Trudeau is a clown. This is a guy who thwarts free speech and jailed his own people and took their money away during peaceful protests. Canada has enjoyed a a trade surplus against us forever. They also do not have to pay for military since they are right next to us. They should be doing whatever we want. Canada was sending recyclable trash to the Philippines. When the trash arrived it was not recyclable. Philippine president said stop sending but Canada continued to send it. So finally he said if you send one more ship, we will declare no war on you. And if that happened, without US help, even the Philippines would destroy Canada in a war. Way more fighting aged males and Canada has a worthless military. Canada has a GDP of 5-10% of US. So Trudeau acting tough is hilarious. Like a chihuahua barking at a grisly bear. If push came to shove, in the time of US war need, the US would simply take whatever it wanted from Canada. That's what happens when you don't develop your own substantial military-just like Europe now.

What Trump is doing is collecting money from these tariffs, while at the same time bringing certain industries back to the United States. These tariffs will not be permanent but will remain for a certain period to encourage companies to relocate. He runs his country like a business, he doesn’t care if there are job losses elsewhere.\n\nCanada and Mexico will have to adjust and start becoming less dependent on the United States. It will be difficult for Canada because we are a consumer country, we manufacture almost nothing. TSMC is moving to the U.S., his plan is working, and other companies will follow.\n\nHere in Canada, we import a huge amount of American products. We absolutely need to change our habits, we should not support a country that wants to see us fail.

I think we need to give it time. In a year or two picture should be clear. I don't think tariffs are necessary a bad thing long term if they spike more production of everything or at list anything in US. Short term it would be painful for everybody tho. Rom, Spain etc.Sooner or later we wouldn't be able to exchange worthless green paper to goods anymore outside of the country unable to produce anything inside the country and we die. Shame they didn't care about fentanyl when it was killing people off in BC for years before spreading, thousands of people had died. Shame they didn't do anything about the corrupt government that enabled it and the money laundering. Hard to believe they care when so little effort or attention was shown to get the BC government at the time to be accountable. There is a lot of talk on Fentanyl headed south, but no mention by Canada of how much of the drug heads north. I can't be zero. There has to be transit of the drug from the USA into Canada.\n\nBut what I truly don't understand, is that what heads south is not crossing through the Canadian border. All south bound traffic needs to go through US Border patrol agents. So by that measure, how is Canada not doing its job? I've crossed into Canada many times and have been asked to pull over for a search of my vehicle more times than I've been searched on my return to the USA, which was once, my very first crossing in 2002. \n\nMy only guess is the problem isn't fentanyl, that's just a distraction and by design a way to get people believing in something that isn't true and to help further the rift.
