He is our Indian brother from the Sikh community. Kirpan is one of the 6 essentials that every Sikh must carry in Sikhism - Dastaar (turban), Kada (steel bracelet), Kesh (uncut hair), Kangha (wooden comb), Kachcha (cotton underwear) and Kirpan (steel sword). He was wearing a turban. And if they still can't recognize a person from Sikh community from actual troublemakers and terrorists, then it's deplorable. That kirpan is for self defence and for protecting others it's not for attacking others. In future they might even have problems with turban and kada. I want to ask any Hindu/Sikh living in Canada/US does they have any problem regarding kada in airport and in public places.

Remembered in the early 90’s working at one of the Big 8 accounting firms and interviewing a fella who had a turban and we talked about everything from work to Ice Hockey. Thought he was a good fit and went back to sit with the team (all White) and atmosphere was very clear, the turban fella was not to be considered. I sat quiet as the lowest on the pecking order. To be fair, we did have other minorities and even a staff with the name Mohammed - but they were far and few in-between. Industry has changed and we now have partners from minority groups (clearly tied to groups and countries that have grown economically). Unfortunately discrimination or prejudices still exist and seems to have made a comeback led by Trump.

Hi I am Christian and in high school I took a cross out of my backpack Christian cross and placed it on to my desk for a moment and I had my teacher come up to me and tell me that I need to put it in my bag because it was offencive to the person sitting next to me as well as putting my necklace that had a cross on it tucked into my shirt the student that was sitting next to me was wearing a turban and the teacher didn't say anything to him and years later my little brother when he was in grade school was told that he was going to get a detention or sent home if he didn't put his Bible away that he was reading on his free time
