We should be holding our relationship with Canada to the highest priorities

Trump has officially ruined relationships with Americas longest ally. These tariffs will impact all innocent people.

US credibility with allies is zero with DJT in the White House. US allies now see the US as NOT to be trusted in any working relationship or treaty. Trust takes enormous effort to gain, but can be lost in moments.

No- it's not American relationship. It's a Donald problem.

I think finally Canada realized that if they have friend like US then they don't need any enemy. You can't trust US at all and need to start open your market for global trade. I am glad that finally this happened cause sometimes you need a slap on face to wake up from a cozy bogus dream. Yes it will be painful few years for Canada but when time will come for fresh water and Arctic resources, it will be payback time to US. Forget US and start shipping products to Europe, China and India. Make pacts and create meaningful relationships and let US do whatever they feel like doing because ultimately Canada is the 2nd biggest landmass in the world, 3rd biggest supply of oil, 5th biggest supply of natural gas, 1st in the world for supply of potash and uranium, If you include Great lakes then it has 4 coasts that can tie them with water so great opportunity to create best ports, 1st in natural source of water and 5th biggest agricultral landmass. Then why bother and put your energy into someone who don't care. Let US do whatever they like and forget about them. Just don't go to US and don't deal with US.

The US was partly responsible for the collapse of the Soviet Union. Mr. Putin was a KGB officer during that era. Mr. Putin realizes the depth of Trump's ignorance and intends to take advantage of their relationship in order to bring the US further along the path to economic collapse. Payback for its role in the collapse of the Soviet Union as well as an opportunity to rid the world of a dimming superpower.

I had never thought for a second that this would ever happen between two friendly countries. These two countries are literally siblings. I hope for a peaceful relationship.

I'm an American who did not vote for the boar in the white house. I stand with Canada, Ukraine, Mexico, Greenland and Panama. Trump is behaving as if he made a deal with Putin to destroy the American economy and America's international relationships. We are making enemies of all our allies.

I was questioning PM Trudeau for his foreign relationships and dealing with Khalistan separatists and straining Canada's relationship with India. But this speech changed that perception. I like how he addresses the very issue. Crystal clear and a very matured leader I would now change my position about him. This trade war will really hurt both sides. It may help govt as businesses will pay more on sales taxes. But it will ultimately hurt the consumers, especially middle and low income folks on both sides of the border a big way. There are so many problems to solve in USA and he focused on this.

As an American, I am so angry and disgusted with how our government here has put millions of American’s livelihood at mind blowing risk and their disrespect to many countries where we have built relationships with for decades and affect the livelihoods of the people of those countries; all to manipulate the markets for billionaires and corrupt criminals. It's truly unfortunate that this is all caused by 1 person, who no longer has a system of checks and balances on him. I feel our relationship with the U.S has come to an end. We need to have closer ties with our friends in Europe, and secure more trade deals with the EU and Great Britain.
