I completely disagree with the international student english proficiency requirement to get a PGWP (i.e. for all international students). To get into any University program in Canada, you will need to pass an English Language proficiency test like IELTS or TOEFL anyways. At least for my four years of an Engineering degree, three co-op terms and a full-time secured Engineering position, 8 months before graduation you would think this international student knows how to communicate in English :). \n\nYes, there are certain students who just want to get the PR and don't care about the degree they are getting and probably just passed with the minimum IELTS requirement. A solution would be to make certain degrees like college diploma students take the English Language proficiency test again and at least have a language testing system which is free for these people. Spending $300-$400 after spending so much on international tuition fee to graduate from Bachelor's degree is a good policy in my honest opinion.

There are 2 reasons behind bringing in so many international students. \n1. Greed of universities and colleges so they can charge them an exorbitant amount of fees and make billions. (International Students pay 3 times the fees compared to a canadian citizen) \n2. Prop up the prices of the real estate market which is already in a bubble to avoid prices from collapsing.

I see no flaw in their logic,\n\nThe truth is that I believe that the bad strategies implemented by the government, and the lack of regulation, harmed everyone who wants to do things well. I don't want to offend anyone, but it is totally illogical that a country as popular as Canada has not put these measures in place before, which are not brutal, they are basic. \n\nThink that most countries in the world do not allow an international student to work 24 hours a day. Furthermore, the level of fraud for admission to colleges and universities is very high, many students do not even go to classes...and do not even pass the language filters. Added to the agencies that promoted the lie that if you studied two years at college, you would get the PR :S, NOBODY DID ANYTHING.

Hello Anna and Anastasia your channel is truly a hidden gem full of useful information and insight. I am an international student myself and I agree with all your points in the video, Canada used immigration to fix a deeper problem and that is its difficulty to incentivize the economy by having a heavily regulated environment, high taxes and low productivity. It will definitely alleviate some of the pressure on the system but, the real cause is still there. The first sector that is going to be affected will be the education as colleges and universities became over reliant with the revenue coming from Int. Students (which is not particularly small) and institution will need to adapt. When I first came here I fell in love with the country and I really feel fortunate to enjoy this beautiful place and doing everything to assimilate and integrate myself into the culture. I think here you can have a sense of hope of things improving in the future (something that is not the case in my home country) but if they do not fix the underlying problem it does not matter how much immigration they reduce, Canadians will not see a significant improvement. Keep the awesome work!!!

I was amazed at how many students could not tell me what are the three branches of government. \n\nThis is one of those communities that voted heavily maga. The colleges and canada should give the students back the money they spend.. and then student will go back peacefully.

All indian students below 25, should have ECR (emigration check required) on their passports, their invitation letters from colleges should be scrutinized by the Ministry of External Affairs and Department of education, GoI. Only after that they should be allowed to travel. This can be embarrassing for the indian government, must be controlled at all cost.

The courses they offer in Canada are worthless and do not guarantee a job in the Canadian labour market, except for a minimum wage job at Singh Horton's, which is almost exclusively staffed by Indian students, only the colleges profit

Elon Musk is an illegal. He lied on his petition to become as US citizen. Musk entered the country on a F-l student visa but did not attend college. On the admission for US citizenship a person is asked. Have you ever been in the US illegally. If he had answered the question truthfully he would have been denied his citizenship. This protest is a joke! They know what they signed up for before coming to Canada. So,  they should work within the rules and find a way to legally settle (if they can) or leave. \n\n\nHowever, Canadians deserve to know more about this mess which is an outcome of aggressive marketing by Private colleges and the government's greed to get quick cash into the Canadian economy. Here are some clarifications to note:\n\n\n1. In the last six years, 1.5 million international students brought a minimum of $67,500,000,000 direct cash into the Canadian economy. (Assuming a min $40-45000 per student for 2 year diploma, between to $100,000 - 150,000 for undergrad, and around $50,000 for Masters degrees). Usually, international students have to pay most of this money before applying for the study visa. \n\n\n2. These colleges employ Canadians for their day to day operations. From cleaning, maintainance, administration to teaching, each college operates with approx 20-30million budget. So, more students lead to more employment for Canadians who further pay taxes.\n\n\n3. All students start work straightaway, pay taxes, and do not qualify for social security. They do not qualify for any student loans by Canadian govt or banks. So, they generate revenue for Canada through their work and taxes. The thing that govt LOVES.\n\n\n4. These students become new consumers and their expenditure generate revenues for local businesses.\n\n\n5. Most Colleges would not survive without international students. Which is good in the sense that only quality colleges will survive and other hanky panky colleges would shut down. However, such closures will lead to job losses, bankruptcy when the colleges won't be able to afford their expenses.\n\n\nSo, considering these factors it will be an industry collapse. Govt needs to control immigration. They need to introduce intelligent policies. The steps that current govt is currently taking are politically motivated not rational.

Let's talk about Canadian colleges and immigration have been milking and exploiting international students. These students bring a hell lot of money to the Canadian economy and yet they are treated as third class citizens.\nTry shutting down international students and see how the economy goes into a down spiral

It's not just the Government alone, The Universities, Colleges, Training Centres and their recruiting agents are all part of this legally organized crime. They all make money when the students are coming and the fact is these students know the education level in Canada won't help them get a decent job when they return back to their own country. The fact is International students from India are visible because they come in mass numbers. The International students from countries also come to study and they are also given PR's but is not visible due to their numbers. It's the Governments job to make sure and have it in written format that any International student coming for study has to go back and then reapply for a job if available. Also the Visitors, Parents or relatives should be dealt the same way.

First teach your kids to atleast complete high school. The statistics of white kids dropping out of high school is so high and yet they complain of stealing jobs. And the few children who do complete high school won't even go to college or do their post grad. And the ones who actually go until that level will study in ivy league colleges that too in the US. And those kids will never come back to Canada and work after that. They will get a job in US itself. So stop complaining that Indian students steal jobs when they are the only ones available for those jobs that require a college or post grad qualification.

India has so good college at 1/10 of the price . But the thing 90% of the student go to abroad work and earn money without any bad intentions. Canada open so many fake college to get more international student and change 4-5 time then local ... So it's both student and Canada fault...

I went to Seneca College and was classmates with a number of Indian students. The things some of them had to go through to get there was astonishing. I'm not surprised by this report at all.

Canada relies on immigration for pretty much everything 1) colleges make money 2) landlords make money 3 ) government makes money from more taxes 4) banks make money from more mortgage applications 5) realtors make money . And they know majority of international students goal is to later. Buy a house Punjabi people own more real estate then most people in Canada combined. They are skilled migrants. Why do Canada take them in? Because they lack skilled white people to do their jobs. Also lack of population. Indians don’t do drugs and they work and earn money and contribute to the society. And for the matter of fact they don’t just come from India they are invited to Canada from India by Canadian government policies and by Canadian companies. Medical and IT professionals are given big offers to come and live in Canada. However that may not be the case for students. Students are in large numbers and they want to stay back. Too many students is a problem. Colleges just take in too many of them, because they pay the money. Bring some control over colleges and students intake. There are too many new colleges just for business and that’s not good.

There are majorly two types of ' outsiders ' that the government takes in : students and asylum seekers. Seen purely from financial viewpoint, homing and providing for the latter group makes no sense at all. They are a permanent leakage of funds without return..\nRegarding students, there are the undergrads who pay 5X times the Canadian students and they are the shock absorbers for fee burden on Canadian students. This category is precious, especially those studying in reputed colleges. Then there's the student who comes for post graduation studies, doesn't pay as much a undergrad but still a valuable resource. Then there's the diploma students who make studies as an excuse to get into the UberEATS, mcdo kind of Job market. Cap on them may be needed to protect Canadian interests. However the last category comes mainly from one province in India who has political clout in Canada, so it is the hardest to curb. Without making this distinction, if the government is going to lump all categories of students as one, then they are throwing the baby with the bathwater.\nIn any case, the person who gets the best of both worlds is the Chinese-Canadian

As an Indian origin person, I can say those students who have come in the last decade have arrived on dubious grounds. They just ask for education consultants to send them to Canada to anywhere possible, thus they go to substandard colleges and do low demand courses, like global business, culinary skills, pastry making, short bookeeping courses. These lead to nothing in the job market. Plus, they hardly study are working at labour or low end jobs. Then resort to “copying” and boasting about it. These students are well aware of all of this and further exacerbate the immigration issue here.

I have heard many students came here for useless courses and programs and paying hectic colleges fees . Why ??? Just came from a Conestoga College Graduation ceremony. 1000 students. Only 3 were Caucasian. Rest were East Indian. Where exactly is the diversification in that??? That's not racism. That's an observation.

guys chill. i'm indian. there was fever of going to north america during 2000-2018. when in college many students harboured that ambition. now no more. with explosion of internet in india after Jio advent, we see how life is not so glossy in west. ( i love western ppl.) but we dont want to go to those countries who cant decide who is male or female. indian maybe dirty n poor. but 3 decades later, it will be first world country.(whatever the Fck that term means).

One can argue that mass immigration from Europe change aboriginal local culture in Canada and now it is changing again due to recent mass immigration so why is this a problem now? People complaining do not acknowledge that Canada created a corrupt system where educational institution made money from foreign students, foreign student in return were happy as long as they got to work (atleast they are willing to work) for money but the moment money is taken away, they feel cheated. These foreign student are not entitle to a PR card when they knowing came to Canada as a students. In fact, we should look at the root cause of these problems. It is the colleges making money off these immigrants, it is the corporate who do not want to pay decent living wages to Canadians so they are hiring these immigrants at a minimum wages jobs. This is called capitalism where the corporate has to save as much money as possible for their share holders. So yes immigration is a huge problems but immigrant alone are not at fault. Fault lies with the government (federal, provincial and municipal) and the corporate entities in Canada as well.

I do support limiting the amount of these students who can stay in Canada, but at the same time I really feel bad for a lot of these students who were sold a lie from the Liberal government. Most of them from India and just wanting to create a better life for themselves, many of them given these false promises by these Canadian schools who sold desperate people on these worthless courses or programs where the market is brutally over saturated. I completely understand these students feeling like they have been exploited by our garbage and extremely unethical Government and College and University system.
