Hi Tyler, first time I have watched your video, you appear to be known on the tube channel. You may be a nice guy, but you really live in a bubble, if the horror around you , in your country , domestically and especially foreign, does not effect you or your life, you cannot have a point of reference. School shooting has become a norm in your country, foreign politics, I don't want to start with that, domestic politics and corruption beyond comprehension, I have visited the US numerous times and I like the people, well , I had the right colour , that helped. My statements are not meant to attack the people of the US, it is meant to show that your domestic and foreign policies are extremely dangerous, since you can only be voted in if you have the backing of the corporate world, and don't forget to kneel before AIPAC , so , the people are friendly , but your domestic violence is literally stupid, your prison are privatized , they have to make money, you have the largest amount of prisoner , the corporate media , especially certain media such as Fox or Cnn, that is all the people know, very few read or do research, so , in conclusion, I like visiting certain aspects of your country, but I could not ever live there, my morals would prevent it, so good luck, unfortunately your politics effects Canada, economically, Canada should be far more independent.

I know correlation does not equal causation but you do not even examine the possibility that the far higher salaries in America in certain sectors like tech compared to those in Canada might at least partly be the result of having a more restrictive immigration policy for workers in those sectors in America compared to in Canada. The same possibility does also occur when it comes to the relatively much higher cost of housing in Canada. This possibility is to a relatively neutral (British) observer such an obvious logical possibility that I'm afraid I'm going to have to ding pretty hard this otherwise pretty good video for not addressing it. You start with a supposition - the American immigration system is broken and the Canadian system is great - but the facts that you produce in the video, assuming that the point of immigration is to raise living standards, seem to exactly contradict your supposition?!?

I've certainly given thought to moving to the United States. Washington had some beach-front homes for around 450k... I also considered buying an acreage in California to start a wildlife rehab for endangered desert dwelling antelope. Turns out poop from animals that don't eat much is a pretty good way to reduce desertification... or at least I was willing to try.

OMG I laughed so so hard when you read the French comment (I’m French Canadian too)… he made you say it three times ??? priceless!\nMy personal answer would be : no, I never considered moving to the US. I considered Europe several times (went for exchanges in England and Russia a decade ago). Moving to US… for myself, I can’t see a good reason. Especially now… \npeople who are interested in the US are people who have career ambitions or want to make more money (like in Universities, finance, technology…). There is a second category of people, that I don’t think they use Reddit ;) Retired people over a certain age, they go live in Florida half the year and some decide to stay. There are also a small number of neoconservatives who think we live under a liberal dictature (yes, I’m looking at you Alberta), might be more interested, as well as our evangelicals too, since they want to insist on imposing their religion on everyone else. \nSo, mostly : climate for elders, ambitions (career or financial) for youth, ideology for some others. Maybe love too !

My uncle moved to Texas when he married my Texan aunt, but I’m fairly certain that’s only because she has a medical condition that means she physically cannot endure the temperatures we get here in Canada in the winter months. She would have quite literally been housebound for a third of the year every year if she came up here.\n\nEdit: Also, Canada may have a smaller population than the US, but we actually have the second-largest total land mass out of all the countries in the world. Russia is the only country with more land.\n\nEdit 2: In 2022, there were a total of 51 school shootings. That’s more than 4 school shootings *per month.* Of course we don’t trust the USA to be a safe place for children. Especially since even if you survive the shooting, there’s a good chance you’ll be bankrupted by injury.

My opinion as a Canadian with no first hand life experience in the states but personally know plenty of people who do and follow many Americans on social media.\n\nI like to look at both sides of the story when I don’t personally know any better. First thing is when it comes to health care, Canadians use only the cost as an argument but never the quality. The only time I will ever use the government funded healthcare is for a broken bone. Any other issues my knowledge and experience makes me stay far and clear away from the hospitals. However I was talking with a retired business man who spends winter in Florida and he said he had a health issue while there, was referred to a certain doctor by a friend, made an appointment within a few days, not a yearlong waitlist, and with one visit had his issues fixed. Paid the bill and was done with it. Not a story of take this for a while then come back, come back to get referred to a specialist, wait a few months for the specialist, get an appointment 6 months later, and after surgery you feel only slightly better because in your mind you should be better. I do believe Canadian healthcare is low quality and sadly designed for the government to make money. American healthcare is private and needs to offer good quality services in order to succeed.\n\n\nNext subject is violence. Everyone I know and follow in the states have never had any major acts of violence towards them. I believe just like Canada, some areas are more prone to violence but since the states have 10x more people, they have 10x more violent spots which makes it seem worse. Rural Canada and rural United States seems to me very similar in the way people treat each other. \n\n\nI wouldn’t be scared to move there if that’s what would be best. Doubt it’ll happen because I enjoy having the amount of unpopulated area to go riding atvs, snowmobiles, and whatever else. Seems like the states have less area that everyone can freely enjoy but I could be wrong

I like your channel and as a Canadian friend a forest for the trees situation may I point out. Gun violence/kids(schools) Schools are filled with kids with a certain percentage being somewhat unstable not being fully formed human beings yet I.e. hormones and such, not even taking into account mental health issues for some. Then being immersed in a culture of having free and easy access to guns means wether you live in a small medium or large city it can happen to you and yours and just because it hasn’t yet don’t fool yourself thinking oh I live in a good part of the U.S. and school shootings don’t happen here.Forest for the trees my friend

Tyler, thanks for your entertaining and fun videos. My grandfather is a dual citizen but has never renewed his passport or anything and when asked to do so, he outright refuses. He says he hated living there. We live in the Vancouver area of Canada right now. My wife is finishing her registered nursing degree and we are considering moving to washington state, within an hour or so of the Canadian border on temporary work visas (TN1) for a few years. The main reason is the cost of living differences, mostly in housing but a lot of things are cheaper down there too. For example though, the costs of rent or to buy a house in the Vancouver area is insane - 1.5 million is generally a starting point. The cost of a detached house south of the border between Bellingham and Blaine starts around $400,000 ($500,000 CDN). If renting, it's crazy cheaper than here. \n\nThe area we are considering going to is very close to the canadian border, I've never heard of major violence problems in the area. Like one of the other comments you read, we're basically considering moving there to take advantage of a lower cost of living and higher salaries for a bit to try to get ahead. Living in the Vancouver area is such an absolute DRAIN on our finances that it is intolerable. If we didn't move to the US, we'd have to find another place in Canada to go to, but we do like the climate on the coast here. I'd actually just keep commuting to Canada daily to work in Canada since it's so close to the border, and writing the bar exam to be able to practice law in any US state except California, Massachusets, or New York is a pain in the backside to even be able to write it, let alone prepare for it. Just easier for me to keep working here unless we decided to try to make a permanent move somewhere further from the border.\n\nIf we decided to change our minds and apply to stay in the US in the future, there are a lot of the other considerations that other people have raised on top of my own ability to continue as a lawyer. Gun violence in the US is crazy, extreme polarized political views and increasing intolerance against diversity of race, culture, religion, (and while it doesnt affect us directly, it bothers us how LGBTQ people are increasingly targeted with backwards policies and by certain segments of the public), the health care system in canada has it's problems but it's also got it's strong points. We'll never go bankrupt because of a health care issue since we can move back to Canada IF it's ever a problem. Thankfully we are all pretty healthy so it shouldn't be much of a problem for a while at least. And we wouldn't even move there at all if her employment as a nurse doesn't offer health care and better pay than she can obtain here. \n\nOur kids will probably attend post-secondary (college/university) in Canada as dual citizens unless they get a scholarship to a top US school. The costs of post-secondary in Canada appears to be much cheaper than in the US and we have some good colleges/universities that consistently rank high globally.

Take a gander at any large, medium, and even a few small cities.\n\nHave you ever heard of Detroit (once proud home of my beloved Motown music), Baltimore (complete devastation), or Chicago (my home town—don’t make me cry)?\n\nThe entire homeless situation started when mental hospitals were snake pits and certain factions demanded that people be released.\n\nSure, it sounds humanitarian but they didn't bother to consider what would happen to mentally ill patients suddenly left to their own devices on the streets.\n\nThe do gooders actually were foolish enough to believe that the seriously ill patients (schizophrenic, bipolar, borderline, and plenty of others) would take their meds on their own. It doesn't work that way for patients who are not in contact with reality.\n\nNow we add extreme drugs (crack, meth, heroine, ketamine, whatever they hand out at parties, etc) and severe cases of PTSD/PTSS. It's obscene that we have veterans on the streets.\n\nHeath care--?. Pre Obamacare it wasn’t terrible but medicine had become a CYA project. We are so litigious (side eye to John Edwards ) that doctors practice defensive medicine and carry high limit malpractice insurance (guess who pays for that?). Every decision is driven by avoiding lawsuits, not proper patient care.\n\nPost Obamacare, US health care is an unmitigated disaster at every level. We’re short on doctors, too. Many quit and students are losing interest—medicine won’t pay enough anymore to justify $500K in loans.\n\nWe could repeal every bit of Obamacare tomorrow and still not be able to fix it. The leviathan grew tentacles that released toxins into every nook and cranny of the system. Now that they have buried themselves in critical layers, it would be impossible to yank them out.\n\nI have a good PCP who is booked 6-8 weeks out. Specialists? Hah. GI, neuro, and derm? Four to six month wait post referral.\n\nI never thought I would say such a thing but I would probably swap the Serial Sexual Predator occupying the WH for your Little Lord Fauntleroy.\n\nCan Canada compete with us in corruption? Government employees seriously tried to topple a sitting president and not only were there no consequences, they were able to retire on fat pensions that we citizens work hard to provide for them.\n\nOur government is run entirely by K Street lobbyists; our “representatives” don’t even draft legislation, that’s done for them by K ST.\n\nHow about crime? Surely, in 2023 has caught a cell phone video, right? Where are the videos? Show me the proof. There is plenty of footage of BLM destroying property and injuring, even murdering innocents. If we gripe about this behavior, we are raaayyyycccciiiiissssts.\n\nNo rational adult would claim that the US is not a violent country and becoming more so. Nor can we claim to have eliminated racism. That takes time; it cannot be done by force.\n\nOur economy went from smokin hot to dumpster fire in a short span of time. Pre election, head hunters were shaking the trees to find job candidates.\n\nOur unemployment is up as are our taxes with the stomping out of the tax cuts. \n\nDespite the endless sloganeering about how the Trump tax cuts only benefited “rich” people, it’s quite the opposite.\n\nHigh earners lost their pet deductions and lower income taxpayers were quite pleasantly surprised when they did their returns. The cuts were targeted to preserve wealth for the middle and lower classes.\n\nI could go on for another 100 pages but you get the idea and I get crabby writing for free.\n\nI will leave you with the caution that it’s best if you doubt and question any data and any stats coming from our government. Those are seldom legit. If the data comes from a study, always look to see who paid for it. And how large the sample size was; how were the participants selected? Many countries purport themselves to be better at some thing than another country. I hear a lot of Canadians. Criticize other countries for their pollution, or CO2 emissions and oil production. Interestingly enough, Canada is in the top three largest CO2 emitted is due to the oil and gas industry Per capita than most other countries. So, if people are concerned about the environment, they should understand where Canada really stands.\n\nAdditionally, I think it could be important for you to talk about how expensive things are in Canada. Canadians pour over the border into the United States for better housing to go to Costco and grocery stores and shop for clothes and large appliances, and to avoid high taxation. They also come to the United States for better schools, better work conditions and higher pay. In fact, the joke is people immigrate to Canada as a steppingstone to eventually immigrate to the United States, which is why Canada has a big problem keeping educated talented people.\n\nSafety nets for society certainly have their importance however, socialist policies do not work the best. All they do is dumb down society by destroying competition and quality and quantity of and even accessibilities goods and services.

You are overgeneralising when it comes to some sections of your healthcare segment. I work in the field in both rural Alberta and British Columbia and most of what you are saying is not the norm.  \n\nYou present two isolated cases of clearly questionable medical experiences. I don't know where you're from, but you will find good and bad doctors (as for any occupation in life frankly), anywhere - it is saddening that you are presenting this and viewers who are not clued up on the facts could interpret this as the norm.  \n\nFurthermore, communicating with your physician via email is considered to be not secure and private and physicians can get into malpractice issues for doing so. On the other hand, there are a number of secure patient communication platforms approved by the health ministries. With that being said, the adoption of the technology lies with individual physicians. There are success stories from the most rural parts of Canada where this is embraced. You are, once again, speaking very broadly which could be interpreted incorrectly as the norm. \n\nTo summarise: Yes, waitlists for doctors are long, but that is about the only universal truth in your segment. Calling up a few friends is certainly not research - a term that is used way too easily by creators and too easily accepted by their audiences.

Some are trying to reunite with family, some are fleeing poverty and feel America is the best place to come up but it's those that are fleeing violence that concern me. We can't take on the world in one nation only to have some immigrants globally thumb their noses up at our traditions, rights we had to fight for, housing we need etc. The sad fact is running to America isn't the Answer. We fight the Middle East who will never change but we need to turn our attention to Mexico, the island nations and South America. It doesn't matter if people who won't change are overwhelming our nation. The violence you escape still comes here. It's getting to the point of entitlement. I've known immigrants who had to pay out-of-state fees while living in America until they could gain a visa but those from the south refute this and demand in state tuition or the same rights as those who took classes and became legal citizens the right way. So much violence from gangs and the cartel but we can't help by just opening the borders. It's time the South changed and took out the gangs and cartel for good to make a better life . Moreover, greedy leaders need to be taken out if necessary so these people can have a better future. The south and certain islands can't really say America should mind its business because these invasions are our business. When we are flooded with ethnic groups of people it becomes America's business nationwide.

You forgot 1 major point-\nAt least here in Canada, we don't have to live in fear of gun violence. We don't send our children only for them to be massacred in their schools. At least our politics doesn't revolve around Jesus, guns and abortion (though our politicians are also crap). At least we don't have to break bad to pay for even simple medical procedures. At least our cities aren't overrun by homeless while our rural areas are not overrun by hillybillies. \n\nWhile yes in general Americans are richer, the fact is that only the top 10 percent live better. Not the homeless piling up in the cities, not the 3rd world shanties in the Appalachians and south and certainly not the thousands living in the American jail system. It's crazy how bad a country can be despite being rich.\n\nI was born and raised in the US. I have lived in Canada and much poorer countries like Spain and Portugal. Let me tell you, Americans live the worst life out of all. In much poorer Spain, people still have universal education till university, good healthcare, good public transportation system and they don't have to eat the frozen crap most Americans eat. Spanish people eat fresh meat, fruits, cheese and vegetables and drink some of the best wine, despite earning much less than Americans and working astonishingly low hours. Moreover, their cities are livable, not like the concrete jungle of Texas. \n\nYes America is rich but DUDE, Its seriously third world, if you arent rich and successful.

We're polite and nice until we're taken advantage of or treated like an idiot! Kindness is important, but doing what's morally right is more important to me personally! So if that means me speaking up or calling out bs when I see it, I will! I do believe in giving each person their own clean slate. I adjust according to the person! That just means I don't assume anything about a person based on race, the job they have, the car they drive, how they look, the clothes they wear. Those things have no bearing on how I choose friends! It's all about the content of one's character! I do keep to myself most of the time but strive to be kind and polite when I'm around others! But everyone is different. You will run into aholes anywhere you go! Canada is NO EXCEPTION. You have to be careful still about how you move. For example as an indigenous woman I don't go out alone after dark. You can't just trust anyone and leave yourself vulnerable because you never known what someone's intentions are. You can find people that are so unkind. You can also find some of the nicest people in the world here. I imagine the same can be said about any country. Our government certainly doesn't represent us personally. We all have our own personalities and lives! And I don't judge others based on their race religion or their government at home! When I was a kid there was no shortage of people letting me know I'd never amount to anything. So yeah you can find aholes anywhere you go! Please don't leave yourself vulnerable and assume everyone here has good intentions! Especially if you travel alone! We still have a lot of issues you probably never heard of! You have to be careful anywhere you go! ❤

If you think this is a good thing you are very naive or stupid. Take it from someone who is involved in direct intratiction (13 years and still going) with people from Cuba, Haiti and of course Mexico. There's a reason these people are leaving their homeland. Their problems they have just don't go away because they relocate. Many of them even have ties and connections with the cartel directly. Many were brought up and raised/act a certain way out of survival of the environment they were born into. They don't shut it off just because they move. They come from a place where violence is often how things are settled and that instinct comes with them, wherever they go.

There are some things about our healthcare system that are annoying, but I'm ok with it overall. I'm Canadian born and haven't had a family doctor since mine passed away years ago, but clinics and emergency rooms are good enough for me. I was never a sickly sort. Crossing my fingers and hoping that these post COVID symptoms will eventually go away without all kinds of prodding by annoying doctors. I also plan to make use of these cancer screening appointments the province mailed to me last month. Not sure if they do that for everybody, or if there's a switch that gets flipped when Canadian residents reach a certain age.

I feel like there's a certain segment of people in each country who grow disillusioned with their home country and want to move. I've never been to Canada, nor do I know anyone who lives there. Would I move there? I don't know maybe. Every country has good and bad things. Though the US where I am from is very segmented in it of itself with good things and bad things

As a Canadian, living in Ontario but has lived in Quebec, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. I feel like you have a very Quebec experience with things like rent and cost of living. \nThe rest of Canada is very......Not Quebec and certainly not Montreal.\nSpot on about our expectations of good quality food though.

To confirm as an American. Yes, it seems like everyone wants to put hot sauce and cheese on everything and it's annoying. The tap water here is bad unless you get it from the fridge or have a filter. Here in Arkansas, I think our spring water is great.\n\nRegarding the city and getting around to restaurants and other areas, pretty much. A good portion of our factories are on acres of land. However, some are still close enough that you can walk to. I'm certain this is hardly different from Canada but we are 97% rural. People think of America as big cities but usually its the local town and a pumpkin patch. When Aba said America is like 40 different countries, he ain't wrong. \n\nFirearms is ingrained in our culture. That's a given. I see a lot of people mention safety and this is what I can say; I felt my safety was compromised by a tornado warning. Trouble can happen but if you don't deal drugs or do some under the table stuff, usually you won't be a victim of a crime. \nI'm planning on owning some land myself so I can shoot on it, farm, and raise a family. Just be independent.

I am leaving next year. Spouse visa that I applied for is pending for 1 year and they are so cold that they'll return it even after a year instead of asking any missing information. By the noise the politicians makes may be it is a good for refugees I am not 100% certain.

I randomly looked at videos from downtown Manchester and Concord in New Hampshire - Philadelphia - Detroit - Chicago - New York - Baltimore - Denver - Atlanta - Nashville, and Knoxville in the United States, Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, and London in the UK, Paris, Marseille, Lyon, and Toulouse in France, Frankfurt, and Hamburg in Germany, Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane in Australia, Tokyo, Yokohama, and Osaka in Japan, Busan, Seoul, and Incheon in South Korea, Toronto - Quebec - Montreal - Winnipeg - Calgary - Vancouver - Victoria - Ottawa and Thunder Bay in Canada. we should be fair. The bitter truth must be accepted. Without any exaggeration. Completely impartial. I have to say that I didn't see a single piece of garbage in any of the other country's videos to convince myself. Without exaggeration, in all Canadian cities, you will find a piece of trash or garbage on the ground less than every hundred meters. It must have an important reason. I do not know. But this is a bitter truth. You can try. This country should be brought closer to its exaggerated claim. Certainly, some Asian countries such as Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and even Malaysia are much cleaner compared to Canada. Of course, we should not forget that Canada claims to be one of the 10 cleanest countries in the world. And cities like Vancouver and Toronto claim to be one of the 5 cleanest cities in the world. I am 50 years old and from a country in the 3rd world in the Middle East called Iran (with the most dictatorial regime in the world) and have traveled to 26 countries. Canada is far from its claims. At this time I live in Saint-Sauveur with my family. I work 5 hours a week as a volunteer person to clean the sides of roads, streets, national parks, and public places in the city. I lived in Vancouver for 4 years, this city is a disaster. when you drive or walk on East Hastings, Victoria Drive, Commercial Drive, West Georgia, Broadway, Main Street, Granville, and most places downtown, you never believe this city is in Canada. they're worst than some places in Africa or the 3rd world countries in Asia. I love this country and try my best to help. I came for peace. I thought Canada is a developed and first-world country like European countries, the US, Japan, South Korea, Australia, News Land, and Singapore with the western standard, and also I thought is one of the best. The first time 2018 I arrived in Vancouver, I was shocked. I saw a lot of homelessness, trash, crime, ugly urbanism, and rusty houses in downtown and east Vancouver. I saw, homeless people, pooping and peeing everywhere and it's so common. nobody cares. I was shocked again. I endured for 3 years but every day going worst. late in 2022I decided to move to the east coast because I thought that place has a stronger culture. I chose Montreal. I had heard it is the capital of art and civilization in Canada. it was absolutely wrong. Canada is Canada. I was shocked again, again, and again. the wave of homelessness, graffiti, vandalism, bad smell, terrible infrastructure especially roads in or out of the city, and above all, you can see trash everywhere. plastic bags, tissues, water bottles, and disposable cups. You cannot see any street or park or public place without these. This is impossible. surprisingly nobody cares. neither the people nor the government!!!!!!! please, don't be fooled by the advertisement about a good Canada. please, be careful. most of the things about a good Canada are deception.

I’ve been living in Canada for 5 years now and I can surely say that Canada is loosing it’s beauty. What good is a growing GDP if it means the current citizens and their children are not the beneficiaries? Along with committing treason against the sovereignty of this nation. i am an indian and i dont understand why some indian families particularly in punjab and andhra region are soo obsessed with sending there kids outside for education ??? it has little value in india unless it is an IB league college .. someone going to canada to study commerce or a BSc is very stupid . I think this was a pretty fair assessment in general, you relied on statistics instead of just personal opinion for your rankings. That said, Quebec should not be number one. You somehow got through talking about it without mentioning the fact that it is a French province. You have to be able to speak French to live there. That’s a major concern if you only know English. As much as I want to put my home province of Saskatchewan at the top (though on a side note I think it should be higher, your main argument against it was the crime rate, but that’s just in certain areas of the province), Alberta is the best province from an unbiased perspective. Also I think this is a bit unfair to Manitoba as well. \n\nAll things considered though this is a solid list. Good job.

One of the top issues is being black. Seen as black and identified as black when you leave a predominantly Black Country. \nWhen I watch the various Realestate shows of white people buying property abroad as second home or just packing up and moving. I always say it must be nice! You gotta now cater to the rich and famous wealthy people but then it’s back to never being home and not enough time for family. \nThe reality is if we could make the money we make here in North America and Uk back home in in the Caribbean and specific countries in Africa it would be a dream come true and that goes for other communist countries too. You truly have to know what makes you happy. Make money but enjoy life it might mean living below your means even though you can can afford a bit better life style. People do it all the time back home (not because they want to I know) but for some reason when you move abroad a one bedroom for your single self is to small, the car under $24k isn’t good enough, you don’t want your kids to share a room so you need a bigger house and the list goes on and on. \nCanada is boring if your not in a major city with money to spend you know why? Because people forget the population of the entire country of Canada is only a 3rd, 4th, 10th of the population of certain countries that immigrants came from and in the case of the US population it’s 100x more than Canada. So of course there’s more opportunities there. \nAnd finally imagine if more countries didn’t need visas to travel? They really would just come to make money and go back home or live bicoastal. Even just the freedom of travel half of the immigrants would of settled elsewhere before the year was up or go back home.

I have thought about this move to CA but here in Nigeria I have about 5 years career growth in HR and I am currently a team lead and by next year or before the end of this year my promotion to supervisor is very certain plus I work remotely and pay not bad atall but can get better lol... After living in Thailand, I I realize how much time People are outside more making a lively atmosphere, living more in the moment enjoying good food and friends...Same in many Latin American countries, I never was alone, certainly.

This is unbelievable! The woman and her husband are being polite even in their abuses because they are filming the event. I can certainly say there must have been some reason for the officer to get so mad at them. This couple just got a good civil servant in the gutters because they were smart enough to record this and put the blame on him - COMPLETELY. As if you would rate the province of Quebec as #1! And yes, one had better learn French living there and forget about using English. This is the province where the October Crisis of 1970 took place. This is the province where English signs are on their way out. The Rock Machine biker gang started here, second only to the Hells Angels. This province bucks what others do, in many ways. For instance, if you marry in this province and you are a woman, the marriage license, unlike other provinces, doesn't allow you to change your birthname to that of your husband. Personally, I think that's a good rule, but I think it would tick off a lot of people. And this province makes no concession to being bilingual. They prefer French only. They're often wanting to separate from the rest of Canada. They will not allow certain types of workers from out of province to work in Quebec. Is it beautiful? Yes, very, but there is much beauty in all of Canada.

Pretty good Adam I'd just mention a few of those things are...I don't want to say inaccurate but way more diverse. For instance French. Yes Quebec is the only French province BUT New Brunswick is the only Bilingual province and basically half and half. This is good for things like federal of provincial services because by law they must provide service in both languages but not so basically everywhere else. The problem with this is you can have an almost completely English town almost nobody speaks French and drive 15 minutes and be in a town where nobody speaks English. Research on this might be hard because a town with a French name may not have any French people in and vise versa. Also this problem is multiplied in the fact that if you Do want a French area we don't speak standard French or Quebecois but instead Le Chiac which is a difficult and confusing mix of old French and english (almost exactly like the Cajun dialect). Second part of this is that Montreal is easy to live in if you don't speak French and is so multicultural you are just apt to hear Swahili as French in public. Last part is be very careful where you move on the prairies as they have may isolated towns some that speak French also. Next is tipping I've never had to tip anyone for a haircut outside of the military and all other forms of tipping here on the east coast are purely optional and wait staff don't get upset if you don't leave a tip unless you were a jerk or left them extra work like making a big mess (I worked as cook for a while after I got out of the army and I rarely ever head staff complain) HOWEVER....tip a waitress well and she might accidentally give you 2 pieces of pie lol and tip a taxi driver well and he will not only get you the cheapest fare he will find ANYTHING you may need no questions asked. Lastly on the nice thing....we are nice for sure especially compared to our southern neighbours BUT there is a lot of passive aggressive nice that happens and this also varies greatly. For instance as a city boy of course you answered the way you did but a guy who have lived all over this country in big and small, French and English places who now has retired to a rural town I can say I find the cities quite snobby and the French and the English can be quite snobby to each other and where I live now if you asked a random stranger for 5$ chances are you would get it also driving down the road people you don't know will just wave at you as if you were the closest friends. Canada is certainly a weird place so many extremes and my advice to anyone wanting to move here is do your research and then visit and travel a bit if possible because even us Canadians can be surprised by thing or two across this gigantic country

I love how you said that the schools in Newfoundland and Labrador are good… the teachers are okay, but there are a LOT of drugs and shit passed around in schools around here. It’s honestly awful. But the picturesque part is true, along with the shitty weather. And downtown St John’s is pretty nice, although it’s filled with skeets (basically people that act like gangsters, that smoke weed, vape, etc etc. It’s only really bad on the west end of St John’s and Mount Pearl though, so you should be fine if you avoid those parts). Canada is what you make of it. You can arrive rich and end up poor and you can arrive poor and end up rich. In between that, you can have a great life that balances your needs. I’ve seen immigrants succeed simply because they see the opportunity in front of them . They worked hard in their own counties to stay just above the poverty line ,but when they apply that same effort here it pays off ten times greater. I feel that compared to a lot of immigrants, natural born Canadians come across as spoiled and a little lazy…we are. We haven’t had to struggle the same way someone from a poorer country might have. I’ve talked to people who’ve worked ten to twelve hours a day just to stay afloat. If you did that here you could make plenty of money to live and have some left over. As far as owning a house goes,yes it’s expensive . I feel that homeownership in any country is relatively expensive. Here is a tip; use that soaring home prices to your advantage. Houses are expensive but you can make a lot of money buying and selling. I recommend putting together a buyers group and share the house for a few years, then sell at a profit, buy a bigger house or two smaller houses.try to buy the worst house in the best neighbourhood and fix it up slowly . That house could double in value in five or six years in the Toronto market. This is nothing new of course ,the people from India and China seem to do this a lot here ,it drives up prices and profits. On the downside to this ,you are now part of the problem. As the housing prices are driven up the non wealthy can no longer afford to own a house . They are at the mercy of high rents with no rewards of ownership. They are caught in a cycle of hard work and (relative)poverty. This could also be you if you can’t keep up the house payments and are forced to rent.\nHow well you speak English is important but your native language is also useful here because Canada is half immigrants . As a Canadian that speaks only english (Irish descent)I have to say to all newcomers that I’m very impressed that you have learned a new language and that you may even speak more than two! Don’t be embarrassed about your abilities . I find that in my experience , Canadians do not look down on people just because they don’t know English. In fact ,I’ve known people that have lived here for decades and still know very little English. They are comfortable in their communities and they function just fine. Learn as much English as suits your needs and be proud of any gains you make.\nOutside of Toronto are other cities that you might consider when looking at southern Ontario.From my experience,most are generally the same, just not as big . There are large immigrant communities in London Ontario, Hamilton and just outside of Toronto where housing is just a little bit less expensive but the commute to work is probably longer. This is just my opinion but in the small towns there are less people of colour , (which is what people of no colour call everyone else . I wonder if I’m called a person of no colour in some other culture ? LoL ). That might make it harder for you to feel integrated ,if that’s what you want. I’m not saying that people from other cultures can’t make it in a small town , I’m just saying that it’s definitely not Toronto . Here, people of any nationality can feel like they have a place where they can belong . It seems that no matter where you are from ,there is a community already here that’s set up restaurants and stores and clothing shops and newcomer support systems. And if your from Portugal or China or India or Africa or the Middle East, there are large groups of your kin here that have established roots for generations and you probably know this already.\nToronto means meeting place and that becomes evident quickly. I was born here and it’s one of the things I love the most about my city. I’m not going to say that there isn’t systemic racism here ,the people of no colour still kind of keep the top position , but as we become a minority in a decade or so ,I hope that will shift to a broader spectrum. It’s certainly happening already. One good thing is that the police department tries to hire people of colour so that racialism may play a smaller role. We’re getting used to seeing our politicians more and more reflect their constituents.\nI have to talk about the weather. Because I’m from here I’m used to the extremes of minus thirty and plus thirty . Eventually you get used to it (somewhat). Dressing in the right clothes is important. Summer is easy , but winter is different. It’s trying to kill you. Spend the most that you can afford on winter cloths . If you can afford a quality parka you should get one. The hood can be drawn around the face and stay out of the wind.\nIf not ,think of layers with a outer layer that blocks the wind. We have things called long Johns that are basically full length thick cotton or nylon pants that go on under your pants and a pair of extra thick socks. Buy your boots to fit your thick socks. Try to get the best boots you can afford ,it’s something that you might spend a little extra for but never regret.\nAll in all we are a fairly organized and peaceful society. Most people are friendly and will give you a chance . We have a good social safety net here and you don’t have to be homeless or starving if you don’t want to. There are people and organizations set up to help ,that truly try to get people back on their feet. It’s a good investment that pays off in ways that matter for the quality of life in a big city. I’m not putting my American neighbours down when I say they do things differently. They have their ways ,we have ours. This is just something that we do because we’re trying to learn how to help those that society has discarded or can’t find their place. Sure we have one or two areas where the homeless have pitched tents and we have some resources for them if they want. Unfortunately The mayor recently forced a small camp to move from a very visible place to more scattered locations. There were social workers involved as well as protesters trying to protect them. I didn’t like that happening and I want to see even more resources dedicated to them ,but on the other hand ,we are trying to avoid something like what happens on the streets when it’s just ignored. When I see YouTube videos of the streets of Philadelphia I’m extremely saddened. I thank the lucky stars that I was born in Toronto Canada.\nFor all it’s pollution and expense and crowds ,I think it’s a great place to do almost anything your heart desires . For every ugly building there is a beautiful park ,for every honked horn there is a birds call , for every cold and dark day there is beautiful sunny one around the corner.

a lot can be said about your narrative. you failed to mention the age of immigration. That alone is THE single most important factor on the out come of the exercise . anyone over 40 should not immigrate. second the education and skill set you bring will be a major factor in the out come. Third there is systemic racism after a certain level which one can feel in very job. i strongly believe one should come to Canada, get top quality education and skill, work with top quality people/organizations which should not be more than 5-6 years, then go back home. the long term price of immigration is huge. This country needs hands to work and pay taxes so that their show should go on. It is such a shame that follow Asians and even American Natives play such a role in perpetuating racism against African descent people, but I guess they have their issues of identity. Introduce policies for double blind testing procedures since doing so would be a great first step. This helps to remove bias in certain fields and a great example is in orchestra's. Since it's implementation they've seen a rise in the diversification and equalization in general. This might be a good way to resolve the issue in education and employment which in turn could spread to the general society. It also helps to ensure that the most qualified individuals get the jobs and not those who happen to have connections.

Many people throughout the world seem to have so many stereotypes about Americans. Whether it is good or bad there typically is some truth in a stereotype. Overall it seems like you are enjoying yourself and no matter what there is no place like home. I would think no matter what your current situation is you still miss Canada as I would miss the United States if I were to move to Canada. \nA couple things you mentioned in the video were not correct and as with anything there may be a little truth in the matter but yet still incorrect.\nThose who do not have health insurance are not charged or taxed $150 monthly. There is a provision in the affordable care act (ACA) that penalizes certain individuals who make above a certain dollar amount. The amount is either $150 or $300 for the entire year. I concur any monetary penalty against anyone for not having health insurance is outrageous. I could be wrong but I believe this aspect of the ACA was never implemented under President Obama and it was indefinitely suspended or revoked by President Trump. I also feel like I need to address your thoughts about the United States all about war. I believe the American people are like most other people and want peace and civility. The government and major defense contractors have differing opinions at times. Of course there is plenty of people who are war hawks but they are in the minority. Most of us are absolutely sick of war. We currently have been at war for almost 19 years. That's six complete world war 2's in their entirety. \nI think you were being awfully generous when you said obesity is on par with the rest of the world!! Unfortunately there is far to many fat people here and the problem is only getting worse because the media says be happy and proud you are fat. Celebrating obesity is absolutely insane and it sends the wrong message to young people. Racism has always been in Canada, dont be fooled. It may not be as prevalent as in other countries but racism is in fact here in Canada, I grew up here, Im a black born Canadian and dealt with it all my life. Mostly just taunting and name calling but one thing is certain, wherever you find white people you will find a lot of ignorance and even the good ones seem to always be a step or 2 away from a racist rant when they agitated. As long as they don't get violent with non whites then I guess we can deal with the slander and name calling. As a person with a darker hue, you will always be looked at like you are an Alien to them.
