as someone who grew up in BC canada, I can give many more vital reasons its absolutely awful here. \n\n1) Poor health care: everyone thinks Canada is so great for free health care. Be ready to wait up to 12 hours in hospitals to be seen for 5 mins. Also, my aunt passed away from waiting on breast cancer surgery in BC.\n\n2) Poor infrastructure: Roads here have been the same since 1960s, but now we have millions more people. Rush hour traffic is insanity in vancouver and toronto.\n\n3) Inefficient roadwork: Road construction can take up to 10 years, they close the road and leave it, I rarely seen people work on it and it causes far more traffic\n\n4) government promotes laziness: My friend who is a doctor works 2 days a week, why? because why would he work more at far lower pay? it all goes to taxes anyways\n\nI can give many more reasons but this is getting too long

Someone above asked why so much Indians. you see indian student's out there - yes they had to pay 20K-40000CAD FEES to colleges + now a days 20,600 CAD GIC to Banks in Canada. \nEach in total spends 40-80k cad. \n\nAnd every day from the tim cup , pizza/ burger to food delivery you see indian. Student/ work permit holders/ pr they work up to built our canada. \nTalk about health care ( Doctors,nurses,psw,dentist) Transportation, \nhard- cheap labour,\n IT projects, Constructions, mechanics....name it you have INDIAN playing a major role. \n\nHow did canada expanded and devolped so well ? You should look into how many ppl here on student visas or who have come in and claimed refugee status-ars in our shelters, and worse, taking spots in womens safe shelters from women fleeing abuse/violence. How is it someone here on a student Visa has zero resources to take care of themselves???

The crazy thing is that some Canadians still have faith in Trudeau's party or just have too much trust in the government that they can turn this around. I want to see this country prosper but every few months I just keep on seeing new policies that the current government makes that just doesn't make sense.\n\nFew things to mention\n- No more investment in more roads by the federal government (I understand they want essentially to have citizens use cars less but they haven't provided a plan on how that money would be invested? I have yet to see trains being invested to connect cities such as High speed rail?)\n- Increased carbon taxes (most premiers were against this but they negged it on)\n- proposal and voting for Increasing taxes on capital gains (impact business that invest in Canada)\n- This is a positive thing but also happened because they polls went to the dump (increased investment in housing) and then decrease foreign student admission for future years ( I think this is where liberals say they have hope, but it's at a point where they messed it up and now are trying to fix it to make it look like they are fixing someone else's mess\n- The government is also just adding more policies we can't afford such as Dental plans for certain incomes, food in schools while the free health care doesn't really feel worth the taxes when the quality is not there. ( This is how they want to be the good guys when the conservatives need to cut costs to help resolve this mess)\n\nThe liberals are kind of like that guy in the family that takes a loan, pockets some money for corruption, then gives money away to charities saying I'm the good guy, and then doesn't know how to pay the loan back so asks for their family to help fund the debt.

Why aren’t the rich Muslim nations putting their money where their mouth is. Palestinians have been monetarily supported for 50 years by mostly US & German money…the west would gladly leave the area if someone else would put money n troops as peacekeepers, but they never will. Egypt will continue the blockade as they have always done. Unfortunately, no one in the Arab world ACTUALLY cares, money is the proof(Saudis spend the most on Palestine and it’s minuscule)

As someone that lives an hour outside of Toronto it honestly disgusts me and angers me to see how many immigrants and “new Canadians” are living a better and more prosperous life then the actual people who work their asses off and contribute to society. Keep them out, kick them out and give back to your people the Canadians who deserve it and work for it not someone who got flown over on a plane or shipped over on a boat . Multi cultural is an oxymoron (impossible to exist)… multi = many and culture = one shared system. The word was made up to attract immigration under false pretences. Canada is a multi ethnic country but should never allow pressure from outside to take away its best values - Canadian Values. When you enter someones home you follow their rules. The problem was the leader of this house was weak and couldn’t take care of the house. Take care of the best in your house, don’t forsake the best of human stewardship and stand for your best… Canadians will lend a hand if your knee weakens.

These people from India don't give a shit. they blast their own language they talk in their own language and don't care at all about integrating into Canadian culture English or French. It's even worse having to work beside them in any dangerous environment. you'll notice right away that your life is on the line. Our safety values do not align. I was born in Canada and every job I've had taught me a lot about safety. Then they hire someone new to Canada and give them one safety training course and then I'm working beside them putting my life on the line every single day. This lack of access to health care is a new thing. I agree with your assessment. It now seems lonelier in Toronto. \n\nCanada used to be different because anyone with a good job could afford at least a condo, but life became unaffordable not just for immigrants, but for everyone unless you are in your 50s-60s and own a home. \n\nI have friends working double jobs supporting family back home in other countries, but for some of them the family back home sound like they are doing better than them and own a home. It’s like they are sacrificing their life to be in poverty or full of hardships and their families get to go out for dinners and drinks with friends. Not them. Not true for everyone, but for some yes and I worry about their own retirement because retirement in Canada without lots of savings means you might be homeless or forced to live with family even if it’s not your preference. \n\n without investments and savings, it will be hard to beat inflation. Getting into debt and getting bad credit can mean not getting an apartment. \n\nThe birth rate is going down because it is expensive to have kids and income isn’t enough to match with living costs. Getting help from government is really not something everyone gets access too. One person might get housing support, 10 others may get nothing. Different governments offer different things. Programs end and change often. \n\nIn Canada definitely bargain and shop around for good phone plans. one idea is to get a pay as you go until “Black Friday” then every year or two when your good offer expires there will be many others. It’s the time with the best deals saving almost half. For instance, I have 50 gigs for $25 for two years from a large provider. Telephone companies are the one place where people must bargain and even ask for better deals as a must.\n\nThe people you see living in big houses, will have kids that can’t afford the same. This is because prices keep rising. The system protects the very rich, but will also drain the middle class often within 1-2 generations. Do not link your business to your personal finance, or creditors can take your home. Some not knowing this lose everything and rich people know better. \n\nPeople live until they are very old, so inheritance is pretty much meaningless to rely on, so no matter what your parents have you must hustle in life. \n\nI do think Canada can become what we want over time. Citizens need to fight the trend of great community spaces, restaurants and bars going out of business and dumb corporations move in with bad boring restaurants. Like a McDonald’s where maybe a popular cultural hang out was. \n\nPart of the problem is a lack of mixed income housing areas, so it’s hard to stay living where you grew up. Artists and musicians help make a city great, but many cannot afford to live here.\n\nFamilies and communities staying together means more support for those with young kids and older relatives when they need help. Yet how is this possible in a city that is always pushing out lower income people when wealthier people desire the area. \n\nIn Toronto, every time you move you have to take what is available and that might mean moving an hour away from everyone you know. This weakens communities. Plus, if you live too far from your work you will have no time to socialize for most the week due to travel time. \n\nI think those who grew up in Toronto do have a certain culture of acceptance with others from many cultures, because your friends at school were from all over. But with new migrants sometimes it isn’t until the second generation that their social circles get diverse. This can be isolating and it’s even isolating as those from Toronto eventually leave dreaming of staying in one spot and not forced to move constantly when a landlord investor sells every house you move into. \n\n\nToronto really needs to protect affordability of housing for at least some housing in every section so that people can save money if they live in the city, and not have to leave their communities and be far from their friends and family. \n\notherwise eventually people get sick of the hustle and it’s too tiring to travel 1+ hrs each way to visit someone during Monday to Friday. \n\n20 years ago any professional could at least buy a condo. Not today. There is too much competition now and investors are allowed to buy up all the most affordable housing that once was a pathway to owning a home. \n\nRich policy makers got greedy and destroyed canada and hopefully diversity in leadership will help make Canada better. But they perhaps people knew to Canada can reject this lonely structure and help us rebuild Toronto into an amazing place. \n\nWe need to make sure everyone can afford housing with 30% of their income. I’m muslim arab alhamudlilah but this is wrong, my opinion is sharia is the best law to be applied it doesn’t care about your feelings it cares about getting people in line, and one of the rules of sharia is respecting the laws of the people of the land you live in which these guys are apparently not following, yes there’s hypocrisy in London when they give Jews their own police and hospitals and appliance of their Jewish law but the Jews have won by grabbing every powerful persons balls in the west so they can do whatever they want unlike you being who thinks being loud is gonna get you what you want. and for westerners who are angry in the comment section about their laws being changed I say you know what it feels like now for someone else to lecture you about laws and how wrong they are, so now so stop lecturing the Middle East about changing they’re laws to something that suits your western criteria.

Ultimately, the blame should be directed at the insatiable greed of capitalists who don't care that people are homeless, as long as they find someone who'll pay their ridiculous rental rates. Also: realtors have to take some blame, too, as they intentionally bring about bidding wars to make a house worth $50,000 sell for $2,000,000.

I have lived here all my ljfe and I have to say I hate it here now.Rents prices are very high , so much garbage around , alot of traffic and accidents on the 102. .No parking downtown unless you have an app.. I took a bus downtown to the waterfront for the first time in years and I was shocked to see the waste I of money spent on a stairway to What?? . SOMEONE told me there was an elevator at the top .Our health care system is broken .people living in tents .No low rental housing has been built in years.

I was born and raised here. I am doing my exit plan as I cannot afford to live here as young-adult living on my own. The government knew exactly what they were doing when they allowed 9 million people to come here in a short amount of time. How can you provide billions for foreign aid but can't provide basic necessities to your own citizens? I have cut EVERYTHING extra out of my life and even while working a full-time job I cannot survive in my own country. Canada is a country for the elite, cliche style immigrants, and for the ultra wealthy who pass down intergeneration wealth. A failed health care system that provides little to no services at which you pay out of pocket to get access with private health care providers. You can't depend on transit as it is the mercy of the corrupt transportation/commissioners aka unions and the cost of gas is out of this world. I AM SO LUCKY I went to university and graduated when I did because the same degree would have cost 15k-20k more...food is super expensive...renting an apartment is seen as a form of luxury....you have to know someone to get basic things done. What a shameful society...a society that treats immigrants with upmost respect only to turn around looking the other way when it comes to homelessness...the housing crises...lack of employment oppts, gosh I can go on. My brother was lucky enough to move to Dubai and cash in on his savings by investing it into his properties where he pays 0 tax on his salary from his job.

You have to see what happened around the world,without going too far , the USA have a big problem with homelessness, 100 times more than Canada , obviously Canada is only 10% of the American population, our system in the hospital are treated in accordance to the grade of injuries the more severe are look after before your broken arm, over someone hurt in a car accident , so the attention goes to the more serious issues, but still you get care regardless how long you been waiting , unlike the USA sent you home if you don’t have health insurance,credit card , or cash to look after your problem , they will direct you to the emergency were you can wait for hours behind dozens of people waiting to see a doctor, some people had died waiting to see a doctor, our system is not perfect but nobody will let you died because you have no insurance ,money , or credit card , \nWhy people are leaving the country , is because the cost of living has skyrocketing to the point of no return , if you can only work to pay your rent and eat poorly, but with no possibility to save for the future it’s a wasting time to stick around ,and the people coming to Canada will find our system is not perfect and the image of Canada is tannish , but only people with highly educated will find they pathway to a high standards of living if you can make over 90.000 dollars and 180.000 for working couples in high demand

No surprise there, \n\nCanada is NOT attractive to migrants anymore due to multiple reasons.\n\nSoon a 1 bedroom apartment will probably cost 5000$/month for rent in the Major Cities making it impossible to settle here for newcomers.\n\nThe healthcare system has serious problems due to a lack of Doctors and Nurses who left for better paying jobs in US or Europe.\n\nIf you need immediate Specialist care you will probably have to pay hundreds of dollars just to see someone in the Private sector because the Public Health System has huge waiting lists and is understaffed.\n\nYou won’t be able to get a Government Family Doctor because the remaining ones have thousands of patients already so they’re swamped.\n\nYou can wait even 10 years for a Family Doctor and still won’t get one.\n\nYou can’t be bumped up on waiting lists for Doctors or Specialists even if you are in a critical condition because you aren’t a Celebrity / Politician / Millionaire.\n\nOnly those with a lot of money, status, power get immediate medical attention in case of an emergency.\n\nMost of the traditional medical costs like and eye exam, treating an ingrown toe nail, Physiatrie treatment are NOT covered by the Provinces anymore so you will have to pay out of pocket hundreds of dollars again.\n\nSome Provinces are already copying the US healthcare system which is 100% Private and for profit so don’t be surprised if you you’re gonna have to pay even for an infusion.\n\nThe minimum wage is only 15$/hour in most provinces when in reality you need at least 40$/hour to survive the ridiculous cost of living.\n\nYour typical salary will go 45% to taxes and 45% to rent leaving almost nothing for food / bills / gas / insurance etc. \n\nYou will struggle to make ends meet and possibly starve a week or two every month just to say that you’re “Canadian” \n\nThat is the sad reality but Canada is in a deep hole right now.\n\nUK is in a similar situation too.

Finally someone is talking bout this. Something needs to be done. Close the doors to Canada until we can take care of Canadians who were born here.

Yes, as much as most people don't want to admit it, we don't have the housing or resources to take in so many. And not just students but our immigration levels are off the charts in all areas.\n\nI have no issue with someone wanting to come here hoping for a better life, but thats not a legal right that we have n obligation for. Same as you wouldn't open your door and invite anyone in the city to come on in.\n\nWe have to think about this from a practical level because our unrestricted immigration is causing a crisis in many areas, housing, health care and so on.

That is why we have noise bylaws here in Canada, we don't want cars etc. honking horns constantly like in some countries. Same with loud speakers. I find church bells and someone on a motorcycle or a firetruck, while i'm trying to sleep at night bad enough. We had an ice cream truck here in eastern Ontario not allowed to play their music due to a complaint, which i think is overboard. But there is a reason for noise bylaws. Like i'm not allowed to blast Rock Music in my yard or apartment, i'd have the police show up due to a noise complaint. Its the canadians that are leaving and for every 1 canadian that leaves, there will be 50 peopllw from hing kong with unlimited amount of dirty money to take their place and thats all that canadian gov cares about. There are 100s of people applying to any place that becones availble for rent here in vancouver. Its only a dream that people leave but whats the point when theyre just replaced with someone whos gonna make life even more unaffortable

I live in NYC, and have been to Canada at least four times, but the last time I was there was quite some time ago. I always had a good thought about Canada, because it seems like some of the problems we have in this city, Canada also has in some way. Right now the city is a complete mess; at post pandemic and with a bit of a recession and a noticeable increase in groceries to basic things like cat food and tissues. That's not the biggest problem, it really is the legislation or lack of for people who not care for themselves. Those homeless people are almost not helpable and I don't feel threatened by them, but other people definitely do. The way the government has handled these undocumented migrants is a complete disaster and couldn't have come at a worse time. We have a serious housing crisis as well, and people can end up paying for high rent, for not the best places, but they want to live in a certain location. The migrants are coming in at about 60k in the last two weeks. You see mothers with little kids or babies selling candy all over the trains and it's becoming too much. Many see it as a form of child abuse or exploitation and we do not respect it at all. I think they feel we are weak and will just pay double for something we don't need. At one station today I must have be approached 3 times and interrupted 2 times while using my phone. It's just too much and we already have a lot of immigrants here, so I'm not sure where these people believe they will find any meaningful employment and the cold is coming. I wasn't born here, but came legally as an infant. I think the border situation is a disaster and it's obvious to a lot of people that the government lets things happen that will definitely effect citizens in the next couple of decades. The city is crowded enough and I do not know where this is all going, people do not want undocumented migrants house a few hundred feet from a childrens school. I just don't understand how they let this happen....I guess this is how Biden does things and all the groups that cheered buses pulling in when it first started are dwindling down....they just want them passed on to someone elses responsibility, but wouldn't want them as neighborhors necessarily. It's a lot of hypocrisy here. Canada seems better in some places, and the same in others.

Born and bred Canadian here, I just wanted to weigh in on the hospital issues spoken of @ 9:20. \n\nA HUGE contributor to this problem is one that everyone seems to be afraid of addressing; immigration. \nThose of us who have lived here and paid taxes all our working lives to contribute to the health care system are the ones who should be getting the best use of it. \nMake no mistakes here, if someone moves here and works to contribute to the hospital funding, that’s fantastic and I hold absolutely nothing against them using the system they contribute to. \n\nThe problem I have is when they bring their elder family who will never, and have never, contributed to this system. Nice video. If you are moving to any western /developed country, you need to be able to do things by yourself. If you are someone who prefers domestic helps, cook etc. Then believe me, these countries are not for you. The key is to understand what is priority for you in life. If it is cleanliness, safety, good infrastructure, health care, children education and their future, then go for it. If you are the lazy kinds who prefers luxury and rely on others to do daily household chores, very attached to friends, relatives, enjoy going out and eating in Indian restaurants, not ready to be patient and willing to slog for the initial few years then any of these developed countries is not for you. Entirely depends on what are your priorities in life are.\nAgain these countries are good for the tradies - electricians, mechanics, plumbers etc. These guys can make a fortune here. So, for all those tradies whose priority is to earn money, yes these countries are good for you.

Like you, I know someone happy with their job, location, medical care and opportunities, but they are also very uncomfortable with the political situation - I'll just say it - Republicans. You need only look at Trump and its followers. Guns over lives (including kids), billionaires over poor, religion over others' freedoms (gay/trans/abortion, etc), mass spread of misinformation (Fox news, OAN, etc) and a personal selfishness and anger which was made very clear during COVID times. It makes them feel like they are walking on eggshells, at least compared to Canada where they lived before and people would look out for each other more (even if they didn't know them). They like the weather, job, opportunities, the USD buying power, and their friends, among many other things, but it just feels excessively risky to them dealing with the combinations of these things. I can completely understand why they and others might want to leave the US.

There should be a two tiered health care system. Anyone who’s not a Canadian born citizen should be behind someone who is and who pays their taxes and actually pays for the medical system. I don’t know how many times I’ve sat in waiting rooms and not heard one word of English. They’re clearly fresh off the boat and clogging up the system. Have they paid Canadian taxes?? It’s a disgrace, i liken it to being overrun by locusts. If you’re not paying taxes here you should have to pay for your own medical treatment. I find the misinformation when comparing our ( Canadian) heath care system to yours is is huge. Firstly there is NO copay-NONE for anything. Secondly there is NO limit on cost of surgery or treatments-NONE. Sometimes there are new drugs that are very expensive and not yet covered but that is it. I have lived in the US for the winter for he past 13 years and the concept of no copay with our system just seems to be beyond their grasp. For the life of me I cannot understand why the US citizens do not want universal health care like ALL of the rest of the developed nations of the world. When someone says they have health care in the US that all comes with possibly thousands in copay fees.

It's just simple facts like our children doesn't need body armor in schools or having police instead of officers or health care if I break my toe it won't cost me 50k or being kind open the door for someone and finally education ! we lived in the USA for 14 years and actually because citizens before we moved back to Canada, and to this day, maintain dual citizenship. The health care was the biggest difference. Fighting with health care providers to get them to pay their portion of a bill was the WORST. They automatically turn down every claim the first time around so you have to get on the phone and fight with them. In the USA, you can only see doctors within your health care provider, or you have to pay full on to see someone outside it. You also have to pay to see your family doctor even if its for a annual check up. NONE of that happens in Canada. Health care in Canada is provided by the government. Health care in America is a BUSINESS, and they are all fighting for your $$. Being self employed in the USA was an eye opener, with a $1100. a month premium, so that we had a reduced annual deductible. No deductible or monthly premiums in Canada. Americans should NOT HAVE TO DECLARE BANKRUPTCY just because they get sick. Otherwise, we loved living there. Great people, awesome Mexican food (you can't get that in Canada), beautiful beaches and excellent access to them. Amazing highway systems,. At the time we lived there, housing was affordable, food and clothing were cheaper than Canada. None of that is true these days. You guys pay as much as we do for food and shelter.

In my opinion if you move to Canada without taking the proper steps and expect everything to work out for you then you are very naive and cannot complain. First off a lot of Kenyans are applying for visitor visas instead of work visas which are harder to get and thinking once they are in Canada they can look for work. You are not allowed to work on a visitor visa and most employers will not even consider your applications if you do not have either a work permit, refugee status, or permanent residency/ citizenship. Work experience is also very important here and many employers will not consider someone even with canadian education that has no experience. Another thing is Canadian benefits such as subsidized health care etc is only available to people that are on long term work permits with no conditions, refugees, and permanent residency holders and government housing is only open to refugees and permanent residency holders/ citizens. So in short if you move there without a plan, the correct papers, and the willingness to work even lower income jobs until you get Canadian work experience and expect the government to help you just because you landed then you are sorely mistaken and will very easily end up on the streets. Another thing is just because you are granted refugee status does not guarantee you a home as we have seen, the government housing waitlist is very long and even Canadian citizens that cannot afford their rent end up on the streets because there are too many people applying for housing. So please do not think just because you were allowed to stay as a refugee life will be sweet. \nHowever if you do your research and take the right steps so you are fully prepared, put in the time and effort even though things may not be happening immediately then you can have a success story.
