This is all making me so sick. I really appreciate Trudeau addressing Americans. I just hope Canadians and other good around the world remember that many people here do not want this. I'm afraid many of us may need help soon.

I’ve read a lot of comments from people saying “Trudeau ruined Canada” in response to people expressing their support for Trudeau in this time.\n\nThat’s not really a great point.\n\nIf Trudeau hasn’t been good for Canada, but gives a coherent, inspiring, and professional speech in this moment that unites Canadians and others alike, then that should speak so much to how awful this situation is. Huge respect to Trudeau and Canada for not backing down. I hope one day we’ll be allies with the right side of the world again.\n\nWe wanna talk about a leader ruining a country? That’s what Donald is doing right now. Except he won’t unite us in the future with a speech like this.\n\nThis American stands with Canada!

I stand with America but I support Ukraine and I support Canada. But these tariffs have got to go. Good speech Trudeau and God help us all.

You lost me as soon as you mentioned OUR Liberal narrative Putin, after that you just sound like a typical liberal crybaby. I feel for you all, i do, but we had tariffs before and its fine to have yhem again, the market will correct and we will manufacture our own goods and energy. You aren't flexing shit because we can tarrif you right into a 51st state, unfortunately you would be like California. Who is gonna protect your ass in a war? Whos tax dollars? You been dragging ass for a century and not paying your way, meanwhile the US pays more for military to cover your ass. Keep talking shit, join Ukraine and let me know how it works out.

Good luck from Australia, If the US does this to Canada then NO US ally is safe, Trump may make America broke again. MABA.....
2025-03-04 0
If the US imposes any sanctions against Australia , Australia will impose tarrifs against the US of 100% and reduce tariffs significantly to goods and services in Canada, Mexico, UK, Japan, Taiwan and China

All you US dems liberal cnn brainwashed morons speaking good about Trudeau is hilarious. This idiot has destroyed Canada that's why he and his libtards is getting the boot come election. Liberal woke idiots

will the costs of the goods go down or will they go up?\n\nit seems to me that there will be a winner and that will be the person who is already winning, not the average person. the wealthy have picked a pretty face to whisper sweet nothings to the public while they do everything they can to gorge themselves on us; their cattle.\n\nwe live in little boxes with water treated with chlorine and ammonia and only a short amount of time in the sun. hardly enough sun to grow your own vegetables or enough room to graze your own cattle.\n\nchlorine and ammonia inhibit the growth of plants

Tough times are upon us... But we will prevail. Become stronger, wiser, deeper, and more humble. \n\n\nRemember, this is not only the punishment. This is a great test, too. \n\nTake care of yourselves. Share love and respect. And do what you can do for the greater good. For all of us.\n\n\nFrom a citizen of Russian Federation.??

I wonder why the US is not able to produce a decent human being good enough to be president these days...

As a Canadian citizen I have always admired the US up until now, I sincerely wanted to move to the US to build homes and start up a company. But now am re-evaluating my decision because if this how the US treats their friends and allies, I really feel sad for their enemies. Both countries benefited from having a good relationship and now the great US has no one willing to challenge Mr Trump on this idiotic move, America is alienating themselves from a lot of countries and regular Americans are the ones who are going to suffer from this fall-out, the rich won't be affected but regular working class folks your stress is going to get a whole lot worse and that's unfortunate. Hopefully US wises up sooner rather than later and stop blaming immigration for their problems it's poor governing and politicians that have us looking at each other as enemies rather than humans with the same struggle and issues. They have money to send annually overseas but none to improve the life of their citizens in need, that should tell you something. People that don't look like you aren't your enemies, people who try to harm you, undermine you are your enemies. People are just searching for a better life that's all, the most basic thing humans have in common, change the red tape a make things more structured and rid your country of the bad apples and welcome those willing to work, build and serve God and the country. May God help us all the beginning of Sorrows has begun ?.

Just to make thing clear. Most of us Canadians do no like Trudeau and most of our politicians, like yours in the US they are owned by entities that do not serve our Peoples.\nUS citizens and we Canadian will hurt, but Donald and Trudeau and associates WILL NOT HURT at all in this, they are already multimillonaires, but us commoners will have it tough. This is the price for electing tv stars and on surnames!\nWe Candians, like you in the US are entramped by two political parties; meaning, we chosse between bad and worse every time, we the People must break free from this slavery asap.\nNew fronts are merging to create a better and decent world, us, the US, and Canadian ought to have a good look at them all!

The border is a smoke screen for what Trump wants...our resources gor nothing. He says the US doesn't need anything, yet he wants, Canada, Greenland, Gaza, and is holding Aid over Ukraine's head for an unfair trade deal of resources. He wants everything his greedy little hands can grab. \n\nI am glad my government is getting more trustworthy trade partners because we should never be so reliant on trade with the US again. \n\nWe are boycotting US goods, services, and destinations. The bond will never be the same. Once you lose trust, it isn't so easy to ear it back. We can't trust Trump and who knows if the one after him will be any better.

Trudeau is 10X the man and leader than Trump. The contrast is real. Canada we stand with you against this moron as he drags the US into an economic freefall which could very easily result in millions of lost jobs, increased cost of goods - including gas, market items, cars, lumber and more. A tariff is a tax on Americans. Trump is planning on using those tariff dollars to help offset the actual tax cut for the billionaires. Tuck Frump. Resist the ignorant fool.

I’m a 53 year old Canadian. I went to college on an athletic scholarship & lived there for 10 years after turned professional in my sport. Why, why, why - with all the problems going on in the world right now to tackle - why would you want to start a trade war with your closest trading partner & most loyal ally? Not to mention that your list of Allies is shrinking daily. This is not going to end well for either of us. \nI just arrived home from a trip to the grocery store - making sure nothing in my cart said “ made in the USA” on it due to the new tariffs that began today. \nThe irony is, many of the states where Trump won by the biggest margin, are the states that are going to get hit the hardest from Canadian retaliation tariffs ( Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Indiana, the Dakotas - just to name a few). A lot of farmers in those states are going to be hit extremely hard with the fertilizer tax. After Canada, the next 3 largest Potash producers are Russia, Belarus & China. So , good luck \nWhen the cost of fruit & vegetables skyrocket across the US. Maybe you’ll put a little more thought into your vote 4 years from now.

No offence - is that not US imposing a tax as reciprocal/ you reduce your tax for American goods it automatically reduces your tax !! Why so much Politics in it! We can’t expect Americans to pay our bills , no everyone is super rich in America there are beggars at street we can see it

As an American. I don't think it was a good thing to bully other countries, especially allies and neighbors. There are other diplomatic ways to do things. I am not left or right, but I felt like Obama and Clinton had better ways with international relationships. I know our leader are trying to do their best for us Americans, and well we have been helping other countries for decades. Maybe, it is time that other countries start paying us back. I don't know why every move has to be on the media though? Especially the bullying with Zelensky? They could have talked over it without showing it to the whole world. What do yo guys think? Was that even necessary?
2025-03-04 0
I think the US president is making the US economy worse, taxes and prices in the country will increase, and relations with other countries will not be good. Since taking office, he has only focused on the small number of rich people with a lot of money, while 90% of the population is struggling with prices and taxes, so he has nothing to care about. What did the American people vote for him to do? To make people's lives better, to have more jobs, to make taxes better...etc. He only talks but has not done anything. The words of a rich person like him are not trustworthy.
2025-03-04 0
Goodbye USA. It was good to know you, but now you’ve become a tool of Russia!? can the US covert services take this moron out. They must have a long list of able operatives who could neutralise him!

I am a proud Canadian and embrace our sovereignty. We fought in WW2 for two years before the U.S joined our side . Rescued 6 of their diplomats in Iran in 1979. We were at their side in Afghanistan after the horrors of 9/11. Our good people of Gander Newfoundland sheltered, clothed and fed them in that aftermath when their planes were grounded. We sent planes to Los Angeles as did Mexico to fight the wildfires after Trump imposed his tariffs and pushed his annex ideology and making us a 51st state. That was a slap in the face to every soldier who died standing for our country and what we represent. From my heart I thank all of you for your support. We stand on guard for thee....and we stand for the Ukrainian. ❤

Why are Western leaders blind-sighted by what Trump is doing? For many years now the US is declining slowly, slowly and then suddenly under the Biden Administration....Pres Trump has no choice but to take drastic action to stop the collapse of the US Empire. What he is doing many may be against but one thing is for sure. Pres Trump is putting America first and this is what good leaders do...
2025-03-04 0
The only reason the US imports so much from Canada is because the Democrats stopped production of all the materials Canada supplies the US because of their green policies. \nBut President Trump is reopening the gas, oil, electricity and agriculture production, so they won’t need to import so much from Canada, in fact probably reducing it substantially. \nProbably what will happen now is discussions on various goods to become equal on terms of cost in both countries levelling the playing field.
2025-03-04 0
President Trump doesn't care. The US has been subsidizing Canada's electrical grid for over $250 million dollars a year. Canada will loose that. In addition, US automotive industries like stellantis are moving productions back to the US from Canada. Canada has been charging the US dairy products 250% in tariffs, US Bourbon and whiskey 180% for over 4 years. China has been charging Ford 200% tariff so much so that ford can no longer afford to sell their vehicles in China.....all these outrageously high tariffs were designed to protect their domestic products.... China was suposed to spend 4 billion dollars a year in US goods but they have been consistently spending only 1.9 billion each year . Trade deficit of over 2 billion dollars. What sane person would allow this to happen in a free market and call this fair trades????? I have no knowledge of this until recently.
2025-03-04 0
Thanks for making it clear what you did right but not making it clear on what the US administration wanted from you that you said no to that caused the tariff implementation. It's possible you miss 50% of your illegal border crossings into the u.s. since so much of your border isn't secured. The 1900% increase in illegal crossing in the past few years doesn't look very good. It's dumb to assume you did everything right and then the u.s. just randomly decided they'd continue with the tariffs for fun. Be more honest and say where you put your foot down so the American public can better understand what is going on.
2025-03-04 0
First acknowledge that a country has the right to control its borders. The US has lost its Aircraft industry (Boeing), its Car industry (Detroit) and now its Semiconductor industry (Intel). Millions of unscreened people are infiltrating. Trump is trying. In the case of Canada and Mexico tariffs are counter-productive. Its tough to turn a declining empire around. His strategy is to tax foreign goods instead of taxing US resources and to force local production. The US citizen pays either way.
2025-03-04 0
canadians can do better now by flooding USA with this drugs a means of revenge and raise 100% tariff on all US goods so Canadian wont buy them and choose their own local products...
2025-03-04 0
Every country should be responsible for their own goods. The day we start relying on other countries for what we need we're in a heck of a mess. Because China couldn't get our merchandise to our plant we had to shut down for almost a month. We messed up sending some of our work to China. After this we got everything in the US. Cheaper prices are not the solution. Cheaper labor is not the answer. Trump is concerned about the drugs coming into our country and since the borders are affected these drugs will be coming into our country many other ways. You know where criminals go to get out of the US. Canada. Trump is doing this for our country and you can bet on this. I'm sick of drugs in our country killing people everyday. I'm sick of guns but just about every household owns guns. Children are killed in their own homes with guns. Who cares about alcohol being sold in their state. Honestly. People are homeless because of addiction to alcohol. Yeah saying president Trump using fentanyl for this for this trade war was a bad move. President Trump is doing this for the drugs taking over this country.
2025-03-04 0
Fentynal killed my son. ?\ntRump doesn't give a crap about us. He's a liar. Good luck with them. Yes, he a dum dum.

Year 1812. Canada has been good to US for 100s of years.

Very good speech from a true leader ! So sad that Trump is doing this to the best allies of the USA. Obviously, Putin does really have some compromising videos and info on Trump and he is manipulating him. Today, I am ashamed to have become an US citizen. Is this what the American Dream has become ? Isolationism from our best allies and sleeping with the enemy and dictators ?
2025-03-04 0
A 999% better speech as any of “Donald” ? who talks about peace but fights with all “alliances” ?\nPutin loves to attack innocent people living far from war zones, yeah thats the “good guy”.\nCanada, Mexico and also Europe really harrassing The US, OMG without them US will become third world country.

As an American, I am very sad to see our neighbors and friends pull away from us. All of these decades of working together to achieve the greater good for the world; destroyed by one man's selfishness, greed, and delusion. Don't get me wrong, he's supported by people that worship him and are pushed on by their own delusions of grandeur and selfishness. They can't see the immovable, solid wall they are hurdling towards. I hope in the future, our past friends and allies are willing to take us back once these fools get kicked out.
2025-03-04 0
I like how he uses this opportunity to act so dramatic and insulted when the obvious and expected plan was that every country will apply tarrifs to the US. And it will be a good thing that all countries have this
2025-03-04 0
US will the only loser here , Canada doesn't need US trade but the US needs Canadian resources that can't be replaced by any other Country , this is going to be good for Canada we needed this, free trade with EU and Asia , huge NG contracts with Europe ,our softwood lumber can be gobbled up by Europe and Asia , going to build our own pipe lines and refineries and sell gas and oil at a higher price . 10 yrs from now Canada will be one of the riches Countries in the World !!!

Our US president should take a good look at Justin's way of speaking. Very firm, but very diplomatic. He carries hisself very well. Teach the u.s. president how one behaves as a president. Way to go Justin\n\n\n\nQ

Canada’s 25% Tariffs? A Win for American Businesses in the Long Run\n\nAt first glance, Canada slapping a 25% tariff on U.S. goods might seem like a negative for America. But in reality, this move could actually work in our favor by making the U.S. economy stronger, more self-sufficient, and less dependent on foreign markets.\n\t1.\tBoosting American Manufacturing & Production – When Canada makes U.S. goods more expensive with tariffs, American businesses have a huge opportunity to shift focus to domestic markets and new trade partners. This could bring more production back home and reduce reliance on Canada.\n\t2.\tEncouraging Trade Diversification – The U.S. isn’t limited to Canada. If they want to play hardball, we can expand exports to other countries with fewer trade restrictions. Canada makes up about 15% of U.S. exports, but the rest of the world is wide open. This is a chance to diversify and strengthen our economy.\n\t3.\tMaking Canada Pay More for U.S. Goods – Tariffs don’t just hurt exporters—they also raise costs for Canadian consumers. If Canada wants American products, they’ll end up paying more or have to settle for alternatives that might be lower quality or more expensive from other countries.\n\t4.\tStrengthening America’s Negotiating Position – If Canada wants to raise tariffs, that gives the U.S. even more leverage in future trade talks. The U.S. economy is far larger and more powerful than Canada’s, and in the long run, they need us more than we need them.\n\t5.\tReducing America’s Trade Deficit – If fewer goods are exported to Canada, that means more products stay in the U.S. This helps lower dependence on foreign markets and could even stabilize prices for American consumers.\n\nBottom Line: Canada’s Move Hurts Them More Than It Hurts the U.S.\n\nIf Canada wants to put tariffs on U.S. goods, let them. In the long run, it pushes America to be more self-reliant, strengthens our industries, and forces Canada to pay the price for their own policies.\n\nAt the end of the day, America has the stronger economy, better resources, and more trade options—Canada needs U.S. trade more than we need theirs. If they want to make American goods more expensive, they’ll feel it a lot more than we will.

Dear Justin, 75 million Americans voted against Donald Trump in the recent election. We appreciate your speaking directly to us today and in recent speeches you have given. We know what a good ally you have been to the US and we also know your primary concern is to Canadian citizens. While many of us have done what we could do and we also know the current trade arrangement was negotiated with you by Donald Trump in his previous term which leaves many of us scratching our heads. For my part it deeply saddens me that this has happened and all we ask or all that I ask is that you remember those of us who did not vote for this. Slightly less than half of the country. When this is over, and it will end one day we look forward to breaking bread with Canada again.
2025-03-04 0
Why don't people know that Canada already has tariffs placed on our goods long before Trump....look it up... their tariffs are and were much higher....to the point were they benefited much more than the US did
2025-03-04 0
Trump thinks he can control the world and extort money to line his pockets...Trump is revegeful, boastful and even the late QE knows that is also a balatant thief ...there is absolutely nothing good about him ....anybody else who is found guilty in the US are subjected to a prison sentence but Trump will corrupt the even the justice system so that he can wilfully commit more crimes and not be sentence to prison but can go on freely to commit more criminal acts. The American people who dont want more sufferings should strip him of the title president and kick the him out of the White House soon.
2025-03-04 0
What's the trolling horse? Cause Trump is doing stuff and nobody's watching what he's doing. Guess what? This can be World War 3, no matter what Canadians do to protect their borders. He aint gonna be satisfied anyway, so we gotta cut our resources and go somewhere else. Take our goods and baskets out of the basket. And start dealing outside of the US that was our big mistake we don't want to deal with Russians. This putin is nothing but a dictator please nobody
2025-03-04 0
on the other hand, US with tariffs will protect its own borders from imported cheap goods and create local produced companies and products. So, no thanks, i will take the tariffs for American prosperity.
2025-03-04 0
Tariffs are not good for international relations, however it will force US companies to buy goods and services elsewhere, including from US companies.
2025-03-04 0
There it is which government can screw up their country. The fastest Trump has done more good Trudeau is making businesses not be able to continue working. Reduce how many the businesses work for us and increasing the price of everything
2025-03-04 0
He did a good job making it sound like the US needs Canada. It's the other way around.
2025-03-04 0
Justin.. the economy is already shit! The economy has been shit for over a year. We aren't your friend! Where were you when Biden was burying us alive?? Why didn't you stop him??? Good luck I suppose!

*Canada's Response to US Tariffs: A Measured Approach*\n\n*Executive Summary*\n\nIn response to the 25% tariffs imposed by the US on Canadian goods, Canada has announced a robust countermeasure. Effective immediately, Canada will impose 25% tariffs on $20.7 billion worth of imported goods from the US. This initial phase is part of a larger plan to impose tariffs on up to $155 billion worth of US goods, should the current tariffs remain in place.\n\n*Key Highlights*\n\n- *Tariffs on $20.7 Billion Worth of US Goods*: Canada's initial response includes tariffs on various products, such as:\n - Food and beverages: orange juice, peanut butter, wine, spirits, beer, coffee\n - Consumer goods: appliances, apparel, footwear, motorcycles, cosmetics\n - Industrial products: pulp and paper products\n- *Additional Tariffs on $155 Billion Worth of US Goods*: If the current tariffs remain in place, Canada plans to impose additional tariffs on products, including:\n - Electric vehicles\n - Fruits and vegetables\n - Beef, pork, dairy\n - Electronics\n - Steel, aluminum\n - Trucks, buses\n- *Non-Tariff Options*: Canada is exploring non-tariff options, including export restrictions and investment measures.\n- *Remission Process*: A remission process has been established to consider requests for exceptional relief from the tariffs.\n\n*Rationale*\n\nCanada's response is a direct result of President Trump's decision to impose tariffs on Canadian and Mexican goods, citing concerns over fentanyl trafficking and trade agreements. However, Canada has argued that the tariffs are unjustified and will have devastating consequences for both American and Canadian economies.\n\n*Conclusion*\n\nCanada's response to the US tariffs is a measured and targeted approach, aimed at protecting Canadian interests and jobs while also encouraging the US to reconsider its decision ¹ ² ³.

I will miss my Prime Minister Trudeau. He speaks for me, and I know, many others . . . .we aren't interested in buying American goods. We aren't interested in visiting the states. We are focused, at this point, on our own economy. In the last month I have discovered a few gems, produced by local businesses within 100 miles of where I live. Healthier for my family, healthier for my economy. More expensive, yah, a little. But in the long run, it will make us a stronger economy, a stronger nation.
