Pls don't get me wrong. I love my president right or wrong. But Trudeau makes a very compelling point. This is not the smartest thing to be doing with these tariffs. Someone pls correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the reason President Trump brought the imposition of tariffs on Canada and Mexico in the 1st place was for them to do more about stopping the flow of Phentenol (excuse if spelling is wrong) into our country. I thought both countries have stepped up to do just that already. No? If so then why continue with this stupidness?

Trudeau is hated by Canadians. He is no hero. These tariffs make Trump look stupid. Isn't that what Trudeau was saying by calling it a dumb thing to do? It is time for Trudeau to actually resign and leave politics for good.

All these stupid things that Trump says and does are meant to make money for him, his family, and his friends in politics. How? Mayhem and negativity directly impact markets to the downside. This group is simply making massive gains from the financial market bloodbath that has been happening for well over a week now. If you don't think this is true, look at a the Nasdaq, then look at Bitcoin and all the major cryptocurrencies.\nThey are shorting the hell out of all of these assets, and they know how to do it. I can't believe he is siding with Russia. I don't get why he would want to risk having Canada as a potential enemy. I'm not sure to what extent, but still. I don't know much about politics but I hope for our sake, this isn't permanent. Why do that to an ally that we have been working with together for decades? Makes no sense. That's the thing, though. The only thing that makes sense is that Trump may plan to let Putin invade Canada from the polar cap in retaliation for its refusal to submit to becoming part of the United States. It is very clear that Trump would not participate in the defense of Canada in the present context, even if it goes against all past history of North American partnerships and joint defense efforts.

The United States is BANKRUPT! That is the only reason that makes sense why Trump needs tariffs on product from other countries (Trump Needs to have his people buy American). The USA needs all the money spent on themselves rather than on foreign products. This is also why Trump is pulling a Putin by trying to invade friendly countries, Even this action is to try to force Canada to become part of the United States so that they will own and Control our natural resources. The thing that the USA forgets is Canadians are Proud and Resistant to threats. We will remember this for a long time and even if this ILLEGAL ACTION works you will gain 40 MILLION TERRORISTS Hell bent on killing all Americans!

Historically, tariffs have been imposed to support production of American goods. Think cotton, steel, other raw materials the U.S. used to produce in past centuries. For the past several decades, America has not produced many raw materials because it's cheaper to buy them from countries who can pay their workers less to keep the cost of production low. It's impossible to quickly begin producing these things here, so Trumplethinskin's tariffs will do nothing but piss off our trading partners and dramatically increase the prices Americans pay for a long list of essential goods. I see a major recession coming soon. If your goal was to close American car plants because the parts are too expensive and make it impossible for U.S. citizens to afford to feed their families, you've achieved it, King Donald ?

Who benefits from this? him! he gets to blame Canada when American prices go up and his supporters will not need or want to hear the truth, they'll be willfully ignorant. Trump is doing the same thing to Australia. The US has a trade surplus with us so tariffs make even less sense. Americans are turning on their close allies and siding with Russia. Insane.

How is he defending Canadian jobs? The whole point of tarrifs is to make it unprofitable for American companies to use Canada for things like manufacturing, energy and other natural resources.\n\nThe liberal government is who made us weak where we depended on the trade deficit in our favour. All these years US has a trade deficit of 1 trillion dollars every year. With tariffs we could have recovered 250 billion every year. That is a lot of money. Currently every American owes $110,000 because of the accumulated debt of 36.5 trillion.\n\nJustin, how long are we supposed to bend back wards while US has a trade deficit of trillion dollar over the past 20 years. Why cant to you balance the imports and exports so that you don't have to keep taking advantage of USA. CNN did not see the trade deficit every single year for 20 years? what are they talking about? Trudeau is on his way out. Has five days left in office. He is very unpopular on both sides in Canada due to the state of things in Canada that have nothing to do with Trump. I just just don't understand what these blanket tariffs achieve for Americans. Firstly, employment in the US is at an all time high, if the aim is to bring back primary and manufacturing industries then it's just a myth. It's just pointless and mindless. Nobody wants to go back to working in heavy industry, people want high paying, highly specialized industries, this doesn't create that, it just makes cost of living higher so wages have to go up and cost of bringing in raw materials goes up, all things that discourage start up companies that employ well educated and skilled Americans

However, I don't want people to forget that this individual talks about making things affordable for their citizens. There is a reason he has resigned. Don't forget that our country unreasonably fights itself on sooooo many things that make items in Canada so much more expensive than they need to be. Maybe America just doesn’t wanna be screwed over on everything they are just trying to make things fair and get Canada to do their part and have some patriotism seems like it’s working. And perhaps a little respect and gratitude would be in order instead of BS moral high ground and socialism.

Don't buy Canadian Bacon, Maple Syrup and other Canadian goods. Canada is NOT the closest ally of the US and has long in fact been like the Karen nation of North America who is massively passive aggressive to the US, and outright hatred for the US is rampant among many Canadians. 25 percent 155 billion which is dwarfed by the trade imbalance of the many billions more of Canadian goods that go to the US, mostly it is American Alcohol that goes to Canada, to fuel the drunks of Canadian society, so Homeless alcoholics in Canada might truly suffer. How is more sobriety a bad thing Trudeau? We are all human beings trying to navigate through this stressful and chaotic thing called “life”. It’s okay that others have different opinions. It’s okay. That’s what makes the world go round. Can we all please just be a tiny bit more caring, compassionate, understanding, and empathetical towards one another. Not even a lot, just a little bit. It’s really simple to be kind.

What Trump is doing is smoke and mirrors. He thinks these news reports from CNN are fake news. These things are distrations. He thinks his followers believe he is truly making America great. The Nazis are running, i mean ruining this country

How refreshing to listen to an intelligent leader! i only take issue with him calling Trump a smart guy. Trump will never do anything but ridicule and insult Trudeau and Canada no matter what concessions Canada makes. The great thing is that Trump never had any kind of plan except to tariff the hell out of our former allies. Canada is very systematic about their tariffs against US. They are using a scalpel rather than a sledgehammer. Very smart against very stupid, childish, and undisciplined.
