In case anyone is wondering why so many Indians are trying to flee Canada here it is. Under Trudeau and the liberal government Canada was basically giving a free pass to anyone who wants to come to Canada through colleges and universities, if you get into a Canadian school, you can get a study permit (which also allows you to work for 20h a week). Additionally after the schooling you are given a guaranteed work permit for the same duration as the schooling (if you went to school 2 years you get a 2 year permit, 4 years you get a 4 year permit, ect.) A Canada and immigration agencies (for some reason) basically advertised this to India as a guaranteed way to get permanent residence in Canada. Canadians hated the massive flood of people coming into Canada (about a million a year at its peak, which for a smaller country like canada is equivalent to 10 million people coming into the USA every year). This is really unpopular with voters of course (in part because of the housing, food, and low skill work shortages it created), and the next Canadian election is this year. So the conservative government has vowed to massivly decrease the number of immigrants coming into Canada and the Liberal government knowing that this can be used against them in the next election is decreasing the amount of PR cards they are given (like a Canadian green card) as well as the people they are letting in in total. Now as the (mostly Indian) immigrants work permits expire and they will soon be kicked out of the country or no longer legally be allowed to work, they are fleeing to NYC to try to take advantage of the sanctuary city (something that does not exist in Canada).

How. How? Last time i went to the Canadian border, they check passports coming in. Is no one on our side checking them coming the other way? Doesn't canada check passports etc when you FLY IN to canada? Thought i heard they wouldn't let you enter canada without the covid vax... ? but if you're on the watch list you can still enter?

I went to New York in like 2017, flew to Canada on a ETIAS VISA, and traveled there for a while, then crossed the border by foot on the Rainbow Bridge (Niagara Falls), and took a Greyhound from Buffalo to New York. Of course we had to pay for our AirBnB and hotel ;(\nBut then it was all LEGALLY, so it makes sense that you don't pay have to pay anything when it's ILLEGAL.\nIt would be rather silly to be doing things ILLEGALLY and then having to pay for things, DUHH.\nTry to explain that to someone!

I find that hard to believe. I went to Niagara Falls going into Canada with no problem coming out of Canada was ridiculous. There was some border guard there, he thought he was special forces, the way he was dressed. It was ridiculous.

We went to Toronto 2 years ago and it felt like heaven ! I had no idea that Canada was going through hard times (I don’t watch the news !) When I watched the first minutes of your video I was about to tell you « well, same here in France »… but I have to say that the pictures of people on drugs are shocking ! It doesn't just happen in Canada, US, UK, Aus but also welcoming countries like Thailand, UAE.\n2) Indian Visa (to visit India) itself is one of the most expensive and complicated to get for foreigners, so other countries have no incentive to make it easier for Indian citizens.\n3) Developed countries know that if they make it 'easier' for Indians to travel to their country, they will end up with tens of thousands who wont want to go back to India. It is already the case when its difficult to get a visa, imagine the situation if its made easier.\n4) Most of the Indian tourists fall under the mass category, they are not like the heavy spending Chinese tourists. We are not the most well behaved, so till we start getting more affluent, we wont be in as much demand.

We went to leave Canada too and both my husband and I were born and raised in Canada. We even moved from southern Ontario to Saskatchewan to Alberta. It is so unsustainable and sad to see that the government doesn’t care about their citizens. I never voted liberal but regardless of that, it shouldn’t be this hard and I don’t see it getting better - only worse.

I sympathize and relate to this situation so much. I will always love my home and native land, but I don’t miss the struggle of living there. I had a good job, but everything I made went to the cost of living and I had very little left over to do anything worthwhile. One time, I went on 1 day business trip to Canada ( i have American Citizenship, but born in Europe). Good Lord, I was asked so many ridiculous questions, and most were related to my former old country!!! Absolutely total idiotic nonsense!! We emigrated from Europe as a family to Canada 12 years ago. I felt cheated. Nothing in Canada was better than the country we came from, in fact it was much worse. It completely disrupted our lives. I got a very strong and uncontrollable feeling that Canada would turn out very badly for our family. After a year we went back to our own country and since then we have been doing very well again. It was a great adventure in which our dreams were shattered. I could write a book about it.

As an Indian, I am aware of the many scams people are involved in just to stay in Canada. One of my acquaintances went to Canada with their family on an Express Entry PR. They are working full-time for cash while also claiming unemployment benefits from the Canadian government. I wonder what action the Canadian government would take against such scams.
