What's that Prime Ministers name? Justin Trudeau? And they vote for him! This breaks my heart. I used to come Toronto often from Detroit when I was a young man. I could take the train, I didn't need a car and it was just wonderful. I would walk the streets at all hours without any concern for my safety. I often stayed at the Towne Inn as it was very cheap, right near Young and Bloor and was of good quality. The prices now are ridiculous. This is sad. Toronto was my favorite city.

UofT was rigorous, to say the least, but she did it in 4 years, unlike some of her peers. She LOVED it, and made many friends, including internationals. They’ve stayed close on FB, and even get together (some flying in from other countries, including the Middle East and Asia) every 2 years or so back in Toronto. This is a very thoughtful and balanced review. As a retired Canadian who had a good job for most of my life, I'm saddened by the decline in almost all areas of life, lifestyle and and people's aspirations in this country. This decline actually seems quite rapid, I would say from 2015 onwards. Housing in major centres was expensive, but it has skyrocketed in the past decade. There has been a decline in many institutions: 1. health-care, especially noticeable since the pandemic that coincided with many boomer medical staff retiring, but also by our sclerotic institutions refusing to enable foreign-trained doctors to work here. Many foreign-trained doctors in the Vancouver area are doing jobs way below their qualifications while many people cannot even get a family doctor. Crazy. Econonically, there seems to have been no plan at all from the government as we exited the pandemic. At least the US had a plan, to 'build back better'. Our government just floats along as if everything is fine, when the decline is very visible especially to older Canadians. We have admitted 1/2 a million people a year from overseas, so our economy should reflect this and show an upswing. But no, we're in a 'technical recession' as of December and probably a real recession as of last week. I have never voted Conservative in my life, but Trudeau is a flaky dimwit with a famous name who has no clue what he is doing. A fool, in fact. He's mismanaged our foreign relations beyond belief, and nothing has improved domestically. When Pierre Poilievre says 'Canada is broken', I believe it. We deserve much better leadership; in Canada's case, the rot does come from the top. Justin the entitled idiot is much more like his mother than his father.\n\nLong rant. Ok....I've lived in Singapore for the last 33 years, graduated from the University of Alberta with an Electrical Engineering degree. Worked 1 year in the arctic in 1989 then was offered a job in Singapore in 1990 and never looked back. There are MASSIVE engineering opportunities in Asia, its nothing like Canada. \nIf you have to deal with the Canadian government from outside the country your quickly realize that Canada is run by....children. Singapore taxes are 1/4 of that in Canada plus there are no capital gains tax in Singapore. Canada about 20 years ago and before that actually use to be a really nice place to live in. However Canadians voted in two disastrous political leaders that have ruined Canada. Stephen Harper and especially Canada has really gone downhill under the disastrous,evil, incompetent leadership of Justin Trudeau. Moral of the story is this. Where ever you are in the world choose your political leaders wisely otherwise if you choose poorly once great place to live in like Canada once was can be turned into a hellhole by terrible political leaders and their underlings..
