I live in Toronto and I am not rich. I am regular person. \nIf you are an immigrant and especially if you are considered from visible minority group aka not white, DO NOT leave Toronto at all ! Work hard and make it work for you. I am sure the majority people from your coutires in Canada are located in Toronto and its close cities. If you chose to live outside this multicultural heaven called Toronto then expect to deal with deep racism. Yes people in Canada are rasicst althogh it is not openly like USA.\nIf you are into education and you want to do your degree, move to Montreal. Tuition fees in Montreal are way more cheaper than in Toronto or other parts of Canada. I lived in Montreal before and I went to university there. Montreal is great for education, aba rent are cheaper than Toronto but not for living there if you are visible immigrant. You will never feel you belong down there. Where as in Toronto, you will feel you belong to it within 30 mins max of you arruval. Toronto's motto are : you belong here and we have been waiting for you.\n62%of people in Toronto weren't born in Canada. You will find your community from your country in Toronto and the people are well established. I have been in different cities in Canada and I always felt stranger, even cities as close as ashawa.\nIn conclusion I would say to the visible minority immigrants stay in Toronto as much as you can for work and if you want to study in university go to Montreal. There are two major English universities in Montreal :Concordia university and McGill university, where McGill is one of top 10 university in the world.\n\nFor you Alina, I understand what you are saying and you can go somewhere in Canada and try it out with no racial or inclusiveness issues. My humble request to all those Indians who are unhappy in Canada, may please leave Canada immediately and return back to India. The fact is this that when you are kicked and rejected in India then you think of shifting to another country. Canada is one of the best country in the world for those who are not scared of working hard. One who works hard progresses fast. This respected lady is used to servants and domestic helps, that one cannot get here. I am here for just 7 years and I am a senior citizen but me & my wife got very good jobs and enjoying life. No one asks about your religion, what you eat what you drink. So all those who like lazy life please stay back in India. Yes if you want to get a good job you have to upgrade your education. Girls alone are safe even at 2am in buses.

I'm a ??can who moved to Europe 22yrs ago through recruitment agency - the employer paid for my professional REGISTRATION with the nursing board, for my work authorisation permit before I even left, sent me a written 2 yr work contract, the flight(return), a taxi pick up from airport & accommodation for 2 the 1st weeks bnb.\n2. I had worked in ?? for 15yrs, 3 diplomas and a post grad degree, I and had bought myself a small property 4yrs into my career on a 60% government subsidy.\n3. I was in a management position for over 7yrs. \n4. Looking back now, the people I went to college with got millions of Rands at age 60 for their retirement pension. \n5. I am waiting to be 65 for a mere €32 000 retirement lump sum and a weekly income of about €400 plus. \n6. I bought myself a small property after renting for 9yrs here, it was not easy to raise funds while paying rent which is HALF YOUR SALARY, but it was worth it. I still have a balance on my bond which my pension lump sum wont even shift\n6. The regrets I have is that:\ni) I missed out on family, friends and christianity quality life, \nii) I spent too much money flying home every yr and sometimes 2 X a yr to keep my sanity and to bond with my family - adult kids and siblings & now grandkids\niii) I could have had a fair and equal opportunities to improve have more accademic and work status in my own country than in a foreign land & my experienced would have been not only recognised when it suits the employer, but it could have been openly VALUED and NURTURED if I was serving in my own country\niv) I could have retired 3 yrs ago and had a paid up bond and a nice retirement car\nThe POSITIVE side is that: \ni) I have a property in a good area that I can rent out for extra income \nii) I have enjoyed travelling around the world and living in A relatively SAFE COUNTRY for over a decade.\niii) I have come to realise that - \na) There's no place like home - we often take for granted, the standards of practice and quality of education and customer service and the advancement in technology both in both education, work and BANKING in our countries untill we travel and live abroad\nb) it is easy to bring your expertise & work ethics abroad and work like and educated slave for a small price\nc) I have come to realise that, Half the time, most of Our stories as a nation are told by someone else, and the world keeps the narrative going.

I live in Canada as a Kenyan and I have been here for sometime .I work as a HR/Payroll Specialist also certified in the field. The problem is not Canada , Canada is a very good county which I love and I am gland God gave me the Opportunity to Come and settle here with my family.. The problem with some people coming here is lacking of knowledge how Canada works .It’s system is very far from how things work in Dubai or Gulf countries. A lot people are thinking than you can just come and get any job even without proper papers or you can earn a lot of money and then build wealth quickly. Which is A BIG FAT LIE. The tax in Canada keeps you humble. That is how Canada funds it's high end life many admire and want to be part of. The more you work in Canada the more tax you pay and many don't know this, and it is one of the main reasons why a lot of people start to regrets, because they realize there effort of working hard is not paying as they hoped. Another thing in Canada is next to impossible to get jobs or rent a place without proper paper work, like work permit, It is not like USA where you can use someone else papers to work. the The main available jobs , easy to get , don’t pay much. And also the cost of living is very high in some provinces like Ontario and BC. They hardly recognize credentials from outside unless you came through a job offer. Also because a lot of things in Canada are paid by the government through taxes, like health care, education. Unless you are tax paper with (and I repeat) Paper work, you cant access the benefit, including thee free food available for the needy. \nMany people forget Canada is looking for people to work for them. Not to grow rich and leave. The system is meant to keep you working. Unless you understand how a system of a country works, one will continue to blame it. Let people get well informed and well educated first , before they jump in the river. And it’s not Canada a lone , but any country in the world. Also a lot of these media post about Canada are misleading. And there is also another trap called debt, a lot of people once they getting working, rush to but things they cant afford and it becomes a stress instead of a blessings.\nIf you want to live well and enjoy Canada . One of the top thing to do is, go back to school once you enter in it, get a good education and you will get a good job. Also give yourself time to adjust. REMEMBER you are starting from square one. You are not continuing where you left in Kenya or in the country you get from. Also, the general social climate is not as friendly as those in USA for example. Not many people are willing to help for free. The most jobs advertised in Canada are the lower end paying jobs, which a lot of people pay a lot of money to come for, just to realize the job they left behind was far much better than this, but no one told them that, just because it said $18 hrs and you converted it to your country and looked a lot, doesnt mean it carries the same wait once you earn in from here. The living expense are very different. The reality is, it is not where you are , but whom you are and determination knows no barrier. Anyone who will trust God for help, work hard/smart and be patience in life, they will make. It might take longer than they expect, but they will get their eventually.

We lived in Toronto for 30 years and moved to Calgary 6 years ago because of a good job offer, and the hope for a less congested, polluted, dangerous, expensive environment. Here in Calgary, we are living in the inner core and can enjoy sitting in the back garden without hearing the drone of traffic or airplanes. Toronto was fabulous from 1994 to 2014. All our friends and family who still live there are unhappy with the decline of the city.

Please don’t mislead people by saying “don’t move here” because of rising rents. Just because NY has even higher rents/COL, does it make it not an attractive city to move to? Rents go up with demand, which means more people want to move to Toronto. Just because your rent went up doesn’t mean it’s a bad city. The people who can afford it will move for a good reason and enjoy the city.\nEdit: I see you caveated this at the end, good. Would be nice to have this caveat upfront though.

My point of view....\nIn Canada no language barrier as compared to Europe. If you can communicate in English then it's very comfortable in Canada.\nEveryone is very hardworking, their weddings are simple.\nThey don't spend too much on clothes.....no show off.\nWe need to be more adaptable. \nNot to fuss to much over the food. Be joyful and enjoy the beauty of Canada.\nDelhi is very comfortable.\nGood local transport, domestic helps , good hospitals and vibrant markets.....but the climate is too hot and too cold and the poverty ,air, noise pollution is bit too much. \nUpper middle class is a very happy space in India.\n\nIf health remains okay.... explore and appreciate the new place and their culture.\nIn India too much focus on food... that's why adjustment problems.( within the family also)\nI love the diversity, care for the huma life ,infrastructure and work culture of Canada.\nAbove all very handicapped friendly country.\nPeople are very polite.\n\nTrip to Canada has become very expensive ?\n\nAs a guest we too have a responsibility to make our host feel good and be an asset in whatever way we can contribute.

Go back to Nigeria. You beling there, no discrimination, you have plenty of money, you have a good life, you enjoy life, sll the good reason.

India is in a much better situation in this recession.. even better than the US and Canada. I have a good job here.. Enjoy my weekends with great food from swiggy zomato and beer?. You get better salary packages in India. Cities like Pune, Bengaluru, Gurgaon, Ahmedabad, Navi Mumbai are great to live in and earn. I work from home...nice work life balance, enjoy my vacations in Goa... Go for a vacation every 4 months. Thoughts came in to shift to Canada... but decided not to go. Why struggle so much abroad. I moved to Canada in the early 2000s as a young single lady. I had zero responsibilities or commitments to anyone back home, my expectations were not high, and i was on a journey. Canada is good when you immigrate on your own and have nothing to loose back home meaning no properties etc.\nI enjoyed living in Canada. Of course challenges will always be there but i always found a way out of them. I will forever be greatful to Canada.?

They want to enjoy the infrastructure, education, security in Canada without putting in the requisite hard work that make those things possible! \nThey want to behave like they do in Nigeria where a Doctor employed in a Teaching hospital will not report for work or report late and still take his full salary home at the end of the month. They divert patients to their private clinics and rip them off. Why do young people try to move out ? Simply, better job and better opportunities in life. If asked, young people back home with good job & money will definitely like to visit these countries but will seldom settle there. Professionals in Australia are far better than Canada and USA. Weather, people, lifestyle everything. I am in Aus since 2004. Mechanical engineer wife Pharmacist and most of our friend in good jobs and enjoy life. Been to Canada and US....There is no comparison. Yes if you are a failure in life then its a bad experience but then dont blame the country blame your abilities....that you are not good enough to make it happen....

Canada has starbucks and mcdonalds as well. I enjoy not having guns being the number killer of kids, not having literal PRO NAZI groups rising like crazy, and not insane amounts of violence and hate crimes based on what people look like.\nAlso, IN America, you pay more for much worse outcomes. Your healthcare costs way more and you get way less. \nYour healthcare is good if you're rich, for everyone else, its f#$king garbage.

I live in Québec, borned and raised here too. I would NEVER move to USA. There is no good reason to do that. As a woman, I would fear for my safety, my health and my rights on my body. Hell fucking no. This country feels like it's back to the 1800s with all these guns and archaic laws. The Far West era is far far away behind us, and it should stay right there. Also, total no. I love spending weekends in Boston, it's a great city with a good mix of sport and culture. I know some urban centers are more liberal, but as many mentioned I cannot live in a place that gives so much importance to guns, religion, moral conservatism and Marjorie Taylor Green. We do have nut jobs in Canadian politic, but nothing remotely close. Also, I did find an article from May 26, 2023 that said there were 200 mass shootings across the US so far this year. I also hate the culture war in the US where everything become political (like LGBT rights, climate change or even biking). Worst part is that I'm considered conservative in Canada. I understand that there are nice people everywhere, even in the bible belt, and I would enjoy sharing a BBQ with them, but do I really want to raise children around people that believe that the Bible is more important than human rights and women freedom of choice with their body?

I've only ever lived in Canada, but have been to many parts of the US, and my honest answer is: probably not. Don't get me wrong, there are many places and things in and about the US that I like, but, unless I was offered a job that was too good to turn down, I don't think I could ever live there. One of my closest friends is American, and lives only a few short hours away, but...Possible exceptions would be places like Maine or Vermont. I've read a stat numerous times over the years, that there about as many people in the US who cannot afford health insurance than there are people in all of Canada. It's a shame because the USA has top tier medical facilities, but access is not guaranteed.\n\nPS: from a Canadian perspective, I really enjoy your honest reactions, and applaud your efforts to educate yourself. I wouldn’t move there, even though the shopping is good, cheaper cost of living, etc., it’s too crowded and there are too many crazies running around. I live just outside of Montreal, pretty near the border. One of my good friends used to live in Vermont, right near the border and we would visit each other several times a year. She moved to Tennessee, and I flew down to visit her a few years ago (haven't been down since COVID) while Trump was still president and I'm not even joking when I say that as soon as I left Nashville I was highly anxious 100% of my time there. And I'm white, I'm not a visible minority, I suppose if I kept my mouth shut nobody could tell I'm not from there, it really hit me how sad it is that I even felt that. All these patriotic gun toting Americans I feared would shoot me for whatever reason they could come up with. I understand that that's not ACTUALLY likely, I was glad I left my husband and children at home, and while I enjoyed my weekend there I couldn't WAIT to get back home. New England was easier to handle, but I'm not cut out for the openly racist, homophobic, anti women's rights, you name it kind of discussions. I was horrified that not only do people ACTUALLY think like this, but those who are being oppressed, or those who simply support those being oppressed are having to keep quiet for fear of being murdered because of this. Nashville was really cool, I loved it, but I truly feared for my safety outside of the city, despite being a straight white woman. I can't imagine what it's like for the minorities, it's so sad. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said that you're just numb to it, because being on the outside looking in, it's hard to believe what's actually going on, it looks as though the country is regressing,

My opinion as a Canadian with no first hand life experience in the states but personally know plenty of people who do and follow many Americans on social media.\n\nI like to look at both sides of the story when I don’t personally know any better. First thing is when it comes to health care, Canadians use only the cost as an argument but never the quality. The only time I will ever use the government funded healthcare is for a broken bone. Any other issues my knowledge and experience makes me stay far and clear away from the hospitals. However I was talking with a retired business man who spends winter in Florida and he said he had a health issue while there, was referred to a certain doctor by a friend, made an appointment within a few days, not a yearlong waitlist, and with one visit had his issues fixed. Paid the bill and was done with it. Not a story of take this for a while then come back, come back to get referred to a specialist, wait a few months for the specialist, get an appointment 6 months later, and after surgery you feel only slightly better because in your mind you should be better. I do believe Canadian healthcare is low quality and sadly designed for the government to make money. American healthcare is private and needs to offer good quality services in order to succeed.\n\n\nNext subject is violence. Everyone I know and follow in the states have never had any major acts of violence towards them. I believe just like Canada, some areas are more prone to violence but since the states have 10x more people, they have 10x more violent spots which makes it seem worse. Rural Canada and rural United States seems to me very similar in the way people treat each other. \n\n\nI wouldn’t be scared to move there if that’s what would be best. Doubt it’ll happen because I enjoy having the amount of unpopulated area to go riding atvs, snowmobiles, and whatever else. Seems like the states have less area that everyone can freely enjoy but I could be wrong

Greetings from Vancouver ??\nI often travel to see friends in Seattle, San Francisco, Santa, Anna, and Phoenix.\nI do enjoy doing some visiting and some travel, but I always feel on edge primarily because of the bat shit crazy people that have guns down. There is absolutely amazing and not in a good way. Don’t get me wrong I’m a Canadian gun owner here, but, I believe and sensible gun laws.\nI couldn’t do without a universal healthcare, affordable prescription, drugs, and federally legalised cannabis. \nAmnesty International has had a travel advisory about the US for a few years, now advising people not to travel due to the level of violence that occurs daily . Averaging one mass shooting a day and last year. I do believe there is 40 score shootings. To me is more than enough reason, never to advise anyone to move to the US. And women should have complete autonomy over their own body and make their own decisions.

I am Canadian, I was born here in the 60's, I've travelled around the world, including the US but have always lived and worked in Canada. I love my country. saying that now....\nThe last 10 years for Canada has been the worst ever in history, our government has destroyed the foundation of what it means to be Canadian and has made this country look very bad on the world stage.\nEventually that will change. This currently gives reasons why a Canadian wants to move from Canada.\nYou are right about the US, there are places you can move to that offer quiet, country, safe living but like Canada, those places usually trade the good life for lack of opportunity.. the difference is most of Canada gives you the good life and opportunity in the same place. A good example, Billings Montana or Red Deer Alberta... if you compare the 2, they are close, but overall life in Red Deer would be better.\nCulture has changed thoughts too, I could never get used to seeing anyone other that law enforcement carrying a gun.. I realize Americans have the right to carry guns.... but why? are you being invaded?\nI will pick up a gun if i need too in order to protect my country, but I don't need to prove it by displaying it in public. Given that alone, The american people have gluttoned themselves on firearms to the point of not just beating each other up in disagreements, but shooting each other... road rages in Canada dont usually end up death by shooting, people and kids don't usually walk into malls and schools and start shooting.\nYou cannot get guns that easy in Canada.

Your suggestion that potential permanent Snow Birds just need to do their homework to select a community suited to their personal philosophy is a good one, as long as the Cdn heading south has the most marketable skills on the planet. In the current economic climate, you look for work, then relocate when you find a job that ticks enough boxes. If you are the breadwinners for a young family there are a LOT of boxes to consider. Even if you are an actual Snow Bird (retiree) you often come home when you health starts to decline. The US has lots of touristy things I might enjoy visiting, but I watch enough US news to know that most of what I do know comes from movies & TV, which has nothing to do with real life.

No question there are many things thatAmericans can enjoy that are not available for Canadians. For one, the variety of consumer goods is more plentiful due to the size of your population. Our population is one tenth of the U.S. so the consumer market is much smaller. Having lived in the US for a dozen years, I missed so many things about Canada. Now living back here I appreciate our universal health care and the fact that everyone isn’t walking around with a weapon. Those were the two things that really bothered me about the US. I had a great job and worked with great people and we continue to be friends. And now the political climate in the US is teetering on absolute chaos. ????

The base of homelessness in Canada is because they don’t treat them at the time of need if depression is in its very earliest stage it’s treatable but when it gets in middle high and severe level than that’s untreatable why ? Because of the medical system in Canada ✌️ They only give you a painkiller tablets like Tylenol and etc after 1 month appointment running behind there hospitals and clinics than they asks patients to enjoy life and meaning of enjoyment in Canada is go to bars drink alcohols do cannabis strip bars tGirls do cannabis strip bars you are good citizen and you would be cured like this ✌️?

Vancouver does have 2 languages. English and Chinese , I live in Alberta and I have to say I love it, you are right the cities etc here are isolated that is because the country is so huge . My advice for Canada:\n1 - obviously LOWER THE TAXES ! ... this is basically a SCAM! ... 30$/h may sounds good while in reality is less than 20$/h because of hidden fees(Taxes) ... YOU ARE SCAMMING PPL!\n\n2 - Its utterly stupid to ask for doctors and architects when you don't have a proper vacancy waiting for them, make the immigration process way easier , as soon as a vacancy represents itself act on it and get the ppl in, don't do all the licensing/registrations ... all that over kill process slow the whole thing down , let them learn by doing !! ... that would get the ball going way easier and way faster! , just make sure immigrants who are willing to do it have a good understanding of english.\n\n3 - Easy up on the registration/licensing process , not everything needs to be perfect , let the doctors, architects and technicians work as Interns Immediately or even Pre-Interns .... that way you would have more doctors and no body needs to wait for 2 years for a fkin CHECK UP! ... that is sooo buzzer and I bit its only getting worse!\n\n 4 - try make organized Social events to allow people to socialize better with each other and make friends or families...\n 5 - for the climate, doing nothing 9 months a year is stupid! and boring! , u must find a way to make inclosed warm facilities for newcomers and residents to enjoy.

my number 1 issue when i went on vacation was the food, like my gosh, I couldn't even drink the milk of how much fat it had, like, it was crazy! beagles were very sweet (which I actually liked BUT I cannot eat that everyday), it's just too much unbalance, and I was like 16... I wasn't a picky eater, so for me it was a big shock, I didn't have a healthy meal once that whole month I was there, and I was staying at my mom's friend with my mom, so it's not like I was at a hotel or something, they didn't sit down to have a family meal or cook home meal stuff for the kids even, it was just a big culture shock overall, and I personally did not rly enjoy it. When I went to visit my family in New Bedford, was pretty much the same thing, the food tasted super different, simple lettuce just didnt taste good, I mean this is my experience ofc, but the struggle with food taste was real xD
