered them and massacred their homelands, claiming the land and setting up as their own. Now you are in a position to call something your home and we all know what all your ancestors did regardless of how good you are right now. The least you can do is not comment such provocatively online against other ethnicities or is this atrocity still there in your blood. It's very simple. Their sole objective was seeking to get hold of the perpetrator, and exact their revenge upon him for this atrocity. \n \nWhilst being detained by churchgoers shortly after the attack, the 16-year-old assailant can be distinctly heard saying on a video clip that he had stabbed the bishop, because he’d “insulted my prophet”. Therefore, those few words, indisputably designate that this assault was premeditated: and, therefore an act of terrorism. Yet, in spite of him saying these words, the usual suspects have emerged in the past few days downplaying affairs. Some of them (all Muslims) are querying how authorities had been so quick, and eager to call this an act of terrorism.\n \nNeedless to say, it’s an absolute certainty that in the coming weeks that the ‘system’ will surreptitiously maneuver, and manipulate circumstances to cast this goon as being a mere aberration within Australia’s Islamic community. What this all amounts to is to prove there are no shortage of Muslims here in Australia (and, indeed, Britain, France, and Belgium/Holland, or Canada, and the US), who consider themselves answerable to the teachings of the Quran, before the society they’re in. \nIn the near future, we will be constantly bombarded with the line that this 16-year-old terrorist is not representative of Muslims, which of course is correct. However, the most ominous concern is that, there needs only to be a couple of hundred fundamentalist Muslims in the country who hold extreme views to wreak havoc. \n \nTragically, mass intakes of people from a bevy of non-Anglo/European cradles over the past 30-35 years has radically transmogrified Australia’s two largest metropolises of Sydney, and Melbourne. Not all poor people living in streets are drug addicts. there can be people who are betrayed by the people they trusted or people living in slums who are earning less/nothing. Government can get them a better home/hut (1940 homes) for least money possible. indian slums, they are not drug addicts. they would probably not have money to even buy food. As much as I'd like to blame it all on the Trudeau government, many of Canada's problems are systemic. Also at least some of the housing cost issues can be blamed on the previous Conservative government, who did everything they could to kick the can down the road and keep the house price gasbag inflating. I will tell you all something funny, Canada made me a citizen in just two weeks. This happened in Sept of 1987, and it was done via the Canadian citizenship centre in Mississauga Ontario. I had an interview with the judge, who was from Pakistan (that is not a lie), then I was sworn in as a Canadian citizen in the chamber and a government employee as a witness.
