The reason for this is Trump wants industry back in the US, and as long as people buy things from outside of the US cheaper, that's not going to happen. Thus the tariffs. That's what they're for, protectionism. Why he pretends it won't be bad for americans or that they won't be paying more for products, I don't know. Perhaps his way of preparing people for bad times. Our country is getting closer to isolationism, and it isn't good if we want inflation and prices to go down. History has shown us what happened to our country when we were isolated, and it brought economic devastation throughout the country. Not once did he talk about why this is happening? He says he's our friend but saying it is one thing. Actions speak louder Trudeau. Mr. Trump asked you to meet him to get balanced fair trade. You say you are our friend. But, yet you don't want fair and balanced trade. Hmmm, common sense goes a long. Tariff is a smart way to let you know that your certainly not acting like the friend and ally you say you are. Boo boo, don’t care. It’s time that the countries we support show some love back. In our time of need we are getting ghosted but everyone expects America to just to attention when there is a conflict or someone needs money. No one cares about our financial needs or our battle with the cartels and illegal immigration. Then screw them. If they want to leave us high and dry because they like the old way of doing things, aka syphoning off Americas wealth, then they can get ghosted right back. I know this will get hate because the people who support CNN are mostly trump haters, but oh well. There’s gonna be a lot of pain before the soothing comes because of all the damage that’s been done. Let this sink in, tariffs / taxes are debt on the tax payers back not the government's, government take taxes, reciprocal tariffs are just other taxes paid by other businesses in other countries to main government. The only way for the tax payer to prosper is by not to playing in the game by being more self sufficient, which obviously government do not like as it is untaxable. Thus regulations on self sufficiency by governments. Now you know who serves who.

We know that our president is a frigging idiot, but the fact he *noticeably* drops his language grade level when “talking directly to” Trump and says “we’ve done *big things*” twice and calls him a “very smart guy” and pulls it into a schoolyard metaphor of “two friends fighting.”\n\nI couldn’t wrap my head around how we got saddled with this joke of a human in 2016. \nCouldn’t fathom how it was close in 2020.\nWant to vomit every day that we allowed this deep, unchecked harm to befall us, our allies, and the entire world. \n\nI keep wanting to just wake up.\nI feel so insane that we seem to have literally no power to stop this, and that the *entirety* of the GOP is completely fine with this. They have the power, but truly with small margins.
