I went to both public and private schools in quebec. In public schools there was a huge amount of racism, especially from the French Canadians. Private schools were a lot better.

While others including Blacks do face lots of racism in Canada it is First Nations that face the most by Inuits, Europeans, Metis, Far Easterners, and other Non First Nations

I haven't experienced a lot of racism here though? Idk if it's because I'm asian and not black or if it's just a newer gen :/

Canadians have a lot of prejudice that isn't limited to racism. Productions like CBC are disingenuous with their reporting to push a narrative. The 'test' alone (link above) uses semantics to manipulate responses, thusly results. Also, you can't peg a corporation for the perceived behaviour when following around white minimum wage workers. Attack corporations for the slave labour used to produce the goods you take for granted every day, how about that? Nope, you work for the government who is in bed with corporations. Dishonest journalism at it's finest. EDIT: You just held an experiment submitting double resumes with the same creds for min/wage positions then moved on to professional music auditions with a screen after resumes have been vetted /eyeroll

There are is a lot of racism people in Canada plus they are very hypocrites they give you and smile in front of you, but they could stab you in the back if they have the chance, that's the way they are

US Americans moving into Canada and bringing racism with them? Where did this 'Canada is a happy, respectful and welcoming country' stereotype came from? I've seen a lot of racists videos from this country...Canadians are just like US Americans but in a passive agressive way.

I'm Chinese living in Canada and I don't see a lot of racism in Canada. Maybe other group of ppl are experiencing it I don't know. But as a Chinese person, I don't like political correctness.

Anybody wanna see what real systemic racism looks like, then watch APTN News. The stuff they show on these mainstream news networks is biased and censored. At least on APTN they don't hold anything back, and you might just be surprised how real racism really is in cxnxdx. We are not the shining example of reform that most cxnxdixn citizens think we are; and even if you think you have it all figured out, or you think we're all fighting for the same cause~ then you still have a lot to learn about racism in cxnxdx, Firstnations awareness, ethnic diversity, and how much xenophobia really has a hold on our country. Denial is NOT bliss, and my eyes have been wide opened. I love this country, but there are no rose coloured glasses here.

There is lot of emotion in this piece, but not very much context or fact. Indigenous people suffer from addictions and mental illness more than the rest of Canada due -inter generational trauma, and resulting loss of dignity. While racism exists today, even if we were to eradicate entirely, indigenous people would still need help due to the damage done in the past. The solution is not fomenting more bitterness and resentment. This is not an easy fix and indigenous people need to be part of it. We need to find a solution where they can rediscover their identity, foster healthy norms within their own nation, while also being part of this nation. Look up Durkheim. Defunding the police is an utterly idiotic idea. Police need more training, and hence more funding, to help them do a better job.

I see lots of videos like this and yes i agree that we have racism in Canada just like in every single other country around the world. I also notice that never once in one video have i seen one of these people mentioning the racism that is tough to children not just white children but all children as everyone knows racism is a tough behavior. As every single country has racism that means its a problem for all and for some reason the world only is worried about racism in white peoples instead of attacking this issue as a whole

This issue is very very complex actually. When we even try to define systemic racism the definition itself does not give justice. it also involves a lot of quid pro quos and cronyism. it's a demon which is very hard to exercise from society...like Azazel from 'Fallen'

City really has a lot to with it. I’m a Hispanic in Houston, Texas, one of the most Hispanic places in Texas, and I’ve never really felt uncomfortable or felt like people have any prejudice towards me, but I didn’t know racism was still a thing until I was 19, so I may be super oblivious to these things still

For the shopping experience, they have the guys go in carrying hand bags. That's going to get their attention since shoplifters could easily put things into the bags and most people don't bring computer bags, hand bags etc when they shop.\n\nI've had instances where people were awful to me for no apparent reason (I'm white), and it struck me that if i was black, I would attribute the terrible treatment to racism since I couldn't think of any other reason for the bad treatment. \n\nAnother form of racism not covered here is the racism of low expectations. If people assume that you are too dumb to understand something or too poor to afford something, that's wrong. Same holds true for treating women as if they won't understand. Usually this behavior is done, not by bad people, but by people who just haven't had a lot of interactions with different people of different races. So they haven't had the chance to have those stereotypes personally disproven.

Yes in Canada is a lot of racism, I pay taxes, I live like everybody in this country, but I never receive any money that from government, I did apply many many times

I'm a white older woman who refuses to dress up on my days off from work. I get followed around stores. I am afraid to leave a store for fear of being followed. I always have to show my receipts. I have been yelled at by young males of any background because I refuse to speed while driving. I was called a crazy drunk while crossing a parking lot. People seem to be being raised with very poor manners and a lack of respect for others. There is racism in every race or racial biases in every race. We all need to remember we are all actually the same race. It's called the human race. Remember we are all human beings and deserve to all be treated as such.\nWe are all human beings with plenty to offer each other. A new friendship, a wonderful meal, smiles, wisdom, wonderful stories, knowledge etc. I know I am racially profiled by others as well and wish it just wasn't there. Apparently because I'm white I believe I am first whatever that means. It is so much more comfortable when there are no seams. Love to yall

Real racism is proven in the workplace around here, sadly especially if it’s a high paying job, they feel like you don’t deserve to be there or have that pay grade... envy & extreme haterism...no common sense to just let ppl be and provide for there families in peace lots of circumstantial mental anguish when in such a toxic work setting, then coupled with having enough mental energy left to do your job adequately...smh

Wow I never knew of Canada's prejudices. I encounter a lot of Toronto ppl in NYC that I'm not keen on but their personalities just remind me of folks you encounter on the upper Eastside. I have southern roots (SC and MS) and have grown up in Missouri most my life so I know racism. I would hope it couldn't be worse than that in Canada, as I still do want to visit one day soon.

I find it to be swept under the carpet as far as racism is concerned, they smile in front of you but behind you they Stab you in the back .well the Americans is right up front I can work with you but I won’t socialize with you, at least you’re truthful.\n\n I find Canadians to be very two face , Hidden they true feeling and pretend a lot . Racism goes both ways I’ve been treated very bad because of my pale skin hair and eyes I’ve been called albino by people of colour and I’ve never and would never do that to them growing up in the uk in an area with a high Muslim community being beaten up at school ,there where places white girls just didn’t go I hated the way I looked I started to dye my hair black I wore baggy clothes and lots of layers but I couldn’t change my eyes I would alway walk with my head down so I know what it’s like to be treated differently because of colour

While racism is real, there are certain people from some religious dicatorships in Canada spying on the free people of this country and making people uncomfortable too. there are those who want to push their beliefs on all Canadians and there has to be a balance in terms of acceptance and inclusiveness. I find many times people also play the race or discrimination card to push their beliefs and ways of life on others while I have heard them for example swear at and judge Canadians for example who don't cover up their hair or wear mini skirts......that is also discrimination and judgement and is also 100% wrong, even though they may be doing it quietly or in their own language. There is sometimes (besides obvious cases of racism of course) that there are 2 sides to the story! People that come to Canada also need to respect its values of respect for all, not just ask for it for themselves. While a lot of wonderful people come here and have the utmost respect for Canada that is NOT the case with those pushing their beliefs and particularly religious views on the rest of Canadians making them feel like outsiders I have heard many stories about.

This is a great video it's hard being a person of colour in even today's world. There is a lot of passive aggressive racism in the form of discrimination on a big scale. The thing about race is you can't really talk to white people about racism because they don't really experience it. I would like to see a social experiment to where white people go into predominantly minority areas and see how they get treated.

Water is wet. Majority white countries have lots of discrimination and racism. Not to mention endless profiling. The irony is that North America specifically was meant to be a place for all kinds of people. A safe haven for those fleeing religious and ethnic persecution in Europe.

I think subtle racism is actually a very practical type of stereotyping and it didn't just got created out of air, there is a big chunk of that specific race (be it any race according to the stereotype) who actually prove the stereotype to be right. I am from india, living in Canada and if some house owner would prefer a white guy over me to rent their house, I would not blame him since a lot of people don't like the smell of spices that we cook all the time.\n\nAs far as stereotyping is sublet and not rude or hurting, I don't think it's actually so much of racism rather then preference.\n\nI just want to make it clear though that I do support racism, whatever is happening in US and a lot of other countries which is violent is a very horrible thing. These are the type of videos that white people need to watch because a lot of them don't even believe black people and other non-whites experience racism and discrimination as much as we say or even at all.

It’s all on where you live and who you live around. There are like 7 black families in our town. There are no black folks to harass. The police and shop owners harass white people. They profile you on what you wear. What condition vehicle you drive or the way you look. In areas with lots of black folks they follow and harass black folks. \n\nI’m not saying it doesn’t exist. What I’m saying is it’s not everywhere like these videos make it out to be. Most of the time it has nothing to do with racism.

Racism has always been in Canada, dont be fooled. It may not be as prevalent as in other countries but racism is in fact here in Canada, I grew up here, Im a black born Canadian and dealt with it all my life. Mostly just taunting and name calling but one thing is certain, wherever you find white people you will find a lot of ignorance and even the good ones seem to always be a step or 2 away from a racist rant when they agitated. As long as they don't get violent with non whites then I guess we can deal with the slander and name calling. As a person with a darker hue, you will always be looked at like you are an Alien to them.

Don't ever ask a white person if there is racism in their town, city, country, why? Because they are not targeted so how would they know? I used to trip on people watching me when I was in stores, however today @ 53 I don't care, all I ever say is if they ever grab me then I will take action, until then I'll shop till I drop! The racism that goes on in the workplace as well as rentals will probably never end because some white people just don't want(minorities)around, and since there is no law on the books that says they have to then it will never change. The late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said that the Government could never make a law to govern the hearts of men, maybe it's because King knew back then that even though the majority of us might want change, there are still a lot of people who would not change simply because they don't know anything else, so anything short of an act of GOD they probably still would never make them change, because you can't force people to obey a law that in their hearts they feel is wrong!!!

My son, who is white, was stopped by police TWICE in our neighborhood, once while driving, and once while walking at night. I grew up in Brampton in the 90s. Sure, it's become a lot more crowded. But still I love it here. The people are nice and I get to experience so many cultures. I've even had free lunch many times at the Sikh temples here. For people hating Brampton and saying USA is better, have you ever been to The Bronx NY or Newark NJ? They look like third world countries and you can't go out at night. I don't see any reason for hating Brampton other than racism.
