As a French Canadian im aware of some discrimination about the funding of our community, School dont really get the money for new infrastructure. some of our building becoming more old and not really great to use i still like my place thought and i will never consider to move to the USA. Sorry for the American's that can be hurt by those words but i prefer the safety of my family and my community then having some huge racial,hate,gun,violence going in the US.\n\nYes Canada as flaw but still we can gladly say that we feel way more safe and more secure about our bills than anybody in the US. i got some medical condition that would totally have bankrupt my family and myself for decades if i was born in the USA.\n\nIf some American family or some couples that want a great life come to Canada we will gladly accept you as you are :) if you met some jerk in Canada im sorry for that.\n\nSo Tyler would you consider moving to Canada ? =D

Hell yes. I'd move back in an instant. I used to live in the US with my American wife. Coming back to Canada we enjoyed nothing but expense, no rights, a lot of restrictions and now it's becoming like communist China. Love it or hate it America is the last place on earth that has real rights backed up by a real constitution. And you can enjoy any locale not just a few mile strip across the Canadian wet, frozen or scorching nation. People that think the US is bad are deluded and probably leftist, anti-Trumpers, think that the Canadian health care system is free and you have a choice.

I live in canada and am starting my final year of high-school in the fall. I have a lot of friends my age, none of us are planning to stay. All of us are going to the States or Europe. We're not leaving because we don't like Canada, we're being forced out because its too expensive to survive. The last two years have been a slow realization that the options for people my age are A) live on the support of your parents for the rest of your foreseeable life, B) become homeless, or C) leave.\n\nIts especially painful because a lot of people here came from immigrant families who worked hard to come here for a better life for their kids, just to have their kids leave for elsewhere or even return to their country of origin.

I see this done a lot but there's a big difference between correlation and causation. Your Rbc example shows the top people all white, including women I may add. It's very ingenuous to claim racism based purely on who has risen to the top. Would you call the NBA racist because blacks overwhelmingly are represented or did they get there because they were the best? It's really exhausting having to correct leftist talking points based on nothing.\nThis is the problem today, racism is used so much that it's become little more than name calling because people, usually on the left, call anyone they disagree with racist.\nYou dislike illegal immigration? Racist. You can be pro lawful immigration but have the wrong opinion and your a racist.\nHate crimes? These are incredibly rare and are often skewed politically, largely for reasons I just explained but if an indigenous man assaults an Asian lady, it's less likely to be labeled a hate crime as, say a white male doing the exact same.\nNot so common here but in the US, there are numerous examples of blacks assaulting Asians and orthodox jews and the media will cleverly imply it's whites by saying white supremacy is on the rise, then give the stats on hate crimes, most of which were not committed by whites. It's this kind of media manipulation that creates an inaccurate impression.\nNow, for the indigenous, yes, there is systemic racism. We have an entire governmental system treating natives differently with reserves, different taxes, hunting rights etc by definition it's systemically racist although many are a benefit.\nI also agree with your comment on Quebec with it's strong almost nationalist attitudes towards maintaining it's French heritage at the expense of individual rights.\n, please don't label someone or an organization as racist just because a bunch of white people occupy top positions without evidence that racism was the cause when it could just be they were the best candidates. I would counter that racism or xenophobia is far more common in non western countries.\nI would suggest countries in Asia, Africa and others with less multicultural populations harbor more racist sentiment towards other races. Canadas biggest problem is over relliance on US. If they allow themselves to trade with Asia it would be beneficial. Not only that if they stop being US bitch and let Chinese businesses in it might help them. They are playing a game where they will always loose. Canada need policies that incentivize investment from outside. Making Vancouver a tax haven (not for residential property but investments in business) if you invest in business you wont get taxed or taxes are competitively lower, something like ireland and give incentives for startups. 0% tax on startups and keeping low and competitive tax for local industry even later on would help. Vancouver has potential to become something like Singapore or Hong Kong. As of right now Canada has all the policies that discourage investment.

The US-Canada wage gap hits hard. Americans are becoming meaningfully wealthier than us on a per capita basis, all while their housing prices are significantly lower. We're not that far away from the average American making 50% more than the average Canadian. We're getting poorer and it's like no one is talking about it.

In these kind of comparaisons, it's always important to keep in mind that Canada has 10 provinces and 3 territories. Each province and territory have their own way of doing things. So it's pretty much like 13 countries into 1. One thing in Ontario is not gonna be the same as in BC for example. So, whatever someone experiences in Ontario will not be the same elsewhere. Like taxes for example, it's different from 1 province to another. So, it's best for someone who wants to move to Canada to do their research on each province because they do things differently from one another. \n\nAlso in terms of traveling to countries that are closer, yes the UK gets a point because all the other European countries are closer. But in Canada, when you leave a province for another one it sometimes feels like you left for another country ? . Besides the US and Mexico, Canadian also go to Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Brasil, Argentina, Turks and Caicos(lots of Canadian go there that at one point the island was even considering becoming the 11th province of Canada ?) .\n\nIn terms of diversity, it's not that much different from the UK. All the big cities are very diverse, just like the UK. Also, Toronto is the most diverse city in the world.

$57/h value per hour are mostly white Canadians not the immigrants and colored people. Immigrants are making huge mistakes by coming here in Canada and living their good jobs back home. If US today stop investing in Canadian market, the Canada would become like Eastern European countries or may be South American countries. In Canada same goes for jobs. If local government post a job for cleaner then they ask some post secondary education???. Not worth to live here very expensive country. Only people having a good time here are government employees and politicians.

Do yourself a favour and stay in the US. Trust me, you will regret picking Canada. Our shelter costs here are absurd and we have a government that flirts with communism. People easily give up their freedoms for safety. Broken health care system. Chaotic place with a lack of cultural identity, selfish people, divided country. Full of woke virtue signallers. Our young generations hate the old. Western canada and quebec don't even like the rest of Canada. Divided place with crime rates quickly rising, country is quickly turning into a dumpster fire. They are running towards a different kind of poverty here. Some of the places they are running from (mexico), economically have potentially brighter futures than here. The kids might be kicking the parents for this when they get older and see the places where they came from, have better standards of living than the place they fled too. India included, they have the potential to become an economic power house. We hardly produce anything here, and our government chokes off our natural resource exports. We have too big of government, too many regulations, too many taxes. Who would do business in Canada? Name a Canadian company other than shopify. Blackberry... Oh wait its dead. Canada is becoming one big California with crappy weather. I wish Alberta joined the US tbh.\n\nSummed up. Canada is a big ponzi scheme that relies on the greater fool theory. At some point it will get harder to attract fools to want to come here. We are lazy and non-productive, our GDP relies on a housing bubble. As someone who was born and spent decades growing up in Toronto who moved to the US years ago and spend time regularly in multiple states, I disagree vehemently with what Aba said about safety. Aba did not recognize that not only is the US like 50 different countries, with each state being somewhat unique unto themselves, but the cities are like an amalgamation of 2 or 3 different cities. What I mean by that is about the safety and security aspect, it all depends on where you live and where you hang out. Undoubtedly, US ghettos and the sketchy clubbing districts are generally worse than Canadian housing projects and such. If you live in the regular or especially good parts of the city, it's totally safe. \nBecause most US towns and cities are built around neighborhoods, security and safety is always a big selling point. As long as you avoid the ghetto and late night 'action' areas, it's generally safer than Toronto. Toronto suffers from an outbreak of car break ins, car thefts, home break ins and recently car jackings all over. Many US neighborhoods and areas have no such thing. On a side note, as a POC, I also have experienced far less racism in the US than I used to in Toronto. Without getting into a can of worms, if you live in a Democrat controlled city vs. Republican one, you are going to experience more crime, more homeless, higher unemployment, etc. You guys are referencing LA, which has become far worse, like San Francisco and New York. \nAnd the cost of living comment is ridiculous. Again maybe LA and NYC which are shadows of what they once were. Canada has far higher tax burden, way higher inflation, prices of food, energy, clothes and homes are off the charts. In Texas, Florida, Tennessee and Washington, we have ZERO income tax as well as lower tax than the HST. No way, Aba and Preach are dead wrong on these issues, because they are using LA or NYC as a reference. There's a reason the movies Escape From New York and it's sequel Escape From LA are such prophetic movies.

Worst part of Canada is how increasingly Left it's becoming. Two left wing parties dominate our country and will for the foreseeable future. Our right wing party isn't even remotely close to right wing like the US (it's center-right). We're trending toward left wing insanity.

Most people move to Canada and want to live in America North, Toronto, well Toronto has become like any US city, plenty of open daytime shootings, most of Canada would vote to remove the GTA from Canada, I personally love it in Toronto, wouldnt live there but I do like to visit.

I’m not being rude however I’ve never understood why immigrants say they come to the US for a better lifestyle when essentially majority of immigrants hold a prestigious skill in their country only to relocate to the US & become a janitor cook are something beneath what they were doing living a comfortable life just to live like a homeless person coming to America ?? are Canada ?? are anywhere. It has never made sense to me unless u live in a poor underdeveloped country. I knew someone who married a US citizen just for citizenship she has been struggling with her kids for the last 7-8 years she’s been here & still struggling but had a great life in her own country. I live in the US & it’s overrated to a certain extent stay in your country you’ll be a happier person.

You are right ladies , I’ve been living here for 4 years , the health care system is messed up, you have to wait several months or over a year to get an appointment with a specialist, taxes are very very high , you need to have 2 jobs to be able to pay for expenses , I was in college our teacher told us ( we were like 30 students ( his kids were born and raised and Canada and they moved to England and get a better job $$$ and they left , the teacher at the end told us become citizens and go …… to USA , I have 2 jobs and I’m paying taxes like a crazy , I can’t handle that anymore is affecting my mental health

I agree with most of your points, but as a person who immigrated to Canada 23 years ago, I am still happy that i did it, grateful for the opportunities that Canada offered to me, even though i had to work hard for everything. Few points i want to make for those who consider immigrating:\n1. Uprooting yourself from your country, and starting from the bottom in a foreign country is difficult, and not for everyone. Sometimes, when immigrants go back to visit their home countries, they try to present themselves as successful, and tend to exaggerate the positives. Having realistic expectations is crucial, do a thorough research beforehand, prepare yourself, and you will have better chances to succeed.\n2. I also lived in US for almost 2 years: US is better if you want to do business, or if you are highly specialized (IT, healthcare, etc.), but i wouldn't raise children there, even more so if i were a visible minority. \n3. If you are on top of your career at home, think twice before immigrating, unless you find a suitable position before arrival. If you are in a priviledged position, you have connections, doors are opened easily for you, you might find it difficult to adjust without these things. Many people leave their country because of corruption, they will find that they have more opportunities in Canada. \n4. There are some significant differences between provinces in Canada: Quebec offers low university tuition, Alberta offers the best ratio between average income and average housing costs. (You can buy a new house in Edmonton with about 300k) \n5. Canada might not be for those who want to become milionaires in few years, or for those who want a night life like Las Vegas or Ibiza... but if you are a young couple, motivated and hardworking, who want to raise children in a decent environment, to be able to send them to school without fear, Canada might be a good place.

Well I hope you two young and beautiful ladies stick with Canada. \n\nI will say you might be a little off when you say that in the USA you will be paid more and can become richer. The fact is the US has the highest inequality among wealthy nations. And the worst health care, they place 20 out of 20 in the OECD. So wages and getting rich I disagree with, and cost of goods are on par....however housing is still cheaper and that is a big one. \n\nDue to the massive immigration we are experiencing here (too fast imo) it plays a big factor in health care degradation and wait times etc. The government was slow to respond to the fact when you add 300 000 people a year to Ontario it will require more health care providers. \n\nAnd don't forget it was the taxes my ancestors paid that provided the buildings you now enter for health and school etc. It seems that is seldom thought of by new comers. Immigrating to Canada to seek greener pasture is abracadabra. The fact is when you made an important decision that fails, you escalate your commitment to that decision. That’s why many can’t go back home, while others seek migration elsewhere. By and large, Canada is a lovely country where you don’t have people killing each other by the minutes. Like you said, it’s a tradeoff and it’s either you go to the US where you are 10 times likely to become homicide victim, but have much better occupational mobility and opportunities or you choose Canada where there’s peace and tranquillity, but low occupational mobility and limited opportunities.

I couldn't agree with you more. Canada has become another one of those mindless Totalitarian states like American China, Russia, etc., etc. I spent 10 years in China working as a teacher. I went there because I was fed up in my country and when I returned it was worse than when I left. As I am now 68, if I can afford to leave again I will and I'll never return again. I told the Chinese who knew me I was returning because I missed the land, but I never really missed the people. Now that I'm back, since Jan. 2022, I want to leave again and I will and Never return. Health care in this country is in the Sh*t-house, it's impossible to get a family Dr. In part I returned for medical reasons, but now would rather die than have to deal the the Canadian medical bureaucracy - REALLY !!! So, trust me when I say I both understand you and agree with you.\nCanada has become a Sh*t-Hole treating both immigrants and Canadians like sh*t. I'll be glad to go once I can. I'm Canadian and I love both Canada and the US. However, I don't think I would live permanently in the US because I think life is better in Canada overall. We have free healthcare, so no medical bills and no health insurance to deal with. Only a bigger tax bill that doesn't change according to your health situation. We have much less crime, especially gun related crime. We have less poverty and a much better social safety net. It horrifies me how many Americans are homeless even if they previously had a good job, but they had to stop working because of a health condition. We have less political extremism and polarization. Extremist Christians have no control over our politics, so LGBTQ+ rights and women's rights are much safer here than in the US. We don't have cities being burnt down by antifa on one side, and elections and social peace being jeopardized by MAGA extremists on the other. On a more positive note, I love the weather of the US, their fast food joints, their local food, the landscapes, the cheaper gas and all the attractions. I really wish the US could solve all its problems and become a better country. Maybe one day, we could end up similar and open our borders like Europeans do with the Schengen Accord.

I hate to say it but it's true... I live in windsor ontario Canada, when we were kids it was like that, im in my 40s in the 80s and 90s we played outside whatever we wanted. it all started with internet becoming big with social media, and I'm guilty of the video games, them as well as soon as we got Nintendo as kids my parents would make us stop and go outside, but as we got older u started seeing it less and less until where it's at now no kids playing outside very rarely I do see it in the summer but it's very true it's very sad

One of the dumbest videos ever. I’m an immigrant in the US (now a citizen), except for lack of jobs and weather every thing you talk about applies any where for an immigrant. I wanted to go back when I first moved to the US but fought it out with a low paying job before I ended up becoming an Executive. It’s not just Canada - for brown folks like me moving to Russia would be even worse! Also no immigrant leaves Canada in winter to vacation elsewhere in the world unless they are retired or rich. Immigrants are not bears to not work in winter and hibernate. Fun fact - it rains more in Atlanta than in Vancouver, we had 70” rain in 2020, 50”+ in 2021. It's a pity that Americans couldn't just move into Canada. I would have loved to move there. Lived in Michigan before I moved to Texas so the weather wouldn't even be a problem. I actually miss the cold and snow. I feel like the US is becoming a third world country.

I will be leaving Canada within a year or so after declaring non-residency and bring my business with me. My view is that Canada is a good place to live a normal life. Healthcare covers your peace of mind, even if the waitlist is long and bureaucratic. Social benefit is not as generous as people suggest sometimes (at least in Canada unless you're on actual welfare where you can't work but you can't rise your way up easily and you're forever stuck in 1.5k CAD/month... which would be ofc much better than other struggling countries but immigrants often aspire for greater things than that. \n\nEven though I was an Asian immigrant, I never faced significant racism afaik (I could be socially naive however), but there are definitely limitations of opportunities. It's not too difficult to find entry to intermediate jobs, at least for me but that's probably because I did schooling here in Canada. And I was able to network aggressively and learned to be an extrovert, so that also helped. But still, Canadian living cost is high (and I'm saying this from Calgary... imagine what it's like in Vancouver/Toronto). Is it doable? Ofc. 50-70k CAD/year is quite doable ESPECIALLY in Calgary, Alberta. But it'd be difficult to achieve financial independence and true wealth. This is true everywhere ofc but more so in Canada compared to, say, USA where living cost is lower and wage is higher with more opportunities. It's a great place to live normally. If you wanna become exceptional (wealth, customized goods and services, etc), it become harder and costs more. \n\nEven now when I now own business after struggling to get here over 10 years that generates income that I need to achieve financial freedom, tax becomes frightfully bad. Alberta (that imposes lowest tax rate compared to other Canadian provinces (not including territories for obvious reason) is comparable to California in USA that is among the highest in all US states. And let's be real; Alberta is nowhere close of being California. Imagine the taxes in BC/Ontario shiver. \n\nOnce my tax rate becomes high enough to justify moving, I will pull the trigger. Still window-shopping where I wanna go and I have some lists but it's gonna happen especially as Canada will have to deal with their struggling economy, further distancing from US and their government mismanagement that continues to cost the society. I will not have any part in it. I may come back once in a while for visit or potentially retire depending on what the future looks like but right now, I just don't see my longterm future here.

After nearly 13 years as of Jan 1st 2022, I'll be leaving Canada on a one-way ticket; not to my country of origin, but further into new ventures.\n\nIt's been a slog to become a citizen and try and make life work here. It's a good place to be successful financially if you make sound choices, and then to live a fairly quiet, isolated life. If all you want is to live within your own ethnic community and have a better quality of life, it's a good place.\n\nUnfortunately, it's never had enough culture or meaning for me. Life feels pretty empty no matter how much money you make. The national identity being based around home-ownership feels extremely depressing to me.\n\nAnd you're both on point about the reserved, passive-aggressive nature of Canadians. I've become like that too now. It's pretty obvious that it costs us dearly; people are unable to be genuinely warm, to take risks and form real friendships. Everything feels surface-level because no one risks taking the steps that might even be a bit of intrusion into each other's lives that is the signal of the start of a close friendship. Most Canadians think they live in the U.S. and seem unable to name a single important issue in their own province or country. Everyone want to sit in the office and earn money. Thousands of people graduate from schools every year and thousands come from foregin countries to work here in the office. Canada don't have so many companies like US and can't give everyone work in the office. And in the future so many office jobs will disappear due to the technology. Don't think to sit in the office and earn. There are so many jobs in construction and transportation and traits. Try them and become skillful and earn money.

I'm not aware of a US based media network doing an investigation like this. Fox news definitely wouldn't educate their viewers like this. Is that the difference between USA and Canada? Is Canada trying a little harder to be more self aware? I'm a US citizen (half white, half Filipino) and I am trying to be more aware of my racial biases and I've caught myself a few times. I think this is good and healthy. It's like working out a muscle to become stronger. Let's work on noticing our hidden biases.

Ah...a LOT of Canadian dudes leave their family for weeks, even months to make money up North! Why is this made to seem so horrible and dramatic...Like, it cost us 15, 000 dollars ourselves to move to Sacramento with my husband's job with the Hard Rock Cafe Corp....we were living at the poverty line there...my husband was never home...my Visa was cancelled after 911. Gratefully, I was able to just boot it back home to Canada I detested living in the U. S , and only went along to support my American born husband, anyway. It seems to me that these ppl's expectations were uninformed and unrealistic. Canada is a welcoming refuge, but as with everything, theres a process to becoming Canadian.

The great danger of Muslim's in the west is that they're a 5th column. While many Muslim's in Canada are moderates, when Islam becomes a powerful force in Canada and the terrorists take over the the Islamic parties, the moderates will bend the knee and support them.
