Once your student permit expires, you go back to your country of origin. If you want to apply for PR, this should be done from your home country. Work permits should be suspended while Canada is suffering with job loss. CIC needs stop issuing PR to individules who've overstayed in Canada past their permit expiry, not proceed with the PR file. This is a mess, and Liberal government has known about it for decades. No student or worker has the right to stay past their permit expiry, period.

The immigration file has been completely botched and mishandled by an inept and very stupid government. Mass immigration without a plan for increased housing, medical staff, infrastructure help, or even increased staff at immigration centres, etc. is madness, and chaos has ensued. I studied in India for several years, and was careful to respect Indian culture vis a vis dress codes, learning Hindi, and behaviour. It is only normal courtesy to do so. It becomes more difficult when numbers increase drastically over a v. short period of time since people coming here are not widely exposed to Canadian culture. This completely inept and corrupt government needs to go: like yesterday. I think of myself as anti-racist, but when I go for a medical test and see that 95% of patients appear to be of middle-eastern origin, while I haven't been able to find a family doctor for 10 years, I do get a little irritated. And I'm a boomer; younger people in Canada are competing for education, jobs, housing, as well as medical care, so I can understand people becoming angry. I think that currently this backlash is against the government, not immigrants, and not one community in particular. I am cynical enough to think that this government went for mass immigration because they have no economic plan for prosperity, and bringing in several millions would raise GDP. But percapita GNP has been falling for 8 quarters, so we are definitely in a recession. I think Trudeau did this so his economic incompetence would not be obvious. Anyway, that's my appeal: we should be upset at a government that caused this chaos, not at individual immigrants nor a specific community.

What I’ve observed is that most of the fast food restaurants and the delivery services are now dominated by Indian. It seems like if there is one Indian manager in charge of a company he/she will hire mostly Indian people. I don’t mind who own those franchises but please at least maintain the original product and service. Don’t try to be “too smart” by lowering the standards to get more profit. I been to Canada 10 times over the years and Canadians were friendly and welcoming, not so much now and it’s not racism it is because the uneducated, uncivilised uncultured Indians and Khalistanis who find their way into the country through fraudulent means and run a muck . I'm thinking that the next government which I hope will be led by Pierre Poilièvre, will seriously opt for a solution like opening a Canadian school in India and in other countries so that people don't have to come here to study in a Canadian school/college/university. That way, they could study in their country without having to move and face difficulty in living abroad which for them should be only allowed for a certain number of years and then that they have to return to their country of origin. Once back in their country of origin should they want to immigrate here, well there is an official process for immigration that needs to be done. No skipping steps and that has to be done from outside of Canada.

We had not communicated in a long time BUT... I think you were surprized how much you enjoyed to exploration of Russia a few years ago but quality of life was very good then but even better now, but retaining the unmatched access to culture, very low cost of living much lower crime rate than Canada/US/Europe, and cost of living about 1/10th of Canada, great health and easy to get a residency and citizenship due to being from Ukraine originally. For your travels, it is a little more complicated due to US sanctions but from here in St Petersburg it is really easy to travel by bus to Estonia and fly anywhere in the world. Estonia is the cheapest cost of living in the Baltic. I have flown to California several times using that route and to London the flight is $50 euros. \nAlthough you explored a lot here there is so much more to see and experience.\nThere is no doubt the western countries that relied on cheap labor and resources from colonies are all in a downward spiral and the east is rising. I have a relative originating from Caribbean who recently tried setting up in Canada, and echoed what the commentator has, i.e. that you have to start from the bottom in terms of work, having to work unskilled jobs, even if you are already qualified in a profession in your country of origin. Catch-22 situation of being required to have Canadian experience first, is true.

It's a Canadian tragedy that immigrants are homeless in Toronto and smaller communities are begging for an influx of people. There should be an incentive for immigrants to choose to bring their talents to rural Canada and form a new community away from their original homeland. This is how it was when my grandparents came to the prairies, a German community flourished.
