Good to see someone standing up to Trump when so many politicians are scared of confronting him. I really hope Canada isn't too badly affected by the weird economic strategies of Trump. I hope the people of the USA aren't too badly affected either.

As usual, trump is playing to his MAGA base. He's pretty good at manipulating public sentiment. But he sure as hell isn't qualified for ANY public office, let alone POTUS. Sadly, the majority of my fellow americans have become so stupid that they don't even comprehend what's happening.\n\nI'm in my 70s, and have witnessed decades of cooperation between Canada and the US. This is a supremely disappointing development.

Wow, Trump is good. Shook Canada to listen and work now. I am sure he has their attention, and an a few weeks, he will fix these tariffs. The point here is he is not playing any games with the world and he is putting America first best to work with then against America.

Trump is trying to manufacture a pretext for invading Canada. Trump will soon state that due to Canada's illegal tariffs that are stopping the supply of strategic goods necessary for the security of the United States, he is ordering the US military to invade Canada to secure the supply of those assets. US military of all ranks, you have sworn an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies. Trump is a traitor, he is betraying his allies, he is betraying the Constitution, he is dismantling the system of checks and balances that are enshrined in the Constitution. Canada just needs to fix the trade deficit with the United States. If Trudeau does, the U.S. tariffs would not happen. Canada has turned a deaf ear when the U.S. requested a fair trading partner and less deficits in the past decades. Trump was obligated to put a tariff on Canadian goods entering the U.S. since Canada did not resolve the problem.

trumps tarrifs tax on goods imported from Canada are paid by the AMERICAN COMPANIES who import the goods, NOT paid by Canadian companies, it's an extra sales tax which raise prices.

So can someone clarify for me something, the US is puttint tarrifs against 3 seperate nations about 25% each and then the nations are in turn implementing tarrifts on the US about 25% each, so in total about 75%, how does trump think this is a good idea, each nations that we have tarrifs on only have a fraction of the total tarrifs we will feel, or am I wrong for adding the tarrifs from china mex and canada ??

I think Canada is the best partner you can have. Unfortunately, I fear that Trump has no interest in good relations with civilized partners, whether in America, Europe or worldwide. Born and raised living in Ontario Canada and I applaud Trump Canada has had a 35 to 40% tariff on American goods. Only difference is we call a duty tax? It’s about time America stuck it back to us.

Americans obviously didn’t understand what tariffs are, didn’t get that it’s an import tax which they must pay on goods and products they buy from Canada, a tax which tRump collects from Americans and uses to pay for tax-cuts for the richest citizens. From the USA: Why is it right for Canada to tariff us more than we tariff them? Trump pointed out that there was a 200 billion a year tariff deficit for the USA. Some say that number is inflated and the real number is somewhere around the 70 billion mark in Canada's favor. No one disagrees that the US has a huge tariff deficit with Canada. So, the USA is just leveling the playing field. It's time to truly have level trade with the rest of the world, not just Canada. No more free lunch from the US to the world. We want free and fair trade, but for that to happen we must tariff other countries goods at exactly the same level they tariff our goods.
