Trump is just trying to take over Canada without actually going to war

Mr. Tiptoe can shove it. Trump didn't start this trade war, Canada has been tariffing USA for decades. The whole world does... Starving out the one country that actually has freedom. Freedom to kick out government when it becomes corrupt and against the people. The western side of Canada is more than welcome to stop subsidizing the east, and pay like half the taxes. Instead of stars we will throw a couple maple leafs on it and call it a day.... In the interest of international security.

As a Canadian myself,,, I am more than desepointed about all of this… Because to me, The United States Of America,,, they were the perfect example of what it was to be a true hero! But now,,, because of one person,,, it has turned to a True Dictatorship… And,,, as Canadians,,, we must be hopeful that America will be once again this Really great Country of Brotherhood and also, it will become once again this Land Of Peace And Prosperity that we desperately need right now! Because I am positive,,, still positive that we will be together once again; just like we have been for a very long long time!!! I am Very Hopeful!!! Yes, it will be very hard for both of us and that includes for Mexico as well, but,,, we will win together and,,, just like we did with Hitler, we will stop this Dictatorship from conquering this world. The educated and thinking American people ( who are the majority of voters and unfortunately 1/3 did not vote) know that Donald Trump has lied to us. We understand that Canada has no fault and no role in contriving this trade war. We also know that the Fentanyl problem has little or nothing to do with Canada and that the majority of Fentanyl is brought into the USA by US citizens. Most American citizens do not want this. Donald Trump and is an opportunist. He does not care about the American people . He cares about himself and his money.

Dustbin Turdeau made false allegations on India a few months ago, to polish its domestic politics. It was trying to appease terrorist head lords to gather their support. It allows terrorists in its country and then blames India for a gang war which occurs in its own country. It has destroyed India-Canada relations for its own political goals. Shame on you Dustbin Trudeau.

This is not anti-American, it is just fighting back from an unnecessary trade war. It does however break my heart because many Canadians have family on the U.S. side. I know it would also break my father’s heart as he grew up in New England and had a lifetime affection for the U.S. I despise politics and have not been a proud Canadian for a few years but I have to admit that this speech is getting me going again. Canada needs to get its act together and rebuild its military, not to fend off the U.S. but to hold its own should other countries decide we are ripe for the picking. I want U.S.-Canada relations to be tight again. We’re neighbor. We will have our disagreements and that’s fine but these trade wars will hurt everyone and, if it lasts, may leave lasting grievances.

I think something just clicked.... we know that trump is egotistical and he wants the credit for things he didn't do, twist stories to his benefit. With that said. I’m a 53 year old Canadian. I went to college on an athletic scholarship & lived there for 10 years after turned professional in my sport. Why, why, why - with all the problems going on in the world right now to tackle - why would you want to start a trade war with your closest trading partner & most loyal ally? Not to mention that your list of Allies is shrinking daily. This is not going to end well for either of us. \nI just arrived home from a trip to the grocery store - making sure nothing in my cart said “ made in the USA” on it due to the new tariffs that began today. \nThe irony is, many of the states where Trump won by the biggest margin, are the states that are going to get hit the hardest from Canadian retaliation tariffs ( Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Indiana, the Dakotas - just to name a few). A lot of farmers in those states are going to be hit extremely hard with the fertilizer tax. After Canada, the next 3 largest Potash producers are Russia, Belarus & China. So , good luck \nWhen the cost of fruit & vegetables skyrocket across the US. Maybe you’ll put a little more thought into your vote 4 years from now.

There’s a majority of Americans who are right there with you Canada. Sorry our president has single-handedly undermined the war in Ukraine, created civil insurgency, tarnished relationships with its closest allies, and created divide that can be heard around the world.

I'm a Canadian. I am trying to wrap my head around why a President would start a trade war by imposing tariffs that hurt their allies and hurt his own people..!? I am not an economist nor an investor; However I found it interesting that the immediate result of this as they corresponded about this news is how the markets are taking a major dive. If I wanted to make money off the stock market and had no morals and had the power to cause it to crash, I would make sure it crashed hard by imposing tariffs. Then I would invest as many billions in the key stocks that will come back, and watch my billions turn into 10's or 100's of billions...\nThe other possible explanation could simply be that he wants all the critical minerals from Canada, Greenland, Ukraine for nothing. Taking those minerals for free and selling electric cars, miliatary equipment, etc. would be most profitable!\nBut greed seems to know no bounds for those who are wealthy, as long as it's at their gain and not at their expense!

Every country should be responsible for their own goods. The day we start relying on other countries for what we need we're in a heck of a mess. Because China couldn't get our merchandise to our plant we had to shut down for almost a month. We messed up sending some of our work to China. After this we got everything in the US. Cheaper prices are not the solution. Cheaper labor is not the answer. Trump is concerned about the drugs coming into our country and since the borders are affected these drugs will be coming into our country many other ways. Well said. I love the USA, I have relatives who live there and in all the years of a beautiful relationship with the people of America I have never seen this situation. Mr. Trump you seem to want to conquer and divide relationships at any cost, even with people who care about you. You sabotage yourself and those who are loyal to you.
