You know I’ve been killing myself working non stop for like a decade trying to hold it all together because of all the increased prices of everything. As a result I have not been paying attention. I know the tariff thing was happening, but didn’t know why this was a thing. \n\nShame on me for not being more up to date. \n\nI also know nothing about Trudeau or his political stance on literally anything aside from what he talked about in this video. \n\nI must say this was of speaking is EXACTLY what I expect from a world leader. Everything was delivered very well and without personal emotions. He’s not going off the cuff and saying whatever pops into his head. THIS is the exact style of communication we need from world leaders. I don’t see how it helps anyone, anywhere in the world to have people in control of nuclear armed nations to be shooting from the hip with communication.

Seems like every country is threatening the US indirectly..... funny people as long as things were all hunky dory for themselves they licked up to any other country and the moment they have to pay the actual price of the sacrifices made by others they start threatening them..... Castro's lovechild really needs a reality check.

As a Canadian citizen I have always admired the US up until now, I sincerely wanted to move to the US to build homes and start up a company. But now am re-evaluating my decision because if this how the US treats their friends and allies, I really feel sad for their enemies. Both countries benefited from having a good relationship and now the great US has no one willing to challenge Mr Trump on this idiotic move, America is alienating themselves from a lot of countries and regular Americans are the ones who are going to suffer from this fall-out, the rich won't be affected but regular working class folks your stress is going to get a whole lot worse and that's unfortunate. Hopefully US wises up sooner rather than later and stop blaming immigration for their problems it's poor governing and politicians that have us looking at each other as enemies rather than humans with the same struggle and issues. They have money to send annually overseas but none to improve the life of their citizens in need, that should tell you something. People that don't look like you aren't your enemies, people who try to harm you, undermine you are your enemies. People are just searching for a better life that's all, the most basic thing humans have in common, change the red tape a make things more structured and rid your country of the bad apples and welcome those willing to work, build and serve God and the country. May God help us all the beginning of Sorrows has begun ?.

I do not know if tariffs or Trump's actions are the correct thing to do. But why can't the USA do 25% tariffs, if Canada has 65% tariffs on the USA? Why is Canada demanding the USA support them? Someone please explain it to me. And Trudeau could have picked up the phone and called Trump, this speech was not meant to solve anything. What is so brilliant except to heighten rhetoric and tension? Someone needs to be a grown up but going on CNN and insulting Trump isn't the way.

The United States is BANKRUPT! That is the only reason that makes sense why Trump needs tariffs on product from other countries (Trump Needs to have his people buy American). Canada, the American people stand with you. Personally I wish that Justin Trudeau was our president! Although I have to disagree with you, Trump is not at all a smart man. I think it is time to use all the unused land to grow our vegetation and any thing else that gets planted to use for the Canadian. We do have the brain and the finances to grow our own fruit even if it takes a couple of years for the plants to produce the vegetation to supply the need. We need to manufacture our own goods. Do the right thing, we all have a civil duty to understand our candidates to the very best of our ability. When a man has been convicted of dozens of felonies, and we tell you that this is only what we were willing to expose. You may want start believing us. Canadian here: I don’t agree with the WSJ that DJT is a very smart man. I think they are just being diplomatic and putting the emphasis on the actions, rather than speaking ad hominem. I think he is crafty, but not well-informed, or logical. Even if he is smart, he is not wise, and there is a huge difference. If you read Proverbs, you’ll see he has the traits of a nabal, a fool. Plus, he is showing signs of cognitive decline. That’s not his fault, but he should be reassessed, and then those who CAN act, need the courage to do the right thing for the sake of the US and the world.

I have never felt more proud to be a Canadian, it’s a good feeling, I was almost brought to tears earlier thinking about it. And it’s interesting to note that it is overriding the fear of the consequences of Donald’s actions. Here’s where I can’t help but think of you, our fellow North Americans. I'm not an expert by any stretch but I think what America is trying to do is, by doing this, force the US market to start up working again, America can make 90% of everything it needs. \n\nThink about WW2. Just so it's known but America has never been self-sufficient. We have always been reliant on others with good trade and fairness towards each other. Thanks to Trudeau and the Liberal party the opioid problem has only gotten worse, and they haven’t done enough to fix it. What's it about? It's about money. It's about a gangster family in the Whitehouse, and oligarchs in the administration, all trying to make as much money as possible. There's no other explanation possible. That's the only explanation that comes close to making any sense. Now more than ever, even if these tariffs are short-lived, Canada needs to move away from U.S. trade. This is necessary for the long term survival and prosperity of Canada. We need to make every effort to increase trade with the pacific rim, Europe and South America. There may be some short-term pain, but it has to happen. Given the events of the last few years in the U.S., Canadians have to realize that things can get even worse, and will likely never be the same. There is very little reason to believe that the ties Canada has had with the U.S. will ever be what they were, or indeed any reason to believe that that is even desirable now.

Things are getting out of hand. In just over a month the world has gone from being in an uncertain place with multiple wars etc into a very grave and dangerous place. And we all have MAGA and Putin to thank for this. Trump and Putin are in collusion. They want the same things. Putin wants control or not only Ukraine but Europe and Trump wants control of the America’s and Greenland , this is what is happening and we need to wake up before the world as we know it is no more?

I think MOST of us do not want this either. Our government is a failure and we need to change it. We, the people. The REAL people. As a Brazilian, i don't know why Canadians are still trying tho deal with America. It's clearly not a democratic government. Brazil and Canada has dealt for so long, it's time to increase this. Brazil is part of BRICS countries, but it doesn't mean it's not democrat. Why Canadians keep thinking about EU and EUA? So many things have happened and Brazil is now a strong partner. So to replace Income Tax with Tariffs, America needs to apply 100% tariffs on ALL Imports from All countries around the world!\nSo prices on imported goods will be at least double in America! That will make people buy less. Imports will drop! So even with 100% blanket tariffs it will not raise 3 Trillion dollars for Trump!\nWhat's more? As America tries to make more things in America to avoid tariffs, tariffs will dry up and where does Trump get 3 Trillion dollars? ?

Don't buy Canadian Bacon, Maple Syrup and other Canadian goods. Canada is NOT the closest ally of the US and has long in fact been like the Karen nation of North America who is massively passive aggressive to the US, and outright hatred for the US is rampant among many Canadians. 25 percent 155 billion which is dwarfed by the trade imbalance of the many billions more of Canadian goods that go to the US, mostly it is American Alcohol that goes to Canada, to fuel the drunks of Canadian society, so Homeless alcoholics in Canada might truly suffer. America doesn't need there trade, both Canada & Mexico was only worth about 2.3% of their entire GDP. It's a bad thing for Canada but it's not going to effect America, you'll probably see a temporary blip but it'll be back booming even better in no time.
